🍓Hello lovely! I didn't want to make a whole long post about this, but I do want to talk about it. I'm so glad you asked! So the staff is... made aware of the situation, obviously. But, I think I'll go a little into depth on how each member deals with this information.

Crowley knows because... well... he sees you out of the ceremonial robes before anyone else does. He handles it as well as he does every other issue he comes across. "Just cover it up!" Famously said by Crowley. He's not unkind though, he does ensure that you get the help you need and he makes sure you keep what you need hidden, well, hidden. But... he won't do more than the bare minimum unless his hand is forced. Like... with Scarabia, he pretty much threatened the whole dorm with expulsion if they so much as uttered a word to anyone but amongst themselves. He is, unsurprisingly, not a father figure to you. He's more like... you're weird quirky uncle that you like, but only in small doses.

Grim, our little guy, finds out at the same time as Crowley... and he's a little harder to convince to keep his mouth shut to start. He doesn't like you, okay, you stole his position at NRC (like he had a chance at all). With a few well-placed cans of tuna from both you and Crowley, he keeps his little rat mouth shut. However, when you're actually granted studentship as NRC? His tune changes. It changes because Crowley holds his position as a student over his head, but it changes. Not a SINGLE person will ever hear you're a woman from Grim. He can't lose this position, not after so much work to get where he's gotten to. Besides, he grows to really love you! You're family to him, and no one out family. Seriously, he's so protective of it, once Ace and Deuce figure it out they're too scared to talk because of Grim's looming presence.

Sam is the first member of Staff to find out, other than Crowley. How? Crowley's sudden interest in pads, tampons, birth control, and all the fun stuff that comes with being a woman. Sam usually would just shrug his shoulders and excuse Crowley's quirky behavior, but then you come in looking like a lost deer and he gets it. He is genuinely so nice to you though! If you ever feel unsafe on campus, you talk to Sam and he'll handle it for you, okay? Sure, he jacks up the prices on your feminine products, but it's considerably less than his normal prices. Hell, if you're short, he'll "suddenly" remember he's got a discount on those items. He's like a cool older brother, honestly. He lets you hang out in the back of the shop and do homework when you ask, and he gives you snacks at a discount when you're there!

Crewel doesn't really treat you any differently than anyone else. Admittedly though, he's fond of you, even if you're a troublemaker. When you come into his class on your first day in a uniform six times too big for you, he feels pity for you. You didn't ask to be here, and now you have to wear that atrocious old uniform? You poor little pup. He's not exactly easy on you, but he's more understanding of your mistakes. Eventually, after you get to know him better, he offers to get you a nicer uniform and also privately tutor you. This is his excuse for keeping you busy so that you don't have as many chances to get found out, and it's also because you are horrifically failing his class and it looks bad on him.

Trien treats you the most differently out of everyone on staff. The SECOND he found out you were a girl and were being forced to hide that fact for Crowley's sake? Oh my god, grandpa was PISSED. Crowley got an EARFUL after that meeting. This man makes it his mission to make your stay as comfortable as he possibly can make it because sevens know Crowley won't be doing SHIT. After he meets you? Oh my god, you remind him of his own girls when they were little. He absolutely adores you, and everyone can tell. It's so odd to the other students because he clearly favors you, and when they ask you about it you've got no clue. He is your dad here at NRC, as out of character as that might be. You are a young woman lost in a world that is not kind to you going through so much more than you need to. He doesn't want to add more to your plate. You can come to him for anything and he will provide as best as he can.

Vargas (I'm sorry for forgetting about him lol) is a lot like Crewel in the fact that he doesn't treat you too differently from his other students. You're still made to push yourself to your upper limits for gym, still expected to keep up with your peers, and still expected to meet his general expectations. However, if it's way too much for you to do, out of fear of Crowley and Trien breathing down his neck, he'll lessen your load. Otherwise, he doesn't really have much chance to be around you outside of class. He finds you amusing and knows you've got a good head on your shoulders, but that's about it from him.

I feel like a lot of students would be scared of the two of you because of how strong you seem, but what sets you apart from Vil is how you're able to still be extremely kind and caring (not saying Vil isn't, he's just bad at showing it). He likes the sweet side of you that shows up from time to time

Epel

He was at odds with you first when you told him what he was doing was dangerous and things like that. However, after you two got closer, he realized that you weren't just a "no-fun" person and rather you cared a lot about the people you cared

Definitely tried to make you do some daring things while you two go on dates. While yes being a mom-friend does mean you are prone to saying "that's dangerous you're going to lose an arm" you aren't the type to say no when it comes to something new. I feel like it's a nice balance of safe and fun

You probably saved him from Vil a few times, mainly with him asking you to talk to him with you since Vil is such a scary person haha

Overall he likes that you're super caring and that you sometimes help him adjust to Pomefiore's rules. He wants to be someone people can rely on as well, and so you're sort of a role-model to him too

Azul

I feel like he tried to recruit you into the Monstro Lounge when he found out how efficient you are and how you're super good at catching details. However, he was scared of you a little bit because of how you were able to spot his more manipulative side extremely quickly unlike most students

I feel like once you two get to know each other, he sort of finds comfort in you unlike the comfort he's ever felt after mastering spells and such. You make him feel like he doesn't have to be perfect around you, and he admires how you are able to show kindness to everyone

You two are probably the reason the lounge is extremely well-organized. Whenever something slightly goes wrong, every Octavinelle student working there will come running to you before running to Azul now haha

When he saw how you were like around the first years, I feel like he could sympathize. He's had to manage so many different kinds of people through contracts, but for you it was like you were saving them from fire 24/7

Ace joked that you two were going to date because of how similar you two were, turns out it's not a joke anymore!

Jamil and you first got close after taking care of Kalim's antics and then his friends (which were also your friends) and their shenanigans. Jamil and you often joked about how you two were like the parents of the group

Even though he's stressed out of his mind, he goes out of his way to make sure you aren't fatigued. If you need anything from him, whether it would be a cup of tea or just some time to read, he's there to help. I feel like he would almost be a mom-friend to you too haha

Overall you two are literally nicknamed "mom" and "dad" by students because you two sort of act like that haha. I think what Jamil would admire the most about you would be how even though you're strict and aren't scared to face danger, it's because you care about your friends and want the best for them

Fizzaroli and Asmodeus would know a thing or two about that. As most people know, these two are big on communication. In fact, once you're all somewhat settled into the relationship, y'all set up a time to actually talk about the expectations you each have going forward. This is probably when it comes out you're ace. No matter where you fall on the spectrum, Fizz and Ozzie are happy to accommodate you. Even if you're not involved with the sexual aspects of the relationship, they make sure you're involved with everything else. Reading together, watching TV, playing games, partaking in substances, baking, going on walks, listening to music, you name it. There are so many other facets of a relationship that they're so excited to share with you.

Stolas is another who has to know early on. Likely occurs when he's flirting with you and notices you're uncomfortable. He's marginally better at communication (look at his texts with Blitz and try to disagree with me). If you don't bring it up, Stolas will, whether its in person or not. He wants to set clear boundaries so as to ensure your comfort and the stability of your relationship. Now, he's a passionate person who wants a passionate partner. But don't think that it exclusively applies to sex. Stolas wants to be wanted. He would love nothing more than to spoil you with nights spent on Alpha Centauri (pls someone get that reference), trips to your favorite sight-seeing spots, extravagant evenings spent in the shopping districts. Of course, passion can be found in the simple things, too. When you get him a thoughtful gift, write him a poem, take photos of him, set up a date, the list goes on. At the end of the day, he can't complain. As far as Stolas is concerned, as long as you love him, he's the luckiest being in every universe.

Blitz doesn't know until he absolutely has to. He's flirtatious, for sure. But lets also account for his affinity for being stupid (I say it with love). When you tell him, he's surprised (mainly because most of the people he knows are horny). It's actually a nice change of pace. It takes some getting used to, but he really enjoys learning about what else a relationship can be. It's new- having someone not just want him for sex or to steal things or kill people. Someone just wants him for who he is. Of course, that doesn't mean he knows how to show affection. Blitz is so used to being flirtatious and "weird," so have a spray bottle ready at all times. It's not that he doesn't respect your boundaries, its that he's afraid you'll leave. He doesn't believe someone could just want him for who he is, and he projects that insecurity onto you and the relationship. They key to things with Blitz is time and communication. No matter what though, he does love you, so much it makes him afraid. But it doesn't matter, because you love him too.

Hirano can be... kinda oversensitive when it comes to Kagiura. I don't feel like that's the right word for it, but he's so nervous about doing anything wrong way past the point of it being reasonable. Like, before even meeting Kagiura he was worried about being a good roommate and not scaring him. Which is perfectly reasonable! At the time. But it has almost been a year now, with Kagiura almost constantly talking about and showing how happy and grateful he is for Hirano. Hirano has seen how hard Kagiura worked for them to stay roommates. And yet he tries so hard to make up for perceived failures. Not that he shouldn't apologize and make up for things he does wrong, it's just... him sewing the button because he thinks it's his fault reminds me of why he accepted the touching–making up for hurting Kagiura's feelings–and it kinda rubs me the wrong way for some reason. Well, not so much the things he does to make it up to Kagiura, it's more the face he makes when this happens. He feels way worse for doing these things than he needs to and risks going above and beyond for it. I want him to do these things because he wants to, not because he feels guilty.

Well, it's still sweet. It's not like Hirano doesn't want to do these things for Kagiura, I just wish Hirano wouldn't feel so guilty when no one is blaming him for acting the way he does. But in the end, I guess Hirano simply isn't the type to be satisfied with a simple apology.

-Not sure honestly! So they're still very much a fun duo to fiddle with but it's not much different from how they were before

Aeris/Misraaks: FWB ship, kinda complex

I'mma count this as 'ship' even though its not too far off from the Aeris and Drifter thing in that a heatmate is just an inherently more vulnerable, intimate position than a casual fling. However, Aeris is still aromantic and Misraaks is someone I view on the ace/demi spectrum, so it comes with a caveat in that its again, not a ship so much as this grey zone of 'I trust you to see me when I'm aching and needy and vulnerable but I don't want you as a partner'- made even MORE complex in that Aeris treats Eido like a younger sibling which gets Weird when you factor in the fact that he's fucking her dad (though obviously the adopted sibling thing isn't literal)

What made you ship it?

-Aeris/Misraaks was the first thing I considered when thinking about fleshing out Aeris's sexuality. Partially because Misraaks is hot, so of course I'd want to throw people at him, but also because his chill, laid-back personality meant he was perfect for Aeris's tendancy to want to experiment with things.

As for how they fit together- it works because Aeris, as the Young Wolf of his universe, already has a history of trustbuilding exercises with Misraaks, so Misraaks knows that he's a very quiet, dependable individual who'd never divulge any personal information and would meet any of his alien eccentricities with curiosity instead of fear or judgement (and that Aeris is brutally honest, so him offering himself as a heatmate because he wants to help + is curious is genuine). Aeris is also in the unique position of being both outside of traditional Eliksni culture while also being feared and respected enough by them to be a Kell's heatmate, so even if something DID come out about them fucking, there wouldn't be any social consequences to it re: hierarchy stuff. Oh, there would be gossip for sure- but how could you tell a godslayer who he could or could not share his body with? Or judge a Kell for wanting someone so strong as a suitable mate? Not to mention not needing to worry about any STDs or pregnancy issues with Aeris, as Misraaks might for any other Eliksni

And Aeris- as he very quickly found out when sleeping with Misraaks- is a size queen and a masochist. So Misraaks doesn't really have to worry about Aeris just gritting his teeth and bearing it. If anything, he has to tell Aeris to slow down before he does something that causes Misraaks irreparable distress, even though Aeris himself can bounce back from any injury. It makes finding relief during his heats all that much easier, even if Aeris can't give him pheromonal relief

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

-The comedic relief potential inherent to anyone figuring out that Aeris and Misraaks are fucking. I mean, its a very poorly kept secret if you knew where to look, but...who's looking?

-I literally made Aeris and this pairing, I have nobody to argue with but myself

Aeris/Taniks: Ship. Just outright ship. Aeris is still aro here but honestly I don't think that matters here because the whole thing is a goddamn disaster from start to finish. They're the world's most beautiful car crash

-The moment the whole 'OOPS I ACCIDENTALLY MARRIED TANIKS THE SCARRED WHEN GUARDING A NEWLIGHT' moment went down in DnDestiny! I had ZERO recollection of the 'bite to denote marriage' headcanon at the time I decided I wanted Taniks to bite Aeris, so running with the joke was great fun. And then, of course, as soon as you start joking about it is when it becomes serious, so here I am

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

-That it works surprisingly well given the circumstances. Aeris is aromantic, autistic, and a living weapon- he took the 'you are a dead thing made by a dead power in the shape of the dead. All you will ever do is kill' thing that the Witness said to him in the Black Garden waaay too literally, and nothing he had to do ever really disproved that, either. Taniks is undersocialized to the point of being feral, doesn't know what love is, and is only seen as a murderous killing machine by both Eliksni and humans alike, so their character parallels are wayy too fun to play around with. If there was anyone for Taniks to be accidentally married to, then Aeris is probably his best bet. Now he's just gotta get over the fact that Aeris thought it over and actually wants to be tied up with him...gl with that buddy

Also, Aeris has a lot of really, really hard kinks related to his issues with personhood that really only another guardian or someone like Taniks can resolve. And Aeris doesn't get along with other guardians well enough to form a sexual relationship with them, so...Taniks it is then! Works out in the long run anyhow bc of the aformentioned size kink thingy he's got gong on, bc Taniks is a big boy. There's more of a social consequence to the whole ordeal, of course, but Aeris doesn't give a lick of a shit about that

Plus they have the extra fun of 'enemies to...whatever the fuck is going on over there.' 'The only one who can see the humanity in a monster is another monster' sorta deal. Idk they both need therapy for their traumas but they're gonna do it in the most fucknasty gorey way first

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

-See above point about me literally making Aeris and thus being incapable of having an unpopular opinion on a guy very few people know about.

The closest I can come really is that the jokes about him and Taniks getting divorced ain't happenin because uh,,,those bite marks aren't going away any time soon. As in, ever. Idk about Taniks being able to shed them out but Aeris isn't getting out of this one in the slightest

The feeling I got reading it was that Fallout AU Karkat is essentially married to both Dave AND Rose but with Rose it’s not sexual

Karkat and Rose are accidentally my ideal relationship and that was not my intention when I started writing it. but with the benefit of hindsight, i can say pretty confidently that Rose is aromantic and maybe even asexual, and is either using "gay" as a shorthand for "not straight" or she finds women and femininity appealing btu is not compelled towards relationships.

Her relationship with her body and with sex is purely transactional. Sometimes, given she's a hustler in New Vegas, that means there is a dissonance there that is uncomfortable or unpleasant. But also that's not baked into her job as a sex worker. She is perfectly capable of having sex with someone and it being fun and pleasant, but I think if money were no object and she held all of the power she needed to, she just would choose to not have sex. At most, it's a bodily maintenance.

then, there is Karkat. Karkat who is a mark, who comes to understand he is a mark, and who accepts that, who nods and says "yes, and" to the fact the twins are transparently playing him. early on, Rose guesses that Karkat is gay and that's his reason for not wanting to sleep with her. I think of him as bisexual but caring more about romance than arousal and attraction. see his panic flail when Dave kisses him.

over the course of the story, Rose comes to see Karkat as a safe person, which is ludicrous and flies in the face of her modus operandi. rose is only supposed to trust her brother and her adoptive mother, and I'm not even sure about the latter. but Karkat is so predictable, so eager to take commands, so conscious of Rose's safety even though he has zero interest in sex with her, that he becomes a weird safe haven.

Rose flirts with Karkat. She teases him, she pokes him and pulls his tail, she keeps testing and testing, always becoming more confident that Karkat will not swipe back. (when Dave is kidnapped by Gomorrah, rose tacitly offers karkat sex again for his help, and he immediately, wordlessly shuts the offer down)

It's a very blunt and kinda passe way to boil it down but I think Karkat is the only person that Rose would be fully comfortable being stark naked with. There is no chance that he will interpret her advances and flirtation and play as genuine overture. And I don't think Rose has every had that with another person besides her brother.

Which is frankly my dream, because I think other ace ppl will understand this, the always lingering fear of showing affection or having fun with someone, because even if you make it clear you are categorically Not Interested, you are always afraid on some level of being misconstrued.

I actually know what happens after the final chapter of that story, and it's a ridiculous romp in which

Rose manages to bully Karkat into local politics and becomes his right hand, using his cover to do her own work, like starting a sex workers' union out of Karkat's councilor office. also after Dave manages to get preg and goes "yanno. i'm okay with this." it leads to some wild hijinks in which rose and dave swap places basically to provide cover for the whole situation, and karkat having to keep track of them and wrangle them is a whole sitcom situation. also the local gossip around Vineyard is frequently filled with people wondering "what the fuck is councilor vantas doing with those two twins he lives with, they go to the beach together all the time, what is the situation there? eh whatever, they're nice people and the ranger always clears out incoming trouble."

And I think WAYYY too much stuff puts emphasis on romance/sex in many ways and portrays it as "the most important" and/or the "final step" in any friendship. Or even just "Oh? They care about each other? They HAVE to be fucking then!" Friendship being the "final step" of a relationship doesn't make it lesser!

Like, I know I'm kind of weird in how I'm kind of a "If it's not canon, then it's just friends." most of the time but idk, xD I REALLY care about my friends so with the "Friends don't look at each other like that", I'm confused as "I look at friends like that? and there's nothing romantic about it??? What type of friends do you have if you don't look at each other like that???"

And with Menelaus and Odysseus, they're so fun to write about as they're different in personality but they understand each other. I love them both as they're so similar but so different and lksdj (idk I talk about it more here.) Both being hurt by one another with Odysseus' "I pretended to be mad to not help" and Menelaus having the war in the first place, they're hurt but also are thinking "...I would have done the same if I was in your position." As their wives and children are the most important to them. And they both know that while they care about each other,

"You're my dearest friend but my family will always come before you. I don't feel bad about trying to dodge the draft." "Ditto. I don't feel bad about dragging you to help me. Let's go cuddle and cry."

And they get comfort by knowing the other understands that. They both need their time to ramble and cry about their loves and kids. As they ARE lonely and scared. Friendship isn't less meaningful than a romantic/sexual relationship. I also have them as friends since before they got married so their friendship goes way back as well.

I weirdly think there's this sexualization of these guys (especially from Americans tbh) as there's a lot of heavy emphasis on romance in American culture and "touch and deep connection is only reserved for lovers". Odysseus specifically is sexualized a LOT by the fandom. NGL, that kind of gives me Ick™ considering he's a victim of rape eventually, how sexualized he is. Characterize him like that if you want but possibly look into WHY you have that as well. Make sure it's not because of what he went through because I think some creators do that unintentionally.

Personally, I already see Odysseus as not really being into sex in general (I've mentioned before but he's ace CODED in my stuff. He's Penromantic/Pensexual lol) so everything is extremely platonic for him.

Like I sometimes get worried about scenes I wanna write because "will readers make this weird?" when that's not my intention at ALL.

Context: Palamedes said something and Odysseus is drunk and angry and Menelaus is trying to calm things down.

Odysseus scoffed and swayed a bit. Lightweight. "And what about Paris?" He spat. Menelaus snapped. "That is different. He is an enemy-" "AND PALAMEDES ISN'T MINE?!" Odysseus' straining voice hurled itself at him as he was now yelling in Menelaus' face. A baby's wail echoed throughout the camp. The loud little lungs of Greater Ajax's young son, Eurysaces, cried out as he was awoken by loud yelling… The two fathers instinctively whipped towards the sound, stunned still. Odysseus' face, twisted up in anger as tears gushed from his eyes, went slack. The shadow of a woman in the torchlight moved throughout the tent a ways away. Picking up her child, soothing him… It's been so long since Menelaus' has seen his children. Their children. Hermione was 9 and Megapenthes was 5 when Helen was kidnapped. Menelaus used to be able to pick them both up in his arms, lifting them alternatively as they laughed and asked to be taken higher…She was 13 and he was 9 now… Could he still do that? A bush of red-brown pressed against Menelaus' chest, curtaining Odysseus' face as he looked down. "I miss my baby…" he whimpered, leaning on him. "I want my baby…" Menelaus squeezed his friend tightly to him, blinking back tears of his own. Odysseus shook with more sobs. "He's not even a baby anymore but he… He's mine." He weakly slammed a bloody fist into Menelaus' chest and raised his head. "She's not a bitch! ...How could he even call her that…?" Menelaus swallowed a sob, rubbing Odysseus' back.

The Palamedes situation is more complex than this (it's definitely not black and white) but it's a big emotional moment. :')

Well there was only a little unpleasantness at the lakehouse, mostly in the form of thoughtless misgendering. Maybe one or two belligerent ones, but everybody was at least pleasant to me even though I was masc most of the time. Things like my gruncle saying 'you look lovely in that hat—I think hats look so nice on women,' I'm still willing to chalk up to cluelessness. I got to chill with the guys while we admired the McLaren and talked shop and then swim over and chill with the ladies while they talked about cousin drama. Maybe it had something to do with the queer to straight ratio being a little more in my favor than usual, given it's my gay uncles' house and one of my young gay cousins was there too. He was being an obnoxious anti-vaxx kiddo online so we hadn't talked in over a year but he seems to have matured a lot in that time.

My conservative gay uncle does have a point when it comes to the divisiveness of the social media environment. There are a lot of people I can't stand online who are tolerable in person. Is it because they're stripped of the dark power of beaming their most bigoted thoughts at me while I'm drinking my morning coffee? Yeah. Is it because they suddenly can't summon infinite minions to cyberbully me? Probably. Is it because face to face I have the power of being a visibly compassionate and friendly person with an understanding of lots of topical issues that I've studied while they can barely hold a coherent conversation that goes beyond mentioning a post they saw once? Mmhmm. Will anything I explained to them in these conversations actually make them think and change their minds? ....most likely still no, but more likely than when I talked to any of them online, I bet.

I ended up having some surprising conversations with my grandparents and others. My grandpa asked me what I meant by 'queer' so I explained that and then he asked me about being bisexual and 'if there was a website for bisexuals'—honestly not sure if he was hoping for a link or what lol. I explained that I'm actually ace and, you know, explained it all in a grandparent appropriate way. I was shocked that he actually seemed interested. Later my gran started telling me a story about one of her friends having an encounter with a trans woman in a grocery store. She wanted to use it as an example of trans people being unreasonable and angry but I spent the whole story patiently correcting her pronoun use until at the very end she actually started getting it right. Then we had an interesting chat about the prison industrial complex of all things.

It's such an experience talking to conservatives one on one while you're sipping margaritas in a pool. They'll repeat an earworm they got directly from fox news 10-20 years ago and then you just get to go 'that's not true though and here's what's actually going on.' Ad infinitum.

My gruncle asked me what my name means and seemed to appreciate the explanation. "I never even thought about changing my name," he said. "I never liked mine," I said, "and a few years ago I just decided life is too short, you know? To live with discomfort for no reason."

One older cousin got emotional when we talked about how I don't really have a relationship with my parents anymore after coming out. I wonder if she might have been gnc or queer in a different life. She hugged me goodbye after other people in the fam assured me that she wasn't a hugger. Idk, sometimes you just need the right person to hug?

Overall it was a lot easier to spend time with everyone than it has been for me in times past. I didn't feel the urge to flee and hide out in the attic so often. Nobody bullied me. I felt more comfortable taking up space as myself than I used to. They might not believe or understand I'm also a man but that didn't stop me from being one.

Writeblr Introduction Post

So, I figured it was probably time to make a proper writeblr introduction post instead of leaving my ramble about finishing my last WIP up forever.

I'm Panda, I'm in my thirties, I mostly write middle grade to new adult(maybe?) stuff if it's original, fanfiction is more a bit all over the place. I dabble in Sci-Fi and Fantasy, but generally my stuff is set in the real world, or at least adjacent to it. I follow a decent amount of writers, but not really any active middle grade authors, and I definitely see (and love) more fantasy than anything on my dash, so if you're writing realistic fiction or middle grade please interact with this post so I can follow you!

I tend to write about families, the ways they can fall apart and rebuild themselves and all the things in between. I love happy endings, but they aren't always possible-hopeful endings can be.

My Stuff

So, The Buster's a Narc... My finished Fast & Furious AU! When Brian is recruited out of Juvie to go undercover with Toretto's team it changes a lot things. Hurt/Comfort and found family, with a tiny bit of romance between him and Mia(I'm aro/ace, but I tried), and an attempt to deepen characters that I felt had a lot of potential, but got short changed in the actual movies.

Home Is Where The Crankshaft Is My current wip! Mia/Brian Hurt/Comfort, found family, and deals with both past child abuse and current abuse of an adult child to warn you. Also a whole heck of a lot of Brian being torn between the team and his job/sense of right and wrong. It gets angsty. But there will be a happy ending! Because I write what I want to read. Summary below :)

Brian's big challenge today was supposed to be not breaking Vince's nose while helping Mia pick up stuff for a garden project. That was it. Nice and simple. He sure wasn't expecting to see his dad.

Untitled Brian & Vince as half brothers AU. This is a pre-series AU, where neither Brian or Vince know they're related until their dad dumps Brian on Vince when his mother goes to jail. This is going to be my nanowrimo, and it already has a massive outline and a couple test pages. When I shared a small chunk in the comments of Buster, a commenter used the phrase 'platonic slow burn' in response, and that sounds about right, it's not going to be an easy fix with Brian or Vince instantly or quickly getting along. I am really excited about it :)

Superhero 'Series'-an original series, though initially inspired by prompts from @writing-prompt-s and @gingerly-writing. A cartoonish, golden/silver age of comics without the chaff, inspired world, where all the superheroes and villains except a few rebels have two part names (The Charming Gunner, Golden Cricket, The Dapper Daemon, Mighty Mamba...I had fun), superpowers and mad scientist type devices are plentiful, and every powered person(they don't all go into heroics or villainy) has a familiar. Only two stories so far, but a sequel to the first is outlined.

Pinehallow Ranch-Monty, an eleven year old boy who has spent most of his life traveling from place to place with his in-demand lawyer mother, Irene, is sent to live at his uncle's horse ranch because she thinks he needs roots. Used to nearly everyone but his mother not being around long enough to get to know, Monty is more than a bit uncertain about this. But in scrambling to find his place in a town different to anything he's ever known, he finds friends, both human and animal, makes discoveries, and even manages to foil a plot against Pinehallow Ranch itself. (an actual summary!) This story is on hiatus for the moment, but here is a link to a WIP introduction with a bunch of character and some town/location descriptions and if you search #pinehallow ranch you can find a bunch of excerpts/last line tags I shared.

Middle Grade sort-of-suburban fantasy WIP-Wally and his friends aren't pretending to be secret agents, they're practicing for their future careers. Also walkie-talkies make it much easier to alert each other of bully sightings. In this world certain magical animals exist, but they've always been there and aren't too special, some people have powers, but they're almost always pretty mundane-being able to change your own hair color, to hover a few inches off the ground, heal minor injuries, etc. Wally's power is on the extreme end, it lets him sense people with bad intentions-but what a ten year old considers bad intentions, so it's sometimes pinging on his teacher on the day of a pop quiz. In the first of this 'maybe a series' Wally and his best friend Alison are convinced there is something nefarious in the eyes of the class hamster...(inspired by a prompt, but I don't remember from where)

Middle Grade Sci-Fi Wip-inspired by a prompt from @writing-prompt-s. "When Glenn saw the proof, he packed up his little sister and they went.  That was all it took." A story about how sometimes the promise of the unknown, whatever it might be, can be better than what you have. Also a story about two kids getting adopted by aliens that look like a cross between spiders and teddy bears. Only a few pages long so far, but this one calls deeply to my heart and is going to be finished. Probably Novella length.

Aiden's Day-planned future rewrite of an old WIP I started when I was 17. Parts of it have been rewritten many times, and there is still a copy of it up on an old Fictionpress account I can't get into anymore. "Aiden knows his mom had to leave. If she hadn't left town, she was going to leave them permanently. It burns, but he gets it. But he's still a 20 year old drop-out with four siblings he suddenly has sole responsibility for and has to try and feed on a gas station salary. When desperation leads him to reach out to his long absent father, things get complicated." Themes ranging from, 'we get by with a little help from our friends' and 'family is something we make' to suicide, neglect, and religious abuse, and with a definite touch of 'broken doesn't always mean you throw it away'. Angsty and humorous. It was originally written as a diary style novel, and while I don't want to entirely drop that, in this version each chapter would start with a diary entry rather than it being solely that. (I had the man grocery shopping with three teenagers and he was writing in his diary while doing it. My only excuse is that it was very, very fun to write, and I was very young.)

I did not enjoy the people watching this live for the most part because they kept insulting Dew and P. But whoever commented on the turtle necks is so right. Turtle necks and heavy looking coats and hoodies and it's probably 90 degrees outside. Maybe the AC is cold.

He's going to bathe his stuffed animal???????????? No one comments, but I think Earth and Achi were giving some questioning looks there.

Ahh so Most also got the nod. Remember when Most and Peek were at the bottom in the first ranking. Wait, did they have a second ranking? Or did they just award winners for games after that?

I'm glad they clarified that Peek just happened to be doing Pond's job for him. I thought for a second maybe Pond told him to rile Achi up like that.

This whole exchange was super cute. I guess I like how this ended. Pan and Nott ended in an established relationship. Bew and Gus ended on the hope of a relationship in the future (I think? I'm still too scared to watch the last episode. I don't really like endings that aren't fully happy.) Peek and Kla ended at the beginning of their relationship. I still wish we had more of their background though.

Good for them, getting a series. Although, what is that hair on Peek?

I'm excited for Toru and First's chemistry for the next episodes, but I'm nervous about the story. I don't like cheating plot lines. Honestly, I think it would've been more interesting for Most and Peek to actually have won Y-Idol, and then Achi and Most's story could revolve around how to navigate a relationship when your fictional ship is broken up and you're shipped with other people. But oh well. It looks like Earth and Korn might be in next episode, which would be nice. And Dew and P. But I'm not getting my hopes up that we'll learn anything about them :( I am confused why Most says they can pair themselves up or whatever he says. Because wasn't that the whole point of the Y-Idol thing? And what's going on in this screenshot?

My total was actually about $50 less than the estimate cuz it didn't take as long in labor hours & the part they'd ordered was a little cheaper than the one they'd originally planned, which was out of stock... I mean, obviously, it's an adjustment for me because I'm used to paying $35-40/hr directly to the mechanic, instead of shelling out $143/hr to a shop (other places charge even more, though not much more)—but if I'm going to go to a shop, then these guys are worth it... And we know shit happens w/my fellow Eastern-European immigrant mechanic sort of guys—like, either they become personally unavailable for an extended period of time, or they install a fucking EGR valve that's cheaper than that water bottle I almost bought today & then refuse to acknowledge the possibility that they may have fucked up—I mean, that was *quite* a saga, which did eventually get much more expensively fixed by those same Earl's Garage guys... But those guys were just a delight today—they actually brought out that Jane dog right after 4 to hang out w/me in the lobby because Tim said to Jack (the mechanic who I think did work on Celestine & whose dog it is), "Yeah she wants to see her," even though he was just reading me, I wasn't requesting it out loud... And then Jack had a seat & was telling me how actually common it is for Huskies to have two differently colored eyes, one brown & one blue, though Jane's eyes are both brown because she's only half Husky, & the other half Lab... Then, he said, for a cat it's unusual to have two different eyes, after which he pointed out that Tim has that too—but Tim said, actually, his eyes are just two colors w/in the same eye, but not two differently colored eyes... "Oh that's right, I saw that," Jack said, "when I gazed deeply into your eyes"... And I was like, "Well, you guys do work at a place that's very conducive to male bonding"—and Jack goes, "Well, they don't call it Earl's Gay-rage for nothing"—which kind of blew me away (I mean, for a car shop), so I said, "Well, that's nice that you guys are comfortable talking that way"—because it was kind of a natural moment, you know—and they were both, like, totally nonchalantly, "Oh yeah, we don't care, we're totally cool with that"... It's just amazing how different work places that do the same sort of thing can have such different internal cultures (it's the same w/my job as well)—cuz at that other Ace shop it's a totally different vibe... I mean, I don't know how they feel about the whole "gay thing"—but I know that just handing my car keys to this one dude that one time when I had a flat tire (on Luca's birthday; and today is also my half-birthday) made me feel like he was condescendingly smirking at me for no other reason than that I must be female; I mean, I can't imagine any other reason he would look down on me in that context—sure, I did say "sorry about the mess" & grabbed a bag of groceries before I headed out, but that doesn't really warrant a look of condescension, does it?... It's like, seriously, man—get the fuck over it, a half of us are female & most of us do drive & own cars, and that has been the case for quite some time... There's nothing about what we just did that warrants that kind of attitude on your part... Yes, people get flat tires—that's not unusual; and plenty of us, both male & female, need other ppl's help to install new ones—so what exactly is it in this context that makes you feel you're so much better than me?... (I digress, but I just don't get people sometimes... Speaking of which, & on a totally different note—it's amazing how many people out there on the streets behave as if they're actually talking to someone when, in fact, they're not talking to anyone that anyone else can see—today I saw at least two very prominent examples of it... It's very Cittàgazze—but what really drives me nuts is that a person who's yelling at someone who's supposedly standing in front of them, never fucking shuts up to let that other invisible person talk; if I were that ghost, I'd be seriously annoyed...)

Hi idk if your writing rn but if you are how about Reader who fully believes that they're going to go back home after a certain amount of time.

The reader believes that as long as the vampires realize we aren't going to rat them out to other humans once we get out that we're free to go home. That about the only thing that's keeping their sanity in check.

So when things happen they just respond with "it's fine. Once I'm home anyways I can forget all about this." pretty often. It helps them power thought that they won't be stuck walking on eggshells for the rest of their life worrying about being murdered just about every straight line or turn.

They're mostly nice and stay out of everyone's way unless they really need to put their foot down. So though the time they stayed they kinda became everyone's friend in hopes of just being able to have an easier time until they realize they're no threat and can go home.

Ace:

Ace makes snippy comments that might upset you, but he really can’t help it when he hears about how you want to leave them.

He feels a bit betrayed, more so by how casual you seem about leaving. He knows your situation isn’t ideal, but Ace feels like you should be willing to deal with it for them.

For a long time, it was just him and Deuce. Now that they’ve made the effort to include you and Epel in their lives, it truly feels like a bit of a slap in the face to him.

Ace doesn’t consider that he’s more frustrated than he should be that someone who’s just a friend is leaving, but all he can preoccupy himself with now is trying to shut you down when you make comments like that.

He’ll mock you, with a laughing tone like it’s just a joke and not your future, about how it would really be impossible for a human like you to escape from a practically ancient vampire like Lilia.

He does feel guilty when he sees you upset, but he doesn’t necessarily feel like his statement was incorrect, even if it was harsh.

With Deuce’s help, he will try to make it up to you in his own way, by finding fun things for all of you to do, which he hopes will help distract you from your problems and from wanting to go home.

Deuce:

Deuce feels similarly upset like Ace, but he is much less angry and much more sad. He knows you don’t owe them anything, and that your friendship has probably just been one of convenience do you, but he still hoped that you might care more than it seemed.

He already does all he can to help you make your life more comfortable around the mansion, from making your bed if he sees you’ve forgotten or (attempting) to cook you a dish you’ve mentioned in passing that you miss from home.

Deuce will eventually have a talk with you about how he’s feeling, not wanting to bottle it up and end up resenting you when he knows you don’t deserve it.

He knows the conversation is uncomfortable, but he’ll force himself to tell you how your words upset him. You reassure him that you do truly care about him, and all the others, but you can’t live sanely knowing that it isn’t truly safe for you here, and that you don’t have the freedom that you should.

He does come to understand, he knows you feel trapped and that it isn’t them. He’ll still miss you, and it’s not a small part of him that wishes you could stay, but Deuce wants you to be happy, and he’ll let you go with his full support if that’s what you truly want.

Epel:

Epel might just be the most hurt by this. Sure he understands, you have a real home to go back to, but is it really that easy for you to leave him?

You’ve become his best friend here, and he thought you felt the same in that aspect at the very least.

He’ll definitely become grumpy when he hears you saying you want to leave and that you’ll forget about everything. That everything includes him, doesn’t it?

Epel will actively discourage you from leaving, even if his tactics are questionable at best.

If when he gets desperate, he’ll start organizing times for you all to spend together, ensuring you have a good time before popping the question on you: isn’t it great here? Don’t you never wanna leave?

While he does want to make you see how the life you could have at the mansion wouldn’t be so bad, he doesn’t shy away from leaning into any guilt you might be feeling, laying on the tears if he needs to.

You might start to get the feeling that Epel is acting strange, really not like himself sometimes, but if you bring it up he’ll tell you that he can’t help the way he’s been feeling knowing you’re going to leave them.

If Epel reaches a point where you leaving is a real possibility and not just your daydream, he’ll resort to extreme measures to keep you with them. Getting you in trouble with Lilia isn’t something he wants to do, but he needs you, so you can’t leave him just yet.

Epel would eventually snap out of his delusion after he sees how he’s been making you suffer, and realize how living here is affecting you. He always knew his wishes were selfish, but when he finally realizes the real danger you’re in at the mansion, he knows keeping you here would be more than cruel.

He doesn’t lose hope in your future together, rather this shifts his idea to one he actually likes even more. The two of you, away from the mansion and all the other vampires seeking your attention, and finally living together like a real couple.

Jack:

Jack can’t lie and say he wouldn’t miss you, but ultimately he knows that you hate being trapped here. He isn’t delusional like Epel.

He’s sympathetic to your plight, and he won’t say anything to object when you voice your beliefs about returning home.

He’ll try to play along with your thoughts, asking questions about what you’ll do when you’re back home. Jack can tell it distracts you from your reality, and he knows that’s something you could always use, even for a few moments.

He would never dream of asking you to stay, knowing that you would never truly be safe around this many vampires.

If he had romantic feelings for you, he would certainly push them down. Even if they were reciprocated, Jack could never justify keeping you in danger for his own person gain.

Jack would even go against Lilia and help you escape if you asked him. Even if he gets punished, if you’re safe and happy, he’s happy.

Sebek:

Sebek is stuck between “good riddance, now you’ll no longer have a chance to seduce and hurt Malleus” and “how dare you make Malleus sad by leaving”.

Both of these sentiments just cause him to be angry at you, and you’ll find that his verbal lashings are more harsh and frequent than usual.

Living at the mansion this long, you’ve already learned to tune him out, which frustrates Sebek even further.

Although you’re wise enough to not make comments about going home in front of Lilia, Sebek wouldn’t think twice about complaining to him about you.

He doesn’t do it out of malice, Sebek really just wants advice from Lilia, but he does unintentionally get Lilia to keep a closer eye on you, in case you decide to try and leave before he’s deemed you safe.

He ultimately doesn’t really understand why you even want to leave. Lilia is no threat as long as you do what he says, and Malleus is here so why would you ever want to leave?

Lilia will eventually make up an excuse to try and soothe Sebek, telling him that you might be having conflict with some of the residents which has caused you to want to leave, and accidentally convincing him that he’s the one making you want to leave.

Sebek will never tell you that he wants you to stay (he hasn’t quite figured that out himself) but he will make an effort to stop saying negative things to you, meaning that he just doesn’t say much at all in your presence. After all, he knows what your friendship means to Malleus, and he couldn’t let himself be the reason for his unhappiness.

Sure, it doesn’t hurt him to enjoy being met with your kindness after ceasing to vilify you for being human. But it’s not for him, it’s for Malleus’ sake that he’s playing nice. Right?

You were going through what might’ve been the worst week of your life. After going through several overblots, a dilapidating dorm, extremely cruel tests from Crewel, and Ace and Deuce continuing to pull you into their tricks you couldn’t help but feel yourself losing track. You were trying to make it out of this world that you were suddenly dropped into but it seemed near impossible to juggle everything that was being thrown at you. 

That was why Azul kept asking the tweels to look after you. 

They followed you in the hallways, always seemed to sit near you during lunch, and sometimes it felt like their eyes were on you when you locked the door behind you in Ramshackle.

Azul had not only set them up to follow you because he wanted to make a contract with you, but also because he was too shy to ask you out. Of course, he would never admit this, but he couldn’t help feel his stomach do flips when he saw you in the hallways. He wanted to be close to you, but there was no way you would approach an octopus like him without some kind of contract. Yes, that would be how he would convince you to join him. 

“They keep following us, is this because of everything that happened with Riddle and Leona?” Grim asked, climbing on top of the couch in the dorm. You set your books down and sat next to him. 

“I’m not sure, but I just don’t want to be near them at all. It doesn’t help that I feel like they're targeting me and not you,” you say, massaging your temples. Crewel had warned the entire class about another test, this time worth 15% of the grade. It seemed like he was taking a midterm exam, but he said it was just “practice for the real deal.” 

Little did you know about the students that would cause you more troubles in the future when they decided to make a deal with the sea devil himself.

“You seem to be having trouble, y/n,” you heard the smooth talking eel from behind you in the botanical garden. You rolled your eyes, he had to be here too?

“I’m fine, I’m just trying to figure out which plants I might need to review for the test,” you reply, trying to pack your notes in your bag as quickly as you could so you could flee.

“You know, if you need help on the test, there’s a way to get more help than you’re getting from textbooks,” Jade stepped a bit closer to you, his smile not reaching his eyes. “Thanks but no thanks, I can handle it,” you shake your head, giving him a quick smile to reassure him before swinging yourself to the exit. Until you collided with a tall body that is.

“Eeh, leaving already when we got here?” It had to be Floyd here too huh.

“What do you want now?” you ask him, crossing your arms. 

“Oh, I’m just here to see you again, shrimpy. Besides, I think you’re more squeezable than when I first met you! C’mon, don’t be afraid,” he smiled, too close for comfort as well as he wrapped his arms around you.

“H-hey, I need to go,” you tried to shake him off but he seemed unmoveable. 

“Like I said, they're hopeless,” Jade said to his twin from behind you. You were cornered. 

“I know, that’s why I think they need to see Azul,” Floyd replied, rocking you back and forth. You sighed, wanting him to let go of you, thankfully he wasn’t tightening his grip. 

“I’ll think about it, okay? Now let me go!” you interrupted them, trying to jump out. 

“Ah, you’re no fun when you’re like that,” Floyd pouted, he gave you a quick squeeze before letting go. “But you did promise to think about it, okay Shrimpy? See you soon~!”

You ran as quickly as you could from the two eels who were snickering as you dashed out. 

You couldn’t meet Azul, he was a menace! You heard from Riddle how much of an issue he was to the school. Not only was he extremely smart, but he also knew how to manipulate the student body along with the useless headmaster. 

You didn’t believe it at first, but you could only sigh in frustration when you saw the results after the hard test. 

“I’m not even in the top fifty,” you mutter, but you hear Ace and Deuce panicking. “Oh no! We’re breaking it!” Deuce shouted at Ace. 

“Breaking what?” you asked, crossing your arms. 

“Wait, you did it too?” Ace pointed at Deuce in disbelief. Then Grim also looked shocked. 

“Oh no.”

“Oh no you did not,” you replied to all three of them and before you knew it, something had grown out of their heads. 

You soon found yourself with Jack and having to plan out a way to get your poor friends out of this situation. The two of you had been kicked out of the Mostro Lounge the first time you attempted to fix Ace, Deuce, and Grim’s ordeal but this time you went in with Jack to make a contract with Azul to free them. Jade and Floyd were happy to greet you again, but you just rolled your eyes when Jade smiled at you with a mean glow in his eyes. “I told you Azul would help you with all your needs,” Jade said.

“I’m here to just ask him something, nothing more,” you respond quickly. But somehow, Ace came by and asked for your help.

“You should help us out, we’ve been working our asses off since six in the morning!” he cried, and Grim jumped on your shoulder. “Yeah, I practically smell of dish soap!” Grim added on. 

You ended up listening to them because Jack was too good of a student and you found yourself carrying multiple drinks to different tables. 

“My my, working so hard?” A smooth voice came from behind you. You quickly turned your head to see the man himself. 

Azul Ashengrotto.

“It seems you’re in need of help, perhaps you are in distress?” he smiled, he had the audacity to smile after all of the shit he was forcing on the students. 

“Look,” you set down the drinks on the right tables and looked him straight in the eyes. 

“I’m a damsel,” you started, rolling your eyes. “I’m in distress. I can handle this,” then, you walked by him quickly, motioning to Jack that you’re done with your work and that the two of you should head out. “Have a nice day!”

With that, you set down the tray and walked out with Jack following close by. 

Azul just smiled politely at you, but he could feel his heartbeat quicken. He wanted to rush to you, take you by his tentacles if need be to keep you with him. He loved that independence, that confidence that you had. It was something he didn’t have. But he would have to wait, wait for the right moment to make you his. You seemed to want to come back to make a deal with him, so might as well keep waiting. Besides, the slower you take things, the better it is, right?

Sometimes I envy those who automatically are able to understand and identify their sexuality, like gay men who have always had crushes on fellow guys from childhood, or lesbians who looked at the pretty girl at the playground and wanted to kiss her, because for me every step of my sexuality has been due to honest curiosity of how something works and research.

Like I started out thinking I was straight and simply did not develop crushes much on people. Then I got into a relationship with a man and I got to have sex, I got to experience romance with this beautiful person who just goddamn listened to me, truly listened unlike most of the other people in my life.

But I got to a point where I didn't understand why we always ended up having sex. I had points where I'd look at this beautiful, wonderful man and I wouldn't find anything physically attractive about him despite wanting to have sex with him. I got to the point where I didn't understand why we couldn't just kiss. I got to the point where I had satisfied my curiosity about what sex was and so didn't have much of an interest in repeating the same experiment over and over and over again.

It wasn't until I read stories that had demisexual characters, stories where I realized that an Ace person isn't just someone who doesn't sleep with people, isn't someone who just never finds someone attractive, isn't an emotionless, non sexual robot, and I got it. This label made sense, this label explained parts of me that were so natural to me.

Then the more and more I read I realized, if I can have sex and a relationship with a man despite not finding anything other than the bond we have sexually attractive, what is the difference between thinking the girl with green hair at the store is pretty and not wanting to kiss her from the guy jogging without a shirt on that sure is nice to look at but also doesn't make me want to kiss him.

I'd never stopped to consider females as a potential interest of mine because despite having dreams about kissing my best girl friend (the space is intentional) I didn't automatically want to sleep with all the girls around me, so those were obviously just dreams and not my sexual attraction.

Some soul searching and more research later I realized I am Biromantic, I've just never allowed or looked for the emotional bond I'd need to develop with other girls before because since I so infrequently got crushes or even cared about dating and no one around me wanted me to consider girls as a dating interest it didn't seem like something that was even possible.

But I couldn't be Aromantic, because I had dated. I did have the desire to eventually get married and I knew what romantic attraction felt like -

Or I thought I did, until I dated my second boyfriend. He'd been a long time friend, he was a great guy, he had so many common interests, he was even a really, really sweet romantic! But I just, I never felt the spark. I could hug him, I could talk to him all day, I could have dates at museums and just have such a great time- but if you asked me if I wanted to kiss him, if you asked me if I wanted to marry this man, if you asked me if I ever felt the need to sleep with this man, the answer was no, it would always be no. Some of these things weren't even things I realized I was even feeling at the beginning of our relationship, but they were what eventually caused us to break up.

Cue my realization that I was somewhere on the Aromantic spectrum. More time spent looking up definitions and labels and reading others experiences and I realized, Demiaros exist too.

So now I have many labels, many sides and ways to express myself. I'm Aroace constantly but especially when I'm comfortable with my own existence. I'm Demisexual but Cupioromantic when I'm looking for a relationship. I'm Demiromantic if I'm just looking to hook up. I'm a Biromantic Ace if I'm looking for that special someone to bond with.

They're all me though, and I honestly love the variety. I love being able to describe myself in so many different ways. I love being able to share the knowledge, and the researching and the soul searching behind knowing this, but sometimes I envy the ability to just say I'm gay, and not need to explain, to yourself, or to anyone else what that means.
