I am not a lesbian however I was bored and I love one of my lesbian friends a lot. Also I made this with trans / nonbinary and most importantly gender noncomforming butches in mind. From what I know butch is not only dressing masculine and stuff and it has a lot more to do than how you express yourself in terms of style. (Butch lesbians please correct me if I'm wrong!) this flag is not exclusive to trans butches or gnc butches but just know I made this with the intention of making sure trans / gnc / intersex butches feel seen.

What would you like to see more represented with trans bodies in art or in general?

Hello I'm a trans man doing an art project for my school's art show in April. For my art project I am recreating traditional renaissance paintings with trans people to showcase that trans bodies are divine.

I would like to show a wide variety of what different trans bodies look like so I am asking around and looking for what people would like to see represented in trans bodies.

I appreciate and am open to trans masculine people's input however I already have a lot of it so I am more so looking into trans feminine people and AMAB non-binary people's ideas at the moment.

I am also especially interested in input from intersex and autistic trans and nonbinary people since there is a more complex relationship with your gender and your body.

Overall any comments are appreciated and I will not tolerate any transphobia or TERFs here.

Non-lesbians love to act like being a lesbian is restrictive, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Lesbianism is freedom.

Lesbians are not all binary cis women; there are transfem lesbians, transmasc lesbians, nonbinary lesbians of all types, a lot of us even consider lesbian to itself be a gender. And that's only scratching the surface of how diverse lesbian gender expression can be, even within those categories there are yet even more types of lesbians, we play around with femininity and masculinity in so many ways!

Not to mention butch lesbians, femme lesbians, stud lesbians, and stemme lesbians; the latter two being black lesbian identities. Some lesbians are none of those things, and that's fine too! There are lesbians who use pronouns other than she/her; they/them lesbians, he/him lesbians, lesbians who use neopronouns...

Lesbians are not all TME; there are trans lesbians, nonbinary lesbians, intersex lesbians. The lesbian community is more inclusive of trans people than most, despite what others may think.

There are lesbians with many different relationships to their attraction; asexual lesbians, aromantic lesbians, lesbians with trauma around sex or romance, lesbians who don't want to be in relationships, lesbians who are sex workers, lesbians who experience comphet, lesbians who didn't always know they were lesbians and may have been in relationships with men before finding out...

Lesbians are not all white; there are black lesbians, asian lesbians, latine lesbians, native lesbians...

Lesbians are not all privileged outside of our LGBT identities; there are mentally ill lesbians, disabled lesbians, fat lesbians, autistic lesbians, lesbians with personality disorders, lesbians with eating disorders, lesbians with trauma, lesbians who struggle with addiction, lesbians with scars and bodies seen as atypical in the eyes of western beauty standards...

There are lesbians of all social classes and demographics; poor lesbians, working class lesbians, Jewish lesbians, Muslim lesbians, Hindu lesbians, Buddhist lesbians...

There are lesbians all throughout history who have fought and bled and died for who we are, lesbians who continue to fight today for who we are, lesbians who live completely isolated from any kind of support structures and aren't able to be themselves.

The thing that all of these different types of lesbians have in common? We aren't men, and aren't attracted to men; not cis men, not trans men, not nonbinary aligned men. We exclusively love other women and sapphic aligned nonbinaries.

Being a lesbian is not restrictive, and if it feels that way to you, you're simply not a lesbian. Don't try to change who we are, lesbianism is a beautiful and fulfilling identity just the way it is. 🧡🤍💖

i've seen you mention amab transmascs/afab transfems a few times, would you mind explaining that? i've been thinking about the label but it seems like it might be intersex exclusive and when i tried to look into it i mostly just found discourse.

I know both terms get used a lot by intersex people to describe their experiences, but its used by perisex people (like myself) for a variety of reasons too. I think exclusionary-minded people tend to be more "well you CAN do transness wrong if you're intersex i GUESS but only then!" but I know of a few other amab transmascs/afab transfems who use the terms for other reasons. They're pretty generic terms to describe anyone whos transmasc/fem but not the "opposite" agab.

I call myself transfem for a few reasons, namely:

Coming out as queer (and soon after, trans) at a pretty young age and having my experience with gender being heavily shaped by that & the distance it created between me and all my cis peers (especially as one of few out trans kids at my school/s) (seriously being The GNC Queer Kid surrounded by mostly cishet gc kids for virtually all of my life was a trip and I hate that thats never considered in gender socialization discourse. I was assigned female at birth but assigned queer at 5th grade)

Being autistic and being alienated from girl/womanhood for similar reasons

Being multigender & having a really complicated relationship with womanhood that cannot be divorced from my other genders and is inherently trans + being transsexual and feeling that I am unable to be myself as a woman if I do not have a testosterone-dominant body and a penis- thats not to say that having those things is what makes someone a trans woman/transfem, which I think is harmful & something afab transfems/amab transmascs should avoid saying when we talk about our genders. Rather that being my experience transes my womanhood on a core level to me. I could never consider or call my womanhood "cis" for these reasons.

As a result of these things, I feel that I am actively choosing womanhood and taken steps to transition into an inherently trans woman.

because tma/tme are just terms used to describe whether someone faces the intersection of transphobia and misogyny that most trans women do,

so like is it "someone called me tme because i'm intersex even though i'm transfem" or is it "transmisogyny-afflicted and transmisogyny-exempt are terms that do not describe every possible nuance of my oppression specifically, so no transfem should ever use them"

im genuinely intrigued that someone out there does identify as transmasc and transfem at once. because ive considered that being possible, ive but denied it for myself as an nb transmasc person because im not..? intersex. i was definitely treated... oddly wrt 'being a girl' for being fat and autistic and slightly "masculine" as a kid. i almost feel like i have to reclaim femininity when i lean into it. but im not transfem ultimately. i think its good that people can identify with both though.

hey, thank you! it's not as well known as other trans identities, but being multitransitional is real, and i appreciate your open mindedness! there are many reasons one could be transfem and transmasc at the same time- like you mentioned it depends on how you're treated by others and how your body looks and is perceived.

being disabled, fat, intersex, and/or a person of color can all affect how people interpret you and your gender, and sometimes it can be hard for you to be perceived correctly due to how those other people perceives what "male" and "female" should look like

for me, my intersex condition and having a lot of my dad's mediterranean features made it very difficult for people to fully perceive me as female, while also having people deny me manhood because of my hourglass figure and breasts. i have had to transition into both masculinity and femininity because i have had both forcefully stripped away from me

the ability to choose if i am masc or fem or both has never been mine, until i began to transition. it's now in my hands, whereas before, my gender was totally up to the interpretation of strangers, and it was never favorable, always hateful.
