do you know any interesting facts on ruby throated hummingbirds? Since they’re the only hummingbird types in some areas they can be seen as a bit basic by some
Absolutely! Ruby throated hummingbirds are gorgeous, and they're the only hummingbird native to my home state of Illinois.
Hummingbirds are among the smallest birds in the world, and Archilochus colubris is no exception; they weigh only 5 g (0.2 oz), which is less than a nickel! Between 25-30% of that weight is their pectoral muscles, which is what allows them to beat their wings rapidly-- 53 times per second! They can also travel great distances; each year they fly over 800 km (500 miles) from the American midwest to the Guly of Mexico where they stay for the winter.
Despite their small size, these hummingbirds have big appetites. Individuals have to consume half their body weight in sugar every day, and can eat over 1,000 insects to get some extra mid-air protein. All that sugar keeps their heart pumping at about 1,200 beats per minute.

Aegis of Red and White
We have obtained a sample of a virus from a researcher.
An activating agent is being created.
ink demonth - umbrella
Rated: G Warnings: None AO3 Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/57956284 Length: 500
Umbrella Corporation can not let this get out. We cannot have another virus scandal under our belts, even if this one is different from the… other mistakes.
Even if it was not synthesized by us.
But rather, found in one of our scientists.
It was a dormant thing, quiet and insidious, and that makes it all the more valuable.
We obtained this sample when the researcher had voluntarily submitted his DNA profile for the purposes of the corporation’s specialized lock system; as he is assigned to work in the secret space that the dangerous viruses and diseases that are studied. Of course, we would not like for those diseases to end up in the wrong hands, now, would we? Either way, in that sample, there were two anomalous patterns.
Tumblr media
One aligned with pure tardigrade DNA, which obviously does not fit a human, and the other was a peculiar form of RNA.
Now, as we are a bio-pharmaceutical company that specializes in virology, this was of particular interest to our C-Suite. So, we quietly assigned the researcher to the RNA virus strand found in his own system- without telling him where it was sourced, of course. He was one of those who believed that his contract said exactly what he was signing up for, that being medical research for preventing illnesses from spreading, and synthesizing viruses into beneficial things.
With J. Drew’s studying, it became apparent that the RNA was a dormant virus. What it did was yet to be discovered, as his current assignment is figuring out how to activate it.
We are confident in his ability to do so- he is one of our best virologists, right up there with L. Benton and T. Connor. If Benton and Connor would spend less time bickering and more time working together, then they may surpass Drew in their work- though, as it stands, he is the superior researcher. Not that we will tell him that. On his performance reports, we generally rate him lower than he actually is, as it is a strong motivator.
With the Umbrella Corporation’s ‘umbrella exchange’ program, we have partnered Drew with a H. Stein, of the Manhattan Beach free clinic. They appear to get on marvelously, and have a sort of rivalry similar to Connor and Benton, though this one promotes more research rather than reduces it.
Recently, the pair had discovered a breakthrough. An activating protein had been synthesized for the new pathogen.
Testing had been approved, and as of now, the disease, which turns liquids in the body to a substance not unlike ink, has proven an effective bioweapon.
Drew’s compliance likelihood levels have been dropping; therefore, human testing has been approved on patient 0. He is in the lab right now, and two agents with the activating protein, codenamed Scythe, have been dispatched.
We have just received notification that several viruses have been stolen from the lab.
Update: Drew has shut down the camera systems.
Patient 0 has escaped the building.
Dispatching Tyrant.

I'm starting the an edited abc diet! the pic above is the original abc diet.
Tumblr media
this one adds a 25% more of the original. it isn't a huge difference but i think it leaves room for more flexibility. i will still do my best to stay to the original calorie amount, the extra is mostly just in case somebody wants me to eat more. id rather eat 50 extra kcals for a day than 600 for a month.
anyways! rules for this.
2,000-8,000 steps per day. i don't have a fitbit so i have to manually count it, so i usually get extra because i always would be rather go lower than higher. 😭
2-3Liters of water.
beyond walks and running, workout 2 days a time for 20+ minutes 4 days a week. none on Wednesday or Thursday ( as both are really exhausting days so i usually burn enough calories for the equivalent of what i would for a the workouts ), and an extra day. any fasting days i don't have to workout or walk at all to make sure i dont go weak.
if there are any moments where you go above calorie limit, burn at least 2-3 times the amount you are over. e.g. 600 kals eaten on a 500 kal limit, burn 200-300 kals.
focus on high protein, minimal carbs, and average fat intake. also high fiber and whole foods in general.
i have a gluten intolerance so no gluten for me 👍
intermittent fasting, between 18 fasting hours and 6 eating hours, or 16 fasting hours and 8 eating hours, depending on the day.
I'm on my womb shedding week (yes I still have it :[) and that makes things wayyy harder because there's so many cravings. so i gave myself. luckily (hopefully) ill be finished soon.
most pictures will probably be in the morning lol. that's when i remember most.
Tumblr media
started eating at 12:30pm.
a rice cake with a tbps of garden vegetable cream cheese and two slices of roast beef cuz i ran out of turkey, and a cup of green tea.

I have unlocked another successful recipe! 🥳
It always makes me feel so accomplished when I try a new recipe and its tasty :D
It was a kind of a vegan pyttipannu, which means sauteeing some boiled cubed potato, slices of sausage, and cauliflower florets with onion. The special thing that made it different from any pyttipannu I've ever had was that it was seasoned with arrabbiata pesto.
Heck, I'll share the recipe under the cut, and the only vegan/nonvegan element is the sausage, so you can just use whichever kind you normally would.
Pyttipannu for two
Ingredience
2 fist size potatoes
Four sausages, total 240 g (I have never in my life used raw sausage, so I don't know how those are handled. Do what you gotta do to make them edible if using.)
About 225 g of frozen cauliflower (or fresh if you are passionate about chopping vegetables)
1 onion (or 1 onion's worth of frozen onion bits)
Oil for sauteeing
About 1 tablespoon of arrabbiata pesto, or more if you really like the taste/the heat.
Sprinkling of dried basil (or fresh if you do fresh herbs)
Optional: lemon juice
Prep
Boil potatoes with the skin on, peel and cube. The best way is to boil them the previous day, refridgerate over night, and then peel and chop them on the day of cooking. Mealy potatoes are not ideal here, use firm ones if you have a choice.
Thaw cauliflower! If you put it in the skillet direct from frozen there will be a lot of liquid that will make the cauliflower mushy! Best way to thaw is to put the frozen cauliflower in the fridge the day before. But it is possible to use a microwave or a steamer to thaw. Web search how. If using fresh, cut it up and take note that you will need to sautee it longer than if it were thawed.
Cut the sausages into slices. Cut a bit diagonally to get more surface, because that way it'll have more area for flavour. I don't know whether raw sausage can be cut before being cooked; you know your path so do what you gotta do.
If using a fresh onion, chop it up to bits. Frozen onion can go on the skillet direct from frozen.
The Steps
Sautee the sausages on a skillet until they have browned. If you are using raw sausage, cook them enough to make them safe to eat. Set aside.
Heat oil and add the onion and cauliflower. After a while add the potatoes. Sautee until potatoes and cauliflowers get browned a bit, that's the good stuff.
Reintroduce the sausages. Add the arrabbiata. Mix it all up until well combined.
Sprinkle with basil, and lemon juice if using.
Shortcuts
I know Finland sells frozen nonvegan pyttipannu mix so you can probably just use that and skip the potato and sausage steps. Same with if you have access to frozen cubed potato, that will probably be fine here.
Nutrition
The vegan plate model is 1/3 protein, 1/3 carb, 1/3 vegetable. This dish conforms to that model.
The recommended daily minimum amount of fruit and vegetables for all diets is 500 grams, preferably divided into at least 5 different kinds (so like, don't eat 500 grams of cauliflower, that's not how it works). This dish has basically one portion of cauliflower per eater.
Remember to supplement a vegan or majority-vegan diet with
B-12 vitamin (25-100 µg a day)
D-vitamin (10-50 µg a day depending on where you are on the planet and what your skintone is, do not exceed 100 µg a day)
iodine (150 µg a day, do not exceed 600 µg a day)

90 to 100 g of protein
Don't care about the steps as long as I burn 500 cals
+ 3 training days (Abs, Arms, Legs)
+ 3 Mobility workouts
+ PE once a week
THAT MEANS I WILL EAT IN TOTAL AROUND 21210 cals
AND BURN 28110, THAT'S AROUND 7000 CALORIES DEFICIT SO 1 KG DOWN

Today is the very first day back on my 48 hour fast 500 cal break. I saw great progress on it when i did it last month for nearly two straight weeks so we will see how it treats me thru the rest of the month. Thankfully my mother is also anorexic as fuck anbd my dad has diabetes he is controlling so neither of them eat and will not notice shit about me with how busy they are.
Plus that also means endless streams of protein shakes and shit which help me thru these long fasts like a charm and help boost my energy.
I cant drink energy drinks anymore bc they cause absolute havoc on my GERD so hopefully i can get my mother to buy matcha. love matcha lattes, they kill my appetite on first sip, and they actually give me energy unlie coffee or energy drinks which just fulfill my caffiene addiction needs.
Currently on hour 11.5 for 48 so fingers crossed.
also trying to bribe one of my siblings to let me steal their ps2 bc i hate working out unless its ddr and i can do that shit for HOURS and burn like 400+ calories like nothin'.

【  𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐘 𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄  】december 3rd , 2023
【  𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄  】23 : 48
The key to building immunity within the human body relies on the immune system’s ability to recognize pathogens and ultimately use natural defenses to ensure that further infection doesn’t incapacitate the body. B-cells and T-cells, the core of the immune system, rely on creating antibodies (B-cells) and regulating the body’s response to infection (T-cells) and it is the theory of bolstering B-cells with the ability to create antibodies against specific pathogens in order to protect against future infection that acts as the basis behind modern-day vaccination and inoculation practices.
While bacteria, as living organisms, prove to be an easier organism to create vaccines against, viruses prove to be a deeper conundrum due to the short life-cycle, lack of independent life, and ability to rapidly mutate at rates too high for research to keep up with. Herd immunity is known to be the best way to keep a population safe in the face of a public health crisis–but when the culprit behind an epidemic or pandemic is a virus mutated so far beyond the understanding of modern-day science, how will widespread immunity be established to ensure further infection and casualties?
When studying the newly-discovered highly-virulent and mutated strain of the Rhabdoviridae rabies virus, it becomes disturbingly apparent that herd immunity is something that will be impossible to achieve even at the most optimistic level. Strain Gamma B.06.13 (henceforth, will be referred to as the Gamma virus for the remainder of this text for simplicity’s sake) includes over 200 mutations within the 500 amino-acid chain of the mature glycoprotein, including deletions, replacements, and additions.  Such mutations have caused a triple expression in the glycoprotein genes, causing the spikes used by the mature virus to be nearly nine times as likely to invade host organism cells as opposed to its originally-studied strain. With a 900% increase in the expression of glycoproteins, the Gamma virus is able to facilitate invasion of the cell through the endocytic pathway almost instantly upon entering the host’s system.
The Gamma strain–much like its parent virus–is a versatile virus that can attach to any form of the gp96 glycoprotein–a gene expressed in mammalian organisms in high levels. Due to the necessity of the gp96 protein for the rhabdovirus family to latch onto host cell surfaces to initiate the infectious process, it can be deduced that cells that have lower expression of gp96 proteins are less likely to be compatible with the spike proteins of the Gamma strain–regardless of the density of the G-glycoprotein genes.
While sample size has been limited, current research indicates that despite the highly-virulent nature of the Gamma strain and the 100% fatality rate upon active infection, certain individuals express complete resistance to infection. The conundrum remains–how does a virus engineered specifically for complete and total infection with no chance of recovery prove to be completely futile against a select group of individuals?
The answer comes in a two-pronged approach. The first leg of the theory hinges on the theory that the host has built up enough memory T-cells to modulate the body’s reaction to the virus, preventing expression of symptoms, as well as antibodies created by B-cells that actively kill the virus before it is able to infect healthy host cells. In order for B-cells to have created antibodies and for long-acting killer T-cells to maintain recognition against the pathogen, the host should, theoretically, have been exposed to the virus before. It is a well known fact that much of the American population has no had a rabies inoculation in the past, so the idea of a vaccine or previous exposure is ruled out. However, the second prong of the immunity theory stems from the fact that a lack of expression in gp96 glycoprotein prevents effective infection by the Gamma strain.
The theory I propose to marry both prongs into one is this: those who express innate immunity to the Gamma strain are individuals who have a genetic predisposition to express lower levels of the glycoprotein required for the Gamma strain–and other variants of the rhabdoviridae family–to effectively penetrate the host’s cell membranes. Due to its lack of expression, any form of exposure to the virus will allow the host’s B-cells to then form antibodies when exposed to the virus.
Blood and lymph samples as well as saliva samples collected from those proven to be considered immune have yielded results consistent with this theory. Blood assays revealed that those considered immune expressed drastically lower levels of the gp96 glycoprotein as well as positive values for antibodies consistent with the spike-protein expression on the surface of the Gamma strain virus’ membrane. However, certain samples hydrolyzed and deteriorated slowly over the incubation period–and soon, after a certain amount of time elapsed, the antibodies were overpowered by the exposure to the Gamma strain and were then killed via self-induced apoptosis. This implies that some individuals who test as immunity-positive may, ultimately, run out of defenses and ultimately succumb to the virus after their short-lived immunity wanes.
While this theory holds for the time being, it begs the question: how are those who have had no previous exposure to the virus in ground zero showing immunity? Are certain individuals born with antibodies against the virus? Is exposure in previous generations a potential factor for innate immunity? The sample sizes of current clinical trials is still too small to accurately deduce whether immunity against the Gamma strain is prevalent in populations that have yet to be exposed to the Gamma strain.
With this in mind, I hope to better study individuals with varying exposure to the virus and potentially harvest samples to run antigen testing as well as glycoprotein sequencing to see how strong the correlation between incidence with exposure is to potential immunity. If I can accurately and precisely extrapolate what allows one to be fully immune to the virus even with prolonged exposure over time, then I will be one step closer to potentially theorizing a cure or prophylactic measure to prevent further dissemination of the biohazard.

Soma Soma Soma Soma! Look what I made you for your daily dose of sugar!
Tumblr media
Hi Kukki!
As a doctor, I need to inform you that the maximum recommended daily amount of sugar is about 30 g for adults – which works out at just seven teaspoons a day. Judging by the consistency of the cookies you are showing me, I believe the sugar quantity in them could easily amount to two, even more. I believe that, even if you are not a medical professional, you do know what Diabetes is, right? And how dangerous it can be for humans. Right now, in the world, over 500 million people live with it.
I am of the opinion that if you don't stop mass-producing cookies right now, the whole beach will end up with that disease. And, as you might have heard, diabetes leads to damage in the kidneys (renal insufficiency, for example), retinopathy, neuropathy, ulcers...
Therefore, please. PLEASE. Stop making cookies. What about cooking some nice steamed vegetables with rice? Some protein? Without salt, of course, because that'd lead to us having hypertension. Or, as we, doctors, like to call it...
The silent death.

MEALSPO!
what i eat in a day :)
Breakfast-> 20 g of oats, water, some coconut flakes, vanilla protein powder and almonds (rafaello oats) (im unsure of the calories since my parents made it, bjt im pretty sure it can be low calorie)
Lunch-> roasted veggies (cauliflower, brocolli, todu and mushrooms) estimated: around 70-120 calories
Dinner-> protein yoghurt, protein powder and half an apple estimated: 115 calories :)
≈ 500? cal
Sorry for estimating my calories guys, i can't mesure anything since my parents are lately suspicious of me..
(lil tips)
If you didnt eat okay, thats great! Butt if you do eat 3 low cal meals in a day(possibly high protein) you'll loose weight faster, and your parents wont be as suspicious of you.. :) Also make sure to eat in front of people, im scared of doing that, but i do it so they dont force me to eat later!!
im proud of you for loosing weight <3
(please someone give me tips how to š
preciselly mesure my food without a food scale 😭)

TB 500 is a synthetic peptide of a protein that all humans have in their bodies. The natural protein occurs in cells and is called Thymosin Beta 4. This protein may have healing properties. Some have noted that they get more strength when using TB 500 because it increases muscle growth. TB-500 may stimulate tissue repair and regeneration by promoting the growth of new blood vessels and encouraging the formation of new tissues.
TB 500 and TB-4 interact with actin, a key protein involved in cell structure and movement. TB500 binds to actin monomers and promotes the polymerization of G-actin into F-actin, leading to the formation of actin filaments.
Seven Benefits of TB-500
1. Tissue repair and regeneration.
2. Accelerated healing of injuries.
3. Reduction of inflammation.
4. Joint and connective tissue health.
5. Enhanced muscle growth and recovery.
6. Improved hair growth.
7. Cardiovascular health.
TB 500 Research findings offer useful insights into the safe and effective dosage of TB-500, as follows: TB-500
1. Dosage: 2mg TB-500, administered once a day via subcutaneous injection
2. Course Duration: 15 days
Notes: This protocol calls for three TB-500 10mg vials for a single research subject per 15-day course. A lower maintenance dosage of 1mg daily may be applied until full or near-full recovery.

just had some pasta for dinner (500 cal) and having food in my stomach makes me want to eat more. I've had enough caffeine and nicotine plus enough protein this morning (50+g) that I wasn't even hungry, I just ate it because I felt like I should before going to get some scales and off to an NA meeting. I wish I didn't and just had it later... its weird tho, having food in my stomach like this and having a pint of water makes me want to binge. Its like feeling full makes me want to feel REALLY full. Ig that's just how I normally eat and drink. Time to break the habit ig...
