Not "Robin Jason was just an angry, violent, aggressive brat", not "Robin Jason was a perfect, innocent, complete sunshine child" but a secret third thing (Robin Jason was a child who'd suffered abuse and trauma his whole life and never got the proper tools to heal from it; he was happy and silly, and he got angry and could be difficult)
#my dc posting#dc#jason todd#jaybin#robin jason todd#no he wasnt a devil child and no he wasnt a perfect sunshine angel#im much more receptive to the latter bc at least its not demonizing a traumatized child#or victim blaming someone for getting murdered#but it still feels like a big disservice to who he is#and not to be projecting/relating to jason on main but-#my life hasn't been half as bad as his but when any complexity to jaybin is denied bc he Wasn't Bad Like That it feels. bad#my trauma&mental health issues did (and do) make me difficult. when i was 13 i was angry and had a hair-trigger temper#interpreted everything in bad faith etc etc. i was difficult and a lot of work and i was suffering and deserved love and help#(which i've thankfully gotten. love my mom for always being there for me even when i WAS a nightmare)#anyway. i dont like a jaybin who was nothing but angst and rage and behavioral issues. hate it in-fact#i also dont like a jaybin w no issues n no trauma n no poor coping mechanisms and troubles#you gotta get a healthy mix. its the only way forward#once again... the answer to everything is ''people are complex and you gotta think abt things more than surface-level''

Hi, hope you're doing well!! Regarding to your post about Jason admitting that he's not feeling loved by Bruce, i have a few things to add (as the unloved feeling child lmao)
My father is a disciplined man, especially in academic terms. He'd always make rude comments about me, this goes as far as threatening to abuse me physically if i'm not doing "enough". One time, he was arguing me about my academic success and he actually told me that how he brags to his coworkers about ME. How smart and easy-going i am, how my major is really hard and i always studied away from home starting from high school and i was so brave because of this. This took me aback because he rarely tells my face that i'm enough.
I felt that post, right in my soul. We know how Bruce talks about Jason to others after his death. And probably after he came back too. The JL members, friends at the galas... How jason was a bright kid, loving, strong, brave etc... But to his face? He never did.
So, picture me this. Jason finds out about this, when he is on a mission where he encounters another member of JL. They tell him "Bruce was right about you." and he assumes the worst, words like rough, violent, agressive etc. However, they hit him with the "You're really as good as he says."
And i feel like, this actually makes it worse for him. Why is it so much easier to talk about your love and pride on your kid to a stranger than to that kid directly? Jason feels not appreciated enough and he was fully accepting of that fact until that moment. But now, hearing the words he had ached so bad to hear from a stranger, he feels like undeserving of that appreciation. He had thought that no matter what he did, bruce would never be proud of him. Now he thinks that he just doesn't deserve to hear it. (Which probably makes shit worse because it would cause an anger in him, a rightful one imo)
This could be just me projecting lmao, because i actually started crying after reading that post. Love your works so much dude, you rock.
hi! firstly, totally can relate. though, my father is a lesser man than Bruce ever would be, and the situation between us is more complex, i certainly felt flabbergasted after hearing how he praises me to others, while we literally claw on each other's throat etc, etc. sending love.
secondly, y e a h-
that's right on point with canon, too! Bruce always admits to others that Jason is the best, one of the best kids he knew, but once he is faced with Jason himself, he says the complete opposite: "you were never meant to be Robin, you cannot handle this, etc". and that's of the main problems with their relationship, isn't it? Bruce always fails to show his true feelings regarding Jason to Jason.
he mourned him, he lost half of himself the day Jason died, and everyone keep thinking that Jason is ungrateful for doubting his father's feelings regarding that, but how Jason can know? how, if what he sees is this: his father, despite being his legal-adopted father, buried him under Todd surname, not Todd-Wayne. he buried him with Sheila as if mocking the cause of his death (in reality, I assume, Bruce never investigated the details of Jason's death, which is arguably worse). he made him them memorial as a good soldier, not a son. Jason's room (despite fanon) stopped existing at one point in the Manor. he continued picking up kids in the Robin mantle, as if Jason's death meant nothing - and he became just a precautionary tale, despite dying like a hero; as a hero that Bruce taught him to be. and the moment Jason actually comes back? he gets a batarang in his neck.
and, yes, we as readers know that for Bruce it was different - that he probably buried him not as Todd-Wayne and along with his mother because he thought that Jason would want this. that memorial wasn't his doing. that his grief is about hiding things and never mentioning him, about screwing his own memories and twisting narrative to calm himself down, to drown fault at least a little bit. that Tim's situation wasn't about Bruce's choice. but we are readers, we see all POVs. Jason cannot do that. he analyses what he sees, and what he sees is indifference bordering with hatred and despise.
so, yes, Bruce can tell Clark and others that Jason was the best out of them as many times as he wants, but at the end of the day is about being able to show it to Jason, both with words and actions. because at this point, he won't be able to convince Jason just with words.

Dp x Dc AU: Damian and Ellie become friends, and for all his research into her ‘Guardian’ older siblings, he can’t seem to understand why they’re asking after his own homelife.
Ellie was an annoyance to him from the moment they met, and this unfortunately meant that her and Jon got along like a house on fire. She’d transferred to Gotham Academy in the middle of the year and clearly had no idea what a private school was like politically- She walked right up to him and declared them friends. He’d retorted something about preferring to be enemies, she immediately had a shark like grin and after school they had their first spat- which Jon immediately flew into town for upon hearing Damian’s typically fight related biometrics (which, yes, he always listened for).
Immediately upon Jon pulling them apart, Ellie asked again if they could be friends and Damian accepted. Jon is bewildered but hey! New Pal! And she can throw down! How Neat! (plus she didn’t ask how Jon appeared so quickly-he wasn’t caught flying because of their fight- success! Identity kept secret!)
Ellie eventually invites them over to her place since she lives closest to the school, and the apartment is meager if not incredibly well kept. Jazz is the one home at this time, makes them all some apple slices and ensures that they did their homework. Jon declares that Lois would love her. Jazz asks if Damian is safe at home, and she has a weird green color to her eyes for just a second when she asks, but Damian assures her that the Wayne family is merely a rambunctious one with too many children.
The next time they come by her older brother Danny is the one who is home, and he looks absolutely exhausted as he mixes instant coffee granules into his energy drink. Damian learns that he’s an engineer at WE and working night shifts- apparently Danny was home the last time they visited but was asleep. Danny also kind of looks at Damian funny for a second, and asks if he’s safe at home, Ellie protests that they can’t keep asking him and Damian defends his family once more.
Damian goes home after one of their visits and at the family dinner table if there is anything about him that reads as ‘abused child’ since he keeps getting this treatment by the Nightengale siblings. Tim doesn’t add anything towards Damian’s predicament but does explain that Danny Nightengale is off limits from the rest of the family- He’s not to be adopted and he’s not to be researched, this dude is his main engineer on a Bat project and Tim’s personal project to crack.
Jason, who happened to attend because it was Alfred’s Eggplant Parmesan night, voices that his new therapist is also a Nightengale. She’s great (the whole family has noticed) but he’s also contemplating dropping her as a therapist for... reasons. (The whole family understands that he’s in love with her and theres a betting pool around it.)
Bringing the conversation back to the start, Bruce suggests that Damian invite them over for dinner so that they can see he has a stable homelife. Tim and Jason protest but it gets ignored. Damian asks Ellie at school and she happily accepts with “Great! I can’t wait to haunt your house!”
The Nightengales arrive, and fit right in. The evening goes off without out any major issues or bumps in the road- although the entire family + Danny are all keen on Jason pursuing Jazz (who keeps refusing to comment despite blushing every other word he says to her). Ellie is adored by the whole family, though Damian does his best to threaten them away. Danny is incredibly loose lipped about the project he’s working on to Tim’s horror but Danny just kind of winks and says “this feels like a room of people that can keep a secret.” (Danny doesn’t know they’re bats, he just assumes this cause they’re all family and so nice.)
Eventually at the end of the night Bruce asks why they keep asking after Damian’s homelife and safety- what makes them so concerned? Danny just spills the beans:
“I’ve met a lot of undead in my day, but Damian was brought back to life in a way I’m still trying to understand. Like Jason? Easy peasy, got dipped in the green stuff. Damian? So Strange. Plus like the kid is like 15, it took me until 14 to die the first time but I had a portal to another dimension under my house and he lives in a mansion.”
Chaos.

An overview of expanded universe concepts referenced in Zagreus
The audio story Zagreus, as Big Finish's fiftieth main range story and their story for the fortieth anniversary of Doctor Who has a lot of continuity nods. What makes it special (and fun for me) is how many of those continuity nods are to other places in the expanded universe. I think this is really cool, and have tracked down a lot of information as to how moments in Zagreus relate to other parts of the EU.
A lot of this comes down to the stories co-authors: Garry Russell and Alan Barns. Both had been heavily involved in Big Finish to date, and both had experience writing whorniverse works outside of it as well. Russell had been a writer for both Virgin Books and BBC Books, and Barns had just finished being head writer for the Doctor Who Magazine comic a few years prior.
Since we're all listening to Zagreus, I decided it would be fun to compile a list of continuity moments that I could present to you all. Some of these are deliberate shout outs. Others might not be. I'm going to be focusing on Expanded Universe references here, as I'm assuming a general familiarity with classic who (and, honestly, the classic who references aren't the fun ones). In any case, listen to Zagreus and then enjoy this.
Part One - Wonderland
1) Okay, first of all. The Zagreus poem didn't actually originate in Zagreus or Neverland. The Sixth Doctor happily sings the first verse in Project: Twilight, which was a Big Finish audio story released almost a year before Neverland (and over two years before Zagreus).
2) The other thing to talk about up-front is that everyone is played by companion actors. Everyone who had played a companion for Big Finish thusfar appears as a different role here. Also, Anneke Wills, who had yet to reprise her role as Polly on Big Finish, plays a role here. In addition to the tv companions, this includes:
Caroline Morris, who played Fifth Doctor companion Erimem
Maggie Stables, who played Sixth Doctor companion Evelyn Smythe
Robert Jezek, who played Sixth Doctor companion Frobisher the shapeshifting penguin (he's originally from the Doctor Who Magazine comics)
Lisa Bowerman, who played Seventh Doctor companion Bernice Summerfield (she is originally from the Virgin New Adventures books)
Stephen Fewell, who played Bernice's husband Jason Kane (he is originally from the Virgin New Adventures books)
Conrad Westmaas, who would play Eighth Doctor companion C'rizz starting two stories later in The Creed of the Kromon (which was already in production when Zagreus was recorded)
aaaaaaaaaand the odd one out is Stephen Perring, who played a one-off villain in a recent Eighth Doctor audio and would play a recurring Eighth Doctor villain starting in The Creed of the Kromon
3) Charley Pollard met the Brigadier before in the Big Finish audio story Minuet in Hell. Not much to report on this one, but that's why she recognizes him.
4) That mysterious voice Zagreus hears early on in the story is John Pertwee, from recordings made before his death. Pertwee had agreed to take part in a fan film called Devious (set between The War Games and Spearhead From Space), and Pertwee's lines from it were repurposed here with his family's permission. (This is probably why the audio quality with him is as bad as it is). The fan film itself would lay dormant until 2018, when parts of it began releasing onto YouTube. You can see all currently released parts here.
5) At one point, the Doctor references checking up on the Oracle on KS-159. KS-159 is the formal name for the asteroid that houses the Braxiatel Collection, and the Oracle is a future-predicting... thing that exists on the Collection. This is established in the Virgin Book Tears of the Oracle and Big Finish book Life During Wartime, both part of the Bernice Summerfield Series.
6) Shortly afterwords, the Doctor mentions that someone once blamed him for the death of JFK. This might be a reference to the Virgin Book Who Killed Kennedy, where the Master tries to prevent the assassination in order to destabilize Earth's history. This one might also be a coincidence.
7) At one point we get the following exchange:
The Doctor: I can see things, in my mind's eye. I can see me. Thousands of mes, doing different things in different places but all at once. Alternative realities, or maybe this is an alternative, and one of those others is real. You're part of me, can't you see what I'm seeing? Zagreus: Always. The Doctor: Look there. I see myself on the planet Oblivion, facing a race called the Horde. And there, look! A tiny reality where Gallifrey isn't a planet but a timeless diamond drifting through the stars. I can see a universe where the Time Lords have terrible mind powers and another where they have ceased to exist - time wound backwards to eliminate their every trace. A planet, Earth, where the Nestenes very nearly destroyed everything and another Earth upon which I have plucked out one of my own hearts. But which is real and which are the alternatives? Zagreus: There is no alternative. The Doctor: You mean no one knows which reality is the real one? Zagreus: They are all real and primary to their inhabitants. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter. Who is there to care? They all exist. Occasionally sharing moments and eras, the rest of the time, self-contained and unaware. But all are destined to end together, and soon. The Doctor: I'm scared. Zagreus: Good. You should be.
So the gist of this exchange is, honestly, why I made the post. Pretty much every alternate universe the Doctor sees is a different Expanded Universe project done during the wilderness era. In order:
The Doctor faced off the Horde on Oblivion in the Doctor Who Magazine comic titled, well, Oblivion
The "timeless diamond" thing is (I think) a reference to the BBC Eighth Doctor Adventures books - specifically, that description is reminiscent of Timeless and Sometime Never...
The universe where Time Lords have terrible mind powers is probably intended to be the webcast Death Comes to Time (which is kinda notable as it was published after the tv movie but features the Seventh Doctor permadying), but it could theoretically also reference the Doctor Who Magazine comic Star Death
The universe where the Time Lords have been wound out of time would probably be the BBC Eighth Doctor books again - this (possibly) happens about halfway through the series.
Earth being almost destroyed by Nestenes is, I think, a reference to Auton Trilogy - three hour-long home video releases produced by BBV.
The Doctor plucking out one of his hearts is definitely the BBC Eighth Doctor Adventures - this is a somewhat inaccurate recounting of events that happened in The Adventuress of Henrietta Street.
So the general thrust of this exchange is to separate the different ongoing Doctor Who projects into distinct, equally valid alternate realities that had an overlap in the form of the tv era. I'm sure the impetus behind this was to avoid having the BBC books, DWM comics, Big Finish, or anyone else let continuity get in the way of taking the Eighth Doctor in whatever direction they wanted.
8) While looking for Charley, Zagreus says, "Yssgaorth curse you girl!" Yssgaorth is the name that the Virgin book The Pit and Faction Paradox book The Book of the War gave to the Great Vampires whom the Time Lords had a massive war with in their early history. A little bit more on that later.
9) While in the Schrodinger's Cat-Box, the Doctor lights an everlasting match. These were presented as an invention of the Doctor's in the first ever novelization, Doctor Who in an Exciting Adventure with the Daleks (it's novelizing The Daleks), and have sporadically appeared in random places in the Expanded Universe ever since.
10) At one point, Dr. Stone tells that Captain McDonnell that he should do something, "For King and Country!" That exact phrase is commonly used by The Forge, a creation of Big Finish that had prominently appeared thusfar in the audios Project: Twilight and Project: Lazarus. Think Torchwood, but with less governmental oversight and being run by a vampire. The implication is that both Dr. Stone and Captain McDonnell work for The Forge, with Project: Dionysus being one of their projects. That phrase is the only strong clue, but Dr. Stone's behavior does generally line up with what we've seen elsewhere from the Forge.
Part 2 - Heartland
11) Ouida speculates that Rassilon was behind Omega's death. The concept that Rassilon was in some way behind Omega's death was kicked around a bit and given a lot more prominence in the audio story Omega.
All that being said, the Doctor Who Magazine comic Star Death shows the actual event and has Rassilon be innocent in the event, with Omega's ship being sabotaged by an enemy from Gallifrey's future. Star Death is not being intentionally referenced here but I still wanted to bring that up for sake of thoroughness
12) Cassandra referring to science being against the ways of her Sisterhood and the references to Rassilon outlawing the Sisterhood's religion draws pretty heavily on the plot thread running through the Virgin Books (most prominently Cat's Cradle: Time's Crucible, Christmas on a Rational Planet and Lungbarrow) which established that Rassilon fought a magic vs science war against a woman named Pythia and her forces. Rassilon won the war and established science as the dominant force in the universe. Pythia killed herself and her followers left (or were exiled, depending on who you ask) Gallifrey to become the Sisterhood of Karn as seen in The Brain of Morbius. According to Gary Russell, in earlier drafts the Great Mother was intended to be Pythia, but they changed it in order to not tie themselves too far into the Virgin continuity.
13) The concept of a Commitee of Three being an investigative group of Time Lords comes from the Virgin book Blood Harvest. This notably implies that Tepesh, Ouida, and Aratra were either vampires under deep cover for them to have been granted such an important position or (what I consider more likely) they were targeted and turned after having gotten that role.
14) While the concept of Rassilon leading a war against the vampires was established on tv, it had been expanded on by both the Virgin Books, BBC Books, and Faction Paradox (Time's Crucible, The Pit, Goth Opera, Damaged Goods, Interference, and The Book of the War), giving a good deal more scope and backdrop to Tepesh's interactions with Rassilon and the Time Lord/vampire war that Tepesh and the Great Mother allude to.
That being said, Tepesh's account as the Vampires being essentially Rassilon's victims after Rassilon had fought the sisterhood and established time travel does contradict with pretty much everything above (the general timeline is that the Time Lords accidentally unleashed the vampires into the universe with their time travel experiments, before the "death" of Omega or the war against Pythia). I personally suspect that Tepesh's bloodline was from a vampiric colony founded in the universe by the vampire lords and then abandoned, which Rassilon hunted down later. (Perhaps the colony founded by the vampire deserters from the Doctor Who Magazine comic Monstrous Beauty?)
15) The concept of the Time Lord's symbiotic nuclei (aka the Rassilon Imprimatur) first came up in the tv story The Two Doctors, but basically no information was actually given about it there. It being tied to regeneration comes from the Virgin Book Love and War. The concept that Rassilon engineered regeneration popped had popped up before in a few Virgin books, including The Cystal Bucephalus (where it was attributed to the Time Lords having triple-helix DNA, which Rassilon engineered) and Lungbarrow (where it was stated that only Time Lords that were Loomed could regenerate).
Speaking of which, the books Goth Opera (Virgin) and The Book of the War (Faction Paradox) proposed as in-universe speculation that the powers of regeneration were stolen from the vampires. Interesting in light of Tepesh's claims, huh?
(oh and if you're wondering if/how this all works with the Timeless child stuff, I have good news for you. Check out my essay here that addresses that question).
16) Tepesh at one point mentions Rassilon letting "Omega and Vandekirian go to their deaths". Vandekirian was Omega's assistant aboard the starship Eurydice (and it was the Eurydice that fell into the newly created black hole) according to the Big Finish audio story Omega. In the speculations that Rassilon caused Omega's death, the story goes that he convinced Vandekirian to sabotage the Eurydice.
17) The concept of humans colonizing an abandoned/destroyed Gallifrey dates back to the Virgin book The Crystal Bucephalus. A later Faction Paradox story The Story So Far (available to read for free online here) would imply that Winkle's Wonderland was built on one of the many cloneworlds of Gallifrey created during the War in Heaven (Faction Paradox's equivalent to the Time War).
18) Romana mentions a vortisaur race in her fanfic - the Big Finish audio Storm Warning introduced vortisuars as a pterodactyl-like thing that live in the Time Vortex. She also mentions "Theta's" professor being named Luvis - Luvis was established as the name of the teacher of Omega in the audio story Omega. In-universe, this is probably a coincidence, but out of universe, given that Omega was only released a few months before Zagreus, I doubt it.
19) The Gallifreyan Watchtower (that's where Brax contacts Romana from) was established as a thing in the Doctor Who Magazine comic The Final Chapter. It's basically a central hub for Gallifrey's security systems.
20) Given how this is the Gallifrey Relisten, the appearance of Braxiatel probably doesn't come as a surprise, but for the time this was a deep a cut as any of the rest of the things I've gone on about here. First of all, this is actually the first appearance of Brax when he is actually on Gallifrey. The dude originated from the Virgin books: Theatre of War introduced him as the head of the Braxiatel Collection (an art and artifact collection) with The Empire of Glass establishing Braxiatel as something of a Gallifrey-sanctioned interventionist and the Doctor's brother. He appeared once more in Happy Endings in what amounts to a little bit more than a cameo. After that, he became a regular in the Bernice Summerfield series after Virgin lost the license to publish Doctor Who, and he was one of the few parts of the Virgin Bernice Summerfield series to follow the series when it switched to Big Finish. This, however, is his first appearance in a Doctor Who story proper since 1996. (And as an additional fun fact he wasn't even in the original plan; they were apparently hoping to have Matthew Waterhouse - who played Adric - play a "bored Castellan" here.)
21) Romana being Lord President of the Time Lords was a thing in the Big Finish audios The Apocalypse Element and Neverland, but it was set up properly in the Virgin Books. Blood Harvest was the book where Romana returned to Gallifrey from E-Space. In Goth Opera (Blood Harvest's immediate follow-up), Romana gets offered a seat on the High Council. The book Happy Endings shows she has ascended to presidency, and The Apocalypse Element picks up from there.
I will say Romana reminding K-9 of "the mirror that finally brought us back home" in the third act does contradict the Virgin Books' explanation for Romana's return. K-9 explicitly did not return with Romana in Blood Harvest however, so perhaps that was how he returned to Gallifrey (this, once again, is speculation).
Romana II's presidency had been explored more in-depth in the book Lungbarrow, but Lungbarrow featured Romana and Leela already knowing each other and being friends. If one is to assume Zagreus and Lungbarrow are in the same continuity, then Lungbarrow would have to take place after Zagreus (I have an upcoming post that'll dig into all of this a little more thoroughly).
Part 3 - Wasteland
22) I know we already saw this in Neverland, but I'm trying to be comprehensive here. Rassilon's mind existing as a guiding force for the Time Lords within the Matrix is a concept that originated from the Doctor Who Magazine comic story The Tides of Time (which, by the way, actually predates Rassilon's appearance onscreen in The Five Doctors). This was a concept that the DWM had revisited more recently with the story The Final Chapter, and I suspect Rassilon's appearance in Neverland stemmed from that.
Slight tangent, but The Final Chapter and Neverland were both written by Alan Barnes (who was one of Zagreus's cowriters) and he has stated that Neverland evolved out of concepts cut from The Final Chapter. If you are inclined to track down old Doctor Who Magazine comics online, I encourage you to check The Final Chapter out - it is a very different look at Gallifrey than Neverland and Zagreus, but it does share a lot of lifeblood with them.
Rassilon still existing in the Matrix also came up in the BBC books The Eight Doctors and Unnatural History, btw, although in their case it feels a lot more likely that they are drawing on The Five Doctors.
23) Romana has met the Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Doctors before in Goth Opera (Virgin book), The Apocalypse Element (Big Finish audio), and Blood Harvest (Virgin Book) respectively - hence, it makes sense for her to recognize Townsend, Tepesh, and Winkle on sight.
24) The Doctor referencing Polidori and Mary was part of a running reference to an unseen adventure with Mary Shelly Big Finish was doing with its Eighth Doctor audios ever since their first, Storm Warning. We would finally see that adventure proper when Big Finish released The Company of Friends in 2009.
25) Charley mentions that the Doctor has claimed to know Rasputin. The two of them met in the Third Doctor BBC book The Wages of Sin.
26) Charley mentions that the Doctor has escaped Colditz Castle - this is a reference to the Seventh Doctor Big Finish audio Colditz.
27) Romana recognizes the (image of the) Brigadier. This is because Romana, then in her first incarnation, met in the Brigadier in the BBC book Heart of TARDIS.
28) The concept that Rassilon created a "single, unchangeable history" (as stated by Winkle/the Doctor) through the Eye of Harmony was introduced in the Virgin book Christmas on a Rational Planet. This moment was shown in the Doctor Who Magazine comic The Final Chapter, and Faction Paradox's The Book of the War would name that moment the "Anchoring of the Thread."
29) The concept of a species opposed to the Time Lords who could create an alternate web of time - as Rassilon describes the Divergence - draws some pretty interesting parallels with the Enemy from the BBC books and Faction Paradox. The concept is that the Enemy are a mysterious (and still unnamed) force that in the future will challenge the Time Lords to an endless war over who gets to decide history. One of the few facts that has been explicitly stated about the Enemy (in Faction Paradox's The Book of the War) is that the Enemy has the power to create and maintain a web of time just like Gallifrey did.
30) Rassilon talks about breaking the laws of time in order to manipulate the Eighth Doctor - while it's brought to an extreme here, Rassilon did basically that in the BBC books The Eight Doctors and Unnatural History, which can totally be treated as him setting up for the events of Neverland in retrospect
31) When rattling off places on Earth the Doctor has been to, one of the places mentioned is the canals of Venice - the site of the Big Finish audio story The Stones of Venice, starring Eight and Charley.
32) The Doctor mentions people having seen a "Grey lady" in the Tardis engine rooms. The Grey Lady - who was very much another avatar of the Tardis - showed up in the Doctor Who Magazine comic story A Life of Matter and Death.
33) The Doctor openly states that he expects Romana to be dragged down by the presidency - specifically telling her to "enjoy her corruption." A more militaristic third incarnation of Romana was an antagonist to the Eighth Doctor in the BBC books The Shadows of Avalon and The Ancestor Cell (and, btw, if you take both the BBC books and Big Finish in the same continuity, it's very possible that the books take place before Zagreus for the Eighth Doctor, so he's seen the end results of Romana's corruption).
34) The bit at the end where the Doctor starts reading a book is a call-back to Storm Warning, Big Finish's first Eighth Doctor audio, which opened with him reading that same book but then getting interrupted by the plot.
35) And, finally, when this was being recorded, plans were already underway to continue Romana and Leela's story in a new audio series titled Gallifrey, which would end up being (in my opinion) the centerpiece of Big Finish's The Worlds of Doctor Who lines of stories. You might have heard of it.

I think one of the big issues with Tim is that the things that made him unique (upbringing /living family) were removed and other than that he is mostly just a modernisation/ revamp of the classic Robin for new audiences.
So Tim stans will look at a modern version of Dick Grayson (because our cartoons aren't set 40 years ago) and say it is Tim when it is just a modern Dick. Because Tim isn't as distinct as they think he is.
This is also present in BTAS Tim, people call him a fusion of Tim and Jason. But if he was called Jason instead of Tim there wouldn't be much of a fusion argument at all. It would just be considered a Jason adaptation where some Tim stans complained about design elements.
I think there is a weird issue in this fandom where people complain about characters stealing shit they had first. But Tim is especially bad in this regard.
(I once saw even someone say that treating Jason as the tragedy that was Batman's fault is stealing from Steph. This fandom goes wild with bias)
NO LITERALLY. The problem with them forcing him to be the “relatable robin” is that there’s nothing there to his character. Literally all he has is being Robin.
Pointing out the Grayson stuff is actually really interesting cause I’ve never thought about that. (This is mostly a Jason stan blog tbh) but yeah, I see that. (someone else said that Tim stole Dick’s bisexuality which is so funny adding this)
BTAS Tim is something I have discussed before a few times because that is just Jason Todd. You’re absolutely right to say there’s no fusion element that is literally Jason with Tim’s name slapped on it and he’s tortured instead of dying because it’s supposed to be more “family friendly”
I do agree with there being an issue of saying things are being stolen and I don’t think it’s just a bat thing (as in from just each other because my main outside example involves Jason) because people like to say that insinuating Jason may have been SA’d was stealing from Mia. Which I very much disagree with but now it’s not the time or place. The point is yes I absolutely agree that there is a problem with that within the fandom of not being able to acknowledge that more than one character can have the same traits. The thing with Tim is that he is such a blank slate that it’s not having similar traits. It’s just people projecting the traits of other characters on him. I think especially from Babs. I’ve seen so many things completely write her out and just have him hold her role.
That Steph and Jason thing is fucking insane lmao. Steph is my second favorite Robin after Jason. I’ll defend her to the grave even more than Jason to be honest, but that is just a crazy thing to say considering part of her character is being similar to Jason. Like. First of all, Jason came first. Second of all, she is supposed to be a reflection of him! They are supposed to be the same!!

Let's build Jason a bookshelf !
Pride and Prejudice - homeboy is an Austen fan canonically, we need at least this one.
Hamlet -do I need to say more? Do I?
Water for the elephants: He won't admit it, but the book reminds him of Dick, and he reads it any time he misses him. It's angsty enough to maintain a front while actually being a romance with a satisfying ending.
The Outsiders: It's not just that the story is relatable and really well written; it's the themes of loyalty, grief and heroism, and the imagery and hopefulness shining through, and it's the way Johnny reminds him of Roy and sometimes, after Roy's death, he will close his eyes and picture the two of them together in an abandoned church, in that quiet space safe from the war raging outside, reading Gone With the Wind while Roy provides uncharitable commentary about the characters' decisions.
Under The Whispering Door (TJ Klune): This one was gifted to him by Tim because "the main character is an asshole ghost, I thought you might relate." Of course, these idiots could talk to eachother about emotions and go to therapy, but why do that when you can bait your brother into reading a story that will help him process a bit of his relationship with his own death and the family? The worst part is, it worked great, and Jason is so upset that it became one of his favourite books. (The part about the stages of grief is scientifically inaccurate, though. He would know.)
A compilation of TS Eliot's works: Maybe it's because I'm a big fan of TS Eliot and Jason, but every time I reread one of his poems, I think about Jason and I'm sad. The Hollow Men, in particular about the fallen soldiers from WWI, hits so hard as a Jason poem, especially when you consider he lived through the explosion but died of smoke inhalation.
Flowers for Algernon: After losing Bizarro, Jason rereads it often, sitting on rooftops, every time the sky is bright enough to see the stars. He reads it out loud, and the words burn his tongue and taste bitter every time every time, but he likes to pretend his friend is listening, and feels a little less alone.
The Oresteia: This one belongs to the list Jason has read many times and should probably read less, because he projects the tragedy onto his real life and it's a bad influence that comforts him in the idea that he was doomed from the start and might as well burn the remains of the bridges with his family. Good luck trying to pry it out of his hands though! He also loves the idea of being seen at his worst, in the midst of all his hopelessness, and being loved anyway, cradled with unwavering devotion.
Frankenstein : He's a huge Mary Shelley fan, both as a person and a writer. As for Hamlet and the Oresteia, he definitely projects maybe a little too much of some of the characters, but hey, not everybody can brag that they relate to the Creature on such a visceral level.
What else would you guys add?

actually why do you think that modern batman comics writers are so bad at compelling 6-8 issue comic arcs? (obvi TT's current nw run is just robbed of any conflict that isn't straight up good guy vs bad guy and is didactic as hell to boot but i haven't really felt grabbed by anything bat-related dc has put out in the last three years). is it an unwillingness to really shake anything up?
a general lack of engaging storytelling is an endemic problem at dc that i think can be partially attributed to a bunch of bad editorial decisions — green arrow for example was only greenlit as a series because williamson was determined to write it amid all his other projects. the pacing and character work suffers as a result. it’s suuuper slow to try and read
taylor is an interesting example though because he’s a terminally online liberal gen xer who seems to write comics like he wants panels to go viral on twitter. there’s no stakes because he’s too centrist to actually put an opinion on paper that might trigger some internal reflection. he tried to call out chuck dixons violent homophobia but thanked him in the same tweet. it’s bad. he should not be in charge of a character like nightwing who’s historically had issues with authority and like….. is defined by his passion. there is a total absence of nuanced interpersonal conflict because like fanon, everyone in comics seems too afraid to have characters be actually wrong about something.
when we read sincerely interesting comics — especially main events like knightfall or murder + fugitive or no man’s land or even utrh — those comics remain interesting because the writers had a perspective and a story to tell. some of those perspectives are bad, mind, but at least there was something there. now, all these writers are online and getting both blind adoration and violent hatred which i think makes them too self conscious to legitimately try. i don’t think it’s a coincidence that the most engaging writing jason todd’s had since 2005 was written by gretchen felker martin in the furry comic, aka someone who has actual things to say.

Looking Out For You

Your childhood crush came back! Except he wears a red helmet and goes around either killing criminals or pulling some underground scheme you’ll hear about on the news. And he has beef with the Batman so why is he still adamant on looking out for you?
Please do not steal or repost any of my writing
Context: You, a secretary working for Detective Cash Tankinson’s Investigations, get mixed up in the kerfuffle between Red Hood and Batman. After a series of misunderstandings and mistakes, you find out that the criminal (?) is the Robin who had your preteen heart in a vice gripe years ago. That nice boy who you remembered that went out of his way to make you feel special, even if you never knew his true identity. You eventually moved on when he stopped showing up and Batman was paroling around with a new, younger sidekick. But now it seems that he remembers you, too, so now you have the Red Hood take up the unneeded position of your guardian angel.
Also, you’re an artist/sculptor whose projects centers around the subject of violence against women/girls because you’re an abuse survivor. Still, you decided to prioritize your day job wonder how that'll turn out
Trigger warnings: Past abuse/molestation (no rape) of reader, violence, drugs, trauma related to past abuse, Gotham being Gotham at its best (crimes being a normality), Jason’s torture and death, assault, attempted assault
No smut (yet), but ofc there’s gonna be mentions of sex and nudity
Side note: The fic does not take place in any canon timeline. Aside from following the main canon plots, everything else is going by my version (Reader’s timeline :] ).
Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with DC comics or its franchises.

Summary: The quest to earn Jason’s first college recommendation letter had gone almost too well. The second one was currently trying to make up for this by being a massive pain in the ass.
After trips to three different sacred libraries and hours of stumbling through a cave system in the dark, Piper should have wanted nothing more than to have this stupid quest over and done with.
Except, well… the completion of their quest required them to find the Mnemosyne—the Fountain of Memory. And considering no one had ever bothered to fix the mess that the Mist had made of Leo and Piper’s memories, or the mess that the Queen of the Heavens had made of Jason’s… maybe there were things Piper wanted just a little more than going home.
Word Count: ~6K
Rating: Teen and Up
I did hope to eventually do at least some key moments from Jason’s college recommendation letter quests, so here’s one of them! So so stoked to finally be sharing my @lost-trio-week fics with you guys! I’m really excited about the event, I cannot wait to read everyone’s works and look at people’s art!!
This was technically written for the Wilderness prompt, but did end up a little nod to the Nickname prompt, too.
There’s some valgrace in this, but it’s relatively minor. This is, first and foremost, a fic focused on both the lost trio in general and Leo and Piper’s friendship specifically.
———
As they approached the third hour of stumbling through the dark underground tunnels, still looking like varying degrees of drowned rat in their drying, muddy clothes, Piper decided that this quest was much worse than the previous one had been.
For all that had gone wrong on the quest to earn Jason’s first college recommendation letter, it had been clear Apollo had at least intended to give them an easy win as an apology for temporarily getting Jason killed the previous year.
Mnemosyne had clearly had no such restraint. It wasn’t that the Titaness had been unkind—she’d been nice enough when they’d spoken to her—but she’d taken one look at them, decided they seemed competent and given them a quest that was a massive pain in the ass.
They were looking for the Mnemosyne—the Fountain of Memory—which had the exact same name as the Titaness for maximum confusion.
One of the children of Moneta, Mnemosyne’s Roman aspect, had been involved in an unfortunate Lethe-related incident on their last mission and had since had a worrying amount of memory problems. This would have been disturbing enough for your average demigod, but considering that poor kid’s whole power set revolved around memories, they’d taken things really badly.
The three of them had immediately agreed to help—honestly might have even if it hadn’t been for the college recommendation letters. They were all uncomfortably familiar with the concept of demigod memory issues and wouldn’t have wished that on anyone.
Piper still stood by that decision, even as they continued to stumble through the dark with only Leo’s fire lighting the way, as a little dip in an underground river had utterly wrecked their flashlights.
The issue Piper had with this mission didn’t come from what they were trying to achieve. It came from the fact that they’d gone through three different sacred libraries in different parts of the country in search of a flask that could hold the black waters of the Fountain, only to learn afterwards that the main part of the Fountain was in the Underworld.
Maybe this would have been fine, but no version of Eurydice in the myths had ever lived to touch the sunlight again, and none of them had been all that eager to find out what might happen if they took Jason back into the Underworld.
Unfortunately, this meant they had to deal with the only other place they knew that might still hold the water of the Fountain, if they were lucky: the Bluespring Caverns in Indiana, aka the residence of the Oracle of Trophonius.
As in: the very same place that Lester and Meg had partially blown up as a precaution about a year ago.
Originally, the Fountain had been above ground. But whatever explosive had been used to destroy the caverns had done its job so thoroughly that it had taken the waters with it, which made them much harder to find than they’d initially hoped.
The cave system was as vast as it was currently unstable, and it made for quite the experience. Several times, Piper had found herself wishing they had Hazel with them.
When, after hours of wandering around semi-aimlessly, the cave in front of them widened into a cavern and they could finally, finally hear the sound of running water that sounded more like a stream and less like a river, the three of them let out a collective sigh of relief.
“Wow, that stuff really is pitch black,” Leo concluded, holding his flaming hand over the river so he could take a proper look. “So, how do we find out if this is really the Mnemosyne and not, like, the grimiest stream of all time? Because, as the guy who has the most experience with Titans between the three of us, trust me, if Calypso had sent me to find magic memory water and I’d presented her with a bottle full of mud instead, she would not have found that especially funny.”
Before Piper could suggest something really foolish—like how one of them should try drinking the waters and seeing if it fixed the holes in her own memories, which she’d been secretly hoping to do ever since they’d gotten this mission—a figure took shape in front of them.
“You’ve come to the right place,” the Titaness confirmed before she’d even fully taken form. Her dark hair blended nicely into the general darkness of the cavern. Her luminous white robes, which were almost startlingly bright, were still covered in black words like they’d been the first time they’d met her, which definitely did not help her beat the walking e-reader allegations.
The words seemed to have shifted. Maybe someone had skipped a few pages on her cloak since the last time they’d seen her.
“How’s Zac doing?” Jason asked immediately, clearly worried. It didn’t matter that he didn’t know this kid. Of course he was worried about them. He had first-hand experience with having his memories utterly shaken out of him.
“They’re still very confused.” Mnemosyne sighed. “But the waters will help.”
Piper tried not to be annoyed. If the Titaness could have appeared by the stream any time she wanted, why hadn’t she just taken the waters to her child herself?
But she knew by now that things were just like that in their world. There were rules, and gods didn’t do their own quests if they could send random demigods to fetch their magic items instead. That wasn’t ever going to change.
“So, did you just pop up here to confirm we’re not about to gather mud water?” Leo asked, raising an eyebrow.
“No.” The Titaness eyed the stream, then looked between the three of them. “I wasn’t sure how much of the Fountain would be left after everything that happened here last year, or I would have made you this offer much sooner. But if the three of you wish to have your own memories restored, you may drink.”
Piper’s body went rigid, and she could tell Leo and Jason were just as affected. Apparently all three of them had had the same thought for the entire mission—that this might be their one chance to finally get back the memories that Hera and the Mist had taken from them.
“How- how did you know-” Jason asked, startled.
“I’m the Titaness of memory, child.” She smiled at him. “I never forget a story, and yours is quite unique. I’ve heard it told many times, and I remember each version in detail.”
“That sounds like a massive headache waiting to happen,” Leo muttered.
The Titaness laughed. “Perhaps. It can be both a blessing and a curse. But I knew you three have had parts of your memory taken from you, and it was not hard to guess you might wish to regain it. Memory is powerful. It shapes us into who we are as people. Mortals aren’t made to retain all memories, of course, but losing too many can utterly reshape their being.” She eyed Jason with a curiosity in her eyes that Piper really did not like. “I’ll admit, part of the reason I offered you this quest was that I wanted to meet you, Jason Grace. I was intrigued to see who you’d become, with so much of your sense of self stripped away.”
The way she spoke wasn’t unkind, but it was a tone Piper was used to with most gods—one that suggested demigods served mainly as a source of entertainment for higher powers, with no regard for how it made them feel.
“And? Happy with the results?” Piper snapped.
Even in the dark, she could tell Jason was trembling. She moved to stand beside him. Apparently, Leo had had the same impulse—within a moment, they were flanking Jason.
“The path he might have carved with his memories intact would have been very different from the one he carved with them gone,” Mnemosyne said, tone gentle. “It’s important for me to reflect on this, every now and again. The way forgetting can be just as powerful as remembering. Lethe and Mnemosyne balance each other out for a reason. Your friend served as an excellent reminder.”
“I understand that Juno did what she had to do, at the time,” Jason said quietly. He squeezed Piper’s hand. They hadn’t been dating for more than a year, and they were better off for it, but their natural instinct for comforting touches had stayed. “I wouldn’t change what’s happened for anything. But now that the camps are united… is it selfish? To want to remember?”
“Not at all. Being the Titaness of memory, I may be slightly biased on the matter, but wanting to remember has always seemed like a natural instinct to me.” She smiled at him. “The waters could return your memories. Restore what was yours. But you must know that it will restore all of them. Memories can be a heavy burden, sometimes.”
“Is it safe? Drinking from the stream?” Piper asked hesitantly.
“For you and Valdez? Utterly.” Mnemosyne confirmed immediately. “The memories you’ve lost are still within you. A single sip is all you’ll need.”
“And for Jason?” Piper probed, not liking the fact that he'd been left off the list one bit.
“He’ll need to drink more deeply than you two. It’s not without dangers. The memories may overwhelm him.” Mnemosyne turned towards Jason again. “I’m grateful for everything you’ve done to help my child. You will have your recommendation letter regardless of whether you choose to drink. But know that if you choose not to regain your memories now, it’s likely you never will. The more time passes, the greater the dissonance will be between the person you were in those memories and the person you’ve grown into without them. Even now, there’s no telling how well you’ll handle this fact. Waiting longer… it would simply be too dangerous.”
Piper knew Jason wouldn’t reject the waters just because it was risky to drink them. He’d gone through two quests assuming he was destined to die. He’d never been as scared for his own well-being as would have probably been good for him.
Besides, she’d heard the way he talked about Reyna. He’d forgotten so much—felt so detached from the memories he didhave—that only the shape of loving her remained. And for all of Piper’s insistence that that shape could be filled with new memories, she knew that it had never felt like that was enough to Jason.
She knew what he’d say even before the words left his mouth.
“I’ll do it.” Jason wrung his hands. “I want to remember who I was. All of it. Even the bad parts. It’s a burden I don’t want to keep living without.”
The Titaness seemed to like this answer.
“I’ll leave you to the privacy of your memories, then,” she announced, disappearing in a swirl of letters.
Piper wasn’t sure there could be any real privacy, considering she was the Titaness of memory and this was her stream, but she appreciated the sentiment.
~~~~
They gathered some of the water up in a flask. It was far more than Zac would need—Mnemosyne had said that a gulp or two should be more than enough to fix them right up—but they figured it couldn’t hurt to have extra, just in case the usual shenanigans happened or someone else might need the power of the waters in the future. Who knew how long this stream was going to stick around here. It was pure luck that it had even still been here at all, linked as it was to the destroyed Oracle. There was a good chance it would shift and reappear elsewhere in the future, and who knew how soon they’d be able to find it again when that happened.
Once Leo had safely stored the flask in his tool belt, the three of them kneeled side by side at the bank of the stream.
Jason was trembling, staring intently into the water but making no move to touch him.
“Whatever happens, we’ll be right here with you, okay?” Leo said gently, one arm wrapping around his boyfriend’s shoulder.
“It’s just… what if I remember who I was and decide I don’t like myself?” Jason asked, voice suddenly small. There was clearly more he wanted to say. Piper could tell he was afraid.
But Jason had never been good at letting himself be vulnerable.
Thankfully, Leo had the situation handled. He elbowed his boyfriend, raising an eyebrow. “Are you implying I have a terrible taste in men? Because I cannot let that stand.”
He leaned forward and kissed him.
Jason laughed, despite everything.
“You always manage to make me feel better. I don’t know how you do it,” he said, voice full of fond awe. He took Leo’s face in his hands, sighing contently. “I love you so much.”
“Aw, I’m dating a complete sap.” Leo grinned. He flicked Jason in the head and kissed him again.
Maybe Piper should have felt awkward watching them. Third-wheeling your best friends when you were newly single would probably not have been most people’s favorite activity.
But Piper had spent the better part of a year grieving Leo and three months with the gaping hole Jason’s death had left in her chest. Seeing them alive and well and so genuinely happy together after everything that had happened made her heart swell.
This didn’t mean she wouldn’t give them shit about it, though.
Piper whistled, grinning widely at them.
“Hey lovebirds! We should probably get a move on with the memory stuff if we want to make it back to the Waystation before dark.”
“Buzzkill!” Leo complained, chuckling.
“That is my job description as your best friend, yes,” Piper confirmed, pulling them both into a tight hug. “No matter what happens next, we’ll handle it together. We’ve been through much, much worse.”
~~~~
Jason gulped down a handful of stream water and was out like a light within three seconds.
This just left Leo and Piper conscious on the bank of the stream.
Maybe it would have been smart to take turns with this—have two of them drink and the third stand guard until the others woke up—but as difficult as this place had been to find, Piper doubted any random monster would be unlucky enough to just wander in here.
Besides, she was itching to touch the waters herself. The thought of getting her Wilderness School memories back almost made her vibrate out of her skin with excitement.
No more random flashes of Jason where he hadn’t been. No more fake memories overwriting the friendship her and Leo had shared. She couldn’t stand the thought of waiting even a second longer.
“Hang on,” Leo said, grabbing her arm before she could reach into the stream. “I mean, obviously I get why Jason needed this. But are we sure we even want to remember?”
Piper’s first instinct was to protest that they’d wanted this for so long—that they’d spent forever mourning those first few months of their friendship, thinking they’d never get a chance like this—but the look in her best friend’s eyes gave her pause. Apparently, Jason hadn’t been the only one of them who was afraid.
She put a hand on Leo’s shoulder, squeezing it gently.
“What are you worried about?”
“I’ve been thinking, and… what if all of it was fake? What if all the memories we have of Wilderness School were Hera just making things up so we’d do her stupid quest?”
“You think maybe we weren’t really friends before that day at the Grand Canyon?” Piper asked, heart clenching at the thought.
Over the past two years, she had gotten occasional flashes of Wilderness School memories with Leo that hadn’t featured Jason, and she’d always assumed those were her real memories. But what if Leo was right? What if that had just been a second layer of Hera-induced nonsense? What if she’d spent this whole quest hoping to get memories back that didn’t even exist, and the reality of Wilderness School had just been them being lonely and miserable in separate corners of the school?
“Yeah. Maybe we didn't even know each other aside from being classmates,” Leo mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck and refusing to meet her eyes. “Or worse, maybe you, like, hated me or something. What if you get those memories back, and you suddenly decide that you do find me annoying?”
“Hey,” Piper said, pulling him into a hug. “I think you’re plenty annoying now, but that’s never stopped me from wanting to be your best friend,” she teased, squeezing him tightly. “And if Wilderness School Piper really did hate you for whatever reason, I’m just gonna have to tell her off for having shit opinions about my best friend. End of story.”
“Okay,” Leo said shakily. He buried himself in the embrace, squeezing back just as hard. “Okay. I just… you’re my best friend, and I…” he trailed off. His voice was watery.
“I know. But whatever we were back then can’t take away what we are now. Trust me on that one.” Piper rubbed his back soothingly. She could feel herself tearing up, too. “If you originally thought Wilderness School Piper sucked? Tough luck. You’re not getting rid of me ever again.”
“Sorry. I’m getting better about this, I swear. I know you guys love me so much. I just- I don’t want to lose you, ever.”
“I get it. The feeling is very much mutual.” Piper gave him a watery smile.
“I don’t really want to spend my whole life wondering if we had memories together from before,” Leo continued, voice growing steadier. “If we were friends back then, I want to remember every moment of it. And hey, maybe I actually do want to remember it even if I did think you sucked at first. I was really good at keeping people at arm’s length back then. Remembering how that changed with you and Jason… maybe that wouldn’t be the worst thing.”
They kneeled next to each other at the pitch black river, leaning down to gather up a small handful of black water each.
“Ready?” she asked, glad to have Leo by her side for this.
He smiled more genuinely now. “Bottom’s up.”
They drank—a small sip, and no more than that.
The water had no taste, but the feel of it was intense. It was a numbing kind of cold that reminded Piper of the anesthetics she’d been given when she’d broken her arm as a child. She remembered the doctor asking her a question or two. She remembered giving nonsense answers.
In a few seconds, the world had faded into nothingness, just like it did now. The cavern surrounding her disappeared, turning as black as the water of the stream.
*******
Remembering felt like walking into a dream and like waking up all at once.
Piper was fifteen again, staring intently out of the window of her Wilderness School classroom and tuning out the teacher. Suddenly, the door had banged open, and there he was—Leo Valdez. He had his arms spread out and bowed mockingly, a cheeky grin on his face. She’d known immediately that this boy would spell trouble.
“You’re fifteen minutes late!” the teacher had protested, which had just made Leo’s grin widen.
“Hey, I figured if I was going to join the class mid-semester, I might as well make a grand entrance. Punctuality is bad for grand entrances, you know.”
The teacher had looked at him in displeasure. Then she’d said the words that were about to make her own life significantly worse, and Leo and Piper’s lives significantly better.
“You’re sitting in front with McLean, where I can keep an eye on you.”
He’d rolled his eyes, but dropped into his assigned chair regardless, not bothering to unpack his bag.
They hadn’t really talked much during that first class they’d shared. Leo had spent the whole time tinkering with some unidentifiable object made of screws, bolts and rubber bands.
Piper had pretended it didn’t bother her. She hadn’t felt like anyone at this stupid school wanted to be her friend since she’d first arrived there, and she’d convinced herself she was fine with that.
It wasn’t like she’d ever really managed to make friends who were interested in her as a person rather than her celebrity dad. That was never going to change.
Except, well… Piper’s pen had gone out of ink, and a moment later, the new guy had wordlessly pushed one of his pens in her direction.
“Don’t give her your stuff,” someone in the row behind them had warned Leo in a stage whisper. Piper had known instantly that their classmate had wanted her to hear every word. “Piper’s here because she’s a klepto. You’re never getting that pen back.”
Piper had been fuming, getting ready to retaliate, but the new kid had been quicker on the draw than her.
“Good. I fucking hate that pen.” Leo had smiled at her, then whirled on the person behind them, speaking loud enough that the whole class heard. “And what are you here for? Because, unlike me, you’re clearly not at risk of getting arrested for your winning personality.”
The girl’s face had gone as red as her stupid hair. Several of the kids around them had started snickering, Piper very much included.
“I can deal with these idiots by myself,” she’d told him afterwards. “But I do appreciate the sentiment.”
“Noted. I just can’t stand people like that. Would gladly watch you take her down a couple notches from the passenger seat sometime, though.” He’d grinned at her. “The name’s Leo, by the way.”
“Piper.”
She’d known they would be friends, then.
~~~~ The roommate thing had come as a surprise to both of them. Wilderness didn’t really do co-ed rooming.
But Leo had apparently managed to piss off three roommates in just as many days, and since they’d chatted a few times in class and sat together at lunch twice, someone in the faculty had apparently decided that, if nothing else, Piper was at least very unlikely to beat Leo up.
“What did you even do to piss Tyler off that much?” she’d asked, allowing Leo to sit on the bottom bunk that had belonged to her for the past month while he pressed an ice pack to his face. “I mean, I know the guy’s got a short fuse, but usually it takes him longer than a few hours of knowing a person to flip his shit like that.”
Leo had shrugged. “Apparently he liked his previous roommate. Came as a shock to me, too—I didn’t think he liked anyone.”
”Just that?”
“Okay, admittedly, the 3 am tinkering probably didn’t help,” he’d amended. “Fair warning: I don’t do well with sleep. Or silence. Or most things, really. If you get sick of rooming with me—which I’m sure you will—don’t worry. I won’t bother you for long.”
~~~~
Leo had tried to make good on that promise less than a week later, when Piper had woken up to him noisily breaking their window lock at one in the morning.
“What in the world are you doing?” she’d asked, eyes wide. She’d crawled out of her bunk to see Leo standing in the dark with a backpack slung over his shoulder and a makeshift tool that looked a little like a torture device in his hand. “You’re leaving?”
The memory was vivid now—the way her heart had dropped into her gut at that moment. It had startled her, then, just how much the thought of Leo leaving had terrified her when they’d barely known each other for a week and a half.
What right did she have to feel this level of attachment to a guy she barely knew? Sure, they’d talked, and she’d made the teachers cut him some slack about homework a few times. Sure, they’d sat together at lunch for all of the past week.
But there was so much she hadn’t known about Leo at the time. So much he hadn’t known about her.
They had, for all intents and purposes, still been strangers.
But they’d been less strangers than any of the other people she’d met at this school—or, honestly, most people she’d met in the years before that. Leo made her laugh. Being around him was the happiest she’d felt in months.
The thought of him leaving her…
“I’m just going up to the roof,” he’d told her. “It’s kind of stuffy in here, and I really need to stretch my legs. Realized earlier that the fire escape outside our window goes up, too, so I figured why not?”
A lie. Piper knew it now like she’d known it back then.
She couldn’t have asked him to stay. Not under those circumstances. But there had been something she could do.
“Can I join you?” she’d asked. “The view’s probably pretty great, and you did wake me up, so might as well make the most of it.”
At least admit you’re leaving, she’d thought. At least tell me goodbye.
Leo had hesitated for a moment, but then his face had softened into a small smile.
“You know what? What the hell. I guess I wouldn’t mind company.” He’d looked her over. “You might want to change into something that isn’t pajamas, though. Unless, of course, your goal is to freeze to death so you won’t have to go on that stupid survival trip we’ve got scheduled tomorrow. Which, you know, would be completely understandable.”
Piper hadn’t pointed out that Leo was only wearing a t-shirt and shorts himself. She hadn’t known he couldn’t get cold back then.
They’d spent the whole night lying on the roof, just talking about a whole bunch of nothing for hours and hours. Piper had pointed to some of the constellations her dad had taught her when she’d been little.
Her dad… she still didn’t know entirely why she’d done it, but when the moon had started to dip towards the horizon, she’d told Leo the truth about her father.
“Hang on. Tristan McLean like the movie star?” Leo had looked at her with wide eyes. “I thought having that kind of money got you out of just about anything. What in the world did you steal to still end up here?”
“Technically, I didn’t steal anything,” Piper had said quietly. She hadn’t expected him to believe her. No one ever did. “I did get a car salesman to lend me a BMW, though.”
Leo had laughed wildly. “You may be the craziest person I’ve ever met. And trust me, that’s a compliment.”
“Gee, thanks,” Piper had told him, but she had let out a small chuckle of her own.
Then, Leo had done something that had really surprised her. For the first time, he’d shared a little bit of himself.
“I’m a tragic orphan, personally. I’ve been through a bunch of foster homes since I was eight.” He’d shrugged. “I’m not really great at sticking around. That’s how I ended up here.”
You stuck around tonight, she hadn’t said. “They can do that? Stick you in a correctional facility for running away?”
“Apparently.” He’d shrugged again. “I’m kind of jealous. Your backstory is much cooler than mine.”
They’d declared that roof their secret hiding spot after, using it to stash snacks they weren’t supposed to have and skip gym whenever Hedge was being particularly annoying. It was the first place they’d ever carved out that had truly felt like theirs.
~~~~
Piper remembered venting to Leo about her dad and his stupid assistant—something she’d never, ever gotten to do with anyone else before this. She’d complained about the last birthday present she’d gotten: a makeup kit that had clearly been picked out by her dad’s assistant, along with a card that misspelled her name as “Pipes”.
She remembered Leo joking that clearly he should be Pipes, because he was smokin’—a joke that was made even worse by the fact that Leo had fire powers, which she hadn’t known at the time.
“What about you?” she’d asked eventually. “When’s your birthday?”
“I don’t do birthdays, Pipes,” Leo had said, smirking at her. Was that where the nickname had come from? “Tragic orphan, remember? Besides, I ended up here for being a serial runaway. No way in hell I’m sticking around until my next birthday.”
“Then there’s no harm in telling me.”
“I guess. If you really want to send me a birthday card from juvie, I suppose I’ll let you know what bridge to address it to ahead of time.” He’d paused. “Sorry, stupid joke. Rich girls don’t go to juvie.”
But he had told her. He’d done it claiming it wouldn’t matter, sure. But Piper knew him now, in a way she hadn’t back then. Saw the slight change in his posture. The way his smile melted into something a fraction more vulnerable. That she’d wanted to know had mattered to him.
As much as Leo spoke of leaving, she’d never woken to him halfway out the window again after that.
~~~~
The memories kept crashing over her. Weeks upon weeks of sitting together at lunch and late night conversations and passing notes in class. Of playing stupid pranks on their classmates as well as each other. Of carefully letting down their walls, brick by brick, until they could at least mostly see each other past their respective barriers.
There’d been a lot they hadn’t talked about back then, but even when they weren’t talking, the fact that they’d had someone to sit with and say nothing to had been a welcome novelty for both of them.
Piper remembered her dad not showing up on the weekends he’d promised to come visit, and how Leo had never pointed it out, but had always made backup plans so they’d have something fun to do to distract her.
She remembered how down Leo had been on what she now knew was the anniversary of his mom’s death. She hadn’t known exactly what was up with him, at the time—just that something was. She remembered roping him into a kitchen heist. She remembered sitting in their shared room afterwards, laughing, handing the tub of strawberry ice cream back and forth until they both felt sick.
She remembered coming down with that stupid cold in late November that had left her bedridden for a week, and how Leo had skipped class and gotten himself in trouble just so he could sit with her, rambling excitedly about some projects he was tinkering with and how they could be misused in the next pranks they’d planned. She remembered being snuck several cups of chocolate pudding in an attempt to cheer her up—which had tasted strangely better than the one the cafeteria usually served.
Back then, Leo had claimed her taste buds were probably just wonky because she was sick.
She realized now that he’d probably made it for her.
~~~~
Piper remembered the meteor shower—gods, the meteor shower. The memory that she’d spent forever thinking of as her first date with Jason.
She remembered Leo dragging her up to their spot on the roof, his whole face alight in excitement. Remembered them sitting together on a picnic blanket for hours, watching light streaking across the night sky.
“You were right, by the way. About what I was up to that night I broke our window lock,” he’d told her quietly, when it was already late into the night. “I was going to leave. I’m still not sure why I didn’t.”
“Do you regret it?” she’d asked. “Staying?”
“Pretty much every time Hedge makes us run laps.” He’d grinned up at her. “But then I look back to see you eating my dust, and I think, hey, maybe this isn’t so bad.”
“Aw, you like being around me that much?” she’d teased, and- oh. Oh no.
Piper felt the mortification of that moment slam back into her as the rest of the memory hit her like a truck.
“Maybe,” he’d said, looking up to meet her eyes. “Hey Pipes? Can I do something really stupid?”
“Past evidence suggests that you very much can,” she’d told him, feeling weirdly shy all of a sudden.
And then he’d leaned forward and kissed her.
She’d thought about kissing him before that moment—about how she’d never loved anyone like she loved Leo. If there was any boy in the world she’d want to kiss, it had to be him.
She remembered the exact moment it had hit them both that this wasn’t it. They’d jumped apart so abruptly that Leo had nearly toppled backwards off the roof.
“Careful!” Piper had yelled, and Leo had gone rigid where he stood, thankfully unharmed. “Jeez, Leo. The kiss was bad, but throwing yourself off the roof over it seems a little dramatic.”
Relief had unspooled in her chest when she’d seen the grimace on his face and known it hadn’t just been her.
“Nope, that was completely warranted,” Leo had told her, wiping at his mouth, her own relief mirrored in his expression. “Sorry, Piper, you’re really great and I love you to death, but let’s never do that again.”
“Gladly,” she’d agreed without hesitation. “If I could forget this ever happened in the first place, I would.”
Current Piper wanted to smack herself a little bit for tempting fate like that, despite the fact that she sort of shared the sentiment. That was the one memory she wouldn’t have minded losing permanently.
*******
When Piper woke, it only took a second or two more for Leo to jolt awake next to her, which made sense, seeing as they’d been reliving the same memories.
“Morning, sleepyhead,” she teased, trying to find a sense of normality in all the things she was feeling right now.
“Well, this is officially the most embarrassed I’ve ever been about something I did over two years ago,” Leo groaned, burying his face in his hands. “Why did we do that?”
“You ended on the memory of the kiss, too, then?” Piper asked, cringing.
“You should have just let me fall off that roof,” he joked, shaking his head.
“Death isn’t getting you out of this friendship. You’ve already tried that, remember?” She pulled him into a tight hug—this stupid fool that she’d never, ever wanted to kiss, and that held half of her soul regardless. Her face felt wet. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d felt this fragile and vulnerable and utterly whole. “I don't regret getting my memories back. I can’t believe all of that was you. I can’t believe we almost lost it forever.”
Leo held her just as tightly.
“Yeah, I-” He sniffled. “That would have really sucked, hm?”
If there was any merit to the myth that humans had originally been two-headed, four-armed, four-legged beings that Zeus had split in two, there wasn’t a flicker of doubt in Piper’s mind that Leo had been hers—the half she’d spent her whole life searching for.
Their love didn’t need to be of the romantic variety for that to be true.
~~~~ For the longest time, they stayed like this, just holding each other.
It took much longer for Jason to wake up. This didn’t really come as a surprise to either of them. Piper and Leo had only lost a few months of memories, and regaining those had knocked them out for almost half an hour.
Jason was missing the majority of his life.
They sat with him the whole time, each of them holding one of Jason’s hands between their own to remind him he wasn’t alone—to lead him back, if necessary.
“He’s got this, right?” Leo asked anxiously. “I don’t know what I’d do if-”
“None of that,” Piper interrupted him. “I’ve warned you both what would happen if you died on me again. He’s not going to risk that. He’ll be fine.”
“Okay.” Leo wiped at his eyes. “Okay, you’re right.”
“What would you do without me, hm?” she asked, grinning at him.
“Steal much less cars, probably,” he said, grinning right back.
“Fuck off,” Piper told him, laughing. “I’ve returned almost all the cars we’ve borrowed for demigod emergencies, and I’ll have you know that we’re using an actual rental this time.”
“Somehow, the thought that someone would let you rent a car is even scarier. I’ve seen how you drive.”
“Shut up.”
Before she could think of another, wittier remark, Jason started to stir between them.
He made a confused noise, looking up at them with a hazy expression.
Leo leaned down to press a kiss to his boyfriend’s forehead. “Hey, Superman. How are you feeling?”
“Leo? Piper?” Jason’s eyes slowly started to clear.
“That’s us,” Piper agreed, trying to ignore the growing unease in her chest.
The way Jason spoke sounded different—a little more stern. Something about the look in his eyes was different, too, though she couldn’t quite pin down what it was.
When he sat up, his movements seemed stiffer. More controlled. It reminded her of the Jason they’d met all the way back at the Grand Canyon, and not in a way she liked.
She tried to remind herself that this was to be expected—he’d just gotten the vast majority of his memories shoved back in his head after living without them for more than two years. Of course he was different. It would have been weirder if he hadn’t been.
This didn’t mean that he wouldn’t still be their Jason.
But then he opened his mouth again, and her blood turned to ice.
“Get up. We need to move.”
He said it like a general giving orders to his troops.

Fic notes:
Someone please take Piper McLean away from me, I cannot bring myself to shut my darling girl up (I do not mean this, don’t you dare take her away from me actually)
Yesterday this fic was 2k words long. It’s now 6k words. I have spent all day on this and am now feeling thoroughly unwell. So glad you’re here to feel unwell with me!
If you’re wondering what the hell is wrong with Jason at the end there, the answer is getting his memories back, including all of the traumatic ones, mayyy have messed him up a little. Are things going to be okay? Well, wouldn’t you like to know! There will be a sequel fic to this one that’s from Jason’s POV, but that one isn’t written yet and isn’t a lost trio week fic, so you’ll have to wait a little longer before you get answers on that one. Sorry!
For now, I’ve got lots of fun stuff planned for Lost Trio Week, though! The fic for tomorrow’s prompt is going to be late, though I will at least tease that it’s a Star Wars Crossover and shall be posting a snippet on here tomorrow, if nothing else!
Most of the other fics are already written and just need to be edited. I’m very excited to share them with you all.
Thank you so much for reading! Hope you enjoyed! Comments immensely appreciated as always!
I’m having so much fun with this event, and I’m hoping so is everyone else!

Connor Reynolds is the reason the whole AGGGTM trilogy happens.
So I just recently bought KillJoy and The Reappearance of Rachel Price with every bit of excitement and dread to read them. it took me 3 days (reading like a chapter or 3 a day) to finish KillJoy. Through that I realised something that hurt my soul.
!! Spoilers below for KillJoy, AGGGTM, GGBB, and AGAD !!
I'm gonna start off with a statement. I love Connor, he's great, love him to pieces and I can't wait to see Jude play a more main role in season 2. That being said, he is the cause of the entire trilogy. Hear me out.
KillJoy is the prequel to the trilogy, it happens like a month or two before the events it seems as Pip is yet to choose her EPQ project topic.
The story in that book is really sweet and I hope after we get season 3, we get this book in like a mini movie or a mini thing because it would just be fun for the actors I think.
This story is Connor's birthday, he chooses the have a 1920s murder mystery themed party where everyone dresses up and plays the part in a clue style who done it. Pip is Celia Bourne, Zach is Ralph Remy, Ant is Bobby Remy, Lauren is Lizzie Remy, Cara is cook Dora Key and Connor is butler Humphrey Todd. Spooky shit happens, Pip at first isn't interested but gets so invested by the end, everyone is sus and having fun. By the end of it, we find out the killer was Ant, Bobby Remy after Pip went on a whole spiel about the murder being premeditated and planned by the person killed, how the police man was in on it and how Ralph was the killer... she's salty and seething.
On the way home from that party, Pip is in Elliot's car with Zach and Cara, driving home when Elliot slams the breaks after seeing someone but playing it off and keeps driving. Pip sees who it was though, it was Ravi but Elliot must have thought it was Sal for a second. The last line of the book is 'i think I know what i'm going to do my project on', which we know is the Andie Bell case. Seeing Ravi that day after a murder mystery where Ant kept joking about Sal being the killer, sparked Pip's interest on the case - possibly for the first time since she was a kid - and sent her into the rabbit hole that becomes her life. Without that party, she might not have thought of doing the Andie case.
That's just Connor being the start, my boy furthers her torture later too!
Obviously Connor is there for the first book, supporting and being a good friend, book two comes around tho... and he's still being a good friend, Connor has done no wrong.
Book two. Good Girl, Bad Blood. The book where Pip's trauma gets turned to 100. The whole plot is Connor asking for Pip's help finding his older brother, Jamie, who went missing one day without notice. This one simple ask leads down the rabbit hole of Layla mead, Luke Eaton, their English teacher Adam Clark and Stanley Forbes. Through that she also found the Child Brunswick case and all normalcy Pip thought she had went down the drain. She found out Stanley was Child Brunswick, that her new neighbour was related to a victim of Stanley's father, that Jamie had sent money and planned to murder for Layla and got kidnapped by Stanley to keep them both safe.
Pip did a lot for this case and all she got at the end? A guy she grew to care about dying in her arms in a burning building, getting covered in his blood and dragging him from the flames. Pip lost all semblance normalcy from watching a guy die from 6 bullets to the chest (this scene will break me in the show... I am interested in how they deal with Stella being used as a catfish for this... they casted a black women and I really hope they photo shop her braids or whatever to be badly done blonde and that's it... it'd be funny, and canon)
All of that caused by Connor worrying for his brother and asking Pip and her podcast to help find him.
Those events lead into Jason hearing how much of a genius detective Pip is and targeting her, bringing back his DT killer days for his 6th victim. Stick figures, 'Dead girl walking' (if they don't use even a cover or something of the heathers song I will be mad), the headless pigeons, the spam calls. Pip thinks that the way to get past the trauma she has is - not to go to therapy and get professional help - to get on drugs and try to solve her own possible murder before it happens...
Clearly Pip is great with decision making... the traumatised fuck decides to try and hunt for her own stalker as if it will help her and ends up being kidnapped and almost killed! Then she becomes a murderer by choice - she ran away and came back there for it was no longer technically self defence... maybe? - and roped her boyfriend into microwaving a dead body to keep herself from being a suspect!
After literally murdering a man - for good reason - goes home and sets up a bleach bath for everything, then to Luke for drugs then to her friends places, gets Jamie Connor and Nat to help her, drugging and stealing from max, and then to McDonalds with Cara and Naomi to get a fuckin alibi! She then sets up the scene of the supposed murder max committed with Ravi's help.
And then after all of this, she thinks the smartest idea is to leave! To leave Little Kilton and ghost everyone! If only the police were actually useful in this town and Pip went to therapy after Stanley died.
I still fully want a scene, at the end of a season 3 if and when we get it, of Pip returning to Little Kilton after the case ends and the text from Ravi. Pip used to not being noticed, going around and looking for where her friends lived and knocking on their doors, saying hi and hugging and being able to be with those she loves again. then just like the end of Season 1, Ravi and Pip kiss and its super cute!
That being said... All that shit happened because Connor hosted a 1920s murder themed party for his birthday and Pip got interested in the Andie case... Connor is best boy but he is the catalyst for everything bad in Pips life, she'd never blame him though, not ever because she cares for her friend too much.

(it’s also The Last Guest themed, but mostly Forsaken themed)
Current Projects
I’m currently working on a series on YouTube called NauseaCore which you can find every episode of here
Fandoms
My current fandoms are:
Undertale (My favorite video game of all time)
Delta Rune
The Legend of Zelda
Cuphead
Forsaken (Roblox)
Ghost and Pals
Yume Nikki
Kin/Comfort Characters
My main kin/comfort characters are:
Ravio (TLoZ) (He’s my number one kin/comfort character he is SO SILLY)
Trash Dentist (Ghost and Pals)
Jason Voorhees (Forsaken and Friday the 13th)
Mugman (Cuphead)
Frisk (Undertale)
Sans (Undertale) (Yeah I know it’s a bit basic but he’s still one of my fav Undertale characters and one of my kin/comfort characters)
Ralsei (Delta Rune) (He’s just so sweet and silly I love him so much /platonic)
Also, when I say I “kin” a character, I just mean they’re one of my favorite characters and I relate to them. Sometimes I’ll say I am a character as a joke or I mean it in a silly way, but I don’t actually think I AM that character. I’ve just seen people take kinning a lot more seriously than me so I thought I should add this.
Are Drawing Requests Open?
Yes, drawing requests are open, but I will take a long time to get to yours if you send one because I procrastinate and I also like to focus on my other projects and drawings. When I do get to yours it will likely be a sketch, but yes, drawing requests are open.

“MAPs”, Pedophiles, Zoophiles, Necrophiles, Hornyblogs (Y’all genuinely disgust me + I’m a minor), Hate Groups, Antisemites, AI “art” supporters, and NSFW/Porn blogs.
Also DNI if you ship PROBLEMATIC ships, for example: incest, rape, pedophilia, stuff like that. It’s disgusting.
If you interact with me and you don’t follow my DNI criteria or you don’t respect my boundaries you will be blocked.
Also, if I see anyone who is in my DNI, they will be blocked so they can never interact with me in the first place.
Please never ask me to make NSFW or porn, I am a minor and it makes me extremely uncomfortable.
ALSO, If you make gore art or anything like that you ARE allowed to interact with me. I LOVE gore art. Not like in a freaky or weird way of course, I just am a big fan of gore/horror art. If you are a gore artist I encourage you to interact with me, just as long as you follow my DNI criteria and stuff.

New Comics Time!
Life has been busy for me so we are combining the past two weeks into one post and doing this somewhat abridged. Next week I somehow get even busier as my art class starts up so we'll see how doing these posts goes.
Comics I've read that I don't have much to say on:
JSA #4 and Aquaman #2 - don't have much to say on either of these
Absolute Batman #5 - I probably am not going to stick around after the end of this arc. This isn't doing much for me.
Black Lightning #4 - I did like this issue better than the last one and I'm curious to see how it wraps up!
Justice League: The Atom Project #2 - This series has gotten me curious to check out more atom related comics
Two Face #3 - This is continuing to be very good. I like the twist at the end and am looking forward to seeing where it goes.
Poison Ivy #30 - Likewise, continues to be very good.
Shazam #20 - *sigh* not buying this issue was the right call.
Comics I've read that I have slightly more to say on:
Absolute Superman #4 - I would continue to rate this as solidly between Absolute Batman and Wonder Woman for me. While Batman feel like it's not really doing anything exciting in terms of the Bat mythos, and Wonder Woman feels like it's making big changes that remain true to her character and the mythos, Superman feels like it's making big swings and I'm not sure if it's connecting for me. Though Superman is also the character I've read the of so bigger Superman fans may disagree.
Action Comics #1083 - On the one hand, Ridley is clearly trying to do a serious examination of recidivism here, and on the other hand this is also a superman comic so the real problem turns out to be an evil guy preying on ex-cons and I'm not sure just how well those two aspects are mixing.
Batman #157 - Very much wrapping everything up to hand off to the next team. Gordon's going to go back to being a police man because the status quo is inescapable. My favorite part of this issue was the conversation with the guy who turned out to not actually be Bruce's brother (what a surprise). I liked seeing his reasoning and worldview. It felt well executed.
Birds of Prey #18 - It feels like at the start of every arc of this comic I'm super optimistic that *this* will be the one where Thompson can finally balance her case, but for real, considering this one is only going to be two issues, I think she's finally got it. I really liked seeing Dinah and Sin together in their beat up ninjas camping trip, and the Barda and Cass subplot was fun. This issue felt well balanced between the characters (I think it helped that it's just the core cast here) and I'm feeling optimistic that next issue will continue to do that for this story.
Batman and Robin #18 - I feel like everyone else has already talked about this story a lot. My main thoughts (besides the whole Jason unreliable narrator thing) are 1) I really hope that Dr. Bashir isn't actually evil because I think it's way better if Bruce is just paranoid and wrong and 2) Look, I really don't think Damian's actually going to quit being Robin.
Batman: Dark Patterns #3 - This was an very satisfying conclusion to the arc. I liked the musings on the importance of pain and the different ways the people in the neighborhood were effected and reacted to the lack of it. Batman getting taken down by the group of them was very effective.
Batgirl #5 - Another issue that has already been discussed in depth by the time I get around to writing my thoughts down. I really appreciated the greater use of silence in this issue. There has been an awful lot of internal monologue so far in this series, and I liked how this felt more classically Cass. Also Steph is basically the classic thing for Cass to hallucinate. I was holding out for Helena as the Bat, but this was clearly narratively much better.
Shazam #21 - I am sad to see this comic go, but this was a fun conclusion. I was happy to finally see Mary swoop back in to kick some ass and it wrapped up the plot threads nicely.
