A DC X DP IDEA #4 You’re worth is more than a penny.
Imagine dis…
We all read and saw fanfictions about either Jason, Constantine, Bruce, or even Jazz raising Danny when he became younger due to Clockwork’s interference, but what if we reverse the roles?
Alfred Pennyworth was raised by Phantom.
It was early 1900 in England where it is common for children were being sold like cattle for a penny. Among the rows of yelling parents who are willing to sell a few of their children for a few pounds to help themselves or the younger ones at home, one parent was loudly exclaiming that his child is merely worth more than a penny. A nameless child with skin and bones as a body, at the tender age of 6 years old he already knew the horrors of child slavery. Some were never seen again like the ones he saw outside playing tag and others return to their parents in a body bag. He also knew that no one would want a skinny child like him so he waited for the inevitable beating at this man’s house, He refuse to call that man his father nor that dingy four-by-four wall home.
Suddenly a distinguished gentleman walked past him and he was just in awe at what he had sawed. A young man that seemed like in his early 20s has a face of youth yet has an air of maturity around them. Wearing the cleanest pair of white waistcoats and black trousers, shaggy black hair, and striking blue eyes.
It was obvious that he was an errand boy looking around for new workers, his mind supplied.
The man looked at him with raised eyebrows and couldn’t help but think that this person may buy him out of this man’s clutches and put him to work that may or may not end his life.
The older man who saw the interested look of the errand boy tried to advertise him as his worth is merely a penny.
Danny was merely taking a break from his kingly duties after months, years, and centuries have passed since his adventures as Danny Phantom. Visiting a newly made dimension in the eyes of the king of Infinite Realms, he made his way through the early 1900s for some sight-seeing, with the insurance from his advisers, court, family members, and consorts (Tucker & Sam) he went and enjoyed the view and contemplating that why does Clockwork give him his farewell in a form of a cryptic message such as a father of a bat needs saving from his unexpected fate,  as well this universe felt like something interesting is bound to happen.
Being the High King of the Infinite Realms the realms itself chose him as their champion and king through countless rights of ascensions throughout the years.
Seeing that child slavery is still a thing at this point in time made him want to turn around and go to another realm less depressing than this time and come back later when they abolished slavery.
Though he caught an eye on this thin scrawny little boy who is nothing but skin and bones that the tiniest gust of wind will push him on the brick pavement, the boy’s parents however saw him taking interest and tried to get rid of the boy seeing that he was nothing but an extra mouth to feed due to his “responsibility” as a parent and tried to sell him for a penny.
Danny weighed the pros and cons in this situation, raising a mortal child may be both rewarding and satisfactory but the fact that he cannot break the ancient rules to make him immortal that was placed by the Realms themselves to uphold the balance between the living and the ancient realm, but he can bend it to an extent, so that if he can extend longevity in his lifespan to at least reach a century or so.
Added to the fact that Clockwork gave a message to protect him.
Bought the boy for a penny and carried the child towards the disguised horse carriage.
Now, how to explain to his family that he acquired a mortal child?
The nameless boy widened his eyes in surprise as the “errand” boy actually bought and carried him gently towards a clean carriage that looked like is owned by a king.
After making him sit beside his employer, his employer began asking him questions.
Such as his age, and name. likes, dislikes, and many other confusing questions.
At the mention of not having a name his employer began to frown, looks like he has made his new employer furious and he hasn’t even begun to earn his keep.
After a tense silence, his employer declared that HIS new name would be Alfred Pennyworth, as the word Alfred means counsel as he stated that he can see his future and that he would counsel different men who wish his advice, and Pennyworth, as his father is a fool for selling him for a penny as he is worth more than that.
At the time the nameless no…, At the time Alfred didn’t know what is the warm feeling on his chest that made him long for this man’s approval. He may be naïve or far too trusting for putting his trust in a man he met for a few minutes but at the time his only thought was he had his own name that he owns.
When the carriage stopped his employer carried him out of the carriage, and what greeted him is something he would never forget.
An endless green sky stretches along the horizon, A large black castle that reaches the sky that has growing vines all over its walls, at the front an entire estate dedicated to different and extinct plant life to flourish, and rows and rows of servants lined up and dressed in the fanciest clothing for maids and for all genders bowing ever slightly greeting and welcoming back their master in unison.
He looked behind him and around him for the master of the house but when he couldn’t see one, he turned his attention to the one who bought him as he is quite sacred for upsetting for not greeting the master in his own house.
But as he turn to the man for a plea for help he caught the small smile that his employer gave him and nodded towards the directions of the servants.
That was the time he learned that the man who bought him and gave him a name is his supposed master.
The next few days were confusing to the young Alfred Pennyworth, as he expected to be working on the animal shed or any menial tasks yet he was treated like a prince.
Free to learn what he desired, learning skills that he would never think of learning, free to eat anything his heart and stomach desired, free to have a soft bed to sleep on as well as having toys to ensure that he was not bored, given a wide variety of possible hobbies to take his mind off things. Gained and learned philosophies around the realms as well as had great teachers in teaching him essential things in morals, science, and more. Most importantly gained a family that he never thought he would even have.
He learned how to walk silently as a ghost, be swift in terms of movements waster no action, be present like a shadow, and use any weapon at hand, one’s body is a weapon itself. Discipline thy self in any temptation known to man, to integrate oneself to be unknown, eyes and emotions betray your mind be mindful of your facial and body movement as a single doubt will get someone you love to perish, but most importantly learned his new family’s motto.
Family is family.
Simple yet a powerful motto. No matter how cruel the man who brought and gave him a new life and purpose, the man who he saw as father, maybe in making decisions to ensure that the Infinite Realms stay balanced throughout the entire realms. How ruthless are his aunts and uncle to make sure that everything in between stays in the center of the balance as too much of the brings chaos
When Alfred was merely a teen he was given a blessing by his father, to be able to live a long life while maintaining his morality. One day he may die which is true, but it will be a long time before the reaper takes him to his next adventure.
Spending time with each member of the Nightingale family are memories that will be kept deep inside his heart. His mother Sam, taught him the wonders and secrets of flora, his other father Tucker, taught him how technology is used both in hope and destruction, His uncle Dan taught him about being an impenetrable wall in both mind and body, His older aunt Jazz taught him how to read his opponents in combat as well learning the beauty of human brain, His aunt Ellie who taught and showed him the wonders of the world in terms of the scenery, delicacy and culture, His grandfather Clockwork, taught him to be a cryptic as well moving on and forward as bad things are as natural as breathing and to move on is to let the time run its course.
Last but not least his father Danny, the High King of the Infinite Realms the man who he owes his entire being and life. The man whom he respects and wishes to turn out like him, the man who is proud to call his father. Taught him a multitude of things that one would not expect from a king, Be a Gentleman. A firm handshake combined with looking the other person in the eye carries with it respect, dignity, and strength, Honor Your Father and Mother, Respect Women, Be a Man of Integrity, Take Responsibility, and Work Hard, among the advice he gave and taught to him that they put into his life through action and words.
When WW2 came to his dimension he asked his father to be able to go back as it is still integrated into his blood to fight for the country that he was born into. As well as making a name for himself, to prove to the world his worth is more than a penny, to prove that all of their learning is not to be put to waste.
With the approval of his family, he set out to make his name.
S.A.S. Armed Services, fighting in 15 different operations between ages 18 and 20. A skilled medical and front liner soldier who was decorated. He later joined MI5, as well the secret forces of the Queen and later being knighted by her majesty
In this present time, we all know the current Alfred Pennyworth, the kickass ninja butler who is a mystery to the Batfam and has a lot of skillsets that are both surprising and expected to the Batfam. The butler who dared to out Batman the Batman. The butler is willing and dared to ground Batman for not taking care of himself. The butler carries a shotgun out of defense and we are pretty sure he is hiding a hidden bazooka somewhere in the manor. The butler who cooked delicious food and the one who raised Bruce Wayne
Working for the Wayne is not set to be permanent but the moment his ward Bruce Wayne becomes a hero just like his father and brings in his own version of a makeshift family he cannot help but stay for the sake of his ward that he saw as a son.
His family was there every step of the way.
Looking at the long dinner table that is filled with food with his ward/ son and his children he can't help but look fondly at the scene in front of him.
This is why he would not eat with the rest of the Batfam, the ambitious dinner or just being complete brings him back just when he was just a little boy looking at his father for guidance.
The Bat family are known to be good sometimes great detectives as they were taught by the greatest detective in the world, despite their wit and intelligence they still could not figure out their grandfather/ butler.
Having no presence before WW2 is common, as many orphans joined the war to bring acknowledgment to their names and presences. So when a glowing green letter made its way towards the kitchen counter, just as Alfred took a moment to look when he immediately snatched the said letter and ripped it open to see the contents.
Now mind you this was a never occurrence as Alfred Pennyworth is the epitome of calmness and neutrality so when he tore a letter like a kid who was given his first Christmas present all noise seemed to stop to look at the wide-eyed butler.
Alfred kept reading the said letter with wide eyes ignoring the shocked look of the people around him. Immediately telling Bruce that he will be going on an immediate 2-week vacation without even concealing his own joy in his voice and quickly turned around to pack a suitcase worth.
The entire Wayne’s both adopted and not are now invested what could the letter possibly contain that Alfred Pennyworth himself becomes a kid just by reading it?
Tailing the said butler was hard, following his quick steps which indicate impatience from the patient butler as well as a small smile that indicates fondness immediately became their new case.
Stopping at a large mansion surrounded by plant life that has a gothic aesthetic to it. As Alfred entered the gate he was tackled by a small black-haired blue-eyed child immediately followed by three teens and one large buff young adult.
All of them are hugging and exclaiming joy as Alfred reciprocated each hug with enthusiasm for his age.
Who are they and how does Alfred know all of these people?
 …
PS: If someone out there wanting to continue or make a fic about this you are free to do so don’t forget to tag me though.

I'm in A Mood™ (stressed) so im going back to my roots of melting two character together into one person. So bruce wayne!danny fenton. Danny Fenton who, for eight years, grew up in a beautiful gothic manor with his mom and dad under the name "Bruce Wayne". Playing piano with his mother, running around the manor with his father.
Then when he's eight it's ripped away from him. There's blood on his hands and pearls pooling at his feet, and both his parents are dead in front of him.
And he gets shipped off to distant relatives "the Fentons" shortly after, Alfred close on his heels because someone needs to take care of him, someone that knows him. Bruce goes to the Fentons for the safety of anonymity. Gotham's press wants to sink its teeth into him.
Danny misses his city even if it took everything from him. There are shadows in his eyes and he's pale as a sheet even beside his distant cousins, and they change his name to "Danny Fenton' because nobody should know that their newest child was illustrious orphan Bruce Wayne.
They call him Bruce behind closed doors. Danny prefers it that way, he clings onto the name -- the one his parents gave him -- like a lifeline. He makes friends with Sam and Tucker. Tucker takes one look at the willowy, morbid little boy standing in the corner like a shade, ghosts in his eyes, and drags him out into the sunlight, and takes him over to Sam.
When Danny is twelve, he's still not over it -- and he's a little obsessed with the Fentons' research, with the morbid. He has books upon books on death, murder, detective work. Anything he can get his hands on. And stars. He loves stars.
Alfred owns the apartment next to them and comes over regularly. Danny clings to him.
When Danny is twelve, he's still quiet, meek, a shy little thing prone to being bullied. Freaky little Fenton with the night in his eyes and too-cold skin even before he put one foot in the grave. in a sleepover in his room with Sam and Tucker, he tells them the truth. They're his friends, he trusts them.
"My name is Bruce." he murmurs, voice quiet as the breeze, always quiet. he's staring at his star-covered sheets.
"Like Bruce Wayne?" Tucker asks, a joking tone in his voice.
Danny smiles a little, lamb-like with insecurity. "I am Bruce Wayne." And he takes them down to the lab, disrupting Maddie and Jack, to prove it. Sam tells them of her own wealth then shortly after. They start calling Danny "Bruce" in private too -- its trust. Thats what it is. It's trust.
Sam goes to media functions and comes back with aching feet and complaints on her tongue -- and Danny soaks it up all like a sponge, splayed across a beanbag chair with Tucker in her room. He's not envious of her, he used to go to events with his parents and they kept him safe from the ugly of Gotham's Elite. For the most part. He's had comments made at him, he doesn't miss them.
Alfred returns to the manor semi-regularly, Danny goes with him. he wanders the hallways and helps Alfred clean, the last thing either of them want is for their home to fall into disrepair. He brings Jazz with him next time, then Tucker, then Sam. They all help him clean, and he shows them his room. The one across from his parents', it feels strange.
When Danny dies when he's fourteen, the first adult he tells is Alfred. He and Jazz go over to his house more often than they stay in the Fentonworks building. At least at Alfred's, the food doesn't come to life. Alfred sits at the kitchen table and weeps when Danny tells him, Jazz is upstairs, and its just the two of them.
Danny's ghost form wears pearls around his wrist and the gloves look stained with some kind of black substance. He looks like a child who died in a lab accident, but he also looks like a child who has shadows dripping off his shoulders, curling at his feet, hanging from his eyes.
because amorphous blob batman has my heart always and danny/bruce will not escape it even in death even if that IS the only reason im giving him Mild BatBlob Vibes...so far
when they go to the manor, alfred helps danny make a pile of stones between Martha and Thomas' graves, nobody but the two of them (and sam and tucker) will know what it means. (not even bruce's children later down the line, not for a long, long time)
danny dives into ghost fighting on shaky feet and not half as witty as he once was in one world. he's skittish, skittering between blasts from shadow to shadow and clumsily making his way through each battle. but helping people lights a fire in him. he still has shadows dripping off his feet but there's a purpose in his eyes.
and god help him, he's going to help people.
#dpxdc#dp x dc#danny fenton is not the ghost king#dp x dc crossover#dpxdc crossover#dpdc#dpxdc prompt#this is just me torturing danny for a little bit because im stressed and i cried for an hour while i was driving so im taking it out on B#thanks for being my little stress ball danny#aha my old middle school habit of frankensteining two characters together is resurfacing again :) yall should've seen my wattpad drafts#in middle school. i had 50 of them and most of them were me combining two characters together to make one person and putting them in one au#my most memorable being skydoesminecraft and harry potter. THAT was a fun worldbuilding experience#do i think that growing up with the fentons would fix bruce/danny completely?? hurm. no. dont kid yallselves jazz is not a licensed#therapist not even at like. nine when she meets danny. she's not helping him through his trauma in the slightest. she's nagging.#she's his sister or sister-like figure before she's his therapist. would he be#*entirely* like canon bruce tho?? no. dannybruce is a mix of the both of them. but this is still the first post of the au and is more so#just me doing the equivalent of popping a stress ball so nothing is smoothed over. mostly im just trying to keep bruce's trauma prominent i#danny's character because he IS Bruce. i dont want him to just be 'danny with bruce's backstory but without any of the ugly bits'.#danny and bruce is used interchangeably because they're the same person but sorry if his personality feels imbalanced i came up with this o#the spot. was going to type more but the stress has left me. for now. watch ur back danny 👀

Bat Family 'Bruce is Tim's biological parent' AU Idea #1
Wherein Jack Drake: a) Regularly tags along on archaeological digs despite not being an archaeologist. b) Commonly smuggles home archaeological finds despite that not being legal. c) Does not believe in curses, hauntings, or any mythology despite the world that he lives in being populated with *gestures at comics* all that.
As a result, Jack is like a magnet for cursed objects and keeps smuggling the damned things home.
The first time little Timmy suspects this is happening, he knows his dad won't respond well to him suggesting the most recent package he sent home is haunted. He knows he'll respond even worse if he tries to get anyone else involved. So he sends his mom a private email explaining what's going on. Janet replies that he's right to be suspicious, that this has absolutely happened before, and that he was right to contact her. She tells him she's sending over a friend who can help and gives him a password that she'll tell the friend so he knows it's okay to let him in the house.
John Constantine shows up within the hour. Tim is certain he didn't drive there (the alert that someone passed through the gates never went off and no one put in a code to open them) but there is a cursed object in his house and John knew the password Janet gave him, so he's mostly just happy to have an adult there to handle the situation. Even if a somewhat bizarre adult.
John takes care of the cursed object and is impressed that Tim reacted to it much faster than most do. He gives Tim his card with instructions to call him if anything like what was happening starts to happen again or if anything else weird starts happening after his father has been to any digs or sent home any strange packages.
As Jack is the aforementioned cursed object magnet, Tim ends up calling John fairly often for someone who doesn't actively work with the occult and is, in fact, a child. John keeps praising him for catching on as quick as he does and giving him information to catch onto other types of mystical/magical wickedness. Tim gets really good at recognizing when magic/curses/spirits are at play.
Then, Janet dies and Jack goes into a coma. Tim is fostered by Bruce for a year and a half and doesn't have to worry about curses or haunted objects for all that time. When they do come across something of the occult, Bruce/Batman has his own contacts, so there was never a reason for Tim to bring any of it up.
Then, the events of Identity Crisis/Crisis of Conscience occur, and Bruce doesn't want to talk to Zatanna (his usual mystic go-to) if it can be helped. He doesn't want to call in anyone connected to most of the Justice League if it can be helped.
So when they come across a cursed object, Tim immediately identifies it and tells Bruce not to worry, he knows a guy who can handle it. The man knows his civilian identity, so they'll have to pretend Bruce bought the object as part of an action or estate sale lot.
John comes and handles it. Before he leaves he comments that he's glad Tim's biological father finally decided to step up and that Bruce better take good care of the boy.
When Tim explains that Bruce isn't his father, the look on John's face clearly shows that he's trying to figure out how to back-step, but not in the expected way. More in the 'I let on information i wasn't supposed to' way.
Which is how Bruce and Tim end up running a paternity test in the Cave at four am.
Alfred and Dick are delighted by the results.
[Alternative ending: John pulls Bruce aside to let him know that Janet told him Jack wasn't Tim's father and that both he and Bruce were on the short list and he hadn't known Jack died or he'd have contacted him already. They have to wait to find out which of them is the lucky one. Either Bruce turns out to be the father and John just lets Tim know he can still call him whenever needed or it turns out John is the father and they decide Tim should still stay with Bruce but John has visitations. Also, Tim might have been showing signs of his Homo Magi heritage when he recognized all these cursed objects. John insists on teaching him to use his magic despite Bruce's unease with it.]

What would be things the batkids would have grievances with Alfred over? It's always about Bruce but the world doesn't revolve around him only, so let's look at another guardian/grandfatherly figure.
I feel like they all would be upset with Alfred for letting Bruce get away with most of the shit he does to them. Like how Alfred's supposed to be the one holding Bruce accountable, but he doesn't. And here's the list from least angry at Alfred to most angry at Alfred
Damian. I don't think Damian realizes how much of Bruce's behavior stems from Alfred being a pushover, and he worships both of them too much to actually see it.
Dick. In those early days, Alfred was the one there for him in a house that was too big, too still, and too empty. He probably started getting angry at Alfred during his early 20s, but then it was just Dick, Damian, and Alfred, and Dick kind of became Bruce, so he had times where he resented him, but he "grew out" of it
Jason. And I think he's only the tiniest bit behind Dick because he's almost pretty much in the same boat. Alfred was the only person there in a house that was too big, and when everything was too much, and compared to this Billionaire, Alfred seemed human to Jason. He probably took comfort in Alfred before he took comfort in Bruce. And then Alfred was the one who suggested Jason should quit Robin. And, maybe for a hot second there, (and I mean, a singular passing thought then never again) he blamed Alfred for his death, but Jason also has a plethora of parental issues, so he wouldn't blame Alfred. And this is assuming Jason is completely unaware of the way Alfred low key Shat on Jason's grave so that Bruce would feel less guilty, or whatever.
Then there's Cass. She's just way too good at reading people to not see the way Alfred's pushover tendencies are effecting the 'family' negatively. She wants to yell at Alfred to "Put his foot down." But she knows he won't, so she doesn't. And In a sense, she might just be the same as Alfred.
Then there's a gap, and Duke. He didn't really know Alfred for that long, if you really think about it. Maybe a year, tops? And the reason he's smack dab in the middle is because sometimes, Bruce will do something and Duke will be like "That... is kinda messed up. Who raised you?" and then he'll take it back bc he'll realize he's speaking ill of the dead.
Tim. I hate woobifying him, but Idk, Alfred was the one who gave Tim Robin. Alfred was the one who gave Damian Robin, and I feel like, Tim, Looking back would think "What the actual fuck. What I was doing as a teenager should've been Alfred's job as Bruce's Guardian" Maybe not currently, but after some time. Maybe when he's in his 20s or has his own kids or something.
Stephanie Brown. She's the Family Friend. She has a slightly outside perspective to all of this, and she's great at puzzles. She Died for Bruce's cause and that didn't stop ANYTHING. She's constantly listening to when any of the batclan members are ranting about Bruce, and his poor coping skills and realizes that it's all just a fucking cycle and it started from Alfred. Alfred was confused on the line of professional and parent and Parented Bruce by being a Butler. Which wasn't what Bruce needed at an 8/9/10 year old who just lost his parents. And that's why Bruce doesn't know how to Parent any of his children without making them some form of a hero. Because Bruce grew up with a boundary of professionalism separating him from any real parenting, and he needs that boundary while parenting his kids. Obviously Bruce has his moments, but those are probably from when he had REAL parents.
Steph tried explaining it to Duke once, and he understood PERFECTLY, but then Duke said not to repeat this to anyone else because they worship the ground Alfred walks on.

Twins au
Danny and Damian are twins, Ra only wanted one heir, so he told Talia to kill Danyal. She didn't do it and let a baby Danyal in a random little town.
Meanwhile the ghosts of Thomas and Marta Wayne wander around gotham as always. Many times they were about to fade but look like their son can't keep himself and their family safe enough to do it. (Bruce's parents obssesion is the safety of their family, when they died they didn't know what happend with their little brucie. This, more the natural ectoplasm in gotham, caused by the lots of deaths there, let they become in ghost. But since their son and later their grandsons decided work as vigilants they can't fulfill their obsession. Who with a obssesion like theirs, could rest in peace when their alive family decide dress up as animals and fight crime?)
The day of the twins' birth, they felt a pull, a new connection. They went of where it comes from just to find a newborn twins. To one side, they were over the moon, Two grandsons more! But all the emotion felt when they heard Ra's order and saw how Talia gave up in Danyal. They saw how a couple with a young girl adopted Danyal but soon notice how the couple were ghost hunters and that they can't enter into the house.
Over the years they watch the twins, they didn't plan talk with they but Damian catch them, or best say it, sense them. Probably relate in how Damian born and grow in a ecto-contamined place (by the pit) and his train as asassin. They panick and though in hide again, without say anything, but seeing how lonely were Damian and.. they just couldn't.
They told the true, at first Damian looked esceptic but as the time pass he trust them more and more. When they told him about Danyal, Damian was in rage. He demanded that they let him contact with his twin and if they didn't he will find him by his own. They still visited Danyal or Danny, how their other grandson prefer to be called nowdays, but not as much as Damian and Bruce with the kids. Danny live in a safe enviroment in contrast with the others.
They thought in deny Damian's demand but... maybe this could be helpfull for both sides if they play their cards right. Danyal's adoptive family was becoming colder year by year, the fentons lock themselves in their lab more and more time, they even start forgetting feed Danny and Jazz sometimes.
After put some conditions they agree with Damian petition, but first they need to talk with Danyal.
Late a panick atack, incredulity by the existence of ghosts and conviced Danny that they were telling the true, the twin begin talk trought cards. Not the best way but the safest.
This rutine continue in the coming years, when Damian moved in with Bruce become more difficult keep the visits and cards in secret, but somehow they sucessed.
Even with their family dangerous life (and all the deaths, family problems and Bruce's distrust problem. How this happend they thought the raised their son better thatn this.) the twins get use to their rutine.
Until Danny accident.
Danny didn't come back, al least not completly. When they got over their grandson death (and the blame. Damian barely sucessed in keep his composure in front Bruce and the others when he found out about it.) and the fact that now all their alive family were heroes come Pariah.
Their grandson become in a king, a king of a whole dimession, and the pression was breaking him. They couldn't stop Damian of take his stuff and go to help his brother.
Look like their family will fall into chaos again

I love soulmate AUs. And I love hurting my favorite characters. I also had a very big, very long phase of Hanahaki AUs. Combine them all, I have Hanahaki disease as a consequence of soulmate rejection and Tim has this in your soulmate AU.
Tim is the smartest of the Robins, probably even smarter than Batman. But he was in love and in denial. He wanted to have a family, to live in the white picket fenced house with children and a dog or cat with his soulmate. He was in denial when Bruce keeps a relationship with Selena or when Dick was with Babs or nearly married to Kori or when he found out Red Hood was Jason and very much wants to kill him or when Damian kept on degrading or humiliating or actively trying to kill him. But he can't deny the flowers that come out of his mouth any longer. I'm not good with the flower language but imagine the different flowers that come out representing his love. He's been rejected by his soulmate. He really is as unlovable as his parents say.
I imagine the rejection comes in different times for every man. For brutim, it could be after Tim brought his soulmate back from the time stream but hadn't received any words from Bruce save for the thanks he got when he was rescued. They're at a family dinner, everyone in the family is present for once. Tim would be so excited because it's been weeks since he last saw or talked to Bruce outside patrol. He'd even ignore Damian, knowing it makes Bruce... Comfortable? Happy? That his soulmate and his son aren't fighting. So he ignored Damian even when his lung felt so suspiciously tight when he saw how differently Damian was treated from how he was treated. He tried to think logically. Damian is his son, yada, yada, yada. So he kept his mouth shut and ignored the looks Damian sent his way. But Damian didn't appreciate that and in true demon brat fashion, Damian brought up his mother wanting to see Bruce. Tim is starting to think that the spawn somehow has managed to learn that Tim is his father's soulmate. Nevermind, Tim will not dignify a response to that. But then Damian kept on pressing and decided to bring up Selena. The brat must really hate him if he's bringing up Selena and the rumors that Batman was seen with Catwoman a few nights ago, rumors that Tim desperately ignored. He doesn't know what he expects Bruce to say. Maybe deny the rumors? Defend Tim? Bruce does none of that. Tim spent the next hour of dinner, drinking water and swallowing his saliva, hoping to ease the tightness in throat and chest. He flees at the given chance, rushing to his apartment. He expects to throw up the dinner he just had. But flowers came instead. He definitely threw up his dinner after that when it became clear to him what just happened.
For dicktim, the flowers came when Dick announced that he's engaged to Kori or when Dick took Robin away. And I know that I just said that Tim was in denial when Dick was engaged to Kori. But imagine Tim who only wants to be with his soulmate, to be married to him. Weddings are a big deal to Tim. (Selena getting married to Bruce could've also been the time the flowers first appeared for brutim.) His soulmate getting married to someone else, planning a wedding with someone else. It would hurt so bad. He'll spend next few years simultaneously hoping he still wakes up the next day and hoping he doesn't. Kori and Dick doesn't last but the flowers remain. Then his dad dies, then Steph, then Bart, then Kon, then Bruce. Then Robin was gone. His soulmate gave it away to someone who has very nearly killed him. If the wedding didn't give him his flowers, this will. There are pros and cons to having the flowers early. Tim has learned how to live with the flowers threatening to fill his lungs. He doesn't know if he'll manage being so stressed out while also learning how to deal with it. But the years of abuse on his lungs have also left considerable damage on him. Enough that Ra's was considering removing the flowers regardless of the damage it may cause on Tim's soul without his consent during Tim's splenectomy. He was so sure he could've convinced the young detective. But Tim is a survivor. When Dick catches him from the fall and Tim calls Dick his brother, he has made his resolve.
For JayTim, the flowers came either on Titan's Tower or with the batarang on his chest. Maybe Jason is even aware of the Hanahaki while he was beating Tim up in the tower. Tim had no strength to keep the flowers down when it came. If Jason had more control, if he hadn't let the Pit overpower him, he would've realized that the scene of bruised bloodied skin littered with flowers was familiar, that he once knew someone else in the same state, same position as his soulmate. I'm not familiar with flowers but imagine the flowers having the same color as the bruises decorating Tim's skin. It would've been poetic and it might've lit the literature maniac part of Jason. But for now he was busy writing his name on the walls and decorating it with the blue and purple flowers. Months later, Jason is cured from the Pit. Apologies were made. Tim is rightfully distrustful but his love and duty to his family supercedes that. They form a tentative truce. The flowers are still there but for the first time, in months, his chest has felt lighter. Then Bruce dies and the Pit comes back. Jason was throwing a batarang to his chest. And Tim coughs up blood. And flowers.
For damitim, the flowers could come for so many times. Maybe when they first met and learn that they're soulmates. Maybe during the fall from the dinosaur. But I'm more partial to the time Damian cuts Tim's line. Damian was so, so angry when he saw the contingency plans his soulmate made. Contingency plans for him. He felt rejected. What's the use of a soulmate if they can't trust him? What's the use of a soulmate if they make plans to incapacitate him? Like that, Tim was rejected. His line was cut. All night, he was wondering why his chest feels tight. Why was he coughing up flowers, a few minutes before his patrol with Robin and Nightwing? Dick said Damian was better. So why? He was so preoccupied by this thoughts that he nearly hadn't been able to save himself when he realized he was falling. It took far too long for him to realize that someone cut his line, that someone wanted him dead. It took even far longer for him to realize that his soulmate wanted him dead. He tries to explain himself when he learns of the cause of his soulmate's ire. But Damian was having none of it. Not even when Bruce explained that even Batman himself, had contingency plans for his soulmate. For years, Tim tries and says sorry. Even as the flowers in his chest grew. Damian screams of rejection and betrayal. And the tired part of Tim wants to scream back. What do you know of betrayal? What do you know of rejection? You, who had no flowers growing in your chest. You, who had not laid in your bed wondering whether it's the last time or the last day. You, who had not made the difficult decision to limit your activities as a vigilante because the flowers in your lungs makes it hard to breathe, because the flowers in your lungs could very well kill you if you accidentally run into Ivy. Those were all the things Tim has to go through. Tim was the one whose relationship with the family grow even more distant, even more strained because the family sided with Damian who has been "rejected" by his soulmate. Even Bruce, who had initially came to Tim's defense, started to side with Damian.
Tim tries with all of them. He tries until he physically couldn't. He stops when a shortness of his breath, a stuttering of his heart, had distracted him and nearly killed him during a mission with the Titans. Had it not been for Kon who had heard the irregular beat of his heart. If I was a better person, Tim dies and his other half mourns. But I'm not. Tim stops going back to Gotham. He stops trying and focuses on himself. He will never reject his soulmate. He will never make them feel how he had felt all those months or years ago. He will always love them but he stops asking for more. He grows his relationships with his friends and eventually builds something more with Kon. At first, they were both worried. Tim doesn't want his soulmate to go through Hanahaki but he doesn't want to let Kon go. The first few months of their relationship was spent monitoring the health of Tim's soulmate before it's made clear that it doesn't affect them. Tim laughs when he thinks. His soulmates really didn't want him. And so he moves on. He loves them but he will move on. He's done waiting. And slowly the flowers stop growing. Slowly, he stops waking up every few hours to cough up flowers. They didn't notice it at first. They were too preoccupied worrying over the dark spot that has started growing on Kon's skin. They hadn't noticed until they're at the medbay, fussing over Tim's injury from their recent mission and Kon was using his x-ray vision to check for internal injuries. Kon sees his clear lungs, devoid of flowers that tormented his boyfriend for years. Kon was scared of what this means. Has Tim's soulmate accepted him back? Was Tim leaving him now? He was afraid and hurting but he tells Tim what he sees and braces himself for the inevitable. This is how the best relationship in Kon's life ends. But it didn't. Tim didn't want this to end. He was the happiest he has been all these months with Kon. He tells Kon that. He was going to be selfish this time. He had dealt with the flowers for so long, his soulmate could deal with it themselves. He promises himself to Kon. Maybe his soulmate was right, Tim says, the universe did make a mistake making them soulmates because if he was asked to choose a soulmate, he would've chosen Kon. They kiss and they have the best sex in their lives. The next morning, they wake up and sees the dark spot on Kon's skin had become Tim's soulmark. They're soulmates.
Meanwhile, Tim's soulmate wakes up, surrounded by the same flowers Tim used to cough up. And their soulmark gone from their skin

ANON!!!! ANON ANON ANON!!!!!!! THIS WAS SO GOOD!!!! I LOVED EVERY SINGLE WORD!!!! ♥️ ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😩😩😩😩😩😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍😍😍😍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
soulmate and hanaki both carry, in my opinion, some of the best love angst fics in any fandom!!! the unrequited love tropes are so good especially when the person who was hurting ends up happy in the end!!!!!!!!!!!
i love the idea that this wasn't a 'misunderstanding' that tim and bruce/dick/jason/damian knew fully well that tim was their soulmate- not just that but that everyone else knew they were soulmates as well.
that means talia, selina, kory, barbara and everyone who were fucking or dating bruce or dick knew for a fact that tim was the soulmate- and they didn't care. or maybe it's not that they didn't care but that they were told that it was all taken care of. by bruce and dick most likely.
maybe in bruce and dick's mind it makes sense to not reciprocate because....tim is young. he's a child and he can't possibly engage in the kind of relationship they're used to- the kind of relationship where the two go on dates and have sex and are emotionally vulnerable and honest with each other. both bruce and dick go through some pretty heavy stuff and are mentally sometimes not in the best place and so tim, a child, can't provide the kind of support they need even if he tries so hard to be their equal and be their soulmate. even if tim offered they'd still say no because it's not right. tim is so young and shouldn't have to shoulder the burden and horrors of an older soulmate. soulmate age gaps aren't rare- they're quite common. but even if soulmates meet when one is an adult and the other is a child the child won't just get married- they'll stay with their parents until they're an adult. bruce and dick have both probably seen the...bad side of soulmates with age gaps where one soulmate was too young when the 'adult' stuff started. just because someone is meant for you doesn't mean you can't hurt them.
so they think they're protecting tim. by focusing on women their own age (nevermind that sometimes tim cries and wonders if because he's not a girl that they won't look at him, that they've rejected him). in bruce and dick's minds their distance from tim is justified. they can't take tim out to dinner or on dates without it looking creepy. they can't give tim a relationship when he's too physically and mentally underdeveloped. they just can't do it.
but they never tell tim this.
they never tell tim the reason why they won't look at him, why they'll get into relationships, spend the night with, and nearly marry OTHER people. and honestly....it's because they forget. tim is just always...there. he's a comfortable presence in their life. when they go through a bad breakup, when things turn sour, when they're betrayed, when they're left at the alter- tim is there. ready to comfort, offer gentle words, and squeeze their shoulders in a way that makes them feel like everything will be okay. they take him for granted.
they disregard his feelings, when he shows up to breakfast with puffy and redrimmed eyes it doesn't even occur to them that they could be the cause. tim never snaps at them, cries, or yells about how they're choosing other women, other heroes, other people over him.
they don't think about him and maybe that the cruelest part of it all.
they don't think about tim. until he's gone.
when they wake up to flower petals sprinkled over their body and their mark aching like someone has punched a hole through their heart- they panic. the terror and fear that swallows them is unlike anything they've ever felt.
they've lost their soulmate and it feels like they've been ripped in half.
until they call everyone they know, pull up security camera footage and see tim (alive, he's alive and that brings so much relief they could almost cry before the cold realization sets in) and superboy making pancakes and eggs together, laughing and looking disheveled in the way that lets people know they got laid the night before.
hurt radiates through their throat at the sight they can barely talk. disbelief and betrayal sink into them as they watch as superboy strokes at the soulmate mark- their soulmate mark printed right over where his heart is.
both dick and bruce lay a hand over where their marks used to be. there's no scar, no pain, not even an itch. there's no evidence of them ever having a soulmate.
for jason it's complicated. the fact that tim is his soulmate always gets drowned out by the fact that he's the boy bruce replaced him with. the superior model, the one that would obey, that wouldn't disappoint, the one that wasn't dirty, the one that didn't live in a gutter, who didn't have to give handies in an alley just to make a buck. maybe the old jason, the young and innocent one would've been ecstatic and so happy to meet his soulmate. jason had given up on ever finding anyone who wasn't his soulmate because he SAW how that played out. willis and catherine hadn't been soulmates and whenever jason had asked her about the splotchy soulmate mark that didn't seem to really make any sense she always got quiet. jason always swore what he and his soulmate had would be different- that his soulmate wouldn't need to suffer ever so long as jason was with them. sometimes the rage he directs at tim is the pit, other times it's genuine rage and hatred. at some point jason runs out of excuses and just needs to accept that he can't love tim more than he hates him. that he'll always hate tim for what he represents just like he'll always hate the joker for what he is. but...there are time...moments. when jason has a bit of clarity when he's not hurting as much and laughing along with tim at something stupid bruce did. when alfred is bringing them trays of hot, jam filled cookies and warm mugs of honey lemon tea because both of them have sore throats from being stuck wading water in gotham harbor for a drug dumping bust. jason thinks the first person to ever make him genuinely chuckle at something after...everything- is tim. but then bruce fucking dies or gets lost in time and all the pain and the hurt and the fact that he hadn't gotten catharsis or closure or whatever the fuck- and tim is there. like always. and maybe jason should feel bad. his soulmate had been so wary around him but had come around eventually. but in jason's mind it doesn't matter. because the joker is still around, because bruce is gone but then he's not, because so much of the pain that jason endured has gone unanswered. and tim is there and it's easy to hurt him, hate, him, taunt him using private conversations they had as ammo. jason shouldn't be surprised as he is when he wakes up while on a job and finds his bed filled with crabapple blossoms. something in his chest just goes tight. he doesn't move for what feels like hours and when he does his whole arm is shaking and pulling up feeds from gotham then san francisco because jason recalls how tim often crosses the country to be with the titans. and he finds...something that has him clenching his jaw and balling his shaking fists together. tim not being his soulmate should be a good thing. jason hated him too much, was never able to scrub away the resentment of him...but seeing him in another person's arms, seeing that person with HIS soulmark....he wants to cry. the universe has decided jason was no longer worthy of his soulmate the same way it decided he was no longer worthy of life and so took it away from him. jason should be happy but all he wants to do is cry.
damian is young, jealous, and knows nothing about selfless love. when he meets tim too much of his is brainwashed from the league and talia. when he learns tim is his soulmate too much of him is brainwashed by what he was led to believe a soulmate would be. drake doesn't welcome him with open arms, doesn't fawn over damian or forgive any of his faults. drake argues with him and fights back against damian like a cat escaping the hands grabbing them. there is tension and antagonism that runs deep between them. damian doesn't think him attempting to kill drake should be held against him because...because that's just how he is and drake should KNOW that. when he finds his name in a list of targets he cannot hold back the hurt, the pain, or the resentment. the accusations flow out of him like water. it's the worst pain he's ever felt because damian had been TRYING to get better and improve only that drake hadn't been around to see it. for nearly a year drake had abandoned him. not a single call, word, or letter until he'd blown into gotham and demanded they obey like he had any idea about what they'd endured in the city during his absence. he left gotham, he left DAMIAN and he couldn't just walk back in and expect loyalty. a year is a long time for someone like damian. he grew an inch, he got calmer, more merciful. he gained the respect of other fighters in the city, of citizens. but that wasn't enough for his soulmate who still deemed him a "threat". so yes damian is upset and he makes that known. and eventually drake leaves gothan unable to handle the fact that he was wrong about damian. no apology. no letter.
just like last time.
damian is bitter and angry and hurt, bad mouthing drake to anyone and everyone and at first he has their sympathy and ears but they start growing tired of it. red hood mocks him one night, asking if he really expected "perfect little timmy" to ever want to be soulmates with a demented league brat like him.
damian attacks him with his sword and leaves a deep cut in his thigh that has hood cursing. the attack draws the attention of other bats who are furious with him for attacking todd. grayson looks at him with deep disappointment "i thought you'd outgrown this". damian has a bad week. he's grounded and his father schedules an appointment with a therapist for his behavior, utterly unsympathetic when damian said it was drake's fault.
two days before his appointment damain wakes up in a bed of flowers that make his nose itch and no soulmark. damian's scream wakes the entire manor.
his missing soulmark has grayson turning white and sprinting for a phone. father stares at the hives forming on his skin. an allergic reaction from the flowers.
damian is given some medicine and cream and forced to watch as his soulmate is held and stroked by a clone. damian can't stop the angry tears the- the betrayed tears that burn trails down his cheeks like hot lava. damian may not have liked or loved his soulmate the way he knew he was supposed to but...but...but he didn't think he'd do this.
damian cries and no one comforts him or tries to console him.
why would they?
damian had been talking about how much he hated drake, how much the universe had made a mistake, how much drake was not and would never be his soulmate.
well damian got his wish didn't he?
now drake isn't his soulmate.
no one is.
not anymore.

Darling, I just had an idea, but my brain doesn't know how to process it yet. And I want your opinion on it.
So, we know Thomas was a doctor, all right. Bruce ended up dropping out of medical school and all that. To put on the suit and be a mogul/justice fighter.
And well, that thanks to all that he was reunited with his kids and blah-blah-blah--
But I feel like he gave up the career for more than one reason.
It was relatively comforting and nostalgic for him to study medicine… I mean, it was his father's profession and I refuse to believe anything other than Bruce using his father's anatomy books to study or going through old medical cases to see his father's take on them.
And I doubt Alfred didn't chide him every now and then that Bruce would have been a wonderful doctor. And that, although he doesn't complain about what he's achieved, he would have liked to have seen his boy be a doctor.
But, I'm just saying, can you imagine what would have happened if Alfred had convinced Bruce to just take a year off and then go back to medical school?
How would things have been? How would he have met his kids?
I feel like Bruce would have been a pediatrician. Because I have a feeling he would have been a wonderful one. A strapping, sweet, tender, dedicated paediatrician.
I feel that, when the circus people noticed that Dick wasn't eating or drinking anything at all after his parents died, they made a triple effort between them to get him to a paediatrician. And Bruce, or God, just to see poor Dick completely depressed and traumatized…. It was like looking at himself at that age.
I feel like he didn't want to charge the Crico people anything, he covered the cost of Dick's recovery himself. And when he found out that Social Services wanted to take him away from the circus, he didn't think twice about it.
And before he knew it, he was in the legal department of the hospital, signing the legal guardianship papers. Alfred almost threw away his dinner when he saw him arrive at the mansion, after three straight guards, with a little Dick curled up in his exhausted arms.
I feel that Jason, out of some Samaritan soul's desire, inadvertently runs him over as he flees with the tyres of a stolen car. The person in question, noticing what he had done, takes Jason to the emergency room… and that's how Bruce meets his other child. Obviously the unknown pays for everything.
A little Jason, completely frightened and disoriented in a huge hospital bed, who does not know how he got there. A little Jason, who from one moment to the next has to answer the silly questions of a rather rude policeman who makes him want to burst into tears. A little Jason who, amazed, watches in wonder as Dr. Wayne takes the ugly policeman out and helps him eat and tucks him into bed, gives him extra jellies on the sly and always reads him a story until he falls asleep.
The kindly Dr. Wayne, who cries when he learns that the boy's parents won't pick him up and have basically abandoned him at the hospital…. So now he's in a huge room, inside a huge house, with a rather boisterous older brother… but now Doctor Wayne is his dad, he always has warm food and is tucked in every night; and then sneaks into his new dad's bed.
What do you think?

(Just a visual reference of Bruce, holding a baby in NCIU)
Hey bestie thanks for considering me!!! Honestly, looking through the peep-hole, the medical field seems like the most desirable career for Bruce (calculated, energy taxing, honestly kind of horrifying but also moving in a constant speeding wheel of innovation)
It's more so the branch of medicine where it gets fickle. Thomas was a surgeon if I'm not mistaken (okay, talk your trash Dr. Strange) and I feel like Bruce would feel a constant pressure of living up to him if that were the case, which is why he dropped out in the first place besides batman (for me)
There's also the detail of Bruce's hands barely hanging on for dear life after so many fractures and Injuries. I don't think he'd like to take the risk djsjs
Peditrican seems like the best option, former to nurse! I love the backstories for the kids as well :>

More of the amnesia verse, please!
It wasn't until Bruce was in your Aunt's house, surrounded by countless cousins, friends, aunts and uncles- that he realized just how massive your family was. Or how deep your roots went in that town.
And he could see how it would tempt Dick to stay.
All his life, he'd wanted a connection to something. Anything that could fill the void his parents left when they were murdered. And watching Dick help your aunt into the house, leading her to her favorite chair- both of them red-eyed and still distraught- he was both sad he'd found it and grateful. Bruce had expected your family to be furious with Dick. Instead, they'd scooped him up and rallied. Because they loved you. And you loved Dick. And so they loved him. Because, as Bruce was Given to understand, even if he was kind of weird- if you loved him there must be something about him.
"I didn't get a chance to say anything earlier," Bruce said, approaching Sarah, "I just wanted to say- I'm- I'm sorry. This must be horrible for all of you."
Sarah sighed and nodded, "I've always said Honey was my first baby," she said softly, "After her mama and daddy died-"
When Bruce made a soft noise Sarah smiled sadly, "They died while she was a baby. A drunk driver hit the car and they were dead before the ambulance got there."
"Oh-"
"It was their first big night out- Alex, her daddy, got tickets to see Def Leopard. He was a big classic rock guy," she said breaking off with a snort, "Thankfully, Mama managed to convince Tara that even with Lawn seats, a concert was gonna be way too loud for a baby."
Bruce gave her a questioning look and Sarah smiled ruefully, "They were only 19. But. Honey was safe, thank god. And Mama and Daddy took over after that. So not only was she their first grandbaby but she was the last piece of their baby."
"Her dad's parents didn't-"
Sarah snorted bitterly, "They got mad Alex knocked Tara up and refused to so much as LOOK at Y/N until 'bout the time she was in high school and Jerry- his dad- had a stroke. Then all of a sudden he wanted her around."
His detective instincts kicked in and Bruce filed that away for later. Making a note to follow up on it. In a town this small, grudges and old wounds festered and it was easy for an infection to spread. And he was going to ask a question but then he looked where Sarah was looking. She was watching Dick cuddle the kid that climbed into his lap to show him a new coloring picture.
"They were trying for a baby," Sarah said, shaking her head. "Not that Honey really told anyone that- it's not their business, you know?"
He blinked, but nodded, "Can you keep a secret here?"
"Sometimes," Sarah snorted. "With how quick they got married, most everybody expected her to be having a baby two years ago-"
"What's the family think about that?" Bruce asked, still processing the fact that Dick was thinking about having kids at all.
Sarah shrugged, "Honey's a grown woman who pays her own bills and can change the oil in her own truck- she ain't have to answer to nobody... And most people know better than to tell Honey what to do about anything. So if they didn't like it they mostly kept their mouths shut."
"What about you?" he asked the matriarch, smiling a little.
"Honey's a good girl. What she does in her own house and who she does it with is none of my business until she tells me about it- that's the only reason I know they were thinking about a baby."
"Just thinking about it?"
"And not doing a whole hell of a lot to prevent it," she snorted.

Lifeless leaves crackled under his exhausted feeta as he moved closer to the familiar inscribed stones and two names that came into view.
Thomas and Martha Wayne
Cold winds swept by him but he didn't pay any mind. Blood moon lit the sky, as if bleeding on his fate.
His hand placed the white tulips on the grave and he slowly bent down, touching the rigid writings on the tombstones.
"Hi mom, hi dad. " He whispered.
"I... Met her. She was beautiful and smart too, I checked. But I, " He tried to swallow his emotion. "I let her go. My life is too dangerous, I can't be this selfish. "
His voice cracked. "That boy who dreamed about his soulmate is gone, he died with you, " The tears finally started pouring out. "All that's left is a man who hides behind a mask. " He kneeled down sobbing. "I don't deserve her, I don't. "
I don't deserve to be happy.
This thought gave flashbacks to the prior conversation he had with Alfred. Where he finally broke down and told him everything even that he did not deserve to be happy.
Alfred had told him that he knew Bruce blamed himself for what happened all those years ago, but that his parents always wanted to see him happy.
"All they wanted was your happiness. " He had said.
But how could he?
He looked at the gravestones and asked sobbing. "But you are not here. " He hiccuped and tightly clutched them.
"But a selfie part of me do want her. Tell me mom what should I do? Dad you should have been here? "
His crys echoed in the graveyard as weeped and weeped till the last of his tears dried.
Then he sat and starred at his parents as if asking for approval or answers, maybe both.
After sometime horizon started turning crimson, the chilly air now turning a pleasant breeze. A few brown leaves landed on the graves and some patels of tulip touched his feet. He looked at the graves before touching the patels near his feets.
Maybe he did deserve to be happy.
🌙
He looked at the tall building contemplating wheather to go or not.
Bruce had finally decided to correct his mistake and try to see if she would forgive him and beg for a chance.
He investigated (stalked) her and found out where she lived. And that was why he was standing below an apartment complex, wanting to get to her flat. The security guard won't let him enter that was for sure.
He took a deep breath as a plan formed in this mind. He discreetly entered the complex. The dark suit made him invisible in the pitch black. After he successfully dodged the guard(spoiler: he was sleeping)he searched around till he found her balcony. He took out his grappling hook and hooked it on her railing. And swiftly climbed to her place.
When he landed he saw she was still awake, watching TV. They were soulmate for a reason.
Gulping he knocked on the glass door her head instantly wipped to the door. She yelped and tumbled down the sofa. Shit, this is going to backfire.
He cleared his throat and said. "It is me."
He observed as she froze and then looked up , narrowing her eyes in puzzlement. As realization dawned in her face, it became stone cold.
He grimaced behind his mask and knocked again, thinking she would just ignore him or worse call the security.
But to his astonishment, she started making her way to the door, to him. Reaching it she skidded the door open. As soon as the door opened so did his pandora box.
"Listen y/n I'm sorry for invading your privacy. I'm here to say sorry, please forgive me for what I said. How I left you all alone and never told you why. But I want you for worse or for better, I would wait forever and ever. I broke your heart and I want to put it back together. Please give me a chance."
He exhaled after his speech and-
Bang
He realized too late that he had been hit by a bat as he was already falling down from her balcony. She did give a reply though.
"FUCK OF BATMAN."
He grunted as he fell to the ground with a thud. He looked up at her apartment and wondered. Did he thought she would just run into his arms? Did he really thought it was going to be easy?
Determination flashed through his eyes as he stood up and dusted off his suit.
Alfred called him stubborn for a reason.
🌙
So he started sending her flowers and letters to try to persuade her. He knew better to go in-person again, he was pretty sure he had a concussion so he did wanted to take any risks.
Everyday he dropped the gifts off, everyday he requested to meet, everyday he waited in the dark alley for her, everyday he returned back to his hotel room defeated.
He wanted her, wanted her forgiveness, wanted her love. He knew it was selfish of him to wish that after what he did to her.
But he wanted to be selfish for once.
It had been two weeks, following this routine and he was losing hope bit by bit every single day.
His thoughts were halted abruptly by the insistent ringing of his phone. Picking up he saw Alfred's name flashing on the screen.
He sighed and picked up the phone. "Hello"
"Master Bruce were you able to convince miss?"
"No" he said defeated.
"What is taking so long? Gordon-"
"Gordon! What happened to him? Is everything okay?" He hastily cut Alfred off. When he decided to go persuade her he told Gordon that he won't be coming for sometime due to personal reasons. Gotham and Gordon will freak out if batman went missing.
"Christ! Everything is alright, Gordon is also okay. He just came to ask for more funds for GCPD." Alfred explained.
Bruce sighed in relief but that quickly faded after hearing Alfred's next words.
"You didn't answer my question."
He groaned and replied. "No, she doesn't want to see Batman. " He didn't tell him the colourful words used by you.
"What about Bruce? "
"Huh? " Bruce said, dumbfounded.
"Did you tell her you are Bruce? "
He didn't. And he knew why, he was scared. Scared of revealing his deepest secret and what it would entail. Alfred also understood the silence and replied exasperated. "Seriously?! "
When silence still persisted he said. "Go figure." And hung up.
Bruce looked at the phone.
Yes it was time for Bruce to figure this fuck out.
🌙
You sat on your sofa in the gloomy room, melancholic. The music flowed in the air but did nothing to uplift you. The night was black accompanied by heavy rain and thunder. Crying with or on you.
You were inconsolable when you returned from Gotham. Morning and night marred by heart ache. As if everything fell into abyss.
Your parents were extremely worried. Broken heart, that was what plagued their nightmares.
When you saw all of this you decided that to stand up,again. What happened, happened. You might not be wanted by your soulmate but everyone else in your life wanted you till death. And that was enough, they were enough.
But that fateful night when you saw him. Standing on your balcony and calling you. Everything came rushing back. The pain, the suffering, the rejection.
You'd be lying if you said you paid attention to his speech. Something about forgiveness? Huh the audacity. You were so furious that you hit him with a bat and told him to never come back, again.
But what started after surprised you even more. He started sending flowers and letters every. Single. Day.
And the letters. Everyday he begged for forgiveness, for a chance, to meet in the alley. You read every letter and tore them up, just like he did. It felt like he poured his heart onto those papers but not all, something was still missing. But by each letter your persistence was loosening it's grip. Bit by bit.
Your eyes flew open by the ringing of your phone, you immediately answered it.
"Hello"
"Hello mam, someone is here to meet you. " The guard your brain supplied.
"Who's there? "
After a long pause he answered, which almost made you drop your mobile. "Bruce Wayne. "
Why is he here? At this time? "I'm coming. " You said and rushed downstairs.
🌙
When you reached, you stopped dead in your tracks.
Because the Bruce Wayne was standing there completely soaked in the winter rain. You immediately rushed beside him, the rain splattering on the ground and on your umbrella.
"Mr. Wayne what are you doing here? At this time. " You asked and tried to prevent him from the rain by the umbrella.
He looked at it and gently pushed it away. "No need I'm already soaked, " Looking away he said. "It's been a long time and I was too afraid. "
"Huh? "
He turned to you and said. "I'm here to talk to you, can we? " He looked at the entrance.
You understood his unspoken words. "Yes please. " And gestured for him to follow you.
🌙
You left the umbrella outside and entered Bruce following suit, water trickling down from his body to the floor.
Without caring about your sofa you told him. "Please sit. " He did without complaint.
You also sat across from him and gestured for him to speak. He didn't, silence stretched across the room while you tried not to fidget because of the intensity.
Then he spoke. "See your mate mark. "
"What? "
"See your mate mark. " He repeated.
You hesitantly pulled up your sleeve to see it and when you did it felt like you had been hit by a truck.
It was glowing. You looked up to see Bruce, tears building in your eyes. You had so many questions.
A tear ran down his cheek. "I'm Batman. I was the one who rejected you because I wanted to keep you safe and... "
He went on but you zoned out the moment he those words "I'm Batman" You could mildly hear the words of Talyor singing.
And you could know, oh
That I don't want you to go
It all made sense now, the rejection, the coldness, the pained expression. And when you saw Bruce leave the wayne tower that day and how you felt, empty like someone was taking away your peace.
He was still talking so you put up your hand to stop him. Standing up you moved towards him. "If only you would have told me before." You said solemnly and slowly.
He hung his head low as you sat beside him. Exhaling a shaky breath and lightly touched his rough face making him look at you.
And say you want me
"I'm not afraid of men in masks. " You confessed and the flood gates of both of you opened.
Before you knew it you both were meeting halfway in a passionate kiss. His hands flew to your waist as he brought you in his lap. You caressed his neck not caring that he was still wet.
When you both finally parted you gazed into his eyes, lovingly and hugged him tightly.
You had no questions now.
🌙
Warm breeze wrestled the leaves. The sky was like glass and the winter sun shined brilliantly. The gloomy Gotham was pleasant today. Tranquility, that was all he felt.
He gently bent down and delicately placed the tulips on the grave, light jingling filling the air. He starred at the tombstones silently talking, hoping they could hear.
After some time he sighed in contentment he slowly stood up again. Giving them one last glance. He felt a hand wrap around his. He looked at her and smiled, she smiled back and rested her head on his shoulder.
He intertwined his hand with the henna tattooed one. Softly kissing her forehead. They languidly walked out of the cemetery.
He was happy

Need to know if this fic idea already exists. If it doesn't, SOMEONE PLEASE WRITE THIS.
Ok, so I just read "Harry Potter and the Asterous Wandmaker" by Aprotny on AO3, and it gave me ideas.
The basic premise is that Mary Grayson was a friend of Lily Potter who agreed to look after Richard for a few days while Harry was sick, as Richard was a newborn and they didn't want to risk him getting ill as well, but then they die and the Greysons end up adopting Richard for real and raising him until Canon DC events occur. Shenanigans ensue that lead to Harry moving in with Bruce at 15 and Voldie is killed early.
My thought was, what if it was this, but with Maddie. So Maddy takes on Daniel, and a miscommunication occurs that leads to her believing Harry died with his parents. Due to her being a squib, she only tangentially knows about the wizarding world, and this is what fuels her desire to study ectobiology. She KNOWS they're real. She just has to prove it.
The only other person who knew about Danny was Peter, and due to some small sliver of loyalty, he never told anyone about him. Harry finds out in the Forbidden Forest when he's walking to his death as his parents tell him they can watch over Danny's life together or something, and sets off to America once he'd recovered after the battle.
Harry could be Master of Death and help Danny out with his ghost battles
Harry could set off all the ecto-alarms in the house, causing the boys to gaslight the Drs. Fenton into thinking that it's going off due to them being British born or due to magic
Danny could be a squib, which is what helped him survive the accident
Harry could arrive pre portal/ just after it happened
If Harry is 18, he might fight for custody of Danny, due to the house being unsafe for him to live there
Opportunity for billionaire vs billionaire showdown when Harry finds out what Vlad is doing to Danny
Danny could tell everyone Dani is a Potter and get her an official identity through the goblins, this could be how Harry finds out about Plasmius being Masters
For a bonus, if you want to add in the DC universe, John Constantine could be a squib relation thriving the Black family, or a relation through the Evans family. The older brother that Petunia pretended she didn't have
I just really don't have time to write this but it won't leave my head.

There’s something about the inevitability of Bruce Wayne becoming a father that gets me, of him finding love, balance and family in the faces of children who need him. Because Bruce never expected it. At eight, he probably wasn’t thinking of having a family but even that faraway notion was destroyed the night his parents died. He never seriously thought about dating while training and children even less so. That wasn’t the kind of man he was, not anymore.
That said, he was good with children, had deep empathy for the things they went through. In many ways, a young Batman was like a child himself. He saved lives, saved families night after night and he told himself it was enough. Until the circus, until the fall, until he met tear stained blue eyes across the tent and realized that only he could really help Richard Grayson.
It was a split second decision, one with all heart and emotion and not one lick of logic. In the days that follow, he’ll curse his soft nature. In the years that follows, he whispers thanks for the best decision of his life. It takes him a long, long time to consider himself Dick’s parent. First he was just a traumatized child, then a vaguely homicidal hindrance, then a confidant and partner. And pretty soon he’s fussing over his ward’s scraped knees and engaging studiously at parent-teacher conferences and teaching then shamelessly beatiing him at chess.
Friends and coworkers called him a father long before the title felt right on him, like a too large sweater he had to grow into. Because he had to grow up in order to care for Dick. He had to address something of his own traumas to help Dick with his. He had to learn and make mistakes and try again over and over. He had to admit he was wrong in so many words, he did need a partner as batman, he did need to be more involved as wayne, he did need love. One day, he looked at himself in the mirror, still a young man but one who has seen and done many ridiculous and incredible things. And one of those was being Dick’s father.
And every time, he thinks it’s the last! He thinks he has enough kids, enough of parenting reckless and amazing young children. And yet every time he’ll be confronted with a new child and he’ll open his heart and door once more. It boggles me that people think they can excise Robin and Bruce’s title as a mentor/father from him but it arguably the most quintessential part of his character. Bruce was dying before Dick, both in story and in his early comic sales. He was just a man in a suit beating other people up. Dick and the others gave him light to his life, light he didn’t think he deserved. It prevented him from going down a darker path.
Bruce is a dad, he will always be a dad. No matter how amazing and cool and important his children are, he still straightens their coats and tells them not to slouch. He tells bad jokes just to hear them groan and listens with genuine interest to their hobbies. From the moment Dick came home with him, Bruce Wayne found his own home. I’ve wandered off topic, shocking, but just. Bruce was always going to end up with a houseful of crazy children driving him mad and yet young 20 something Bruce never could have imagined it. But who he is as a person, what he does, he would never turn his back on a child in need and that is why the character endures.

Faultlines
(Dick reflects on their family while Jason makes post patrol smoothies.)
Dick sat at Jason’s island bench with his forehead on the counter and tuned out the conversation. He was sore, tired, and hungry. The bench shook with the staccato of Jason chopping things and throwing them into an open blender.
Bruce was speaking through a tinny phone speaker. Jason gave a report on their patrol with uncharacteristic restraint given Bruce’s demands and interruptions. He had only told him to go fuck himself the once.
‘I expect better of the both of you.’
Dick briefly considered sliding off the bar stool and laying on the nice cool floor. Better not, Jason would probably step on him. And he’d have to haul himself back up afterwards.
They probably should have gone back to the cave. Dick wasn’t injured but he was coming down with something, and Jason held himself carefully, protecting some bruising somewhere. The safe house had been closer and Bruce was having one of those nights. It was looking to be the start of one of those weeks.
‘Sorry B, can’t hear you,’ Jason said and scooped a cup of ice into the blender and turned it on.
Whatever Bruce said was lost to the deafening droning noise. The phone screen darkened a moment later as the call disconnected.
Dick lifted his head to rest his chin on the shaking bench.
Jason surveyed his domain with a scheming expression. Dick closed his aching eyes for a moment. When he reopened them there was a bunch of leafy spinach spinning in the blender on top of the banana and yogurt and Jason looked pleased with himself.
Dick sighed, dramatic and put upon. His little brother liked to feel like he was getting away with something. Dick was happy to let him have it. He didn’t need to know that he would have been making the exact same concoction if he were at his own apartment, only worse. He’d probably add some honey though.
Jason squirted honey into the blender.
Dick smiled gratefully. He got a tall chilled glass of smoothie placed in front of him for his troubles.
He pressed it to his forehead with a groan. ‘I love you.’
‘Yeah, yeah.’
Both their phones buzzed. He glanced down to see Bruce’s list of critiques and demands now in written form. He made a face.
‘Remember when he used to pretend he wasn’t an asshole?’ Jason muttered, dragging a hand down his face. ‘What broke you old man?’
You did, dick didn’t say. You broke him.
‘There’s nobody within parenting range,’ he did say, ‘he’s malfunctioning.’
Jason scoffed. ‘It’d be worse if someone was in range. Good thing the brat is with the Kents for the week. Where’s Tim and Duke?’
‘San Fran. They’re going to space tomorrow.’
Jason nodded and leaned a hip against the bench. ‘Good. Bruce will have calmed down by the time they’re back.’
‘I don’t know about Cass though, wasn’t she coming back from Hong Kong soon?’
Jason shook his head. ‘She’s staying another month. Alfred can handle him in the meantime.’
There was a vacuous slurping sound as Dick stirred his smoothy with a metal straw. He wondered if Jason knew it was because of him that Bruce needed handling.
It wasn’t his fault per say, and Dick couldn’t even blame him, but the man who raised them both died with Jason in Ethiopia. Only one of them ever came back.
Now Damian had a father who was cold.
Dick’s littlest brother (his son, a bone deep part of him whispered) didn’t know what it was to be loved without reservation.
Alright, maybe he blamed Jason a little.
He tucked his chin into his chest and focused on his drink. Shame curled inside him.
Bruce was a grown man, he could take responsibility for himself. It was a Robin’s instinct to cover for Batman. They weren’t Robins anymore.
Before Jason, Bruce would never have asked Dick to trick his entire family into thinking he was dead. It would have been an unspeakable and needless cruelty. Bruce was responsible for who he had become after Jason.
Funny. ‘After Jason’. They lived in a post-Jason world, Jason included. No wonder he didn’t really think he belonged, no matter how hard Dick tried to convince him otherwise. How do you live in a world that had already shut your book and opened the sequel?
He figured Jason would like that metaphor. He would never say it to him. He wasn’t going to become someone who added to the fault lines in the family.
He loved Jason. He did.
He drank his smoothie. Jason leaned against the bench, rubbed his temples, and let his eyes close.
They shared the silence.

MASTERLIST OF THE STORY
Chapter 37: Home bittersweet home.
She stood there, in the place she last stepped on. Confused, she started to look around the cliff. It was in the middle of nowhere. She wasn't sure, but she felt like it had happened. That she was back. Still, she needed to make sure.
Getting on a bus and telling the driver that she had lost all her money and cards, expecting him to take pity on her, which he did, she sat down and looked at her hands. They were shaking, so she tucked them in her pockets.
Once she reached more civilization, she decided to test her theory.
“Hi,” she said to a man in a newspaper stand. The man just gave a quick nod. “Do you have something about Marvel?”
“Many things girl, what would you like?” She gulped.
“A comic, please, any comic.”
The man looked at her strangely, but surely he wouldn't pass up an opportunity to sell his products. He grabbed the first comic of the pile and gave it to her. She looked at it.
“I am so sorry,” she said before beginning to run.
“Hey!” He called out. “Hey, come here you little shit!”
Once she was out of sight, she teleported to a park she knew all too well, where she sat down on the grass and began to flip through the pages.
She was back in her original universe, but she didn't remember how. She knew about Sigyn and the whole actually Asgardian thing, but she didn't remember much after she stormed into her room. She widened her eyes. Oh god, they would think she was kidnapped or worse… that she left them! They had no way of knowing where she was, or so she thought. She rubbed her temples and pinched the bridge of her nose. Everyone there was smart, even if the odds were not in her favor, they would come to the conclusion that she had gone back without intending to.
After a while of reading, she started to feel very tired, so she closed her eyes, just for five minutes.
                                               --------------------------
When she woke up, Y/N gasped. It was dark, probably the middle of the night. She must have been tired, she knew that the magic she used was very draining, especially when travelling that far.
She looked around. The park was empty, the streets were too, except for one car passing every few minutes. She yawned, she was still tired?
Rolling her eyes, she created a protective bubble around herself and went back to sleep.
                                                -----------------------------
Standing in front of her old house made her heart more rotten. She suddenly felt so angry, so ruined, so used by life. Not seeing that place and not being able to was great for avoidance, yet now that she couldn't avoid it anymore, she realized how much it still hurt, how much she had been avoiding it.
Walking around it, it was empty, as a graveyard at night. The life that house once had was gone. She felt like burning it to the ground. But she didn't, not yet. She still had hope, she still believed she would feel better one day; but it all depended on one thing, them finding her.

Falling in Reverse story line
(Part two)
Tim hadn't set out to be robin. That wasn't something that ever crossed his mind. He saw that Bruce was getting careless and taking way more injuries then he needed to, so he tried to get Bruce to make up with Damian. When that didn't work he started following Bruce. One night Bruce got shot pretty bad and Tim came to his rescue apply first aid and helping him get back to the cave. After Alfred took care of Bruce he immediately took the kid home and told him to stop. But Tim being Tim refused to listen and no matter how hard Bruce tried the kid always managed to sneek out. Eventually Bruce gave in and told Tim if he was going to going to be out on the field he would have to train. Tim became Robin to help watch Bruce's back
When Damian heard about someone else wearing his suit, he was furious, that was his title. He had created robin and Bruce had no right to give it away. Not to some little rich brat who never had to fight for anything in his life. It only got worse as Tim started hanging out around the manor. Bruce seemed to care about this kid so easily not like Damian who constantly had to prove him self. But with Tim it was like the kid could do no wrong in Bruce's eyes.
Damian couldn't stand the kid. The why he was always looking for praise and bending over backwards to please everyone. Bruce didn't think much of it at the time. Just assuming that's what normal 'none assassin' kids do.
After Tim's parents died Bruce took the kid in. It was only after living in the same house with him that Bruce started to realise how neglected the kid really was.
At first Tim and Damian where always fighting. Bruce feared walking into his house to find that one had killed the other but after a long and I stress the word long time they finally started getting somewhat along. They still argued a lot but no major injuries. They even started patrolling together making a completion of who could take at the most criminals. Damian would never admit it but he had grown to like the kid even if he could be exstreamly annoying. Everything was finally going Tim's way. He had a family and he got to be robin.
Tim was the Smart robin. He relied more on his wit then his fists, Joker used that agiasnt him. He gaslighted Tim making him rethink every step by messing with his cases.
Joker would hide pieces of evidence until Tim was done looking then lay them down in obvious places for someone else to find. He got crimals to confess to crimes they didn't commit and create fake clues that led no where. Tim was making mistakes and he couldn't handle it because he was suppose to be perfect, he had to be perfect or no one would want him. Joker preyed on Tim's insecurities, driving him to the edge.
Tim became paranoid and over worked himself trying to figure out what was going. Worried over Tims wellbeing Bruce benched him saying that he was unfit for field work. This was the straw that broke the camels back.
Tim was scared that Bruce would throw him away. Because if Tim couldn't be Robin then why keep him around? So he snuck into the cave and started looking over cases. One of the cases involved a girl. It was open and shut, a guy had confessed and even shown where the body was. Something about this seemed so off though the body had been so desecrated it was impossibly to identify. Why go through so much work if the guy was just going to turn himself in?
He realised that the girl was still alive and was able to track her down to a warehouse . Instead of going to Bruce with this news Tim decided to rescue the girl by himself. He couldn't risk being wrong again. Tim thought if he could find the girl if he could prove himself then Bruce wouldn't abandon him. When Tim heard the girls screams he went in without a second thought. The girl, she made it out, Tim didn't. Tim spent the last minutes of his life watching the timer on a bomb. A bomb he could have so easily defused if he body would just corporate with him. Worried about what he was going to say when Batman saved him then worried when he realised Bruce wasn't coming and maybe it was his fault. Tim Drake died a failure bringing shame to the Robin mantel. At least that's what he believed...

Movie Night II
"Who were these agents?" I asked, while stiring the soup. "HYDRA. An organization that likes to experiment with people or do other things that are not so nice." She replied looking a bit sad. "Can I ask you something?" I asked her. "sure" "Have you ever been to H.Y.D.R.A? You don't have to answer it, if- " I tried to explain. "It's okay, you need to know this. When I was in Sokovia there was a bomb in our house it was from Stark intustry it killed our parents. So my brother and I wanted to revenge us to him so we joined this organization and got our superpowers, but then the Avengers found us and made it clear that were on the wrong side." "You have a brother?" I asked with a smile. "Yes, his name was Pietro. When we fought Ultron, he had protected Clint and a child from bullets, so he run infront of them and took every second. " A tear ran down her cheek, so I went to her and hugged her tighly. She relaxed into the hug and I could feel the tears flowing into my shirt but I didnt care, I hugged her tighter.. After a while we moved away and I wiped her tears away with my thumb. I gave her a gentle smile which she gave me back and then turned back to the stove. "I'm sorry for your loss, but you have to see the good side of it. He has proven that he is a hero and died not because of something unnecessary, but because he protected others." "Your right." I smiled at her and set the dinning table. After a few minutes, Wanda put the food on the table and told J.A.R.V.I.S to let the others know that the meal was ready. After a while everyone came and sat at the table while I sat between Steve and Wanda and talked to them. After dinner we went to our room. I put on a white oversized t-shirt and black leggings, then I took my blanket and went back into the living room where Wanda, Clint and Natasha were there. "Will you sit next to me Y/N?" Asked Wanda. I sat down on the couch to the right of Wanda. I covered myself up and Wanda laid her head on my lap. Natasha was on another couch with Clint, we all talked until the others came along. Tony was sitting on a couch with Bruce while Steve and Bucky were sitting together. Thor sat on an armchair and so did Peter. "Clint decides which movie we watch today," Tony said. "Karate Kid." He replied. We watched the movie and I played with Wanda's hair alongside and when the first film was finished, Bruce decided which film to watch next. After the second film were half of the group already in bed. Peter sat next to me in the third film and put his head on my shoulder and fell asleep. And at the end of the last movie, I put Wanda gently on her side and lifted Peter up in brital style. "Where is Peter's room?" I whispered to Clint. "On the 7th floor the door in the middle." He answered. I brought Peter into his room and covered him up, then I made my way to Wanda on the couch and saw that she was already sleeping so I brought her to her room too. When I got back to the living room I saw that there were only Natasha and a sleeping Clint. I sat down on the couch that I was sitting on before and covered myself up again. "I'm not going to carry him up." I said and got a giggle from Natasha. At the end of the movie, Clint woke up and made his way to his room. Just before the elevator doors opened, he ran into the doors and groaned and put his hand on his forehead. Natasha and I laughed and Clint got into the elevator. "Do you want to watch another movie?" Asked Natasha. "With pleasure. But you choose. " Natasha started the next movie and half asleep in the movie. I giggled and turned off to sleep myself.
