i already knew about o’shae sibley’s murder, but saw a tiktok about o’shae saying that we shouldn’t just know about him, we should mourn him. and for me, mourning is remembering all the good things about them, how happy they make people, what they bring to the world. essentially, honour their memory. so i went to see what his friends and family said about him, and it was heartbreaking. they loved him so much, the cruelty of all this is just so overwhelming. justice for o’shae sibley

Righteous Torrence 'Chevy' Hill was a 35 year old Black Trans Man who was murdered in Atlanta, Georgia last week.

He was the owner of an LGBTQ salon, meant to give Black/Queer folks a safe place to just be.

He was a father, a brother, a son, a friend.

His story is not getting nearly enough attention.

A black trans woman was on her way to a gender affirming care appointment when her at the time boyfriend pushed her onto the subway tracks. She has had the lower parts of both her legs amputated.

The call scripts linked below were originally for Congressional representatives, but now that the bill is in committee consideration by Senate Commerce, you should call your Senators instead and you can use the scripts for them. Also, when calling your Democrat senators, make sure to add that Senator Blackburn explicitly stated in interview that it would be used to "protect children from the transgender." I think it's pretty clear that this is not meant to protect children. It's just going to harm children further, especially trans children.

(For those who are not aware: KOSA is a bill that will give the government a ridiculous amount of power over the Internet. It will make you unable to access the Internet without uploading your ID. It will also limit your access to human rights issues [homophobia, transphobia, slavery/racism, abortion etc.]. It says it's to protect children's mental health but it's not! It's all about control.)

The fact that she sums up being Black as cornrows and Motown offers great insight into why in Harry Potter she gave her only Irish character the name Seamus Finnegan, the most notable Black character Kingsley Shacklebolt and the only East Asian character Cho Chang. Part of me wants to engage with this line of thinking and explain why race and gender are structurally very different despite both being social constructs and then I remember that none of these people actually care about that shit.
