Do you think Dick ever, in his early days as Robin, scared a criminal that punched him, by using the fact that he still had baby teeth?
Just, imagine the situation:
Dick has a baby tooth that is about to fall, which is normal considering he is still a small child.
He's outside as Robin, in the middle of a fight.
So, a thief, thug, or any helper of a villain, is in a fight with him, the guy is still hesitant to hit a child, even if said child is just beating him up.
Then, out of pure luck, he lands a blow to the boy's jaw.
Dick immediately steps back, more than because of the punch, it is simply to get distance, but then, he feels his baby tooth come loose, and he immediately spits it out, with a little blood, of course.
For less than half a second, Dick considers just throwing it away and moving on, but notices just in time the horrified face of the guy he's fighting.
And Dick just knows he simply can't miss the opportunity.
What does he do? He starts crying.
And the poor guy who was fighting him knows he's extremely screwed when he doesn't even need to turn around to know he's got bat-dad behind him.

From an Aussie, gothamites lie about their city as much aussies do about Australia about every little thing, from having bats as pets to telling everyone that Batman doesn’t exist even when he has been seen with the justice league.
Metropolian: so do you have any pets?
Gothamite: yea I have two bats, Mortricia and Gomez
Metropolian: you named your bats after adams family? You have bats as pets??
Gothamite: Ofc? They are the gothic icons
—
Metropolian: dude those gargoyles are scary as hell
Gothamite: nah they’re chill, just don’t sneeze on ‘em they hate that
Metropolian: I’m sorry what?
Gothamite: yea they get super annoying and screech all night
Metropolian: they’re statues?? They’re statues… right???
Gothamite: eh…
Everyone is so confused on what’s true or false, they’ll know if you’re not from Gotham, and they will all unite to gaslight this poor unfortunate non-gothamite
“people in gotham would know batman is real” “he can’t be an urban legend cause he’d be caught on camera” “people could just ask someone in gotham if they’ve seen him” have u considered that gothamites enjoy lying.
#Martha and Thomas Wayne are Gotham’s Steve irwin#don’t disrespect steve irwin unless you want a flock of aussies after you#non-gothamite: *insults Martha and Thomas*#gothamites: *screeching from the distance as a war battle cry*#Batman#robin#gothamites refuse to acknowledge Robin exist#half of the city has talked to Robin#and they love him#but it’s an unspoken agreement that robin just doesn’t exist

Fish Are Friends Not Abominations
The entire Justice League have been on edge lately watching as a giant creature the size of planet dart around the Milky Way galaxy in an almost panicked state. Despite it's very appearent size it hasn't done anything harmful, passing through planets and stars with intangibility.
Constantine on the other hand was freaking the fuck out. There was a giant realms being with a crazy amount of power searching for something and it felt like the universe itself was holding its breath. He was honestly at his witts end when he felt it.
"YOU! What do you have?" He stopped his pacing to look at Batman's traffic light child.
"That's none of your concern." Robin snapped back.
"Robin." Batman's voice cut through their little conversation. By now every JL memeber was watching them.
"It's nothing–"
"Oh yes it is, now let me see it."
As if on que a tiny glowing humanoid creature popped into view ontop of Robin's head cooing and making warbled noises.
Constantine paled.
Robin took the being from his head and held it in his arms, pulling out a batarang and giving it to the thing which then began to bite it.
"Robin." Batman started, voice firm but sounding tired.
"This one found me first." He countered.
"It doesn't matter how you found it, we need to–" Constantine's words were cut off as the large creature released a noise that sounded almost like a whale but something like warbled speech mixed into it. What happened next sent his heartbeat into a marathon and his stomach to a deep trench.
Robin's little creature stopped chewing on its toy and responded with a cry of its own.
Welp! They were fucked now.
The large creature's head snapped to their direction, eyes directly on the watchtower as if it could perfectly see them from such a distance and sped towards their location.

I want to rewrite Jason’s initial Red Hood arc soooo bad.
First off, Hood is brought on not as a villian but as a vigilante same as Batman. Only he comes in the a message. He declares that Batman is a coward and not fit to protect Gotham.
Batman tries to communicate with him to try and work something out, because so far Hood’s doing good work. So if he just can figure out Hood’s gripe with him, they could team up. Of course Jason says cryptic shit to get under Bruce’s skin. At one point Tim!Robin tries to talk to him, but this seems to strike a nerve. Hood pulls a gun on Robin and threatens him to leave or he will kill him. Tim isn’t even supposed to be talking to Hood alone so he leaves, not wanting to risk a fight.
Batman and Hood are tense around each other, but overall civil. Until Red Hood makes his first kill.
It was a CEO or some higher up in a company. He all but admitted to some terrible crime, but Bruce Wayne was attempting to get him life in prison before he was found dead in his cell. The kill was claimed by Red Hood and he criticizes Batman for allowing a guilty man to potentially be let off the hook via expensive lawyers.
This starts causing some friction between them and Batman starts really investigating Hood. Things are getting heated and more personal with Hood, as he’s started to alluding to knowing Batman’s secret identity. Eventually, it becomes obvious that Red Hood is Jason Todd.
Batman goes to confront him, but Jason decides to make it super dramatic because of course he does. And leads Bruce all around Gotham before settling on a warehouse. There, Joker is tied up, beaten to the brink of death, a bloody crowbar on the ground infront of him. Jason holds a gun to Jokers head, keeping Bruce at a safe distance.
Jason then preforms his monologue. About how he never blamed Bruce for his death, even in his last moments. But how he couldn’t understand how Bruce could let him live. He gestures to Joker. And he could never forgive Bruce for letting another Robin on the streets. Not after what happened to him.
Bruce tries to talk Jason down. At one point he says “come home, son.” Which enrages Jason. He immediately shoots the Joker point blank and turns the gun to Batman.
“Will you forgive me,” He asks, as Joker lies dead on the floor, “Now that you’ve seen your ‘son’ kill without a second thought, abandon your morals when it’s convenient for you? Or will you ship me off to Arkham? Bury me away like the rest of your problems?”
Bruce slowly starts walking forward. Jason’s finger immediately grips the trigger. “Don’t move or I shoot!” He tries to be intimidating, but his voice quivers.
Bruce only stops when the barrel of the gun is pressed to his chest. He knows Jason wouldn’t shoot him. Even if he does, Bruce would understand. Maybe he even deserves it. He slowly brings his hands up to Jason’s helmet. Jason is frozen in shock as Bruce pulls it off gently and drops it to the ground. He cups Jason’s face so gently, even with his thick gloves. He pulls off his own mask, revealing his eye’s brimming with tears. They seem older and more tired than Jason remembers.
“My boy…” Bruce cries. Probably the only tears Jason seen him cry.
And Jason wants nothing more than to fall into Bruce’s arms. Allow himself to be cradled, warm and safe in Bruce’s arms. It only lasts for a moment, until he remembers the hate he has for Bruce. And he hates himself for going soft for just that moment.
He pulls out a smoke bomb from his belt and disappears before Bruce’s very eyes.
Months go past and Hood is mostly quiet, except for the few prevented robberies. Bruce doesn’t actively seek out Jason, or maybe he does idk doesn’t matter just at one point, Jason kills someone and it turns out they were being framed. Bruce knew this and captures the actual suspect and gets him arrested. News spreads about Hood’s kill streak was soured by murdering an innocent man.
A few days later, Jason shows up in the manor. He looks like he hasn’t slept at all. Bruce doesn’t say anything as he pulls him into a hug. Jason cries into his shoulder.
Bruce doesn’t let go.
But tbh I haven’t thought super hard about this. The motivations need to be figured out more. I just kinda like the thought of Jason trying to be morally better than Bruce to teach him a lesson.

Tim: Nightwing. Again don’t call me-you know what? Nevermind. What’s the problem?
Dick: I need you to send me my location, I got kidnapped overseas.
Tim: Red Hood too.

Tim: …..
Jason: Since when are the guards nice-looking?
Dick: Little Wing, when you get kidnapped as often as I do, you get to pick and choose who you like.
Tim: Not getting into that mess but how’d you know Jason’s coordinates?
Dick: Older Sibling’s Intuition!
Tim and Jason: Bullshit.
Tim: Anyway, I’ll send Batman to pick you up.
Dick: Wait, no, Batman will bring Robin and little D just went over to J-Superboy’s house to play video games.
Tim: ….Okay, then I’ll send Batgirl.
Dick: No Batgirl’s throwing it back at a frat party so don’t bother her. She’s winning.
Tim: Orphan.
Dick: No she’s busy dismantling an underground mercenary establishment in Shanghai.

Dick: Nah, enjoy your date with your golden teddy bear tonight. It’s also a bit of a distance to go from Gotham to Metropolis to pick up your other one.
Tim: OKAY HOW DO YOU KNOW EVERYONE’S LOCATION BUT YOUR OWN?!

Jason: *muffled* did he just “Tee Hee?”
Tim: ….where are the kidnappers, I gotta rescue them.

Broken Mugs, Unbreakable Bonds
Wayne Manor… One of the most serious, disciplined homes in Gotham.
Well, it used to be.
That was before you moved in.
You — clumsy, chaotic, and somehow always in the wrong place at the wrong time — but with the kindest heart anyone had ever seen. Bruce rescued you during a mission and brought you in as a “temporary guest.”
That “temporary” stay turned into a year. Then two. And before anyone could realize it, you were just... part of the family.
---Your first day---
Alfred handed you a cup of tea. You smiled gratefully — and promptly bumped your elbow on the table.
The cup tumbled and shattered on the floor. Damian scrunched his nose in disapproval.
“Incredible. This person is a walking hazard.”
But Dick just chuckled and patted your shoulder.
“Relax. You’re not the first one to spill tea here. Jason once blew up the kettle.”
From the other room, Jason yelled, “IT WAS AN EXPERIMENT!”
---One time during Robin’s training…---
You accidentally opened the training room door mid-session — and stumbled inside.
Damian, mid-flip, caught a glimpse of you and miscalculated slightly. He landed with a tiny stumble. Eyes locked on you.
“Are you serious? Do you live to sabotage me?”
You blinked, looking like you might cry. Damian sighed, put away his sword, and walked over.
“Alright. Don’t cry. Next time… just knock. Or I will lock you in the Batcave.”
---Jason and You---
Jason kept his distance at first. “Great, another klutz. Just what this house needed.”
Then one day, you accidentally knocked his backpack into the garden. Books, notes, and an old t-shirt spilled out. He found you trying to clean it all up, near tears.
He paused.
“That shirt was falling apart anyway. Not your fault.”
But when he saw you had already ordered a new copy of his book, he ruffled your hair and muttered,
“Okay, maybe you’re not completely hopeless, bookworm.”
---Dick---
Dick was your #1 defender from the beginning. Once, when you tripped on the stairs, he literally caught you mid-air.
“You’re like a walking stress test for this house,” he joked, holding you effortlessly.
You got so flustered telling him a story, you knocked over the vase on the table.
Dick laughed so hard he almost fell over himself.
“Look at you. Breaking everything and still being the most loved person in this house.”
---Even Bruce…---
He was distant at first. Cold. Watching.
Then one day, while he was deep in mission reports at the Batcomputer, you quietly left soup beside him and slipped away.
He stared at it for a moment. Then whispered,
“Thank you.”
And when you were gone, he mumbled to himself:
“This one’s ours now.”
---The End (But not really)---
With all your clumsiness, chaos, and accidental chaos… you became part of the Batfamily.
Damian rolled his eyes, but kept an eye on you.
Jason mock-complained, but grumbled if you were late to movie nights.
Dick always had your back.
And Bruce — well, he learned that sometimes, love isn’t loud. It’s soup left at a desk in silence.
Even Alfred?
He’d already considered you family from day one.
Because sometimes, the biggest hero isn't the one who fights crime.
Sometimes, it’s the one who makes a house feel like home.

“She’s Cheating On You”
Gen | WC 1,234 | tw: perceived romantic Stobin (fake dating), misunderstanding
Eddie wasn’t sure why he was happy.
He should be upset for Steve. Mad. Angry.
He shouldn’t be buzzing with anticipation, waiting for the perfect moment to spill the beans.
It’s just that since Steve and Robin started dating, he couldn’t stand being around them. He knew they were close, but they promised they weren’t like that. They weren’t supposed to be like that. Except a few weeks ago, they surprised the party at a movie night, hands intertwined as they announced they were going steady.
And Eddie should’ve been happy for Steve.
Except that broke his heart.
He wasn’t sure why. Steve was out of his league, batting for the other team. There was no way he would go for someone like Eddie. So Eddie tried to push him towards Nancy. Nancy was the type of girl Steve was supposed to like. Because if he likes someone like Robin —
That meant he could’ve liked someone like Eddie.
If only he was a girl, right?
So maybe Eddie distanced himself from the couple. Not wanting to see them so sugary-sweet and couple-like. Eddie felt sick to his stomach thinking of them kissing. He avoided family video unless he saw Keith’s car parked outside. He tried to make conversations brief, afraid that his jealousy and heartbreak would show.
But he still couldn’t say no to Steve.
Steve had cornered him after Hellfire, all but demanding a movie night of their own. Steve even said they could watch Evil Dead like Eddie’s been begging for months. It should feel like a victory, but Eddie’s stomach felt like stone. He remembered asking, “is Robin coming?”
“Nah,” Steve shrugged. “Girls night. Figured it could be just us.”
Eddie nodded. There was promise of pizza and beer as long as Eddie picked up the tape.
So maybe Eddie went out to Indy the night before. Hoping he could find someone to ease the pain before he spent the following day with Steve. But that’s where he saw her.
Robin and this girl — a short redhead — dancing in the back of the club. Robin tilting her chin up ever so gently to capture her lips in a kiss.
And Eddie felt the world slow to a stop.
Robin was cheating on Steve.
And Eddie couldn’t have felt happier.
Which also made him feel like a huge asshole.
His best friend, a full romantic, was cheated on by his soul mate. Eddie should be upset. He should go and break the girls up. Tell Robin that she should be thinking of Steve, and not in this gay bar. That she’s going to break his heart.
But Eddie will be there to pick up the pieces.
Eddie left, no longer interested in finding someone. He needed to find a way to tell Steve.
He ran through the scenarios, trying to imagine how Steve would react to the news. Would he break down and cry? Would he get angry and yell? Would he look at Eddie, tears in his eyes and admit his love for him?
How would Eddie try to comfort him? Tell him that Robin’s no good for him? That he deserved better? That Eddie could be better for him?
How would Eddie even break the news? Would he start all soft, taking Steve’s hands in his like he’s telling him that his grandma passed in her sleep? Would he tell him that he’s heard from a friend or that he saw with his own eyes? Would he just rip the bandaid off?
No. Steve deserved gentle. He couldn’t just blurt it out —
“Okay, what gives?” Steve said, reaching for the remote and pausing the movie. “You’ve been antsy all night.”
“She’s cheating on you,” Eddie blurted out. “Robin. She’s — uh — cheating on you.”
Steve sunk back into the couch, a furrow in his brow. “What?”
“She’s a lesbian,” Eddie said. “I saw her last night at this gay bar in Indy with this girl and I — uh — she kissed her.”
Steve’s face softened into something sad. “Oh.”
“Yeah,” Eddie said softly. “I’m sorry.”
“What —“ Steve started, his brow wrinkled as he tried to process his heartbreak. “What were you doing there? At the bar?”
“Oh — uh —“ Eddie frowned, as he tried to process Steve’s question. He thought Steve knew he was gay. Did he assume that Steve would be okay with that? “I — uh — I’m gay.”
“Yeah,” Steve said, pulling a knee up and towards his chest. “I — uh — know that. But you were there?”
Eddie nodded. “And saw her there.”
“Did you — did you stay long?” Steve asked.
“No, I left after I saw her,” Eddie said. “I was trying to figure out how to tell you.”
“You didn’t talk to anyone?”
Eddie wished he could read the expression on Steve’s face. Wish he had whatever weird telepath connection him and Robin has — had. He wished he could peer into his brain and figure out his thinking. “No.”
Steve nodded silently, lips pressed together.
“I’m sorry,” Eddie repeated. “About Robin.”
“What?” Steve asked, like he forgot about how they got to the gay bar in the first place.
“I’m sorry that Robin’s cheating on you,” Eddie said. “That’s a shitty thing to do.”
Steve shrugged, picking up the remote and pressing play. “I told her she could.”
Eddie felt his brain break. “What?”
“I told her that she could,” Steve repeated plainly. Eddie reached for the remote and paused the movie.
“What do you mean?”
“I’m her beard,” Steve said. “Well, I guess we’re both each others’ beards.”
“You have to be queer to have a beard,” Eddie said slowly.
“Yeah,” Steve said.
Eddie leaned back into the couch and processed this information. Steve and Robin are beards. Steve is single. Steve is queer. Steve is queer. “You’re single?” Steve nodded. “You’re into guys?”
“Specifically one guy in particular —“ Eddie felt his heart drop. “—but he keeps trying to bring up my fake girlfriend while we’re on a date.”
“On a date?” Eddie nearly shouted. Steve let out a laugh. “Oh my god —“
It made sense. The way Steve looked nervous when he talked to him about the movie night. The way Steve’s body was pressed against his, his arm thrown lazily over his shoulder. The way Steve looked disappointed when Eddie said he went to the gay bar last night.
“Oh my god,” Eddie repeated. “I went to the bar to get over you. I thought you weren’t into me.”
“Totally into you,” Steve grinned. “Even after you kept trying to push me towards Nance.”
“Oh,” Eddie said sheepishly. “Sorry about that.”
“Between you and the kids, always pushing one of us to date,” Steve said. “We kinda got sick of it. So we decided to fake date. Just — uh — didn’t think you’d push us away after that.”
“I was jealous,” Eddie admitted.
“That’s what Robin thought,” Steve said, shifting in his spot. “She said that maybe I needed to be more forward.”
“More forward,” Eddie repeated softly
“Yeah,” Steve said, a smirk on his face. “Maybe like this —“ he leaned into Eddie’s space, capturing his lips in a soft kiss. When he pulled back, Eddie felt like Steve took his oxygen with him.
“I’m happy Robin’s cheating on you,” Eddie admitted. Steve grinned.
“Me too.”

Dimensional traveling Prince!Danny Fenton & Obsessed but still somewhat sane and logical! Damian Wayne
Just a random DeadSerious prompt I thought of at like 2am :>
Clockwork stumbled upon a peculiar universe where a group of humans had been engaging in bizarre activities. Recognizing the need for investigation, Clockwork assigned the newly announced Prince Phantom, a 14-year-old named Danny Fenton, to venture into this realm. It was a training opportunity for Danny, preparing him for his future role as King. Through a portal, Danny found himself suspended above the Lazarus pit, with Ra's al Ghul standing below him. Fortunately, Danny was dressed in his regal attire, which inexplicably aged him to 18 years old, sparing him from too much embarrassment. Ra's began questioning him, leading to a discussion about the potential dangers of the pit.
During his stay, Danny crossed paths with Damian, who was in the midst of his training. The 8-year-old assassin-in-training wasted no time in challenging Danny to a duel. As expected, Danny emerged victorious, leaving a lasting impact on Damian. Danny revealed that he too was an heir to a throne, possessing strength, power, and a tolerable personality, as Damian had previously remarked. These qualities managed to thaw Damian's cold and unyielding heart, finding a special place within it. From that moment on, Damian began courting Danny using the rituals he had learned from secret books in the league's library. He showered Danny with small gifts, heartfelt letters, acts of service, and even presented him with his second favorite knife.
In the meantime, Danny had been well aware of the situation right from the beginning, and he wasted no time in creating distance between himself and the child. Forget about it! Sure, he might be clueless at times, but he's not foolish! When a child hands you a thornless Rose and affectionately calls you 'Habibi', 'Rohi', 'Hayati', 'Albi', and/or 'Ya Amar'—even though he may not fully understand the meanings behind those words, he definitely knows what 'Habibi' means—you can't help but have doubts, you know?! So Danny tried his best to keep the kid at arm's length, not wanting to give him false hope. After all, the kid was only 8 years old for crying out loud! But you have to give it to the kid, he was incredibly stubborn and persistent.
As time went on, two whole months flew by, and Clockwork finally informed Danny that there was no longer any need for him to investigate or keep an eye on the pit. When Danny asked for an explanation, the old man, true to his cryptic nature, simply delivered a mysterious message and left, much to Danny's annoyance. All he could do was leave a letter of explanation for Damian. Damian's heart shattered into a million pieces when he read the letter, realizing that he would never be able to see or even meet Danny again, as they belonged to different dimensions.
Time flew by and it was finally the moment to reveal his secret identity to his parents as Phantom. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned and he ended up being captured by the GIW, strapped to a surgical table for three days. After escaping, he made a quick exit from home, promising his friends and sisters that he would keep in touch. Clockwork then whisked Danny away to another dimension, sensing that he needed a change of scenery. Dropping him off in a crime-ridden city with just a backpack of essentials, including a dagger from Damian. As he transformed back to his human form in Gotham, he pondered his next move. Suddenly, a young vigilante? Hero? appeared and whisked him away through the city with a grappling hook. Just when he thought things couldn't get any worse!
Damian, now taking on the role of the vigilante Robin, was out patrolling alone. His father wanted him to gain more experience on his own. As he made his way through the city, he noticed a faint but distinct bright light coming from one of the nearby alleys. Curiosity piqued, he decided to investigate.
To his surprise, he saw his beloved from years ago emerging from a strange green portal. Gone was the royal attire Damian was accustomed to seeing him in. Instead, he was clad in a black and white HAZMAT suit, with a symbol in the center. And astonishingly, he even held the second favorite knife that Damian had given him all those years ago.
In a matter of seconds, his beloved transformed into what Damian believed to be a Wayne adoption bait. Without hesitation, he sprinted towards them, landing in front of them and carefully assessing the situation. In one swift motion, he slung his beloved over his shoulder and shot his grappling hook, swiftly taking off with them.
Damian wasn't sure what he would do next, but one thing was certain - he would never let his beloved out of his sight again. He had lost him once, and he refused to lose him again. His possessiveness over the things and people he considered his had grown stronger.
Perhaps he would find a way for them to sign marriage papers, or at least become engaged, despite their young age. Of course, it would only happen if his beloved, Danny, agreed to it. Consent and trust were crucial in any relationship, after all. If Danny disagreed, Damian would resort to the courting rituals his mother had taught him. The conventional methods from books hadn't worked, so he would try his mother's unique approach. Granted, he was technically kidnapping him, but it was only a few steps ahead. Damian was determined to win his beloved's heart, no matter what it took.

JEALOUSLY, JEALOUSLY!

pairing: lottie matthews x fem!reader ~ requested
summary: after a falling out with lottie in middle school, you two had steered clear of each other until your love for soccer forces you two to rekindle your long-lost friendship. but when the same flame of unknown jealousy is reignited, you realize that your falling out had been a simple miscommunication.
warnings: miscommunication trope (sort of). jealous!lottie & jealous!reader. slight angst with lots of comfort. happy ending! pre-crash
word count. 2.6k || masterlist
The day you stopped talking to Lottie, it rained.
Dark gray clouds lingered in the distance as you hopped off the bus and began skipping into school without the incoming weather having much effect on your mood. Middle school had its ups and downs, but you enjoyed getting to spend most of your time with your best friend.
You and Lottie had been connected at the hip since sixth grade started. Rarely were one of you seen without the other. There was only one class period in which you two didn’t share, but after that, you met up at the cafeteria entrance before eating lunch together.
One class period didn’t seem like much, it was less than an hour of the day. But it was enough for Lottie to befriend Robin, a boy in your grade. He was nice but nothing extraordinary, you thought.
You didn’t have a problem with Lottie having other friends, especially when they had met in a class you two weren’t even together in. What bothered you was how close the two had gotten over the course of the school year.
You didn’t understand why seeing them laughing together in the halls or sharing homework answers before school started got under your skin. Lottie a couple of other friends, as did you. None of them were as close as the two of you were to each other, though. But you tried to swallow down a new, festering feeling of jealousy that bubbled up in your throat like bile each time you spotted them smiling or lightly touching the other’s shoulders when doubled over in laughter.
When the rain broke that day, so did you.
You tapped your foot against the floor as you watched your lunch hour tick by on your watch. Lottie was never late, not by more than five minutes. She hadn’t looked sick or mentioned having to leave early for a doctor’s appointment that day.
For a moment, you started to worry. Maybe something had happened and she needed you.
However, that worry was soon squashed under the toe of Lottie’s boots when you spotted her at her locker, sharing a quick kiss with Robin in the empty hall.
Best friends were supposed to be happy for each other when crushes were returned and relationships were surefire. With your other friends, you had excitedly listened to the stories of their first kisses and dates. Never did their words or actions leave you with a belly tied in a knot and that horrible feeling stuck in your throat when you were on the verge of crying. So why did watching Lottie kiss a boy make you feel betrayed? You didn’t know.
It made you sick and it made you angry. Oh, and you had let Lottie know.
You and Lottie had never fought, but that day you did. Insults were thrown, spiraling into an argument that left you both storming off in steaming anger.
When you exited the bus at your stop, raindrops rolled down your nose and your shoes turned soggy from the puddles on the street.
Lottie didn’t call that night so you two could work on your history homework together. You didn’t meet her at her locker to walk to first period the following day. She moved seats in English and you switched seats in science. The gap grew further, a puddle between you turning into a river, then a pond, and eventually an ocean. You roamed the same halls, listened to the same lectures, but the distance grew too great that neither one of you wanted to cross it.
So neither one did, and it became the new normal. Your best friend became a stranger.
You thought it’d stay that way. Once high school started, you hardly saw Lottie anymore. Sometimes you’d forget how close the two of you had been, but something would remind you how things had been, and a dull ache spread through your chest. A photograph of you two that had fallen behind your dresser that you found while cleaning, Lottie’s laugh echoing down the hallway, even something as simple as a charm bracelet she once complimented sent you back to middle school, before your fight and your stupid feelings.
Why couldn’t you just be happy for Lottie? Why couldn’t she have called you on your birthday and pretend like nothing ever happened? Why couldn’t you have understood your feelings stemmed from jealousy that made you green in the face? Maybe if you had figured out sooner that you liked girls, that you liked Lottie as more than a friend, you could have stopped the fallout.
Instead, you believed you’d go the rest of your life without Lottie, existing parallel of each other, always within reach but still miles away.
But that changed at soccer tryouts.
The first thing you spotted walking out onto the field was Lottie. She had her hair fixed in pigtails and workout clothes on. A pair of cleats hung over her shoulder, their laces tied together.
You froze on the sideline, hands already sweaty despite the cool breeze in the air. Before you could turn away, she caught you staring. Her switch of attention was noticed by the girl she had just been speaking to Laura Lee. The blonde smiled at you and excitedly waved you over. You don’t know what exactly possessed you to walk towards them, whether it was Laura Lee’s bright smile or the chance to be close to Lottie again after so long. Whatever it was, you approached the two girls with a tense smile and a small wave.
“I didn’t know you were trying out too!” Laura Lee said excitedly.
Your heartbeat quickened and your shoulders were probably noticeably tensed. “Yeah. I thought I’d give it a shot.”
Laura Lee nudged Lottie’s arm. “Us too! I was just telling Lottie here that I heard they like to keep a larger JV team in case any of the girls on varsity get hurt. Apparently, it happens a lot; they need a couple of alternates.”
“Good to know,” you said, eyes drifting from Laura Lee to Lottie, only to see her already staring at you with an unreadable expression.
“Oh! Van’s here. I’ll be right back!” Laura Lee rushed off to meet with an excited redhead who had just walked out of the school, leaving you and Lottie alone.
You rocked back on your heels, feeling awkward in the tense air that you were left in.
Lottie cleared her throat. “Uh, are you ready for tryouts?” she asked, making small talk.
“Yeah, I think so. Not trying to get my hope up too high, though,” you said, taking a break from Lottie’s pretty eyes to gaze around all of the girls gathered on the field.
“You’ll do great.” Lottie’s voice was filled with a sincerity that caught you off guard. Your lips smiled as a reflex, some of the tension unwinding.
Soccer then became your gateway back into the life of Lottie Matthews. What began as simple, polite small talk on try-out day grew into something that bordered on friendship after you both made the team and had to spend three days a week after school together. As the team bonded, so did the two of you. It was as if your falling out was old history forgotten in the weeds of middle school and renewed in the fever of high school. You weren’t back exactly where you had been a couple of years ago, but you were friends and that was more than you thought you’d ever be with Lottie again.
However, with friendship came the stupid feeling that had bloomed in your chest before you understood what it meant. When Lottie smiled at you, you had to fight against the heat in your cheeks or when she looped her arm with yours, you had to ignore the butterflies in your stomach. The last thing you wanted was to ruin what you guys had again. You finally had Lottie back in your life, admitting your crush would only break you two again.
So, you ignored it the best you could and wished for the feeling to go away.
That was made a bit easier when you started to befriend more girls on the team.
“Another great game, if I do say so myself,” Mari said, slinging an arm around your shoulders as you two started to walk back to the locker room.
You laughed, poking her side. “You’re lucky you’re quick on your feet. Tai looked ready to kick your shins in when you almost missed her pass, twice.”
Mari rolled her eyes. “I’m a showman! I want the audience to be entertained, spice things up a little.”
Bushing past her Tai shot Mari a sharp look. “They’d be entertained if you just played the fucking game.”
“Hey,” Van jumped into the conversation, patting Tai on the shoulder. “Relax. We won! We’re probably the best team, like, ever.”
Van had a knack for making Tai smile, even when she was pissed off, which the team was grateful for. Even though Tai wasn’t the team captain, she held a certain authority on the field that they respected, but she could be a little too intense sometimes.
The two went ahead into the locker room, but Mari pulled you to a stop at the water fountain, needing to fill up her water bottle.
You leaned against the cool, painted cinder block wall as the game’s adrenaline slowly left your bones.
“Whatcha doing tonight?” Mari asked, paying more attention to you than her water bottle.
You shrugged. “Not sure yet. Why?”
“Well, I heard Mark’s Dinner is giving out free milkshakes tonight if you order a meal. Wanna go?”
A milkshake sounded good, you had to admit. You didn’t often hang out with Mari outside of school and soccer, but you enjoyed her company. Not to mention she was funny and pretty, a double win in your book. She was easy on the eyes and easy to talk to; she enjoyed gossiping about everything that breathed in New Jersey, which was endlessly entertaining.
“We can even split one. Two straws and everything like we’re in Grease or some shit,” Mari added, a playful smile on her lips and a light dusting of pink across her cheeks.
You opened your mouth to agree, but a hand curled around your shoulder, stopping you.
“Sorry, we have plans tonight, remember?” Lottie’s voice sounded from behind you. She had taken her hair down, leaving it in knotty curls from the game, and there was a smear of dirt across her cheek from a fall she had taken after getting the ball stolen.
You were confused; you didn’t remember making any plans with Lottie, but it was possible it had slipped your mind.
Mari furrowed her brows. “Oh, uh, okay. Whatever. Maybe another time then?”
You nodded and she screwed the cap back onto her water bottle before slipping into the locker room. You turned to face Lottie as she dropped her hand on your shoulder. “We made plans?”
She looked somewhat sheepish, glancing down at her feet. “Sort of.” You tilted your head in question and she sighed. “Fine, no. We didn’t but I…I don’t know. Do you really want to hang out with Mari?”
“Mari’s cool,” you said, a bit defensively.
Lottie rolled her eyes. “Cool? She was totally flirting with you!” You were surprised by the rise of Lottie’s voice and the flustered look on her face.
“Mari? No way.” You scoffed. “I don’t think she’s into girls.”
“She just offered to split a milkshake.”
“Right, she may as well have proposed,” you joked dryly. “Seriously, Lot. What does it even matter?”
“It matters!” She pressed her lips into a thin line, draining the color from them for a prolonged moment before she sighed, tossing her head back. “I mean, do you…like Mari?”
Mari was cool and she was pretty, but like wasn’t exactly what you would describe it as. Maybe if you split a milkshake and learned that she too liked girls, maybe you could. But if you were being honest with yourself, it was difficult not to compare every girl you thought about forcing yourself to have a crush on just to get over Lottie, to Lottie herself. It was just so difficult. Lottie was your best friend, even when you spent years apart and not talking, a part of you kept her in your heart. Now that you two were cool again, that crush came back without taking pity on you.
“I don’t know,” you said with a shrug. “Would it matter if I did?”
Lottie looked at you like you had grown three heads. “Of course it would!” She stepped closer, lips downturned in a frown.
“Why?”
She sputtered for a response, stumbling over words in a way you’d never seen you do before. It confused you. Finally, she huffed out a breath and shook her head. “Maybe because I want to get a milkshake with you, like we’re in Grease or some shit,” she said, repeating the very words Mari had minutes ago, in which Lottie had accused of being flirtatious.
You stilled, wondering if you had heard her right. “What are you saying?”
“Not being friends with you sucked,” Lottie started. “I hated it. I hated that you didn’t even tell me why you were so pissed at me. It was like one second we were best friends and the next, you were accusing me of not wanting to be your friend anyone. But that wasn’t true.”
Since the return of your friendship, you hadn’t spoken about your fall out in the middle; the stupid fight spawned by your jealousy that you had such a hard time admitting to.
“I…Well, okay. Maybe it was true a little bit,” Lottie sighed.
Your heart squeezed uncomfortably inside your chest like someone had sunk their fingers into it. “You didn’t want to be my friend?”
“No, I did. I wanted to be your friend but I think I wanted more, maybe. But that was really confusing and scary. I didn’t know what that meant so I tried to pretend like it didn’t mean anything. Then I started talking to Robin. He reminded me of you. Just, you know, if you were a boy. So I wasn’t scared to…to kiss him. Or to like him. But the more I thought about it the more I realized I was just trying to replace you, I guess. But as much as he was like you, he wasn’t you.”
You felt dizzy. The world around you was spinning so quickly you could hardly understand everything Lottie was saying, and she wasn’t even done.
Lottie covered her face with her hands like she was embarrassed or fractured, maybe both. “You were mad at me and I was too stubborn to make you tell me why, exactly. Even though I missed you like crazy. I only kept dating Robin because it felt like you were still there with me. It was lame, I know but I didn’t know what else to do, or how to deal with it, okay?”
“I wasn’t really mad at you,” you rushed out before your brain would let you chicken out of spilling your guts. Lottie lowered her hands to her sides, staring at you with her big, sad, brown eyes. “I-I was jealous. Suddenly Robin had all of your attention, and I realized…” You trailed off, struggling to put your words together.
Taking a step forward, Lottie closed some of the distance between the two of you. “You realized what?”
You couldn’t look her in the eyes as you said, “That I wanted to be Robin.”
Silence filled the gap between you two. An understanding, an apology, everything occurring all at once. You finally met her gaze again, only to Lottie smiling at you. You couldn’t help but smile back, a laugh following the waterfall of confessions.
“Shit,” Lottie laughed. “This whole time we were just….”
“Idiots,” you said, finishing her sentence.
“I guess there’s really only one thing to do now, huh?”
You beamed, giddiness replacing the ache in your chest. “Milkshakes?”
“Milkshakes.”

Steve and Eddie are on again off again for years after the events of st4. It's never too serious, they have basically opposite schedules. Eddie tends bar and plays with his band, existing mostly at night. Steve gets a degree and moves onto being a school counselor, late nights are the bane of his existence. It's easier when they live together, but over the years they've moved in and out of the little place they share with Robin.
Eddie's moved cities a few times, tried living with the band, has been on and off tour. Steve moved back home when his parents divorced for about a year to help his mom out, moved in and usually quickly out with partners. He volunteered a few summers to live in low income rural areas and help with the schools summer programs.
They just never quite get the timing right to try anything other than casual. It's honestly tearing Steve apart, it's been the source of every break up he's had since meeting the man. Eddie however seems entirely unbothered.
Steve knows for a fact he's Eddie's favorite person. Even when Eddie is "seeing" someone else, Eddie's relationships are never serious, he still prefers to spend his time with Steve. He just doesn't get why Eddie doesn't want something real, but he doesn't push, doesn't wanna lose what he has
It's a full decade of this nonsense before the song Quit Playing Games With My Heart by The Backstreet Boys comes out. Steve doesn't really care much about the band, he likes boy band music well enough. It's fun and catchy and danceable. But he's picking Eddie up from the airport, back from a three month stint in LA recording and promoting with the band. And the air is tense as the lyrics spill out of the radio, and it makes Steve feel heavy.
The song ends but he's still pretty misty, it's only ten minutes back to the apartment. He can hold it back, and when they're home he'll just excuse himself and cry quietly on his bed. He's done it plenty of times before, this is no different, he's got this, he's good.
"Stevie?" Eddie asks softly, and his his voice sounds strained, like something's got him worked up too.
Steve can't respond, not with his voice, so he just sort of nods, doesn't look at Eddie, but can feel the weight of Eddie's stare.
"What is it about me that you don't wanna stick around for?" He asks quietly, but there's a solid quality to his tone, like this is a question he's resolved to ask many times, and finally got his nerve up.
Steve doesn't respond for a long time, as pieces slowly move into place. Eddie has always seemed so unaffected, even congratulating Steve when things got serious with someone else. But if he looked closely at Eddie's reactions now, in retrospect, with the way he asked his quiet question, it clicks.
Eddie never liked any of Steve's partners, always gave Steve an out of he needed it, was always a little petty about Steve's ex's after a breakup. The thought that maybe, for all these years, a decade now, they'd been wasting their time keep things casual was just...well it was fucking hilarious. Terrible and heartbreaking, sure. But it kick started ridiculous sounding giggles.
Giggles quickly snowballed into full hysterical laughter. He glanced at Eddie who looked hurt, which was absurd. Steve's laughter became unhinged, and he had to pull off the road. Eddie didn't look hurt anymore when he looked back, he looked furious, and he was wiping his cheeks. Steve hadn't seen tears, but the idea that Eddie was crying over him did nothing to quell the laughter.
The moment the car stopped Eddie threw the door open, and climbed out. Grabbing his duffle from the back seat. He managed to stomp a good distance away before Steve could get himself together enough to chase after him. He was still giggling when he caught up enough to grab the strap of Eddie's bag. He pulled it back hard enough to knock Eddie off balance, and had to reach out to steady him.
"Eddie please," he paused to laugh and catch his breath as Eddie struggled to pull out of his grip. "Please, baby, give me a minute."
Eddie froze at that. They didn't use pet names like that. Nothing so relationship-y. It was enough to make Eddie wait for him. Steve didn't let go though, terrified Eddie might run off without a proper explanation.
He didn't know how to explain it, the years of longing, the way he'd wanted to ask the same question so many times, how he ached for him. He certainly didn't know how to explain his reaction.
"I don't know why it made me laugh like that." He started once he had his breathing under control. "Some stupid pop song-" and he was laughing again because this was stupid. He threw his hands up in frustration, immediately grabbing onto Eddie again when his hands came back down.
"some stupid pop song had me on the brink of tears, because my stupid, broken heart-" more laughter, and Steve was getting really tired of this. "Aches for you, when you've, I guess-" laughter, "been feeling the same way. God Eddie how stupid are we?"
And with that the giggles were gone, his insides had gone suddenly still, and he felt the loss of the time they could have had.
"how long?" Eddie asked, quiet again, he was never this quite. When Steve looked at him now his face was hard to read, tears still brimming in his eyes, but the anger and hurt were gone.
"since the boat house probably, at least since the hospital, for sure. When you woke up and you were cuffed to the bed. The first thing you said was some joke about being flattered they thought you were that dangerous. I knew for sure then, but I think it started in the boat house." Steve flushed, his face hot and pink.
"God, no, that's ..we can't have been feeling the same way so long. Stevie, what have we been doing?" Tears were falling, both men crying on the side of the road, and Eddie was holding onto Steve now too.
"Didn't think you'd want me for real. Didn't think anyone-" Steve coughed around the lump in his throat. "Tried to move on, so many times. Never could, it always came back to you."
And Eddie was suddenly in his arms, weeping, getting tight words out between sobs. "Never. Anything. Compare. No one. Even close. Just you. My Stevie."
"Didn't catch all that sweetheart. You'll have to tell me the rest later." Steve whispered into his ear, and Eddie melted in his arms, nodding emphatically into Steve's shoulder.
The time they waisted sat heavy on Steve's shoulders, but he had Eddie now. Eventually they would joke about it, about pining after each other for a decade before getting thier shit together, but it was gonna hurt for a while still.

DCXDP Prompt 7
Dead Serious Ship but with a twist(?) of a sort. And Good Parents Fenton's + Casper High Classmates knows Danny is Phantom.
• Damian and Danny were Teenage Sweethearts and Danny was in Gotham due to Amity Park Stuff with his parents still taking down the GIW, up until they turned 18 when Damian suddenly became distant. He started canceling plans, distancing himself from his beloved, even going as far as no longer calling Danny by their usual pet names.
From Lovers to Strangers.
• Danny is confused on why Damian is suddenly so distant, until Damian just disappeared, he never contacted Danny at all. Danny's mind is now cluttered with overthinking thoughts that range from negative to dreadful thoughts, at first it was worry that Damian died but he sees an article of Damian being alive and well.... and with someone. Danny feels his heart break into a million goddamn pieces and seeks refuge in his family's arms and moving back to Amity Park.
• Damian's reason of disappearance was apparently for Danny's safety as Ra's had taken particular interest in the boy that has Lazarus Running in their DNA as if it is their blood and for Danny's safety Damian decided to distance himself, a specific mission that required him a partner to take down a specific organization is where the article comes from(Writer can change the last part, either way angst is inevitable).
• 2-3 years later Danny comes back to Gotham because a Ghost of his had something from their grave stolen, and it was stored in the Gotham Museum. Although Danny hates it he stays as it is his duty as A Halfa (Or a Ghost King) to retrieve his people's items from the other side of the veil. Danny happened to attend a gala in one of these occasions and Damian spots him.
Damian and Danny Part :
• Danny feels dread and hatred whenever he sees Damian, Damian is desperate to get him back.
Damian becomes possessive and the Batfam finally tone him down after Danny slaps him, This is mostly angst of Damian being unable to have Danny back as Danny finally settles into the Ghost Zone and Amity Park.
Summary Danny holds a grudge after thinking Damian cheated on him and ghosted him, Danny is not fine and when he does come back to Gotham for Ghost King/Halfa Duties Damian tries to pursue him again which ends with a lot of Vigilante and Phantom shenanigans along with Robin and Phantom romance where they both don't know about each other's Civilian life and when they do more heartbreak and chaos ensue.
Damian wants Danny back so bad and regrets letting his Beloved Polaris go for a mission and for not trusting himself or his family to be able to protect Danny, Danny doesn't like Damian because Damian brings back memories of the last that he truly, really wants to forget because everytime he thinks about it he wants to cry himself to sleep.
My thought is bittersweet ending but that's on the writer's choice or inspiration of this, thanks for reading my crack. I'll see y'all later.

Liminal!Jason part 4...
Masterpost
When Red Robin called in for backup about a possibly mentally compromised Red Hood, the family assumed the worst. Mental incapacitation for Red Hood could mean bodies lining the streets. The family responded as quickly as possible.
Batman and Robin headed straight to the location. And Batman started assuming the worst, filtering through scenarios in his head of Hood suffering as he is forced to murder innocents.
Red Robin assures, that they are in a safe location. There is a possible civilian with them, but Red states suspicions about telepathy and mind control. Robin is told to maintain distance from the civilian as they approach. They don’t know how they are affecting Hood.
They arrive at the apartment, Red managing to separate Hood and the target. Batman goes in to sedate the target. The target cries out as Batman grabs him, inserting the needle and plunging the medication into him. The cry doesn’t last long and the target is asleep, restrained and being brought outside quickly, as Hood moves to intercept. Robin is told to take the target to the car and he does, as Red and Batman secure Hood.
They are all in the Batmobile and headed to the cave in under five minutes from their arrival to the apartment.
Robin watches as Father secures Jason and the stranger in different cells. He listens as Red Robin tells them about how Hood stopped in the middle of patrol, following a sound only he could hear, to a boy that started communicating with him via unknown means.
Hood said he didn’t suspect telepathy, telling Red that he was hearing their conversations out loud. He did not seem to have any insight on what the language was or how he was communicating, stating he “didn’t know how he was making the noises,” and exclaiming surprise when Red informed him that only Jason was hearing them.
Somewhere near the end of this conversation, Damian hears a growl. It was choppy and loud, claiming hurt-confused-angry. Damian turned to face the cells. He debates the merits of going to comfort those in the cells, explaining to them what is going on, and staying to explain to Father and Drake what is going on once Drake finishes with his ceaseless jabbering. When he hears a whimper that makes his chest hurt, full of alone-panic-hurt, it makes the decision for him. Damian is heading towards the cells without a second thought, heart pounding in response to the panic in the other’s voice. He is almost there when he hears a keen.
The noise causes such a physical reaction that he nearly stumbles, causing a churning and urgent need to help. His quick walk turned into a run towards the cells. The keen was a different voice. They’re both panicking in the cells.
Damian arrives at the cells, and is about to reach for the panel of the first one, wanting to open it, to help. The keening has continued, full of panic and confusion. They’re in distress, stuck and alone. Damian can help, he can explain what’s going on, he can let them out.
But he’s stopped just as he reaches the door, a voice calls “Robin, what are you doing!” A hand grips his wrist.
A rumble comes from inside the closest cell. Jason. He’s calmed some, annoyed but understanding of the situation now, and Damian breathes a sigh of relief as the other responds, confused and wary, but coming down from the panic.
There’s a purr, and then the sweetest churr, and Damian can’t help but let out a soft chuff in response. A question and declaration of support. If this is the communication Drake has been obsessing over, then everything is okay.
Damian just needs to get to them so he can explain. Damian lets out a frustrated huff, when Bruce and Drake pull at him, questioning what the hell he thinks he was doing. Damian just wants to help Jason and the other boy, and his breathy huff cuts out in a short, clipped whine as he is forced away, pain starting to blossom in his wrist from the force of Bruce’s direction.
A short growl erupts from Jason’s cell at the pain in Damian’s whine. A churr comes from the stranger’s cell, confused and slightly scared, but supportive and Damian almost balks at the stranger’s kindness in this situation. Damian is quick to let out a soft churr of his own in response, saying okay-patience-help.
Bruce and Drake are looking at him with concern, and Damian straightens himself. “What?”
They share a look with each other, Damian hears a churr from both Jason and the boy full of patience-warytrust-concern, and Bruce gives him a full-body lookover when he looks back at him.
“Why were you trying to open the cells, Robin?”
Damian squared his shoulders, and in a voice like he was giving a report, stated “They were in distress. I thought it would be wise to help keep them from panicking.”
Drake’s brow furrowed and Damian just knew he was overthinking. “How did you know they were in distress?”
Damian tried to reign in the snark, but he didn’t fully manage it. “That is your question. Not, ‘are they okay now?’, maybe ‘do they still need help?'. Where is your concern for your brother Drake?”
Bruce pinched the bridge of his nose. “Do they need help?” His eyes were closed. Damian almost felt sorry for the fear he must have felt for his compromised child. But everything is fine.
“They are stable for now.”
Drake is starting to look like he wants to strangle him, and Damian can relate to the urge. Unfortunately, that is frowned upon in their current circles.
“How did you know they were in distress, Robin?”
Damian almost wants to ignore Drake, but Bruce is looking to him for the answer as well. He clicks his tongue. “I heard them, obviously. The language they use to communicate is one with which I am familiar.”

if you look deep enough into steve’s eyes, the colors start to shift from a medium-brown to light, almost golden, like his hair in the summer, like his skin when it’s wet.
eddie finds himself noticing these things more often as the year after vecna passes. on the anniversary of nearly dying, eddie thinks he’s noticed everything about steve.
but then steve shows up at his door after dropping the kids off at their respective homes, a smile on his face, and something mysterious in his eyes. something that distracts eddie from the golden specks the reflect off his porch light. something that only eddie really gets to see.
“wanna take a ride?”
“where you taking me, big boy?”
steve blushes, a soft pink that would be warm to the touch if eddie was brave enough to reach out.
“it’s a surprise.”
eddie trusts steve, so he gets in his car and doesn’t ask anymore questions.
steve talks about something dustin did on the way, complaining with a fondness only steve could have for the kid.
it hits eddie as steve pulls onto a side road.
the field.
the wildflowers bloomed early this year, and eddie had mentioned recently that he would like to make new memories in a place where he was facing death or prison exactly one year ago.
he didn’t think anyone was listening, but apparently steve was.
steve parks the car and eddie doesn’t think he can look at him yet. he thinks he’s gonna cry. he thinks he’s so deeply in love with this man that he may never experience anything like it again.
it’s dark, but the moon is bright. there’s still a light chill in the air, but eddie’s still wearing his leather jacket from hellfire earlier, so he barely feels it.
they walk together through the field, close enough that their hands brush, but still more distance between them than eddie wants. he’s surrounded by beauty: the flowers, the stars, steve.
he stops when steve does.
they both look up at the stars for a few minutes, silent so they can hear the crickets and their own heartbeats.
“a year ago, when i almost lost you, i thought about all the things i didn’t get to do or say or know about you. i was angry for a long time.” steve turns to eddie, giving him a sad smile. “it wasn’t fair that you had to go through all of that and i couldn’t do anything. the doctors weren’t doing enough, and the cops weren’t doing enough, and no one understood how important it was that they fix it.”
eddie’s watching him, baffled. he’s not sure where this is going and he’s worried that his own feelings may be clouding his vision.
“i couldn’t make your pain go away. i couldn’t make it easier. i couldn’t help you walk again or play guitar. i just had to watch.”
eddie feels a tug in his stomach, a pull that leaves him breathless.
“but i watched. and i saw every side of you. and i don’t think i’ll say this right, but i practiced with robin and she thinks i did good.” steve breathes in and turns to face eddie completely. “i learned a side of me that i didn’t know about while i watched you. i learned that love looks different than what i always thought. and i learned that because of you.”
“because of…me?” eddie’s trying not to get his hopes up, but he’s pretty sure they’re higher than ever.
“because you love so loudly. everyone you love knows it and you aren’t scared that they’ll run away. it’s probably because it’s impossible not to love you.”
eddie thinks he actually is experiencing some kind of post-death dream. maybe he got too high in his room and steve never even showed up at his door.
“eddie? did you hear me?”
eddie focuses on steve’s look of concern, on the golden specks in his eyes that the moonlight makes shimmer.
“i don’t know?”
“i said i love you.”
“oh. then, no, i didn’t.”
steve’s face falls and eddie realizes a second too late that his response to steve saying he loves him wasn’t the exact thing he’d been holding back for at least six months now.
“i just thought you should know. um. so i guess i can wait in the car if you wanna stay a bit longer-“
eddie is only staying in this field if steve is with him, so he wraps his arms around steve’s shoulders and hugs him harder than is probably safe.
“i love you. sorry i’m a dumbass and didn’t say it the second you did. i was trying to convince myself this was real life.”
steve laughs against his ear and eddie’s pretty sure they belong like this.
“why now?” eddie asks as he pulls away.
“because i told myself if you didn’t do it by today, i would.”
“how long have you been waiting on me?”
steve lets out a breath. “eight months give or take.”
“that is…much longer than i would’ve expected.”
“yeah, well, imagine being the one waiting.”
eddie smiles at steve, and steve smiles back, and eddie notices a new thing.
steve harrington’s got a crooked tooth. an imperfection to some, a sign of being human to eddie.
“what’s that face for?” steve asks.
“you’re perfect, stevie.”
they kiss in the field where eddie was saying goodbyes a year ago. they look at stars in a clear sky while holding hands and talking about what their future might look like. steve’s head rests in eddie’s lap while eddie traces steve’s lips with his finger, memorizing the curl of his lips when he smiles and the feel of the vibrations when he hums a song eddie doesn’t recognize.
steve picks flowers, and eddie makes a crown, and they both say i love you in a million ways.
they walk along the edges of the field, where the rv was parked while they prepared for the worst. eddie shivers at the memories, but steve kisses his shoulder and the back of his hand and he shivers at that instead.
they ride back, and eddie sings along to whatever songs play on the radio, even if he messes up the words. steve laughs and it’s better than any music they could listen to.
they kiss on eddie’s porch, surrounded by darkness because no one turned on the outside light. it’s so late, no one would see them anyway.
steve stays at eddie’s, but wayne’s home, so they’re quiet and keep their hands above the waist even though they so desperately want to touch, and kiss, and bite every inch of each other.
they still get carried away, which doesn’t surprise eddie at all. what does surprise eddie is how quickly steve sits in his lap, rutting against his stomach and biting back moans and whimpers and eddie laces their fingers together and squeezes, meeting each thrust with his own. neither of them last long, coming in their pants like virgins. they laugh, but they kiss through it, teeth clacking as they gasp for breath.
they take turns in the bathroom in case wayne wakes up. steve comes back into eddie’s room without a shirt and hair slightly damp. eddie feels his heartbeat quicken as steve hops into bed next to him.
they sleep with steve curled against eddie’s chest, eddie’s arms around his back, sweaty but content.
content and happy.
and when the sun rises the next morning, eddie wakes first and notices another new thing about steve: he drools in his sleep.
#so this was supposed to be my pop up drabble next month#but then i got carried away#and it’s no one’s fault but my own#so now it just exists and i’ll have to write something else#oh darn#steddie#steve harrington#eddie munson#stranger things#drabble#getting together#love confessions

A neglected reader x batfam where she's dating klarion 👀.
Like.. Imagine, the reader was loved by Bruce and everyone in the fam but ever since the death of Jason, they begun to forget about her because of their grief. They distanced themselves without even noticing, busying themselves with works and crime fighting.. Not noticing that a certain someone had been distancing themselves.
Reader is the type of person who doesn't like to chase after someone. If she feels that she's being pushed away then she'd just back away.. Of course she'd try to communicate with them but if it keeps failing then she'd stop. She also noticed how her father took in Tim and that was when she gave up.
She'd often sneak out of the mansion and that's how she met klarion. Reader somehow befriended both Child and klarion. Her friendship with klarion became something more and then BOOM! She's dating him (very odd trio considering that child and klarion are both chaos Lords and have a very poor relationship with one another but let's pretend that reader somehow befriended the two of them 🙂)
-🔱
I'm really trying to do these in order, but damn, do some of the newer stuff you send unsmooths my brain-
This is me when I saw the Lost Twin Sister of Bruce, and One Night Stand asks you sent:
Post scriptum- Slighty murderous reader- unintentionally murderous if you will :))
I heard your Child and Klarion- I'll get there- I just want to get this little thing outta my head.
After Jason died and everyone grieved in the worst way possible, maybe you included, you were understanding, taking care of Bruce and Dick even if they were short, but that quickly ended when Tim came around, took Robin's place and started getting the families praise for what she had been doing before he came.
Any pity you had for them died and got buried with Jason, and you've become a silent menace.
So, when newly escaped from the assassin's league Jason saw your 16 year old self grumbling to herself while chipping at a ledge Bruce and Tim started using as their perch point for surveilance- he couldn't help but smile. It was methodical enough for the bats to think it happened naturally, a bit there, a bit more on the chips that already existed- it'll be sturdy enough to hold Tim, but as soon as Bruce lands, they'll both go down.
You flinched at his voice from beneath you, leaning over a sturdy part of it, only to be met with a red helmet across the building, the man standing on the balcony in one of the smaller apartment buildings.
"...Mind your own business, motorbike fetishist."
Jason snorted as you went back to work, cleaning up. "I don't think the bats would apreciate you messing with their shit." And you just huffed. "Well, I don't appreciate them sending my boyfriend to hell. And this is public property."
"Boyfriend?" Jason didn't come back from death just to have you thinking you're grown and, good heavens, DATING some lowlife in prison. "Minding your own business will keep you alive, newcomer."
The anger only got worse when he found out how they've been treating you, and that the boyfriend was actually a Lord of Chaos, and they didn't even know it.
Speaking of- that's about how you met Klarion and Child.
They were ignoring you, so you took the chance to let out some steam. It was small inconveniences at first, all left shoes going missing, switching around the place of things on their belts, mixing red food dye in the softener.
Alfred knew it was you, he saw you standing in the middle of the kitchen and staring at the cupboard, and the next hour he heard a crash and found Tim crying, in one hand his coffee mug, in the other the cupboard door- matter of fact- every cupboard and countertop door was on the floor as if Tim simply opening one created a domino effect. He didn't say anything. If they couldn't tell it was you, that was their problem.
That escalated the more Tim took over, starting to act like he was the only one Bruce needed. Maybe it was a mix of jealousy and anger, resentment- you weren't sure, but it did get worse, both your feelings about them and your mischief.
Klarion already had his eyes on the family, on Bruce, so when his senses tingled when one of his brats essentially became Discord reincarnated, he was giggling up a storm- he didn't care about the undead one anymore- you were more fun.
He enjoyed it- watching you put sticks in their lives, creating cracks in Bruce's relationship with Selina, making Tim so paranoid that every day he's on the edge of a breakdown, Dick's life was a mess around this time anyway, the little pushes you gave from afar just made everything thumble down.
He didn't expect the help he gave you for free, pushing things towards you and giving you ideas in your dreams, and he sure as hell didn't expect to do such a human thing as falling in love.
It made him cackle. Him? Falling in love with a human? He'd laugh until his stomach hurt just to ignore the longing in his chest. But he couldn't watch from the shadows forever, it wasn't his style, and when you almost slipped into the Lazarus pit as you were fucking around with it- he simply counldn't have hisfavorite human die.
You became friends. At least in your mind, he was already gathering information on binding your souls to one another. Not just one way, he wanted to show you how willing he was to trust you with such an important part of him.
Soon enough, you met Child, and initially, she "befriended" you just to annoy Klarion, seeing him throw tantrums over you being busy with her was entertaining. She had to reevaluate the choices she made that eneded with her in your room, watching some shitty horror movie as you painted her nails.
She knew she was in deep when you looked at her with a smile, calling her and Klarion your best friends. She hated it. She was so angry after, mainly at how easily she let her guard down around you, how happy she got when around you.
She got why Klarion was so enamored with you. Child took it upon themselves to protect you... Protect to a lord of chaos meant something different- especially adding in Child's hate toward Klarion.
The witch boy knew the blonde was trying to mess with his relationship with you, jokes on them both, you already knew they both were crazy and enemies, so you really didn't believe anything that they said about the other one.
And above all, Teekl was utterly obsessed with you. The familiar was on you whenever it could, refusing to leave your lap most of the time and purring constantly in your presence. Poor thing would get so annoyed once your relationship with Klarion became official, and he'd try to touch you while the cat was in your embrace.
Bruce didn't notice shit. But John Constantine sure as hell did- well, he saw the cat and connected the dots.
At first, he just thought the thing bonded to a human by accident and decided to stay for the warmth and cuddles. He's seen you dote on the thing like it was a baby, for fuck's sake. And then he met Klarion and his familiar. The same one you took care of.
Yeah, he wasn't going to have Bruce's kid on his mind- Klarion's probably draining her energy or whatever his little evil self is doing (like whining and crying your ear off when the Young Justice League don't want to play with him but are entertaining Shazam)
And thus, why you are upping Bruce's and Tim's misfortune, even if you know that your lover will be back tomorrow.
Jason uses this card in the big fight with Bruce, and the man has to stay awake the whole night just to think of a way to bring up to his daughter this- I mean- what do you even say to your teen daughter dating a 16 million years old Lord of Chaos?
...
He goes out as Brucie that night, getting so hammered that he barely remembers the discussion. He freezes when he sees you with that blasted cat, feeding it caviar. Alfred's look says that Bruce is on his own with this.
