This is the final ArtFight artwork, this drawing goes out to Mendel and their OC Loubna Shay presenting some of her homemade Arabic desserts. :D
Oh and for those that are not Native Arabic speakers, "بالعافية" just means ''In Good Health'' To put it another way, it's really just the Arabic word for "bon appetit." :)
Well that's it hope you like it :D
This drawing was made on 27 July 2023 Team Vampires
Here are their social media’s and ArtFight page <3

[ Original Twitter Thread by @/beelektra ] - Not by Magz, am not Palestinian
Palestinian Foods. (long post)
Quote:
"🧵 Thread of Palestinian desserts I've grown up around and seen A thing I'd like to add is that I just like to share my culture! I do not want to spread the narrative that our culture is dying, I only want people to see our foods and traditions 🇵🇸
Tumblr media
"As mentioned in the last post, we have knafeh (or kunafa), a buttery dessert made with shredded pastry layers such as cheese and other ingredients like pistacho or cream!"
Tumblr media
"Burbara; which comes from Saint Barbara, fun fact! It's a soup dessert that mainly consists of barley, licorice spices, anise, cinnamon, and fennel powder This is a dessert usually many Christian families have to celebrate Saint Barbara, which is December 4th!"
Tumblr media
"Malban, which resembles a fruit jelly! Made from starch and sugar Specifically, it's made with grape molasses, thickened with starch and flavored with rose water, and stuffed with almonds (or other nuts including walnuts, treenuts, and peanuts)"
Tumblr media
"Khabeesa is simply just a pudding made with grapes, but you prepare it by mixing the grape juice with semolina and nuts + seeds."
Tumblr media
"Mtabbak or mtabba, a crispy dough stuffed with crushed walnuts. It also contains cinnamon, sugar, and syrup. Photo credits go to Bartek Kieżun on Instagram"
Tumblr media
"Tamriyeh, a fried pastry filled with semolina pudding, scenter with mastic and orange blossom water, and topped off with powdered sugar"
Tumblr media
"Ka'ak bi Tamer, which are date paste filled cookies with cinnamon! A dessert made for Eid-Alfitr. It's topped with nigella seeds, and the cinnamon-spiced date paste is the most important part of it all– you can eat it on its own or have it with coffee"
Tumblr media
"+ Ka'ak Asawer, another dessert that can be prepared for Eid-Alfitr. It's translated to bracelet cookies, and they use date paste, flour, anise seeds, sugar, ground cinnamon, and olive oil"
Tumblr media
"Muhallebi or mahalabia, a milk pudding that's made with sugar, corn starch, and fragrant flavorings! It's topped off with nuts, pistachos, and almonds and sprinkled with ground cinnamon or shredded coconut"
Tumblr media
"Rice pudding, which is a common dessert in Palestine, and it's your choice to top it off with nuts or not"
Tumblr media
"Stuffed dates, using medjool dates and cracking them open to be stuffed with goat cheese and pistachios– but you're free to add anything else"
Tumblr media
"Ma'amoul, a buttery crisp cookie primarily made of farina and can be stuffed with (spiced) dates, walnuts, or pistachios. This is another Christian dessert made by Palestinian mothers during the week of Easter Sunday."
Tumblr media
"Halawit Smid, a farina based dessert with added sugar and unsalted cheese. It's preferably served fresh"
Tumblr media
"Namoura cake, aka harissa dessert! It's made with semolina or farina flour, and then topped off with syrup once baked"
Tumblr media
"Qatayef, which is eaten during the month of Ramadan. It's made of farina, flour, water, and yeast blended together– the process is pretty similiar to making pancakes, but only one side is cooked"
Tumblr media
"Since I've mentioned using zaatar for a lot of things, I recently just discovered this but– there's also things such as zaatar cookies!! It's just as implied that the cookies are filled with zaatar, I'd be so willing to make this on my own"
Tumblr media
"Baklava, made from phyllo pastry dough, butter, nuts, basil, and a sweet honey syrup"
Tumblr media
"Aish el saraya, arabic version of a bread pudding. It's basically a layered bread, where it starts from the bottom, then covered with a sweet syrup, cream, and crumbled pistachios."
Tumblr media
"Awwami, it's defined as "crisp donut ball" in English. It's a deep fried dough ball coated with sesame seeds, and dipped in cold syrup water."
Tumblr media
"Halawet el Jibn, a sweet cheese dessert rolled with custard, heavy cream, drizzled rose water + syrup, and garnished with nuts."
Tumblr media
"Lastly, I'd like to add watermelon and cheese– for me, it's like,,,, bittersweet!!! You should totally try it and we also have this during Ramadan"
"Well, that's all I can think of for Palestinian desserts! Here's the first part for general foods, I know I did make a promise for part two
I hope you guys liked this thread, and if you have any opinions please feel free to quote tweet anything on here if I made a mistake, feel free to correct me, it's always appreciated P.S if you're a zionist commenting here I really don't care, just scroll, I'm sharing my culture
One LAST thing. if you want any of the recipes from here, check out this website, the creator (Wafa) shares so many wonderful traditional Palestinian dishes."

Tomorrow will be the first day of Ramadan. The holiest month in Islam. A month which Muslims and Arabs fill with celebrations and festivities. Visits between extended family members, messages of love, desserts exchanged between neighbours, entire menus of authentic foods come to the table.
It's a sorrow above sorrow that we enter such time while Gaza is still suffering.
We received messages from Palestinians asking us not to share pictures of food and family gatherings as we do each year. As they lay there, starved, each family messing many members to at least keep them in our thoughts and prayers.
In my whole life, and probably in the lives of even my grandparents, we have never faced Ramadan with such sorrow and fear.

Table Etiquette
A crash course on fine dining/ being invited to dinner at someone’s place. Even if you don’t fine dine, I’d recommend you start practicing these habits in any establishment so that they come to you naturally.
Remember : A typical four-course meal consists of a soup, an appetizer, an entrée, and dessert.
If you’re standing at some sort of a networking session/ mixer:
Keep at least one hand free. If you are standing, have only a drink or food in one hand, never both.  Hold a drink in your left hand so that you have a clean hand for a handshake. You can eat and drink while sitting, but it is always better to stand and greet.
Tumblr media
Sitting/ dining out/ invited to dinner:
1. Wait to be seated by the staff/ host.
2. Napkin on your lap the minute you sit down at the table.
3. if you're looking at the menu, make sure to have the bottom, or at least one part of it, still touching the table, even if your impulse is to bring it closer to your face. Don’t lift the menu off the table to your nose.
4. Once you sip from a glass, you must sip from the exact same place on that glass for the rest of the evening.
5. If there’s a breadbasket and butter on your table - don’t dip the bread in the communal butter plate. Take a piece of the butter with your butter knife, put it on the side plate, then spread that butter on your bread. Don’t double dip! Your bread plate is the one on your left, by the way. And your glass will be on your right.
6. If your table has a lot of silverware - start from the outside and work your way in.
7. Dishes should be passed in a counter-clockwise flow. Don’t reach across the table.
8. Lay you fork and knife diagonally across the plate, side by side, pointing at 10:00 and 4:00 on a clock face. This signifies to the wait staff that you have finished.
9. Keep the rim of your plates as clean as possible, as a sign of respect to the staff.
Cultural differences:
1. Whilst eating Indian food/ in India, always eat with your right hand. The left hand should never touch the food. This is also seen in the Arab world - use only the thumb, index finger and middle finger to pick up food.
2. In Korea, one waits for the senior most person in the room to sit and eat, and is followed suit. Sharing is caring - food is often ordered to share with each other rather than individual plates.
3. Chopsticks etiquette (general): don’t stick and leave your chopsticks in your food perpendicular to the table, it signifies death. Don't set your chopsticks down pointed at another person at the table. Don't point your chopsticks at other people around the table.
4. France: bread on the table is meant to accompany the main dish, not as an appetiser.
What are some table manners that one should keep in mind if they’re eating food/ eating with someone of your culture?

We need to give more props to our mighty god Alfred Pennyworth, only to thank him for his patience when he has to cook for the entire team
Bruce, Harley, Kate: Jewish ascend, don't eat pork, a lot of sea foods and horse.
Ivy: Vegan, except for rich man meat.
Talia: The League certainly has some of the best chef, bakers...in the world, everytime she's on vacations in the manor, it's personal. I don't know her relationship with pork, I mean, Chinese people love it, and Arab people being mostly muslim, it would be cultural not eating it. Also loves spice.
Dick: Romani, grew on the road, can survive on tuna cans and cereals.
Barbara: Her family was always ordering somewhere and most of the time tacos or chinese food.
Helena Bertinelli: Pasta and wine. By a chef. She loves pizza. And tomatoes.
Jason, Selina: Latinos, favourite meal would 100% be with pork, and spicy.
Tim: Survived alone on monster energy, milk and instant noodles and late burger when he stalked Bruce and Dick. That's why he smol.
Steph: Unstable household, she was feeling like a chef when there was cheese in her mac and cheese. Also vegetarian.
Cass: Will eat the entire plate. I mean litteraly. One time Bruce said her to drink her cup till it's hot, she was chewing on porcelain. Love desserts otherwise.
Harper and Cullen: Survived on chili.
Duke: Cornbread. He loves cornbread. Pretty normal household for once.
Damian: Vegeterian, and fed by chefs and Talia's cooking. It's. Personal.
Bonus :
Clark : Fed by Ma Kent. It's why he big and strong. Doesn't understand a meal without meat.
Lois : Doesn't understand a meal without fruits and vegetables.
Diana : Fed for 3000 years by immortals cordon bleu. Loves ice cream too much. It's. Personal.

Would you have any hcs for Roach?
Alright so. I don't really have a lot of Roach hcs (= basically making an OC and I usually have one per series at max. rip) here are a few Roach headcanons I came up with 😌 gratuitous mw19 roachposting also.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's of Arabic descent (my literal only hc when I first played the game in like 2010 so it is very dear to me okay.)
Specifically his mum is from Jordan. Roach was born and raised in NA, skipped 2 classes, started studying international relations and did an internship in Jordan around age 16-17 before dropping out, flying back to the US, volunteering for a while and then joining the army when he was 19
Really chill guy. like way too chill actually, kinda like Wyatt (but Roach has survival instincts, Wyatt does not)
On a personal crusade against super processed sugary foods ONLY. soda is okay. He loves soda actually. But do not offer him sweets or chocolate desserts he will lecture you
Polyglot (fluent in english, arabic, pashto, russian, spanish, can understand portugese, french and swedish)
Smarter than average but very humble and very "stay behind" kind of guy.
A bit clumsy. he's embarrassed about it.

EVEN EVEN MORE ODDLY SPECIFIC BAKUGOU KATSUKI HEADCANONS
an -> check out pt1 & pt2 ! I tried to make more this time lol. This is part 3
Tumblr media
1. professional cooker? it’s pretty obvious but like the food he makes is immaculate??? Like, top tier kind of desserts and meals? And the man won’t open his self driven restaurant (not that he has time to)
2. Knows how to do eyeliner better than you do, different kind of wings too, don’t ask why.
3. Takes care of his nails, it’s really random but like I feel he would have certain day(s) every week where he would only cut his nails during. Also he files them and takes care of them with nail oil.
4. likes flowers, very very much.
5. Biggest bully ever during secondary school. I see many people who romanticize him during that time but like I personally feel he would be the biggest bully ever who would call other people ‘gay’ as an insult & laughs at slightly chubby people specifically girls, and says every other slur there is in the book.
6. Only wears black socks.
7. Doesn’t use products of companies who animal test.
8. Prefers gold over silver.
9. I feel like he would make you buy him clear lipglosses he can use, bc like he want to be looking pretty with shiny lips n everything, but like not too much? He only wants shiny lips so he wouldn’t ask for red or pink glosses for example. He wants to hold on to his masculinity 💀
10. Has the mentality of Arab guys. Toxic, mansplains / manhandles everything, annoying, attractive & doesn’t show their emotions bc they’re alpha bros 💀💀
11. Doesn’t like earbuds, prefers headphones.
12. Has peanut allergy, idk why.
13. Has been to every single country in the world. Except a few 😬 ifykyk
14. Super interested in politics, like very and extremely.
15. Him and his friends went through the “I’m homiesexual” era, it was cringe but fun, he would laugh at himself everything he remembers it.
16. So this might be controversial but he would never, AND I MEAN NEVER call his partner “Teddy bear” 💀💀 this is Bakugou we are talking about, he wouldn’t even call his child that, those words would never escape his mouth not even ironically.
17. A very clean and organized person.
18. Has a 10 year journal, yep 👍
19. Believes in one higher power, like god, I don’t think he would be Hindu or Buddhist more of like Christian, Jew or Muslim. He believes in only one higher power, and that higher power is different from mankind.
20. Very academically smart but very stupid otherwise.
21. Really good at ice skating ? ⛸️
22. has a big attractive sexy nose, don’t ask any questions.
23. Brushes his teeth 3 times a day. After he eats breakfast, before he sleeps & after dinner.
24. Has a black phone.
24. Has a car collection, Porsches, Lamborghinis, Teslas & limousines, etc.
25. Absolutely loses his mind if one of his many cars gets a single little scratch.
26. Loves to watch ASMR restocking videos on social medias. He would even watch a compilation of them on YouTube.
27. Cringes whenever he visits someone who have a ‘home sweet home’ carpet.
28. Loves cats.
29. Had a leather jacket, motorcycle, all girls are the same & ‘why do good girls like bad guys’ phase, he absolutely regrets his life.
30. Loves cartoon shows, his favorite are adventure time, the amazing world of gumball & we bare bears.

Similar to that other anon, having a hard time finding Palestinian restaurant to support where I live because things are only listed as Middle Eastern when i search. But there’s a middle eastern ice cream and dessert shop near me, and after the strike I want to see if they have any Palestinian desserts. Ive been reading about Palestinian desserts, but do You have any favorites? Sorry for the long wording and if you’ve answered about desserts before.
this is less available in most places but i love knafeh!!! i really recommend trying it. these are more broader arab foods but i also really love atayef and baklava, so i recommend those as well!
