Wholesome headcanon when Damian Wayne moved in with his father.

Damian Wayne tries to sleep, but wakes up and smacks his tongue against the roof of his mouth.

Damian: Hm, I need water.

Damian gets out of his bed and walks to the kitchen where he finds his brother eating cookies.

Damian: Hi father.

Bruce: Hello... Son. Why are you up late?

Damian walks to the fridge.

Damian: I needed water. I'm thirsty.

Bruce: Oh okay, I'll get a glass.

Bruce gets a glass as Damian brings over a pitcher of water. Bruce pours water into the glass. Damien takes a sip.

Damian: What you eating?

Bruce: Oreos.

Damian: They're sandwich cookies.

Bruce: Yeah, Oreos. Have you never tried them?

Damian: Grandfather didn't care for sweets. I never ate cookies or cakes, he said it would hinder being an assassin.

Bruce: He's not here now, I am and I'm your... Father, but you can call me dad or whatever I'm not forcing it, but um you can have sweets. Starting with this Oreo.

Bruce holds out an Oreo to his son. Damian takes it and bites it. He smiles.

Damian: This is delicious and crunchy like a celery stick, but doesn't taste like weird water.

Bruce: Yep that's a good definition. Would you... Like to eat more with me?

Damian: Hm...

Damian takes a sip from glass of water.

Damian: Yes. Yes I would.

Damian grabs a chair and brings it to the counter, he steps on it and holds out his hand. Bruce happily passed him cookies.

Damian: Can you tell me what other sweets I can eat?

Bruce: I can have Alfred make some samples for you.

Damian: That's nice of you to do, father. I think I'm going to like it here.

Bruce: I bribed you with sweets... that's a good start.

Damian: I mean I ate celery for my dessert back with my mother. You gave me Oreos, so you're doing pretty good.

Bruce smiles, dipping his cookie in the milk glass he has. Damian reaches over with his cookies and does so as well.

Bruce finds Tim on the floor and rushes to see if he’s okay. Damian says he did it because Tim is his rival and not Bruce’s real son. Tim tells Bruce he’s fine but that Damian did something to Alfred. Alfred is fine and starts attending to Tim’s injuries. Damian is desperate to prove himself and gives information on Talia to Bruce. (Batman #658)

ok everyone take this with a grain of salt but hear me out:

it’s different with Damian. It is. Not closer, not better. He’s not more Bruce’s son, no matter what he says, but it is different. It’s been decades since bruce has recognized a piece of himself in someone else’s face. Damian reminds him that his mother had eyebrows that quirked up at the end and his father had ears that went out to the sides just a bit. he forgot what they’d even been arguing about when Damian made a face so hauntingly familiar it was like seeing a mirror. and he’s not more his son, in a lot of ways it’s even more complicated because he shares Damian in a way that he’s never had to with his other kids, even Tim.

but it’s different. And Bruce doesn’t know what to do with that.

Summary: Crossing his ankles propped on the table, jostling his helmet next to him, his mouth quirked up. “At least I’m not you, who sees the idiot as some sort of pseudo father figure.”

Dick choked on his coffee, and Damian sputtered and took a step back. “What?!”

“You heard me.” He thumbed in the direction of Dick, who clumsily tried to mop up the hot liquid staining his shirt and scalding his skin with a crusty dishrag that smelled like mildew. “You see him in a way you don’t your own dear old dad.”

Damian’s cheeks darkened in a deep flush that even reddened the tips of his ears. “You don’t know what you’re talking about!”

After Bruce's return to the Bat, Dick and Damian have to deal with just being brothers, but things are just a bit too messy to be that easy

My Opinion: Damian & Dick tag with Dick Grayson is Damian Wayne's parent. What more could you ask for?

This fic does a good job of exploring the complex relationship of Dick with Damian. He is his dad and his brother and his Batman but also not anymore. And throw Bruce into the mix, with the added guilt of it all. It's just *chef's kiss*

I really love fics that explore this dynamic and I'm shocked to see this is the first Dick & Damian fic i have recommended. but not the last one!
