This is interesting.

This is how many people of the world think of society in the USA.

I’ve visited many times, since the 1970s.

Many Americans will tell you how great America is. And in some ways I guess it is. If you have a good job and good health, you almost certainly have a better standard of living than a comparable European.

And here’s the BUT.

The gap between the have’s, and have nots is vast. It’s vast and ever growing wider.

I was last in the USA in 2023 for my nieces wedding.

I won’t be coming back.

I don’t understand how some people can live in a society where there are such huge amounts of poverty and injustice and yet people, they don’t seem to notice. It’s become the norm.

See some beat up old car driving around, it’s almost certainly gonna be a black or Hispanic person driving.

Homelessness and people begging on the street.

My girlfriend had never been to the USA before. We drove from Cincinnati to SC to the beach. 12 hour drive. Thing is, traveling by car, you get to see the real usa. Not the Hollywood USA.

My girlfriend was shocked by the poverty, everywhere. We don’t see that in the UK or in Europe, trust me, not in the way you have. Of course we have poverty, homelessness, crime. But there is a safety net. Some people through reasons of their own, mental health, abuse by others, slip through the net. That can’t be denied.

But honestly I just don’t understand, most people just don’t seem to notice, it’s like their blinkered, tunnel vision.

We could never live in the USA, way too much injustice for a couple of lefty Brits.

Sorry, I also know there many many good people everywhere in the USA. People with a social conscience who want to see real change and work and fight for it.

My fear is, how can that change happen when big corporations don’t want it, and they own the politicians.

What other reason can you think of why the richest country in the world doesn’t have universal free healthcare? It because of the billions the corporations spend on “lobbying” the government and brainwashing the populace.

Lobbying should be illegal when it’s done by corporations, it’s bribery, not lobbying.

Sorry for the long post, but this really hit hard when I read it.

Let's actually talk about the "8647" stuff to get everyone up to speed if they've missed it

Basically, former FBI director James Comey posted a picture of seashells arranged into these numbers.

The meaning of 86 is to remove or get rid of something.

47 is because Trump is currently the 47th president.

The message, in other words, is to get rid of Trump. Get him out of the white house. That's the logical interpretation.

But the MAGAts are claiming this is a call for assassination because 86 can sometimes rarely be used to refer to killing as an extension of the euphemism.

And worse, they are using the law to investigate this as an assassination threat.

This should be terrifying to anyone who cares about freedom of speech!

Because if they can argue that the numbers are an assassination threat simply because they can be interpreted as such, then they can interpret any speech against them as threats and silence their critics!

You can't say "get rid of Trump" anymore because "get rid of" can be interpreted as a threat to kill. You can't say "Dump Trump" or any variation either! The end result is that any statement that is vague enough where it COULD be interpreted as a call for violence WILL be.

And do not think this will be applied to both sides fairly. People who violently attacked the Capitol while explicitly screaming "Hang Mike Pence" were given Presidential pardons!

Do not expect investigations into people who sold this merchandise during the Biden Administration!

Unlike the traitors shouting to hang the Vice President for upholding a Democratic Election, 8647 is not a call for violence. It's a call for removal. It's a call to get these scumbags who are destroying our country OUT.

And if we cannot even say something as innocuous as 8647, we cannot say anything at all.

The 1st Amendment and freedom of speech will effectively be dead.

So with that in mind, allow me to shout from the rooftops, in defense of free speech and the First Amendment...
