James Potter was the most insufferable Slytherin that Sirius had ever met. At least he could curse Snape and Mulciber, but James wasn’t insufferable like them. No, James Potter was insufferable because she was intelligent without trying, loyal to his friends (which unfortunately included Sirius’s miserable little brother), and had a smile that could have any man handing over whatever he had in his pockets. She was what Sirius ought to have been.  Instead, Sirius was a Gryffindor, and she was perfectly fine there. She had her group of friends,  Marlene, Remus, Peter and Lily. She could have any boy she wanted, they loved to run their hands from her combat boots to her skirt. (She would stomp on their hands when they got braver than that.) She’d gotten leather jackets and her hair in a mullet and she felt brave. She felt on top of the world. And then, James Potter. Her arrogant smile. Her thick, muscular legs. Sirius wanted to punch her. She had enough rings on her fingers to make it hurt.  “Alright there, Black?” Potter’s voice called out. Sirius grit her teeth.  “Dare,” Sirius replied. The room seemed to ignite. The crowd felt energized with it, Black versus Potter. Gryffindor versus Slytherin.  “How Gryffindor,” James smiled with all her teeth.

I'm into it! I think the main focus would be a James leaning hard onto ambition. His parents would be shocked at the sorting results but ultimately not treat him any differently. He's their lil gift. Their baby boy. 🥺

I think James will struggle with why he was sorted, thinking himself as some sort of awful person. At least the first year or so. His parents are not there to assure him since he's at school. Sirius will be his friend no matter what. Probably followed James into Slytherin.

Also he'd look good in the house colour but that's because it's the best one. Sorry but it's a fact. 😂

I think he'd become friends with Severus Snape. Imagine him, sev, and Sirius working together. The things they'd create and get away with. Oh man.

Those are my silly thoughts. Hahahaha.

we do not make enough of the COMEDY it is that james is a fucking deer. like sirius being a dog and peter being a rat are obv tied to their characters but a deer is SO random. and i do not see it in fics enough. take the padfoot tropes and give them to prongs. students baffled because there was a deer walking around the dungeons? remus walking into the dorm and nearly shitting himself because there’s a deer sitting upright in james’ bed. whenever james is in a sticky situation he just goes deer mode and prances away
