Sam is fucking done.
She moved to Gotham because fucking obviously she would. It even has the name "Goth" in it. She loves it, it's a crazy place; not as crazy as Amity, but crazy enough to stave off the homesickness.
She's actually met Ivy, and very nearly embarrassed herself asking for an autograph.
She loves Gotham.
It feels like she was always meant to be there; she's not out of place, she's not too violent for them, her grave humor is appreciated and her coworkers say she's the funniest person in office.
But there was one aspect of Gotham she was done with.
The fucking Bats landing on the fucking roof of her penthouse at three in the morning to chat. They stomped around, their voices kept waking her up (thanks liminally enhanced hearing!), and worst of all; they chipped one of the gargoyles that stood over her bedroom window with a grappling hook.
So she resorted to petty revenge. She voluntarily lost sleep to do it.
She hid on her own roof, and snapped pictures of the Bats nonstop. Of Batman specifically, since he'd started the whole vigilante thing with them and it was entirely his fault.
Then, she photoshopped the ears off of Batman's costume.
She posted them on a blog she forced Tucker to make her (secured, isolated, untraceable), wiped the metadata with a program also from Tucker, and uploaded them. Every night.
It gets addicting.
Soon, she's made it a hobby. She stays out and stalks the Big Bad Bat, taking unflattering photos of him and removing the ears in Photoshop, and posting them on the now very popular blog.
It comes to a head one night when Batman is being forced to choose between two of the Bats, the blue one and the short red one, and he's clearly actually distraught at the choice.
Fuck.
She's gonna have to get involved.

Mixed bats AU
Okay listen. Batfamily but their sequence and ages are mixed up.
So bruce wayne find a young man trying to steal his tires and he takes the boy in as his own. Jason todd then ends up calling himself batlad. He then later on becomes nightwing and moves to bludheaven.
Bruce is then introduced to his biological kid. Damian wayne. Who ends up becoming batlad 2.0. But gets kidnapped and beaten to death by the joker. Brought back to life by his mother talia. He ends up becoming the head of league of assasins for a while and then after making things right with his father, becomes red hood. A sorta anti-hero.
Bruce wayne then finds a young dick grayson, who ends up not being batlad but instead chooses the name Robin.
Bruce wayne then dies (not really), damian ends up becoming batman. Dick ends up not taking the death well rage quits and becomes Jason's partner flamebird.
Damian then finds a smart tim drake that ends up becoming his batlad.
Dick later on passes the robin name to Stephen brown. To make her feel worthy and now she is the current robin.
Bruce returns from the death and takes the crowl back.
So now it is like this.
Bruce - batman
Jason- batlad #1 , nightwing
Damian - batlad #2 , red hood , batman and then red hood again.
Dick - robin #1 , flamebird
Tim - batlad #3
Steph - spoiler , robin #2.
Just a crack Universe.

I think it’s time to revisit the reverse robins AU. Namely, it’s time to address Damian. Only to address Damian, first we have to talk about Knightfall. I promise this’ll tie back in.
So Batman: Knightfall. The key thing about Knightfall in this AU is the fact that Jason and Tim are two different people. Tim bought into Batman and Robin as an idea, Jason stumbled into becoming Robin and may or may not be blackmailing Batman. He really isn’t sure anymore. Regardless, when Bruce rolls up and is like ‘hey, I found this ex-brainwashed assassin, could you show him the ropes’, Jason is like ‘no wtf, that’s not my job’. And then we’ve got the Bane-gauntlet, back-breaking etc etc.
Rather than accept that Bruce is going to make him work with random ex-brainwashed assassin dude (and seriously, Bruce, this is not what he signed up for), Jason gives Steph a call and is like ‘hey, you said that I could ask you for help if I needed it. Can you talk some sense into Bruce, he’s being an idiot?’ and Steph, who is in the middle of the Titans imploding is like ‘yeah, why not’. Basically we just skip Knightquest and Knightsend and go straight to prodigal. (Idk how Bruce gets his back magi-cured, it’s not important). Steph is not Batman. For one thing, Bruce has about a foot and least a hundred pounds on her, for another, why should she have to pretend to be a dude to kick ass? Steph is the first Batwoman and her and Jason kick ass together and take on Bane and just have a rocking good time while Bruce is doing who know’s what.
But back to Damian. Damian gets to stay the same in this AU.
Let’s recap where we left off: Stephanie Brown is operating as the Spoiler, primarily in Gotham, and working with the Titans as her side-gig. Tim Drake just came back as the Joker 2.0 and is living it up in his villain era. Jason’s mom died due to long-term health problems and he was adopted by Bruce. Dick recently got de-talonized and is now running around as Nightwing. Which means it’s not time for Bruce’s surprise kid with Talia to show up. He does his thing and oh no, Bruce just died.
So look, Steph is trying to hold things together. She’s trying to hold Gotham together, she’s trying to look after Bruce’s legacy (because for all that their relationship was rocky, she did love and respect him), she’s trying to look after Bruce’s kid. She fumbled things with Jason during the whole mess that went down and now he’s off, convinced that Bruce is still alive out there and, hmmm, let’s say he took Barbara Gordon, fresh off of her widely-hated evil-arc, with him, because I think it would be fun.
So now Steph is Batman and it’s different from the last time she wore the Bat. Last time Bruce was still alive, last time she was doing it on her terms. But now, Bruce is dead and she’s pretending that she’s actually him and he isn’t and she’s isn’t sure if anyone believes it, but it feels important, okay?
Ummm, I’m running out of juice here. Anyway, Damian is Steph’s Batkid first and she teaches him to drink respect-women juice and gets him to stop killing as much and relax and be a kid a little more. And he also hangs out with Nightwing who’s like the cool, chill older brother and he insults Nightwing’s fashion taste (because it’s the discowing suit) and Nightwing teases him right back (because Steph said that the pink was traditional and he wasn’t getting out of it) and the get along and it’s great :)

What is everyone's groupchat/text chat name? Like how Hal is Ring Ring Motherfucker etc etc
Tbh the list grows every day, but here’s what I have as of right now (as a side note—in the early chat posts all the batkids had just their usual vigilante names, so some of the ones I’m about to list might not be in a post yet):
Roy/Arsenal -> Arse/Arse ~ It just fits him so well it had to be used twice
Harley Quinn -> Aunty Harls ~ Bruce does not approve.
Bruce/Batman -> B/Batman ~ He refuses to participate
Barbara/Oracle-> Barbie/Know-it-All ~ She’s the mastermind behind all this and makes sure that Bruce keeps all the contact names.
Clark/Superman -> Smallville/Big Blue ~ His names were chosen by Lois and Dick.
Damian/Robin -> Demon/Blood Son ~ Jason voted to call him lollipop guild, Damian violently refused.
Cassandra/Black Bat -> Caassssssss/Silent but Cuddly ~ Her original Vigilante nickname was Snëki snäkē, but the new one is more fitting.
Pamela Isley/Poison Ivy -> CLIMATE CHANGE IS REAL ~ She picked this, but Harley will probably give her a new one soon.
Selina/Catwoman -> Crazy Cat Lady/Kitty kitty ~ I’m probably gonna change hers soon but idk what to yet.
Dick/Nightwing -> Dickhead/The Good, the bad, and the booty ~ His vigilante name was v recently changed from Flippy Boi.
Constantine -> Gutter Mage ~ He has canonically been called this, also his recent increase in appearances is due to me reading a lot of the old hellblazer comics (they can be a bit problematic at points but some are surprisingly relevant to current events in the US)
Diana/Wonder Woman -> Prince(ss)/Jason’s favorite ~ She’s a proud aunt who adores Jason.
Jason/Red Hood -> Jaybird/Pew pew ~ He likes to mock Bruce by saying ‘I am Pew pew’ in a Batman voice.
Kon/Superboy -> Konkonkon/Token Punk ~ When Constantine saw Token Punk he asked Kon about it and they ended up bonding over punk music.
J’onn/Martian Manhunter -> TBD/Lean Green Fighting Machine ~ I don’t often think of him interacting with everyone as a civilian so he might not get a civvie name.
Barry/Flash -> TBD/Lightning McQueen ~ I’ll probably have a civilian name for him soon, just hasn’t come up yet.
Killer Croc -> Monch and Cronch ~ Don’t ask me why/How Waylon has a phone.
Oliver/Green Arrow -> Olly Olly Oxen Free/The Other Green One ~ He was a little bitter about his civilian name but Babs won’t let him change it (she is the keeper of names).
Duke/Signal -> Pretty Pretty Shiny Shiny/The Duke ~ Apollo might change his name soon. Ik they haven’t interacted in comics (at least not that I know of) but I like to imagine Andrew (Apollo) is to Duke as Diana is to Jason.
Steph/Batgirl -> Stephers/Pörple people eater ~ I always forget that I was reading her batgirl arc when I first added her so I made her batgirl instead of spoiler, Ik this lines up better but i do prefer the traditional spoiler Costume.
Riddler -> Riddle Me this, Why am I Here?? ~ He doesn’t understand why he is in their contact list.
Hal/Green Lantern -> TBD/Ring Ring Motherfucker ~ He hasn't entered civilian conversation yet, but maybe soon.
Dinah/Black Canary -> TBD/Scream Queen ~ Right now her civilian contact is Scream Queen, but I'm gonna switch that around and use something else for her civilian name
Billy/Captain Marvel -> TBD/Sparky Sparky Boom Man ~ Billy still thinks no one knows who he is. He is wrong.
Damian's Bestest Friend/Superboy 2.9 ~ The first one was just to annoy Damian. The other was supposed to be Superboy 2.0 but he messed up and now Barbara won't let him take it back.
Wally/Kid Flash -> Walls/The Real Speedy ~ Roy does not find this amusing.
Tim/Red Robin -> Timber/Yum ~ Now if Tim ever passes out they yell Timber, he is not amused.
Zatanna -> Witchy Woman ~ She's the only reason John joined the group chat. She's also the only reason why he no longer has a flip phone. He now has a Blackberry Curve.
Right now that's all of them. I am going to add Boston Brand, no clue how or why he'll have a phone, I just like him and want him to be along for the ride. His name will probably be something like "I GOTTA PHONE" or "Ghosts Have Rights Too". I'm definitely gonna add others (Midnighter and Apollo, my favs) just don't know who or when yet. But if there's anyone you rlly wanna see just lmk and I'll see what I can do :)

Awesomest of Them All 2.0
Part 13 of 13
Word Count: 1607
Batman x Batmom!Reader
You know what the bat family needs? Someone to pull them together and give them all the love they deserve. Who better to do that than you? An author rising to stardom in Gotham who catches the eye of a billionaire with your standoffish attitude at a huge social gathering. You are yourself and never pretend to be more or less than that. Plus you're the most stubborn person in the world, refusing to let good things go without reason.
This is a rewrite of my story Awesomest of Them All, I wanted to see how much I've improved over 3 years.
Bruce got a call, one that he had never gotten before even if he had always dreaded it. A phone call during a Wayne Enterprises meeting from someone demanding money and sending a picture of you tied to a chair. You had that normal fire in your eyes in the picture and it was obvious you weren't hurt but still no one wants their wife held hostage and threatened with a gun or worse.
Tim looks over Bruce's shoulder at the photo on the phone screen. His heart leaps to his throat and he pulls out his phone, already working on figuring out where it is you are located from the little he can see in the picture. He and Bruce were here in a meeting it would only make sense to call the GCPD and not run out the door to get you to safety. Tim knows Bruce though, always thinking everything through except for when it came to you. He would do anything in the world to keep you happy and safe.
Tim's hand coming to rest on Bruce's upper arm pulls him back to the reality that is that he cannot run out the door to your rescue. "You call Alfred, I'll call the GCPD," that's all he says and that's all it takes to set things in motion.
Two phone calls are made and those lead to two more made by Alfred and Damian who he had just picked up from school. Alfred calls Jason and Damian calls Dick, they are the only ones who get notified in the moment to go get you but it's enough.
Cass is on a date with Steph, they're the next to get a phone call from Tim, just informing them of the situation but making it clear that they are not needed at the scene. Stephanie protests this and tries to claim that you'd need Spoiler's help as well. You were as much of a mother to her and Cass as any of the boys even if only Cass was officially adopted. In the end the two girls go to the Mansion to wait with Alfred and coordinate things from the cave with Babs who is there upon their arrival.
Damian liked to think he still disliked you and could barely tolerate you. But even if he wouldn't admit it he was more scared on your behalf than he had ever thought he'd be. Despite him being horribly rude to you, you had never been anything but nice even if your nice included sarcastic comments to prove your point. You had helped him learn what a family was supposed to be like.
Jason gets a call from Alfred and he is changed and out the door of his apartment before the call is over. You were his Ma and he was your Jaybear, and he wouldn't be letting you get hurt. Alfred was the one person you had given his phone number too even though he had told you to keep it a secret, but in this moment he was glad you had.
This leaves Dick, who had gotten a call from Damian, telling him the situation and that he would be joining him at the warehouse. Dick was with Babs at the mansion so the two head to the cave where Barbara takes over in the computer while Dick changes and hurries out the door to go get you.
Things seem like they're going smooth when the three boys arrive one shortly after the other. Jason is already in and picking off the men in the surrounding area and getting you out of the chair when Dick and Dami burst in and start taking out more guys. You're safe and that's all that matters to any of them.
But then there's that singular gunshot and all three of their hearts skip a beat. Damian sees you slide the rest of the way into the next room but the other two just see the door swing closed behind you. None of them know where you had been hit and if you were okay on the other side of that door. But they can't walk away from the fight in the middle of it. Once all the men are down Jason takes off too you, not giving Damian or Dick the chance and leaving them to tie the guys up.
"Mama?" Jason asks, slipping into old habits in his fear.
"Hey Jaybear, I'm fine, it's just my leg," you comfort him quickly but let him take care of your leg for you. You'll have to go to the hospital as it's the only proper thing to do but he stops the bleeding and gives you a tight hug.
The other two boys come in and you smile and comfort them, telling them all how proud of them you are. This gets interrupted by police sirens outside. You quickly shoo them away and let Bruce know you're safe, knowing your husband would want to come after you himself at this point but you were fine. You needed to let the police take you to the hospital and make all of this look somewhat normal and not like a family problem.
You spend a few hours at the hospital, getting stitches and a brace since the bullet had ripped through your muscles, leaving your leg weak. When they let you go they push you out in a wheelchair and give you a pair of crutches.
Media personnel try to crowd you and get answers for their many questions. You shut them up with one of your classic, "I'm fine now leave me alone to be with my family or you will start your own newspaper to post stories about them and slowly put them out of business." It was a good threat that worked every time. If it didn't work then you just added in the idea of getting photos of their butts to add to the articles, titling it "the asses of Gotham"
You choose to spend the early evening watching movies on the couch with your family. Cass and Steph take their own chair to cuddle in, same with Dick and Babs. This leaves you to cuddle with Bruce and Tim and surprisingly Damian sits next to you, kicking Tim out of his normal spot meaning you had no choice but to sit in Bruce's lap so the boys can both sit next to you.
Alfred wished you well upon your arrival home, then returned to make dinner for all of you even if you tried to tell him to just order pizza. "No, miss Wayne, you were shot today and need a healthy meal," he responds much to your annoyance with him calling you miss, as though you were a child and your parent had called you by both your first and middle name.
All of you aren't far into the movie when you get interrupted by Jason entering the family room. You light up at the sight of him and before Bruce can stop you you're out of his lap and over Jason wrapping him in a hug. How you made it that far without falling due to torn ligaments no one knew but you were now in Jason's arms and he could keep you steady. You make him lean over so you can kiss his forehead before you make him come sit on the couch where you had been.
When he tries to object you give him that stern mom look and he obediently comes and sits next to you, and Damian on the opposite end of the couch from Bruce. Things definitely were tense between the two but you don't care, it's a start.
You finally have your whole family back under one roof for the moment. Your four boys, one girl and two unofficial girls. You loved every single one of them so much and were so glad that you were all together again. They all knew how much you loved them, and how you took time for each of them, the only reason Jason was getting extra attention was because he had been gone for so long.
It had hurt so very much when he had suddenly been taken from you. The pain of loosing a child wasn't anything you plus bear even if you had had too for years. You all share a nice dinner together then because you had all spent so much time together Bruce insisted that the city would be fine for the night with just the kids and that he needed to stay and make sure you were taken care of.
For the first time in a long time things were relatively peaceful for your family, even if you had a leg wound. You had them all together and would now be able to work with Jason and Bruce on their relationship and getting it back to a less tense father son relationship. Damian was finally truly giving you a chance. Dick was on good terms with Bruce, and he was happy with Babs, even talking about marriage in the future. Tim was helping Bruce run the company and he was brilliant at it, plus he seemed truly happy for the first time in his life as he had recently started officially dating Conner. This just left Steph and Cass who were about to graduate high school and were looking at apartments, planning to move in together despite almost already doing so since Stephanie always seemed to be at the manor. It wasn't a typical life but you wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.
The End... idk

imo (these are all my opinions only) red hood!steph would have different motivations and different methods of going about stuff then red hood!jason does.
1) for one, stephanie’s humor is different then jason’s, even when it’s scathing and bitter. jason’s is more dry all the time for one thing.
2) second, stephanie wouldn’t be trying to purposely attract the attention of the bats as much nor would she be going after bruce as much. she would still go sfter bruce, but it would be an occasional side hobby that is firmly separate from her red hood life. pre her death she was very aware of the difference in skill set between her and the other bats, and she’d probably be more so post her death. her two main goals would be to help kids like her out of their bad situations, and to gain respect from the superhero world, since before her death so many people spent time doubting her.
3) i don’t think stephanie would go after any of the batfamily other then bruce, and damian (depending on how much of a dick he was when she was alive), and maybe possibly cassandra if she was in a bad enough mood and in a bout of pit rage, and that would be in the moment, knowing cass could take it, for interfering with her job.
being friends and having seen how upset tim was over having to quit being robin, and still having become robin herself, steph would be a hypocrite for going after robin for “replacing” her, especially if tim was the robin in question. she also seems more the type to mess with people she hates more directly instead of hurting other people to get at them, and with jason and the many similarities she shares with him, she’d see herself too much in him to even contemplate hurting him without feeling like she’s become Cluemaster 2.0
she also wouldn’t be trying to prove that there shouldn’t have been any robins after her given that people trying to push her out of the field and keeping her in the dark instead of giving her the tools and support system to be safe while fighting crime is a big chunk of what got her killed
i can see her getting irrationally angry at tim for being able to move on and be robin again even after her death but she’d only get as far as kidnapping him before she realizes she can’t bring herself to hurt him while he’s defenseless while having done nothing objectively wrong to merit it, before she leaves him alone and calls someone to get him

Make A Scene
AMHL – Masterlist
Tumblr media
Dick immediately noticed when Y/N started getting quieter and quieter as they got closer and closer to the venue.
Bruce had hired a driver to pick them up from their apartment in Gotham. And the car had gone quiet now.
Dick reached over to gently hold her hand.
“Nervous?” He asked.
Y/N shrugged, not really seeing the point in trying to lie to her boyfriend.
“This isn’t your first rodeo, ya know.”
She gave him a look. “You know that wasn’t the same.” Her eyes flickered to the driver. “I wasn’t exactly…myself. And I wasn’t your girlfriend.”
Also, tonight they didn’t have the security and comfort of being at Wayne Manor.
No, instead this particular event was being held at the ballroom of Gotham’s most extravagant five-star hotel. It was a party for Wayne Enterprises, not a personal charity or party of the Wayne family.
Bruce had kindly asked Dick and Y/N to attend when board members and business partners started asking if the whole family would be attending. Jason hadn’t answered anyone’s calls or texts about it. None of them expected him to show up. Tim had to attend since he worked for Wayne Enterprises. And Damian…Well, Damian was his father’s son and not yet an adult. He basically had to do whatever Bruce asked of him while he lived under his roof.
“I’m not gonna leave your side,” Dick promised.
He squeezed her hand to further emphasize it.
Their car pulled up to the carpet at the bottom of the stairs.
There had to be a hundred journalists and photographers, along with random civilians who had nothing better to do than to see Gotham’s elite get out of cars and walk into a hotel.
Dick took in a deep breath.
Thankfully the car’s windows were tinted and protected them from any onlookers.
“Ready?” He asked her.
She nodded.
Dick opened the door and ignored the screams and flashes as he carefully helped Y/N out of the car with his offered hand. He also shielded her from the photographers to give her a moment to get out and adjust herself before they could capture any photos of her.
“Mr. Grayson! Mr. Grayson! Who is your mystery girlfriend?” Someone yelled.
Sometimes Y/N forgot that Dick was somewhat of a celebrity in Gotham City through association.
It wasn’t like people were asking for selfies everywhere he went. Or that the paparazzi were following his every move.
But in Gotham, people took note of where Dick Grayson went and who he was with.
And everyone noticed he’d had the same woman on his arm for quite some time now.
Even though Y/N and Dick had been dating for over a year, the media still couldn’t figure out Y/N’s identity.
What they didn’t realize was that she controlled every single piece of information about herself that lived on the internet.
They didn’t stand a chance.
Dick smiled and waved at people who called his name. But his hand other hand never left Y/N’s as he helped her up the stairs.
“Who are you wearing?” A female journalist yelled at Y/N.
She ignored them and focused on getting up the stairs without tripping and face planting. Not that Dick would ever let that happen.
However, she knew her outfit was going to draw gazes.
Y/N had made a promise to herself that if she was going to be forced to attend events like this with Dick, then she was going make a statement. People were already going to be staring at her, so she figured she might as well give them something good to stare at.
Instead of wearing a typical cocktail and formal dress, Y/N wore a full men’s suit that was tailored to perfection, but with the bowtie undone. It was what the fashion magazines would describe as “androgynous” in the press tomorrow morning.
Y/N wanted to control her own narrative. And she’d rather be judged for her bold decisions than just her trying to blend in.
Bruce insisted on paying for all the boys’ date’s dresses – in this case, suit – if they happened to bring one. He always thought it was more of an incentive for them to attend these terrible events if he encouraged them to bring significant others. And the press always had a field day with it, which only helped throw people of their trail when it came to their secret lives as vigilantes.
Everyone kept screaming Dick’s name as they walked in, and Y/N wondered how he got so good at smiling through the chaos and ignoring them.
Once they were inside, Dick felt the tension leave Y/N’s body a bit.
“Alcohol?” He offered with a smirk.
“Yes, please.”
He nodded, knowing it was exactly what she needed.
Quickly, he grabbed two champagne flutes off a passing waiter.
They clinked glasses.
Then he leaned forward and whispered in her ear, “Thank you for being my date.”
Y/N smiled at his sincerity.
Dick sighed before he threw back the champagne, “The quicker we find Bruce and prove we were here, the sooner we can leave.”
“Try not to sound so excited,” she laughed darkly.
Suddenly felt a small human wrap around her thighs.
Y/N gasped in excitement, “Dami!”
Dick smiled as he looked down at his 10-year-old brother hugging his girlfriend.
“Dick gave me the drawing you made for us. It’s so beautiful. I’m trying to find the perfect frame for it,” she told the boy.
Damian beamed with pride at that.
Suddenly the boy started asking a million questions about Stoker, one of his kittens that he’d given to them to take care of when Bruce gave a limit to how many cats Damian was allowed to have in the manor.
Then, to Dick’s shock, he saw Jason slowly walk over to them with his hands in his pant pockets.
He was not at all dressed nice enough for the event. No suit jacket. No tie. His white button-up shirt wrinkled, messily tucked into his pants, and with two many buttons undone. The sloppiness of it all clearly wasn’t an issue with the women, seeing as all of them were ogling Jason.
“Todd,” Damian greeted coldly, pausing his conversation with Y/N, who whipped around at the name.
“Hey, you,” Y/N smiled as she went to greet him.
Jason gave her a friendly kiss on the cheek and a quick hug.
“I really didn’t think you were coming,” Dick told his brother.
“Well, I wasn’t. But I got a business engagement.”
Y/N and Dick shared a confused look.
“What do you mean?” Dick asked.
“I found my neighbor crying on her fire escape a few nights ago. Apparently… one of the finance bros of Wayne fucking Enterprises was everything but a gentleman to her.”
Y/N’s eyes widened in realization. “J, I already took care of that.”
“I know,” Jason nodded as his eyes scanned the room. He was clearly on a personal mission tonight. “You deleted the evidence. I am teaching him a lesson.”
Dick slowly put together what they were implying.
“Oh, please don’t make a scene, Jason.” Dick begged him.
Because he knew Bruce wouldn’t be dealing with the aftermath; it would be him.
“Don’t worry!” Jason laughed. "I’m gonna take him outside before I beat the shit out of him. No one here will even notice. It’ll be fine,” Jason assured him as he gave Dick a far too heavy slap on the back.
“Just tell Bruce and he’ll get him fired,” Dick tried to convince him to take the less violent route.
“Oh, we already did,” Y/N muttered.
Dick’s gaze shot to his girlfriend.
“He’s getting fired on Monday,” she clarified sheepishly.
“Since when do the two of you work together behind my back?” Dick accused them.
But he wasn’t actually mad about anything – maybe just a little bit bitter.
Jason opened his mouth.
“I swear to God, Jason, if you say ‘club business,’ I will lose it…” Dick warned.
Y/N tried to hide her smile.
“Got him,” Jason growled as he glared at someone on the other side of the room.
As soon as he left them, Dick gave Y/N his full attention.
“Seriously?” He accused.
“I’m sorry! He asked me for a favor and I was happy to do it once I realized what it was,” Y/N defended.
Dick pouted a little. Mostly because he hated being left out.
“Don’t worry, ya big baby. I’m still your ‘guy in the chair’ and no one else’s,” she teased before giving him a kiss, immediately wiping the lipstick off his lips.
“How come Jason gets to beat up people at events like this, but I’m expected to behave like a well-trained dog?” Damian mumbled.
Dick sighed and shook his head.
“Jason likes to think he’s a lone wolf who doesn’t have to play by the rules,” Y/N tried to comfort the boy.
To distract Damian from getting further into how unfair it was, Y/N asked him to show her more of his drawings.
This seemed to please Damian and he pulled his phone out, flipping through photos and showing Y/N his recent sketches.
With Y/N being entertained by his youngest brother, Dick decided to go to the bar and get the two of them a stronger drink and maybe get a kiddie cocktail for Damian. He’d pretend to be patronized and annoyed by it, but Dick knew better.
He patiently waited for the bartender’s attention.
“So Gotham’s Golden Boy really has returned…” a husky voice uttered beside him at the bar.
Dick glanced over to see a beautiful woman close to his age eyeing him.
It was clear what she wanted. Dick used tactics like this on countless missions.
“So I have,” he answered.
He was polite, but distant.
Women hitting on him at events like this was nothing new. To Gotham, Dick Grayson was a Bruce Wayne 2.0 – younger, just as charming and handsome as his mentor and stand-in father figure.
Dick knew how to play the game. But he never had any interest in casual relationships like Bruce did.
“Back for good?” The woman persisted.
“My girlfriend and I are just in town for a few weeks,” he answered before ordering his drinks with the bartender finally.
“Oh, brought up the girlfriend rather quickly,” she laughed.
Dick quirked an eyebrow. “Is that a problem?”
“No, it’s just…my friends and I had a bet going.”
Then she pointed to a group of three young women, who were giggling and smiling, not even trying to pretend like they weren’t watching them closely.
“Oh, yeah?” Dick asked, already tired of this conversation.
--
Jason had already rejoined Y/N and Damian.
Y/N looked down to see his knuckles red with irritation and bruised.
“Please tell me there’s not a corpse in the alley behind this hotel now…” Y/N sighed.
“No,” Jason answered coldly. “Though there fucking should be.”
“What did he do?” Damian asked curiously, clearly he hadn’t been listening to their earlier conversation that closely.
Y/N shifted her weight in discomfort, not sure how to handle the subject with the boy. Yes, Damian was far more mature than many grown men, but he was still just a kid. There were some things Y/N felt like they should at least try to protect him from still.
“He got my neighbor too drunk to consent, filmed them having sex without her knowing it, and then showed it to a bunch of people at their work,” Jason answered bluntly.
Damian’s brow furrowed, clearly thinking long and hard about what his brother just told him.
After a moment, the boy perked up, “I know where we could hide the body so even father won’t find out.”
“Damian!” Y/N scolded.
But Jason was beaming.
Y/N looked around for Dick, hoping to find another sane person to stop the two boys from actually murdering anyone tonight.
But when she finally spotted him, she saw a woman standing far too close to Dick and pointing to a group of girls who flirtatiously waved and winked at both of them.
“Real cute,” Y/N muttered to herself.
“Vultures,” Damian growled as he followed her gaze.
“Jason, if I leave you alone with Damian, are you going to kill someone?” She asked without taking her eyes off her boyfriend.
“I don’t need to be watched,” Damian groaned.
“No, I need you to watch Jason to make sure he doesn’t change his mind about keeping that asshole alive.”
“Fine,” Damian whined.
Without any further confirmation, Y/N left them.
She walked across the party on a mission, never taking her stare off of her boyfriend.
Dick did a double take when he noticed her heading towards him.
“Hey,” he greeted innocently.
Because he was innocent. All he’d done was be polite to a bunch of women who were after him for his name…and maybe his good looks.
“I was wondering where my drink was,” Y/N said with a surprising calmness and smile.
Then she turned to the woman.
“Hi, I’m Y/N. You must be a friend of Dick’s.”
She held her hand out.
No cattiness. No rudeness.
Y/N said it with the same kindness that drunk women having with other drunk women in bar bathrooms.
“Oh…I’m Irina,” the woman stuttered as she took Y/N’s offered hand, clearly confused by Y/N’s niceness.
Dick held out her drink.
Y/N took it, quickly clinked her glass with both Dick and Irina.
“Cheers,” she sang before tossing it back and chugging the drink that was meant to be slowly sipped.
Dick didn’t know what game his girlfriend was playing, but he was intrigued.
Once Y/N lightly placed her empty glass back on the bar, she turned to Dick and tilted her head to the side. “Could you show me to the bathrooms? I have no idea where they are.”
“Of course,” Dick answered without knowing where this was going.
“It was nice meeting you, Irina,” Y/N told the woman as she linked her fingers with Dick’s and guided him away.
Meanwhile, Jason watched the interaction as if he were watching an award-winning movie. Him and Damian were way too far to hear, but everyone in the bat family could read lips more than fluently.
Then Jason smirked as he watched Y/N drag Dick away.
“Boys,” Bruce greeted as he snuck up on the two of them. “What are we staring at?”
“Oh, you know,” Jason hummed with hilarity, “just watching Y/N assert her dominance.”
“Good for her,” Bruce grinned as he realized what was happening.
He moved his attention to his youngest boy. “Alfred is waiting outside with the car. You’re officially released from your duties.”
“Finally,” Damian groaned.
“Don’t you wanna say bye to Y/N?” Jason asked.
“They’re coming to the manor tomorrow afternoon,” Bruce answered for his son. Then he raised a brow at Jason. “You’re welcome to join us.”
Jason’s only response was a shrug.
Bruce tried to hide his disappointment and nodded before he guided Damian away and walked him outside, where Alfred was waiting.
10 minutes later, Jason saw Dick trailing behind Y/N as she walked back to the main area of the event.
Jason burst out laughing at the spectacle.
Dick’s hair was an absolute mess. Half of his shirt was untucked. His jacket was draped over his forearm. His lips were swollen and pink. Y/N had left lipstick all over his neck and even a bit on the collar of his shirt.
Yet somehow not a single hair was out of place on Y/N and her makeup was still immaculate. Her outfit was just as sleek and clean as when she’d arrived. The only thing different was the proud smirk on her lips.
Clearly Y/N had just had her way with Dick.
But she wanted to make sure the whole party knew about it.
Y/N hadn’t said a word to Dick since she dragged him from that woman.
Her body did all the talking.
One second they were at the bathroom doors, the next Y/N had thrown him against the tiled wall after locking the bathroom door.
She gave no verbal explanation, just started kissing him and undoing his pants.
“Not that I’m complaining. Like, at all,” Dick laughed as they rejoined the party. “But wanna to tell me what that was all about?”
Y/N finally stopped walking and turned to face him with narrowed eyes. “I think you know, Richard.”
Y/N only ever used his full first name to provoke and tease him. And he hated that it worked every single time.
Dick glanced around to see that everyone in their vicinity was eyeing them. Well, they were mostly eyeing him and how it was clear he’d just been fucked in the bathroom.
He stepped close to her and lowered his voice, “Ohhh, I see how it is.” His eyes flickered down to her lips for a split second. “If a guy does that, he’s jealous and possessive. But if a woman does it, it’s sexy…”
Y/N proudly smiled like the cheshire cat. “Exactly.”
Something over his shoulder caught her attention. “Oh, I see Tim. I’m going to go say hi.”
Without hesitation, she brushed past him.
Dick let his head fall, put his hands on his hips, and laughed.
He’d pay her back later tonight. And by ‘pay her back,’ he would just tell her how incredibly hot her behavior had been and basically invite her to do it whenever she damn well pleased.
Dick felt a presence beside him, and he didn’t have to raise his head to know it was Bruce.
“Hey,” Dick greeted him nonchalantly.
“You have lipstick all over your neck,” Bruce told him as he took a sip of his drink and looked around the party. “And your zippers down.”
“Sure is,” Dick sighed.

I think I just pieced together the point the writers are trying to make with Dick’s arc LOL. Like maybe I cracked a code here that makes so many things seem less random including him refusing to bring Conner with him.
Keep in mind that very confusing exchange Dick had with Kory where she told him “there’s a Batman who kills and one who doesn’t” and his non response- which many interpreted as him being disrespectful. Now looking at it again I think he just had no way of promising her what he would do so he said nothing. -I’m gonna come back to that.
Okay so we can say Bruce is officially the Batman who kills (rest in pieces joker). It’s safe to say Dick took “be a better Batman” too literally. And in his mind Batman gets things done and uses the police for their resources. Personally Dickbabs reads as him just using her for resources in a strong majority of their scenes. 3x08 where they are supposedly an item he wanted her to come over to work on the case instead of go on their date. Then he ultimately decided not to do the gala once Tim showed up and instead of calling to apologize he asked her to use the computer to track Jason. Batman doesn’t apologize. (I don’t recall Bruce even saying sorry to Dick on this show either.)
Then the accident rattled his brain a bit. He was literally seeing bats as he was being consumed with the idea of becoming a better Batman. But he was also seeing a younger version of himself who was trying to tell him something. Likely to ignore the bats and let go of his Batman 2.0 crusade. I think we’ll see younger him again when Dicks in a coma or temporarily dead.
So back to Korys line now with the context that Bruce is the Batman who kills. Kory was warning him not to become that. Because sure Dick’s motivation in shutting ppl out is never because he assumes he’s smarter but rather more self sacrificial. But the result is still the same. He seems cold and mean. And what I mean about self sacrificial is that he’s practically suicidal in his attempts to keep the team away from Red Hood.
After he got shot the first time Gar and Kory lit him up and his response was that he didn’t want them to get hurt as if he wasn’t sitting there bleeding out. “Bruce got shot all the time”. People read it as arrogance but in the next ep when Babs got scared and destroyed Oracle he screamed at her for being worried about him. Because he’s not concerned about what happens to him. What’s important is the case. What further distinguishes him from Bruce though is that yeah Dick sees himself as collateral damage but he doesn’t see the team as toy soldiers. That coldness Bruce had about Jim doesn’t exist here. Dick would never talk about Hank like that. Or Donna. And that’s sweet and all but it’s stupid. Because they don’t consider him extendable and will never agree with his self dehumanization. I’m surprised he hasn’t gotten slapped yet.
So as Dick was caring less about his own life, putting the case above all, and icing out his loved ones Kory reminded him how that ended for Bruce. Bruce did all of that just to become a murderer anyway. Ended up so lost he tried to kill himself. It doesn’t work and you end up alone.
When Dick gets his chance to kill Jason and really become Batman… he doesn’t do it.

About Tim’s New Story….
I just really hope they address Tim’s mental health. Like, DC just been ditching really good plot lines in favor of being “woke” or pandering. Just look at all the live action shows.
Now I’m not saying they can’t make Tim queer/bi/gay, but (as someone pointed out to me) Tim’s previous story writer was bi and he still chose to write Tim as straight & in a healthy romantic relationship with Stephanie Brown. I’ve seen several people who identify as queer/bi say that to have Tim go “ ooooh I’ve fooled myself into thinking I was straight, but now I’m freeeee” sends the message that Tim’s previous relationship failed b/c he was with a woman and not because of Tim’s poor mental and emotional health.
To go back to my previous statement; by him not writing Tim as bi tells me that he didn’t want or care for Tim to be bi, but instead saw Tim as, or preferred him to be, straight. The writer had free control to write Tim how ever he wanted and yet he chose to keep Tim straight. And he actually liked & wanted Tim/Steph. Again, I’m not saying Tim can’t be queer/bi, I’m just saying I find the motivations for this possible change very fishy. Almost as if the new writer is trying to get brownie points for pandering to a portion of the fans.
I think this way b/c in every other media where a character is revealed to be LGBTQ they just did it. They didn’t beat around the bush or do any queer coding/baiting. They either announced it, just made the character that way right out the gate, or just dropped the bomb w/out warning (as seen in Netflix’s Voltron, Amazon Prime’s Invincible, and Nickelodeon’s Legend of Korra respectfully).
DC currently has a bad habit changing things to be “woke” and bragging about it or shoving it in our faces. DC is becoming the “pick me girl” of superhero media. If you want to do it, just do it. Again I just get the “look at me, look at me” & “carrot on the stick” vibes from them now. If you truly feel in your heart to do something you would just do it without the need for recognition or to be so dramatic about it.
Now what I much rather see & think it’s a natural progression for Tim:
I personally believe that if Jason, Dick, & Damian can get a story that attempts to give them character development beyond romantic relationships (romance was more of a B-plot to the character driven A-plot anyway) I think they can give it to Tim as well.
I know that the Bat-Family all struggle with some form of mental health problems (most commonly paranoia and PTSD). However, I would like to point out that trauma is was what brought the others into the vigilante lifestyle, while Tim & Barbara became traumatized because of the vigilante lifestyle. Yet, Barbara was shown overcoming her trauma and using it as motivation to get better. Tim is yet to have this moment.
We all know that Tim struggles with depression, self-esteem, and suicidal tendencies. I mean heck, him becoming Red Robin only happens because of Tim’s degrading mental health. I hate to say it, but Tim is very psychologically broken and has been show to get so depressed that he can’t even get out of bed some times. To my knowledge, Tim is the only one in the Bat-Fam that struggles in his head with the idea of not being needed, useful, or forgotten when in reality that is furthest from the truth (Steph, Jason, & Damian also feel like the black sheep periodically, but that is because they have been presented with real evidence that would lead them to logically believe this. I.e being actually forgotten or dismissed for past mistakes despite great efforts to better themselves).
While yes, Dick did Tim dirty by replacing him without having a proper conversation first, the motivation was because he saw Tim as his equal and not Damian. He thought highly of Tim, but Tim couldn’t see that over his offense. Tim is so beat down by life that he see’s everything with negative lenses. Everyone came to check on Tim’s mental health but Tim took it as an insult instead.
And even though now Tim has reached some form of “peace” in his life, that only happens because the people he lost came back (Bruce, Conner, Bart, Cassie, etc). Tim never fully learned to handle grief, to handle his emotions, instead he represses them. Again in the Red Robin run, the main reason he doesn’t believe in any form of God is because he can’t logically justify the pain he has gone through. He is hurting and doesn’t know how to deal with that. In his original Robin run, when he tried talking someone out of committing suicide……the words and comfort he gave….that wasn’t something that was just inside Tim, this is something that was told to Tim. This is followed by him calling Dick to get the same pep-talk he just regurgitated to someone else.
In short: Tim is hurting. Deeply. And having been someone who’s emotional & mental sanity was pushed to the brink and attempted to jump off several times, I think it’s really sad that DC just ignores it. Now as someone who’s gotten the help they needed & now helps other people who struggle with the same issues as myself & Tim, I think that they’re going to say a lot of Tim’s problems come from him not being “aware” of his own sexuality, which is just sad.
In the story in question, Barbara talks about Tim not having a solid identity. People are more than their sexuality. People are capable of making future decisions for themselves without it hindering on their sexuality. If Tim was real, I would brake down his struggle as so:
Tim refuses to go to college and do something more with his life because he cannot see anything beyond his current circumstance. And the only reason why Tim cannot see anything beyond his circumstance is because he has no internal sense of purpose, identity, and acceptance beyond the cape & cowl. And when Tim finally found that in being Robin, Tim held onto it as a lifeline. There’s a reason why everyone says Tim is basically Bruce 2.0: it’s because he is Robin/Red Robin/Drake & Tim is the mask. At a young age, he did not grow up having these things instilled into him due to his parents neglecting him at a very important age in his development. Tim raised himself, and for a lack of better terms; an idiot cannot teach themselves to be smarter, an idiot becomes smarter by learning from the intelligent. A child can’t teach themselves to be an adult, they have to learn from others to grow & better themselves.
Now a parent doesn’t necessarily have to sit down and give a lesson about how to be an individual, but children learn how to live life by watching their parents. A good example of this is the rest of the Bat-Fam; they all grew up with some form of parental figures that taught them how to behave (for better or worse). Of course children have their own personalities, which is why two kids can go through the same type of trauma but come out differently, but it is a battle of nature vs nurture. Steph, Jason, Cass, & Damian grew up in abusive/unstable homes, while Dick, Barbara, & Bruce grew up in loving homes, but their personalities & character dictated how they responded to trauma. They took what life gave them and decided what to leave or take.
Tim had nothing to work with & is basically playing catch-up with the rest of his peers.
In a weird sense, Tim is like Zuko from The Last Airbender: only living to serve their father’s purpose. Anything outside of that they don’t know what to do. They’ve been trained to be something externally without been given a chance to figure out who they are internally.
Again you are not your sexuality, your sexuality does not determine who you are as a person. When a person struggles through life, it is due to the conditions of thier soul. Everything starts internally and shows it’s self externally.
I want to make that very clear because I am truly scared that in DC’s attempt to claim “clout” they are missing the bigger picture. Tim doesn’t have identity problems simply because he “doesn’t know” he likes boys, but because DC never gave him is own identity to begin with. Robin was never his own identity, Red Robin was never his, & Drake was his first attempt to make his own but he quickly gave it up so that he can be Robin once again. What is Tim going to do once Damian gets back? Is Damian going to get his own identity before Tim? Or is Tim just going to go back to one of his old identities?
I would like for Tim to personally move on from being a vigilante and rejoin civilian society for a while. Go to college, do something for himself and only for himself. Give Tim the self-discovery story, let him heal, and grown to be his own person. Besides you can never have a functional romantic relationship if you are not a functional individual. Self love > romantic love.

the multiverse
Bruce Wayne x batmom! reader
Word Count: 1360
Warnings: none, just an innocent crack fic
Summary: What happens when (y/n) is sent into an alternate universe that seemingly looks just like hers?
Tumblr media
The BatCave is far from silent when (y/n) enters. She hears the clinks of tools, and the distinct voices of her sons, as well as the occasional squeak of bats from the depths of stalactites.
"what are you boys working on?"
Jason's head snaps up toward the sound of (y/n)'s approaching voice, and he gives her a smile. "We don't know if it will work yet, but we're working on a prototype for something we can hopefully confirm as a teleportation device."
He sweeps his hair out of his face with grimy hands, leaving a mark on his forehead.
"Why exactly, may I ask?" (y/n) cocks her head to the side, giving Jason a quizzical look. "Because it's cool, Ma. Why else?"
Shaking her head and snickering, she leans in closer to take a proper look. In all honesty, she had no idea how it would even classify as a teleportation device. It wasn't like anything she'd seen in movies. It did however look like military grade technology. "So, how is this supposed to work if there isn't any buttons or levers?"At her question, Dick seems to materialise from behind Bruce's desk, poking his head out from the other side of the BatCave.
"That's just the base. Without that, whatever is transported can't actually return. This is what makes the magic happen."
Dick graces one of his famous ear-to-ear grins, and tosses her a remote of sorts. (y/n) catches it effortlessly, examining it with curiosity. Tim ambled towards (y/n), and explained the mechanisms.
"To send someone into an alternate universe, you press this button." His fingers push the red button gently, and then looks to (y/n), a bit disheartened. "But... we're not done. So it doesn't work yet, unfortunately."
She nods in response, handing back the mechanism to Dick, who spins a spanner in the other hand. "Right, but I just have one question; does Bruce know about all this?"
"no," they answer in unison.
"just as i suspected, then," she comments, which earns her a grunt of amusement from Damian, whose eyebrows are still scrunched in concentration. "Well, I'm feeling a bit dizzy, but I think that's fatigue getting to my head."
Tim huffs out a small laugh, and guides (y/n) towards the BatCave exit. "Go get some rest, mom. You may have taken a few too many punches last night." Rubbing her temples to coax away a sneaking headache, (y/n) heads back up to her shared bedroom.
It seemed the combat she encountered the night before, had really done a number on her. The next time she was on patrol, she could make sure those thugs wished they were never born. As for the time being, (y/n) was going to sleep.
After a well deserved rest in a luxury bed, (y/n) decides it's a good idea to visit her husband in his office. Perhaps he needed her to rescue him from his anxiety. It is well known by now, that Bruce tends to let stress get the best of him. On her stroll down one of the manor's many halls, she notices a few china vases are missing. She thought nothing of it though. It was probably just Alfred experimenting his skills in interior design. When she reaches the door to Bruce's study, she turns the glossy doorknob, to Bruce sitting at his desk. There were papers scattered in a disorderly manner on the mahogany desk, with Bruce leaning on his elbows, faced down, and rubbing his eyes as he squeezed them closed.
"Hey, Baby. You okay?" she asks, generally concerned for the health of her husband. Bruce has way too many sleepless nights. God knows how he juggled personal life, work life and the Bat.
"(y/n)?" he mutters wearily. "Uh, you do realise that calling me terms of endearment is highly unprofessional of you, right?"
What. In the world. Was that about? Bruce only ever used that tone at Wayne Tower, or on the phone with business calls. He never used that stiff CEO tone of voice with (y/n). It was always soft, not always charming, but casual enough to know that it was her husband she was speaking to. This was like talking to someone she hadn't familiarised herself with yet.
"I'm sorry?" she choked out.
"As my assistant, it's only fair that you respect our relationship on a professional level." (y/n) gulped visibly. She didn't know what Bruce was playing at, but he didn't look like he was trying to be witty. "I'm sure you are completely aware of my marriage to Selina," he continued. Bruce stared at her straight in the eye.
(y/n) couldn't help but let an anxious laugh escape her lips, as her eyes frantically search the room in an attempt to avoid his unwavering gaze. "Is this some kind of joke?"Just as the question rolled off her tongue, Tim walked in.
"Oh, hey (y/n), have you got the files I asked for yesterday?"
"I'm confused. Is this meant to be some sort of prank? Because if it is, it's not funny." This time, instead of nervous giggling, (y/n) stands firm, hands propped on her hips and eyes boring into Tim. She stares him down whilst the confusion continues to spin circles in her head. For a second, she feels as if her form spasms and freezes.
"(y/n), you're glitching," Tim points out. She looks down at her hands, and sure enough, her body was phasing in and out of visibility. Her skin tone was no longer evident. Instead, bluish and purple coloured pixels emitted light and twitched every once in a while. So it seems that the teleportation device did in fact work. Maybe the boys worked a little too hard into making it though, considering it had seemingly teleported her all the way into another earth. She must have gotten here in her sleep.
"I think I know what's going on here," (y/n) mutters under her breath, still mesmerised by the strange viscosity of her pixelated hands. Bruce clears his throat, still unsure of what exactly was occurring. Tim walks towards the door, as a knock from the other side sounds. (y/n) hadn't noticed beforehand, but the Tim of this universe seemed to have a much slimmer build, with the absence of the broad shoulders she was used to.
The door opens, revealing a woman in heels, her face mirroring the exact image of (y/n)'s facial structure. The woman doesn't seem to notice the fluster unfolding in the room, still looking down at a few loose leaf papers in her hands. "Sir, I have the- what the fuck?"
The woman drops her papers in shock, eyes going wide, hands flying to her mouth. (y/n) just simply lifts an eyebrow, examining her counterpart.
"I'm you from another earth," (y/n) starts. "The Tim Drake from my universe must've accidentally sent me into yours," she says, doing her best to explain. Tim simply nods, the cogs visibly working in his head.
(y/n) 2.0 is still shocked, however she seems to display some sort of understanding.
"You see, I'm married to the Bruce Wayne of my universe. I didn't mean to cause any discomfort or confusion here. I'm sorry."
"No, we understand. We'll see if we can send you back," says Bruce. He and Tim, end up discussing ways in which they could possibly send (y/n) back to where she came from, but not without Alfred's cucumber sandwiches.
"I just have one question for you, Bruce Wayne: are you the Batman of this universe?" At this question, Bruce's brows furrow, as his lips lift into an amused smirk. Tim snickers in the background, muttering a "what?" before Bruce answers.
"What the hell is a Batman?" he asks, somewhat laughing. But just before (y/n) could reply, she feels herself being pulled back, a blinding light consuming everything around her.
All of a sudden she is on all fours, on the BatCave floor, nauseous and dizzy. She holds back the urge to gag, gulping down her queasiness.
The boys audibly release sighs of relief, scurrying from the teleportation base to (y/n), fussing over her and asking if she's okay.
"All four of you are in big trouble."

________________________________________________________________
If Tam is uneasy conversing with a legally dead man, she hides it well. She doesn’t ask him how he’s involved in Gotham’s nightlife, and he doesn’t volunteer. Instead, for a few hours, she distracts him with stories of Tim’s more paranoid and dramatic antics, including but not limited to her having the chase him halfway across Europe while he was searching for Batman.
“Of course, I didn’t know that’s what he was doing,” she tells him, sitting cross-legged on the sofa across from the bed. “I thought he was just trying to find himself or whatever rich playboys do when their dad dies. And then I walk into my hotel room one night, and there he is on my bed, dressed in bright red Kevlar and bleeding out next to a woman with a slit throat.”
“Hell of a way to discover your boss is a vigilante,” Jason snorts.
“Well, I already knew there was something weird about him considering all the trouble I went through trying to track him down, but honestly the worst I thought was him owing someone money.”
“You thought the millionaire wunderkind owed people money?”
“It could happen,” Tam defends herself. “I almost wish it had been that. We have lawyers for that kind of thing. But no, it’s all ‘League of Assassins’ and ‘cults of death’.” She rolls her eyes. “I’m surprised he hasn’t lost more than his spleen.”
That Jason didn’t know.
Of course, it’s not like he peruses the mainframe for an up-to-date list of injuries everyone has. At least, not since he stopped trying to take any of them out. But losing an organ was a hell of a sacrifice to make for the sake of tracking down Bruce.
Hope the old man was grateful at least.
Tam goes on to talk about a ploy by the League to kill all the Bats and their allies (which Jason probably only missed out on due to being in space at the time), which somehow devolves into a rant about Tim’s increasingly extra cold war with Vicki Vale that involved their fake engagement and him spending a year in crutches to prove a point (Jason thinks he remembers Kory pointing that out to him in one of her gossip magazines once), and at last a full-on tirade about lying to her about her father’s death.
“You’re at least gettin' hazard pay, right?” he asks. “It’s not like he can’t afford it.”
“Oh, you have no idea,” she replies with a hard smile that wouldn’t be out of place on one of Gotham’s rogues.
Their conversation finally comes to an end around two o’clock in the morning when Tim returns, hair slicked with sweat and bruises on his face.
“What happened?” Tam asks, getting to her feet. “I thought you said you were only going out to keep an eye on things.”
“I ran into Robin while I was out, and we exchanged certain words. And certain fists.”
“Why?” Jason wants to know, immediately tense at any kind of Bat attention, even if it’s not on him.
“The demon brat wants me back to San Francisco as soon as possible because Gotham’s “his city”,” Tim replies, making air quotes.
“Jesus, the apple really didn’t fall far with that one, did it?”
“I actually think it’s his way of checking up on me. If he intended to hurt me, there’d have been sharp objects involved, or he’d have cut my line while I was in midair again.”
“He did what?”
Damn, Jason’s tried to kill Tim before, but he at least had the stones to do it to his face. That sneaky shit is straight-up League tactics.
“Misunderstanding,” Tim dismisses. “But this is good. If he thinks I’m just staying here to stick it to him, he’s not about to go asking questions or dig deeper. He’ll just take it as a challenge to go out on patrol more and try to one-up me that way.”
“And if he complains to anyone at the manor, they’ll shrug it off as his usual gripin' about you,” Jason catches on.
“Exactly.”
It’s kind of genius, actually.
“And that’s my cue to leave. One of us needs to not fall asleep in the boardroom,” Tam announces, eyes wide and somewhat bemused at their conversation.
She might be in the know, but clearly doesn’t quite understand the dynamic between Tim and the youngest Bat. Jason’s not sure he fully understands it himself. He’d wager it’s something like the way he and Dick were when they were younger, only with more actual attempts at murder.
(And Damian might be a lethal little monster, but Jason knows if Tim one day decides to abandon Bruce’s golden rule and really start trying, the little demon will be taken out before he even knows what hit him.)
“That was once,” Tim is grousing. “And we’d just stopped a secret order of owls from taking over Gotham. I earned that nap.”
Tam gives a groaning sigh—clearly, it’s an old argument—and turns to Jason.
“Don’t look at me, I’m actually on his side for this one,” he shrugs.
Tim blinks. “Really?”
“Don’t make it weird, Drake.”
That night was a pain in the ass. Freeze and an undead owl acrobat at the same time? Not fun.
Tam’s brow furrows.
“I have questions,” she says slowly, “but they can wait. I really do need to sleep.” She digs into her pocket and presses something into Jason’s hand—a business card with her name on it. “If you need anything and Tim’s not around—or if Tim is around but glued to a computer screen or something—give me a call.”
Jason stares at the card, not entirely sure what to say to that.
“See you, Tam. Want me to walk you to your car?”
“I know the way out. Besides, I ordered an Uber, I’m fine. Go shower and get some sleep, mister.”
She leaves.
“Did she just...decide that we’re friends?” Jason asks Tim after she’s left.
The younger man huffs. “I think she’s just happy to find someone who she can complain to about me and my nighttime shenanigans who actually gets it.”
“Yeah, except I get the other side of it.”
“She doesn’t know that.”
Jason shakes his head, shoving the card in his jacket pocket.
Criminally insane villains I get; people are weird.
“So other than bondin' with the kid, what’d you get into tonight?” Jason asks, not really interested but wanting to gloss over the puzzling interaction.
“Murder at a construction site near Newtown,” Tim replies, clearly picking up on Jason’s unease. “Someone called in a tip and the police found a boy encased in concrete.”
“Mob hit?”
“Most likely. And a weighty one. Giancarlo Gazzo’s kid.”
Jason raises his eyebrows. “Shit.”
“Exactly. Could be just the usual competition for contracts, but it’s more likely a prelude to an all-out mob war. It’ll definitely justify me sticking around here for a while.”
“Unless B decides to take over.”
“He won’t. Selina’s in town, so he’s going through one of his trusting periods where he respects us all doing our own thing. I give it another month or so before he starts up with the micromanaging.”
“You have two much faith in him. I give it two weeks.”
Tim looks like he has something he wants to say to that, but chooses not to. Instead, he jerks his head toward the hallway. “I’m going to shower. Do you need anything? I don’t think I said so before, but you can help yourself to anything in the kitchen.”
“Nah. Go take a shower, Bruce 2.0. You stink like grotty socks.”
“I’m sure you smell like a rose at the end of a patrol.”
“And don’t you forget it,” he quips back as Tim leaves.
As soon as he’s gone, Jason’s irreverent façade vanishes and he falls back on the bed, staring up at the ceiling blankly.
What am I doing?
This morning seems so far away, almost like it happened weeks ago. Waking up ignorant of the possibility of having a kid and intending to do nothing more in his near future than get completely shit-faced. Tomorrow (today?) things were supposed to go back to normal, to Jason’s usual routine of patrolling his neighborhood and avoiding people like Tim.
And now he’s staying in Tim’s apartment.
Because in a few days he’s going to bring home his daughter.
His stomach twists again at that thought, still having trouble with the word.
Did Roy ever feel like this?
Sure, he was shocked at the big reveal, but then he threw himself into being a dad. He wanted it. Hell, Bruce had wanted to be a father. He wanted Jason once, had even adopted him after all the crap Jason put him through in the beginning. Having a kid was never a burden to him, even if he’d gotten a lot wrong, and he took to the idea much faster than Jason’s doing now.
Maybe it’s because he had practice with Dick. Or the fact we were all older and not babies. Made it less terrifying.
Though Jason’s not sure he would be any less messed up if it were ten years from now and Isabel was introducing him to a preteen daughter.
Different sort of terrifying, I guess. Even Bruce would be better at adapting to that than me.
And Jason would really like to know why his thoughts keep circling back to Bruce.
“Because he’s your dad, moron,” Roy’s voice echoes in his head. “Now grow a pair and start thinking like an adult.”
Jason privately maintains he’s been having to think like an adult all his life, why can’t he have a day off for once?
An awareness hits him of being watched and he sits up, noticing that Tim has returned and is standing framed in his door. His shower-damp hair hangs past his chin and he’s dressed in a T-shirt and flannel pants, but he still manages to look as stiff and business-like as if he’s about to walk into a meeting. Of course, he always kind of looks like that to Jason, mostly because he can’t recall ever seeing him dressed casually before today.
Or yesterday.
Whatever.
“Can I come in?” Tim asks.
Jason shrugs. “It’s your place.”
“And it’s your room as long as you’re here.”
“Just get your ass in here,” he groans. He’s not sure what’s more annoying: when Tim’s managing him or trying to be considerate.
The younger man settles on the sofa where Tam was before, brow furrowed like he’s trying to decide what he wants to say. At last, he settles on, “I know you don’t want to, but the sooner we get out in front of this the better. We can’t just keep reacting.”
Jason glares. “It isn’t a PR problem, asswipe, it’s a kid.”
“Really? I hadn’t noticed while I was feeding and holding her and you were running away to have a freak-out,” Tim snaps. Before Jason can snarl back at him, he groans and rakes his hand through too-long bangs. Taking a deep breath, he makes a calming gesture. “Sorry. Anyone would be freaking out. The point I’m trying to make is that we need to know what we’re doing so we can plan properly. We can’t just sit here pretending like it’s going to go away.”
“You keep sayin' ‘we’, but the last time I checked, this is all on me.”
“No, it isn’t.” Tim’s borderline frustrated expression softens. “It takes two people, Jason. And it’s just as much on Isabel as on you. It’s sad she died—of course it is—but she also didn’t tell you something that was of vital importance. Especially considering who you are.”
“It’s because of who I am she didn’t tell me,” Jason replies quietly, trying not to show how much the other man’s words caught him off-guard. “And that’s on me.”
“And you say I sound like Bruce,” Tim mutters, rubbing the heels of his hands into his eyes. “Whatever. Stick a pin in that argument, it’ll keep.” He lowers his hands, staring at Jason with bleary eyes that are trying for serious. “Before we make any kind of arrangements, I need to know: are you absolutely sure you don’t want to keep her?”
“I can’t,” Jason croaks, a sharp pang hitting him in the gut. “I’d ruin her.”
Tim’s mouth thins. “I don’t think you give yourself enough credit, but okay.”
“Excuse me if I don’t buy that from the guy whose throat I literally cut.”
“And if you wanted me dead, I would be,” Tim dismisses. “You weren’t exactly you at the time.”
“I was me enough.”
“Would you stop trying to pick a fight with me?” Tim snaps then. “I’m trying to help you. I don’t need reminders of what a colossal asshole you’ve been to me in the past, I was there. This is about a kid. Your kid. And if you’re not going to keep her, then we need to know the best options for her.”
Jason feels a tiny prick of shame at that, but he tells himself it’s only because Roy offered him the same advice earlier.
“You and Safiya both said she was dating,” Tim goes on.
“And apparently it ended badly.”
“We don’t know for sure it ended because Isabel was pregnant,” Tim reasons. “It might have been for some other reason. Maybe we can appeal to the guy’s better nature.”
“You believe in the Tooth-Fairy too?”
“It’s an option.”
“It’s barely an option.”
“Still an avenue we can explore,” Tim insists. “Maybe after we’ve talked to her friends. She’s got to have someone other than Safiya who might take Luisa.” Jason startles a bit at the name, having temporarily forgotten about it. “Assuming you don’t want to keep her in Gotham?”
Jason isn’t entirely sure what he wants. On the one hand, Gotham is a cesspool, his home only because his blood is literally all over this city. There’s nowhere else he can imagine living. But if he’d had a choice? If as a child, his parents packed him in a car and drove him to anywhere the hell else? Things would have been very different.
And on the other hand, every kid deserves to know their parents, in some way. If they can find someone who knew Isabel better than Jason did, she won’t grow up completely separated from the woman who gave birth to her.
Tim appears to take his silence for disagreement because he goes on, “Then there’s adoption, of course. We keep it private, find and vet a family using our parameters—no need to even go through the system if that’s what you want—and it can be open or closed or whatever you want it to be.”
Jason nods mechanically.
“And you realize that to do any of this, you’re going to have to exist? Officially?” Tim points out. “No one asked for your information tonight because I caught them off-guard when I showed up. But that was a one-time thing.”
“Aw, come on, you tryin’ to tell me money doesn’t buy privacy? We both know that ain’t true.”
“Not about this. Not in the eyes of the government. You’re going to need to exist on paper, at least—and it won’t be the basic false identities you’ve been using the past few years,” Tim goes on. “Which is going to cause a whole slew of other problems, because once you’re a legal entity, it’s going to take a hell of a lot to make it go away when this is all over.”
“I’ll just fake my death.”
“Which might just make the wrong people start paying attention—not only to you but the rest of the family. It would be easier if you just stayed alive.”
Jason’s not entirely convinced. “Easier for who?”
“For everyone. The family. You. Even Luisa. What if 20 years from now she develops a hidden genetic condition, or gets into an accident, and you’re the only biological relative she has who can help? Or are you just going to completely wash your hands of her once you hand her off?”
The phrasing grates. “This isn’t me handin' her off. I’m tryin' to make sure she’s got a life, which is somethin' I can’t give her!”
“I’m not criticizing you,” Tim shoots back. “I’m just trying to make a point. Every option has pros and cons. You need to decide which ones you can live with. And which ones will still affect you even when she’s not here anymore.”
Jason folds his arms and scowls, trying to come up with an argument even though he knows the younger man has a point. It would be stupid not to prepare for every eventuality, especially given the way everyone in the Family has had something from their past spring up and bite them in the ass.
But bringing me back to life? It’s not something I ever considered when I got back to Gotham.
Jason Todd-Wayne was dead and would stay dead by his own choice. It was safer for everyone that way, surprise baby included. But then…this could also be a chance for him to start over, even if he didn’t keep her.
And having a name of his own—one that wasn’t tied to the record of a stupid Alley kid that jacked tires, or to Bruce Wayne’s dead son—might be kind of liberating.
And if it offers even a modicum of protection for Isabel’s kid…for his kid…
Jason took a deep breath, ruminating on it a further few seconds, and then nodded. “Fine. Let’s do it.”
Tim blinks as if he had been expecting much more argument than that.
“I’ll get started on that for you tomorrow then,” he says, almost hesitant.
"Great. Now get out of here," Jason snaps. "I've got a few hours of not-sleepin' ahead of me, and I can do that without someone to hold my hand, thanks."
The other man sighs and gets up. "Good night, Jason.

Teen Titans # 26 Recap & Review **SPOILERS**
Tumblr media
Issue # 26 picks up directly after they escape the collapsing building.  Robin takes the team to the Batcave because his source (i.e Red Hood) on the Other has been compromised.  To even the score, they are going to steal the most powerful weapon in Batman’s arsenal…information. Robin tasks Roundhouse with hacking into the Batcomputer so they have full backdoor access to Batman’s criminal database. With that said, Robin leaves the team to handle something upstairs.  The team is upset that Robin is once again keeping secrets from the team, and to Red Arrow’s frustration, Djinn is missing.  Crush tries to cover for her by lying & saying Djinn was checking the perimeter.
At this point of the story, I’ll start referring to everyone by their real names because at the core of it, this issue is about family.  Not the batfamily but the Wayne family.
Upstairs, Damian is walking the halls of the manor when he stops in front of his Paternal Grandparent’s portrait.  He ponders on how they are the reason Batman exists; but to him they are just faces on the wall.  While he’s thinking, Alfred comes up from behind him.  Damian wasn’t expecting Alfred to be home as he usually has tea on Saturday mornings with his friend Arune.
Tumblr media
Alfred mentions that they have been concerned for him.  Damian shrugs off any concerns from Bruce.  At this point the pleasantries are over and Alfred tells Damian that he should not take things that do not belong to him.  Damian tries to deny it but Alfred does not let up.  Whatever he took has the ability to hurt Jason and Alfred will not allow him to leave with it.  At this, Damian gets angry and asks Alfred why he is defending Jason.  Alfred responds that Jason is his brother and he would not allow any of them to hurt each other.
Tumblr media
At this point an alarm goes off signifying an intruder in the cave.  Damian tells Alfred he should check on it but he refuses and says the situation is being handled.  We switch to the Teen Titans standing at the Batcomputer while Batman watches from above.  At this point he attacks, leaving the Teen Titans scrambling.
Tumblr media
Back to Alfred and Damian.  Damian tells Alfred to get out of his way & he was going to do what his Father should have done to Jason.  Alfred points his secret agent umbrella at Damian and tells him that Jason has always struggled to figure out his role in this family and he believes that Jason is still struggling with his identity.
Tumblr media
He tells Damian to talk to Jason and that what he perceives as malice might just be miscommunication. Damian tells Alfred he’s not going to fight him in which Alfred responds that he sounds like Bruce.  He said he could never protect Bruce from himself and some lessons are meant to be learnt the hard way.  Damian calls Bruce a fool for the way he has treated the criminals in Gotham and when Alfred tries to rebuke that sentiment, Damian yells “BULL…..this obsession with the moral high ground is why we are losing.  They hit low, we need to hit lower” “If chaos is what it takes to clean the slate then so be it.  We can rebuild from the rubble”.   At this point, Alfred says he not like Bruce…he sounds like Ra’s.  With those words, Damian walks off, passing by portraits of the family, including Jason & Dick.  He pauses to stare at the family portrait over the fire place before moving on.
Tumblr media
As he’s walking back down to the cave, we see that Djinn has been following him.
Tumblr media
Back in the cave, the Teen Titans are losing to Batman.  When Robin shows up, he cuts his head off with a sword.  It was a robot.  Djinn shows up at this moment and Red Arrow asks where she has been. She said she attempted to discover the source of the alarm but Red Arrow says she left before the alarm went off.  Djinn tells her she is mistaken.  Roundhouse informs the team that he has created a back door into the batcomputer and they leave.
Robin is in his secret prison when Red Arrow shows up.  She stops Black Mask from stabbing him.  As they walk, she tells Robin that she told him working with Red Hood was a bad idea.  He defends his decision saying the information he was providing was good.  And she responds “until it wasn’t”.  Robin said that he has always known Red Hood’s true nature but he thought……He couldn’t finish the words.  Red Arrow states that he promised they would take down The Other when she joined the team.  Robin pulls out a box and says Red Hood will no longer be a problem.
Tumblr media
My thoughts…..Damian is in a sunken place.  I honestly didn’t have a problem with the prison because he’s right, Arkham is not cutting it.  Him having a prison is no different from Superman having the Phantom Zone. Damian’s main problem is being disconnected from his family.  He’s not talking to Bruce, Dick doesn’t have his memories and now he’s upset with Jason.  Tim is in Metropolis with his reformed team running around as Robin 2.0 and I have no idea what Duke is doing (who has been shown to get along well with Damian). You can tell he’s hurt at the thought of Jason betraying him.  He couldn’t even tell Red Arrow why he thought Jason would never betray him.  He didn’t think it was possible b/c he’s his brother.  With Bruce and Dick no longer being active in his life, he was hoping Jason could fill that void as his older brother.  I think he’s so disillusioned by family right now he’s not listening to Alfred or giving Jason the benefit of a doubt.
Tumblr media
Djinn is a possible suspect as a mole.  Djinn has been highly suspect the last couple of issues.  I’m not saying it’s malicious (someone else could literally be controlling her right now) but she is not trustworthy.  She is playing Damian and Crush.  The only person who sees through her charade is Red Arrow and she scared her straight.
Tumblr media
Robin also has to consider that he has a prison at his base of operations.  One of them may be the informant.
Lastly Jason could have just gotten some bad intel, meaning no harm to Damian or his team.  Alfred tried to warn him that he will regret what he’s about to do to Jason. When the truth comes out he probably will regret it because Jason was the only family he was in constant communication with.  This issue just proves that Damian needs his family in his life, especially Bruce, because he is going down the wrong path. I didn’t see it at first but now I do.  Thankfully we only have to wait 5 days before we conclude this Jason issue.

Overall 6-Good

AU Questions: If an older Batman secretly made a young adult clone of himself, with all his knowledge and personality traits, and trained him for ten years in a hidden cave until the clone has enough experience to be on par to how he was in his prime, how would the Bat Family react if a hologram of an elderly Bruce (Batman) told them this shortly after the actual Bruce died? And what happens if the hologram told them that they have to watch over the clone?
I AM SO SORRY THIS TOOK ME SO LONG TO ANSWER!!! Omg, my first ask in idk how many years and you hit me with a tough one. I'm gonna try to break this down by batkid with an extra added bonus of Alfred. Though considering that we are suggesting that Bruce has died of old age in this AU, Alfred has probably long since passed. (But really, he's probably immortal right?)
ANYWAY
Dick: I think Dick would naturally step up and want to take the most responsibility, but not right away. I think part of him would feel hurt that he didn't know about this, and also confused/angry as to why Bruce would want to leave "himself" behind in this way. Dick is seems to be one of those in the family most prepared for the natural outcome and progression of the hero-ing gig, so seeing a younger Bruce, at this point maybe even younger than himself would throw him for a BIG loop. He would need adjusting. Dick and Bruce were the first team, and Bruce took him in before the others. Despite their setbacks during a period of Dick's transition years, I think eventually Dick would see this as an opportunity to step up for the man who stepped up for him? But it would take him a BIG adjustment period. He tries to stay positive throughout it all. He knows it wasn't Bruce's intention to upset any of them, so he sets an example for the others. If this was Bruce's final wish, he doesn't want to let him down.
Babs: Something tells me that Babs would be someone who might have been let in on the secret before everyone else. She's been helping him train, and she helped Bruce set up the hologram. Hell she seems like the one that would call the meeting that would break the news to everyone. Initially I think she would have thought it was a bad idea for Bruce to secretly "preserve" himself like this, but she would eventually agree to help him. She knows Bruce only wants the best for Gotham, and it has nothing to do with his lack of trust in his children to take care of their city, but he wants to leave behind more than that. Gotham needs more than just Batman, they need a symbol of everlasting protection. He wants to ensure safety long after he's gone.So she helps him in the training and in keeping this secret until it was ready to share with the others.
Jason: Jason takes it pretty hard. For me, Bruce in his prime lined up with a lot with his time with Jason. That's not to say he declined afterwards, but he had established himself pretty well by then. Jason is looking at the man he felt betrayed by. He worked very hard to come to terms with what happened to himself, and to forgive Bruce for his death. This is a major setback from him. Looking once again at the man that he kept hoping he would see in front of him in the seconds before his death, looking in his eyes and feeling the wave of anger...Jason stays away for a while. With a lot of encouragement, he eventually starts coming around again, but he never fully warms up to Bruce 2.0, and rarely looks him directly in the eyes,
Tim: Tim also takes it kind of hard but in a different way. Tim has experience a LOT of loss. (not that the others haven't) Seeing Bruce again almost as he remembers him kinda puts him into a state of shock. He's confused, much like Dick, as to why he wasn't let in on this. He could have helped. Despite it, Tim almost clings to Bruce 2.0 in a way. He works with him, and monitors him, almost testing to see how accurate of a copy it is. He finds himself forgetting that it's not REALLY Bruce, and it hurts when he remembers. Tim knows the pain of trying to make a copy of someone he lost, he didn't plan on how it would feel if he ever succeeded. Sometimes he brushes against Bruce 2.0 on "accident" to make sure he's actually there.
Steph: Steph is definitely weirded out. She thinks Bruce is pretty insane for wanting to leave an exact replica of himself behind. She always thought Bruce was a little unpredictable, but this is a smack in the face that's hard for her to wrap her mind around. She though, like Barbara, understands his reasoning. She sees the others reactions over time as well, and learns to accept Bruce 2.0, and actually ends up treating him the most normal out of everyone. She jokes with him, and includes him in "family" stuff. She also works with he and Tim on occasion. She recognizes the subtle pieces of him that aren't an EXACT copy, Bruce could never fully program those kind of tiny details in. Not the things that made him human. But this new Bruce 2.0 has potential, and he will learn.
Cass: Cass is pretty wary and untrusting at first. She buried her father, she mourned him. She tests him as well, looking not for mistakes, but things she missed while he was alive. She is the first to hug him. He has Bruce's memories, and it happened on a night when he was talking about things in the past. Babs helps her adjust to clone overall and talks with her a lot about why Bruce did it, and what it was like building the clone. Cass finds it comforting and overall trusts him eventually. With her initial wariness, it takes her a while to speak with him. When they are alone at first, Bruce 2.0 does more of the talking, but eventually she talks with him more and ends up training with him on a fairly regular basis.
Damian: Damian rejects the notion that this is his father. He is upset that Bruce would consider a substitute something that all of them would just accept. It takes a lot of convincing to warm him up to the idea, but he doesn't call him "father" or "Bruce." Initially he defers to him as "Clone", but does slip up on one night without realizing it. He misses Bruce, but does not want a replacement. He sees that Bruce spent a lot of time building an exact copy. The training, the knowledge, the personality...all there, but it isn't enough. It never will be. Bruce is gone and he cannot be brought back.
BONUSES
Duke: (I don't know much about Duke so bear with me.) Duke doesn't necessarily agree with Bruce's decision to clone himself. He knows that Bruce understands the risk and inevitability of the crime fighting gig, so it's hard for him to wrap around Bruce wanting a way to almost "cheat death." But understanding the symbol that Batman represents to Gotham, he accepts the idea in theory. He looks at Gotham as a whole's reaction to Batman's return, and settles into a more appreciative mindset eventually. Part of him didn't think Bruce would have left without one last trick up his sleeve anyway.
Alfred: Assuming Alfred is still alive and assuming he knows about this as well, I think he would initially try to talk Bruce out of this. The Batman will be carried on by the other, it shouldn't be carried on like this. Alfred knows that in a way, this is a reflection of the fear Bruce still has in his heart. The fear of his own death, the fear of not being able to protect his family after he's gone. It's not just leaving behind a protector for Gotham, he's leaving behind a protector for everyone he loves. Alfred knows this isn't the way to help those who have already probably mourned his loss, but Bruce is adamant. Alfred helps him, but regularly reminds him that after he's already gone, it might not be received in the way he thinks. Alfred doesn't talk much about how he helped Bruce with the others. The pain of seeing his son before him after his own mourning is very difficult for him to deal with. But he cares for Bruce 2.0 fiercely, often wondering if he did enough for his own son while he was alive, and how he would have done any of it differently.
OK YOWZA. I hope that was what you wanted, this took me a WHILE and I'm not fully confident ont his because this was very very VERY hard to answer. Gauging each of them individually (and yes, I'm sure there's some I've left out) was harder than I thought it would be. For some reason especially Dick? Idk anyway, hope this was enjoyable at least.
People are free to correct me on anything that might be inconsistent with canon or if they have a differing opinion.
Thanks for the ask @frostbite883 !!!

[Podcast Ep 4: Q/A 2.0]
[“Spoiler Alert Podcast” theme song plays. There’s a yawn on Stephanie’s side.]
[Stephanie:] “Good-morning students and lovely listeners. It is currently…”
[Dick:] “Around 10 am.”
[Stephanie:] “Yes. Around that. As you can tell, we sound mighty tired.”
[Dick:] “That’s because we did not sleep. At all.”
[Stephanie:] “Eehh yep. We’re still in Arkham Asylum, waiting for breakfast to heat up and well, why not do a podcast for ten minutes while we wait?”
[Dick:] “An excellent idea, absolutely.”
[Stephanie:] “So, erm, after the end of the last one, we immediately went to the solarium and-”
[Dick:] “Wait no, Steph don’t continue, there’s a question for that.”
[Stephanie:] “Oh, right right. So anyways, like Dick said earlier, we didn’t sleep at all. Weeee stayed up all night doing whatever.”
[Jason:] [In the background] “We partied like there’s no tomorrow.”
[Damian:] [Next to Dick] “That’s what you always do, Todd.”
[Jason:] “I came here for a good time, not a long time, Damian.”
[Stephanie:] “Okay. Shut up. Where was I? Right, we uhh. We stayed up, played some games too. At some point there was… booze involved?”
[Dick:] “I mean with Jason here, there’s always gonna be booze involved.”
[Jason’s victory whoop can be heard.]
[Stephanie:] “Okay but playing hide-and-clap with booze was pretty fricken hilarious.”
[Dick:] “We lost Tim three times. Three.”
[Damian:] “At least Drake can find his way back on its own, unlike Todd and you.”
[Dick:] “Don’t expose me on air, Damian!”
[Stephanie:] [Trying to do an imitation of Damian] “Too late, Grayson.”
[Tim:] [Closeby] “That was bad.”
[Stephanie:] “I know. But let’s continue. We haaave some of this week’s questions right here.” [a second of silence] “I’m wavin’ my phone, it’s in here. Dick’s got his phone too, he’s waving it-”
[Dick:] “I am.”
[Stephanie:] “He has it there. We’re ready to rock and roll. Will you do the honors, Dick?”
[Dick:] “Question one comes from an anonymous listener. ‘Is the Wayne Manor haunted?’”
[Literally everyone at the same time, but Stephanie and Dick’s voices are more prominent:] “Yes.”
[Dick:] “‘And if so, do you have any experiences you wanna tell us?’”
[Stephanie:] “What a fun question. But yes, the manor is haunted and even I don’t live there, but I have a couple experiences.”
[Dick:] “Care to tell us one?”
[Stephanie:] “I was having a sleepover with Cassandra, who’s actually here with us today. She’s just quiet. Say ‘hey’ Cass.”
[Cassandra, quietly in the back:] “Hi.”
[Stephanie:] “Heh. So yeah, sleepover. And it was like three am in the morning and I wanted to get some hot cocoa for the two of us when I was walking down the hallway and saw a figure walk out of an open room. And it was dark, so I thought it was one of you guys, but when I kept walking closer, the figure turned out to be a little girl wearing a white dress.”
[Dick:] “I don’t recall ever seeing a girl in a white dress? Much less see any of that in paintings around the manor?”
[Stephanie:] “I know, that’s what I was thinking!”
[Dick:] “So then what did you do?”
[Stephanie:] ”I kept walking.”
[Dick:] “You kept walking?”
[Stephanie:] “I mean, I wanted my hot cocoa, Dick. I kept walking and I didn’t turn around and I thought to myself ‘if this girl’s gonna follow and kill me, can she at least have the decency to make sure I don’t die in a dumb pose?’”
[Dick:] “Oh my god, Steph!”
[Stephanie:] “I don’t want the cops to take photos with my face like-” [A beat of silence. Dick snorts.] “-that, you know?”
[Dick:] “Fair enough, I suppose.” [He chuckles] “But I still don’t understand the little girl?”
[Unintelligible sound coming from Damian.]
[Stephanie:] “What?”
[Damian:] [Closer and easier to understand.] “I said, what if the little girl was just Drake coming out for another mug of his coffee.”
[Laughter coming from Jason.]
[Tim:] [To the side] “Funny, real funny.”
[Stephanie:] “What about the dress then? There was a white dress.”
[Damian:] ”Maybe he had his bathrobe. It’s a white one. Drake wears weird clothing when staying home anyway.”
[Stephanie laughs.]
[Dick:] “Did the girl say anything?”
[Stephanie:] “She was looking for ‘Mommy.’”
[Everyone else:] “That’s Tim.”
[More laughter from Stephanie. It sounds like she’s turned away from the mic.]
[Tim:] “You won’t be laughing when I’ve poisoned your coffee.”
[Jason:] “Please do.”
[Dick:] “Anyone else? Experiences?”
[Jason:] “I know there’s a cool ghost chillin in the library. I call him Carl. He says hi when I read there for more than two hours.”
[Damian:] “That’s Father’s great-uncle, Graham.”
[Jason:] “Whatever, he looks like a Carl to me.”
[Cassandra:] [Quietly next to Stephanie:] “Ghost cat.”
[Stephanie:] “Oh right.”
[Dick:] “There’s a ghost cat? How come I never saw that one?”
[Damian:] “You’re obviously always way too busy texting the Gordon girl.”
[Cassandra:] “Can feel her sometimes brush on your leg.”
[Stephanie:] “Ooh. Have you felt her?”
[Cassandra:] “Yes. I call her Minnie.”
[Damian:] “That’s great-grandmother’s. She’s actually a ‘he’ and his name’s Licorice.”
[Jason:] “What’s up with this family and food names, I swear.”
[Damian:] “I name all my pets with actual names. Blame Grayson. He’s the one who called the turtle ‘Nugget’.”
[Dick:] “Hey, no one stopped me!”
[Stephanie:] “Next question! We’re getting too off-topic, remind me never to have you all together in one episode again. We all know how this is gonna go down.”
[Damian and Jason:] “Death.”
[Dick:] “We already talked about it, and the answer is no. Now, the second question.”
[Stephanie:] “Question deux from a ‘@simphyun’. Oh my god, ya’ll are really putting your handles on the name portion?”
[Dick:] “Smart, smart.”
[Stephanie:] “‘What’s a hotspot for a spooky date? Not really haunted or anything, and not the cemetery?’”
[Jason:] “Oh, I know.”
[Dick:] “You don’t date.”
[Jason:] “Doesn’t mean I don’t know where the best spots are. So, there’s this hill next to the cemetery. It’s not in the cemetery, it’s a bit more further, but it’s like a popular make-out point spot. Complete with a spooky tree too.”
[Dick:] “That’s the best spot?”
[Jason:] “You got a better one?”
[Dick:] “The roofs?”
[Jason:] “That’s not spooky. The only one who’d get scared here is you.”
[Stephanie:] “Ok, there’s another question anyway. ‘Did you guys find anything, ghosts, spectres, while in Arkham?’ by @MucousMembrane.”
[Dick:] “Ah, as a matter of fact, we did.”
[Cassandra:] [In the background] “Tim?”
[Tim:] [Rushing closer to the mic.] “I got evidence! Audio evidence!”
[Stephanie:] “Oh boy.” [A bit of shuffling on her side.]
[Tim:] “Here! I had a spirit box session in the solarium.”
[Jason:] “He watches one season of Buzzfeed Unsolved and suddenly he’s a ghostbuster.”
[Tim:] “Sh!”
[He plays the recording. There’s just some static sound before Tim’s voice can be heard:] “Is there anyone here with us?”
[Two seconds of silence before an unintelligible sound coming from the box is heard.]
[Tim:] “See? Evidence! It said ‘the’.”
[Jason:] [Talking nearby] “It just sounds like a fart, Tim.”
[Tim:] “You’re a fart.”
[Dick:] “Jay, don’t stab him.”
[Stephanie:] “Tim. Tim, we heard literally nothing but static.”
[Tim:] “That’s not static! It’s very clear, why can’t you guys pay more attention?”
[Dick:] “We are and well… Tim that’s not very convincing.”
[Stephanie:] “Anywaaayy, for those who were with us last episode, we were excited to go into the solarium because of a secret room that may or may not exist. Aaaand it did!” [She sounds excited] “Aaaaand we found a ritual chamber! For a satanic cult! WE DID IT!” [Sudden noise, like someone got up]
[Dick:] “And she’s dancing.” [He snorts] “We had a picnic on the altar.”
[Stephanie:] “And we used the ouija board Jason got us, of course.”
[Dick:] “Nothing happened.”
[Stephanie:] “Sadly.” [Sound of someone sitting back down.] “But it was still fun!”
[Dick:] “I think breakfast is about to be done heating up soon. We have one more question. From an anonymous, ‘what’s the best/worst pick up line you’ve heard? Halloween version, if there are any.’”
[Cassandra:] [Quietly, she sounds far] “I got one.”
[Stephanie:] “You do? C’mere.” [A second or two of silence.]
[Cassandra:] “Are you a ghost, Steph?”
[Stephanie:] “Me?”
[Cassandra:] “Because you’re boo-tiful.”
[Stephanie:] “Cass!”
[Dick:] “Oh my god that was the cutest thing ever.”
[Jason:] [Far from the mic] “Cassandra, you’re as sweet as candy, I can just eat you up.”
[Stephanie:] “Hey! Find someone else to practice your pick up lines!”
[Damian:] [To the side] “Grayson, are you writing these down?”
[Dick:] “What? No? I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
[Tim:] [Next to Dick] “I like you a skele-ton.”
[Stephanie:] “You’re a total zom-bae.”
[Jason:] [Closer to the mic] “Won’t you be-” [To the tune of Alicia Keys and Usher’s “My Boo”] “-my boo?”
[Stephanie:] “That was terrible.”
[Jason:] “You’re terrible.”
[Damian:] “Grayson, you ARE writing these down!”
[Dick:] “No I’m not!”
[Tim:] “Oh my god he’s gonna tell those to Babs.”
[Stephanie:] “That’s not even a question.”
[Cassandra:] “If you were a monster, you’d be Franken-fine.”
[Jason:] “Just slay me already, Cass.”
[Stephanie:] “You are! He wrote it down!”
[Dick:] “Let me live!”
[Tim:] “You know she’s probably listening to the podcast.”
[Dick:] “I…” [sigh]
[A phone chimes.]
[Stephanie:] “It’s Babs on the chat. She says you’re a dork.”
[Jason:] “You’re a dork!”
[Dick:] “Thaaaaat’s all we have for you this morning, folks. Please? Can we spare what’s left of my dignity?”
[Stephanie:] [Snorts] “You never had any to begin with.”
[Dick:] “Funny. Tune in on Thursday where we’ll cover the events that will unfold during the Wayne Halloween party the night before!”
[Stephanie:] “And keep the questions rolling!”
[Dick:] “This podcast, along with last night’s podcast, was brought to you by Gotham High’s very own Paranormal Club.”
[Stephanie:] “Again, a very very big thank you to the Paranormal Club. Thank you for letting us use your equipment and helping us with the research. As always, love and-”
[Jason:] [Screaming, he sounds far away] “Sparkles!”
[End of Episode 4.]

The Comfort of A Mother
Awesomest of Them All 2.0
Part 11 of 13
Word Count: 1558
Batman x Batmom!Reader
You know what the bat family needs? Someone to pull them together and give them all the love they deserve. Who better to do that than you? An author rising to stardom in Gotham who catches the eye of a billionaire with your standoffish attitude at a huge social gathering. You are yourself and never pretend to be more or less than that. Plus you're the most stubborn person in the world, refusing to let good things go without reason.
This is a rewrite of my story Awesomest of Them All, I wanted to see how much I've improved over 3 years.
As soon as you and your family arrived back home Bruce dove head first into this case, sometimes going for a few days without talking to you more than once or twice. This was usually how things went when there was something big going on, and normally you'd make him pay attention to you at least one every few days. But this case felt different, you felt like he needed this time to work on this one. On top of that you were in the middle of editing another book you'd written so you were able to do something to keep yourself from feeling completely ignored.
It was for weeks on end that life went on like this, and you let it go on for a while, until you had almost finished with editing and noticed that it had been more than a few nights in a row that you had fallen asleep and woken up in bed alone. So tonight after three nights of sleeping alone, it reaches midnight and you make your way down to the cave, knowing your husband had been coming back for Damian to be able to get a reasonable amount of sleep because he had school on the morning, and you wait for him. When they finally arrive back home you're waiting for them, in your pajamas, leaning against the desk of the computer. You had already sent Tim up to bed and volunteered to take over while he got some sleep.
When they get home you give Damian a soft smile as you say, "Sleep well."
He nods in reply and makes his way to change before heading upstairs.
After he's gone you turn to face Bruce, "So, are you going to come to bed dressed like that, or would you like to change?" You cross your arms and give him a look to let him know you're serious about this. "Because as your wife I demand at least 16 hours of your full undivided attention, because it's been weeks."
"Alright, dear," with that he scoops you up in his arms and carries you to your bedroom, still fully dressed as Batman. Once you both make it upstairs he goes and changes into sweatpants and no shirt before coming and lying next to you where he sat you on the bed.
You can tell that he's tired since after he lies down he pulls you against his chest, wrapping his arms and legs around you protectively and doesn't even say anything to you. "I love you," you state and give him a kiss before snuggling fully into him.
--^--^--
You wake up to Bruce running his hand through your hair, and you open your eyes to see his face in front of yours. "Hi, handsome," you say tiredly.
He smiles softly and gives you a kiss, "good morning beautiful."
You smile and roll over so you're lying on top of him, and glance at the clock. "Well, it looks like I still get another four hours of your attention." With that you look back at him and kiss him deeply, and her slides his hands up your shirt against your back, holding you as close as possible, just wanting to feel your body.
--^--^--
A few hours later as you're lying against his side and tracing your fingers on his chest, he says, "Honey, there's something I need to tell you."
You tilt your head just enough to look at his face, "yeah?"
"The first night I didn't come to bed. It was because we were finally able to track down the Redhood. And, well, I'm not sure how to say this any better, The Redhood is Jason. Jason is alive."
You can hardly believe what it is he's telling you, you're just frozen there staring at him until finally you get yourself to ask, "Are you sure?"
"Yes, thats why I've waited this long to tell you. I needed to be sure for you."
Tears form in your eyes, as you look at your husband. He was serious very often but you had rarely ever seen him this serious, the last time you'd seen this look on his face was as he said 'I do'. He kisses you gently, and you can hardly believe it, your baby who you thought you had lost for these few long years was alive. "Why, do I feel like there is something to this you haven't told me? There has to be a reason he hasn't come here."
"There is... I don't know yet how he came back but he did. He's still recovering his memory. And, he's not the same as he was when we lost him, he's killing people... and I confronted him about it," he looks almost ashamed as he says the last part.
"So, now he's mad at you?" you guess, and his slight nod is enough of an answer for you. "Thats alright, we just need patience. You saw what it took for Damian to even come this far, for Dick to finally come back to us. We'll figure it out, him being alive just means we have that chance again," with that you kiss him to let him know you're serious.
--^--^--
You and Bruce had been invited to the policeman's ball for the GCPD and Bruce wasn't able to come so you had gone for the both of you, ugh. The ball was over so you were heading out to your car that was in the parking garage. As you're walking you keep thinking you hear another set of footsteps. They're subtle and anyone who wasn't married to the most paranoid man in the world wouldn't think it was anything, but you did. You kept walking confidently, trying to figure out where it was they were coming from, since there was no one else out here right now since you were leaving early.
As you get to your car the lights in that part of the garage go out. You freeze not moving to unlock your car, just waiting for whoever it was that had been following you to make the first move. You might be wearing a fancy dress and be in heels but that doesn't mean you can't kick ass if you need too. The first move you make is pulling your heels off, giving yourself a weapon, and making it easier in case you needed to run.
Theres a shuffle behind you and you spin around, only to be facing who you could only assume was Redhood, judging by his choice of headgear. You stay still, waiting for him to make the first move, praying that if it really was Jason he'd say something. Slowly he raises his hands, showing they're empty, and removes his helmet, and a mask from under that. Your breath hitches when you see him, he was older, he looked tired, but there was no mistaking him, "Jason," it comes out barely audible.
"Hi, Mama," thats it. That's all he says.
You pause for a split second before dropping your shoes, and taking a step towards him, holding your arms open, asking if it's alright for you to hug him. He closes the rest of the gap as soon as he sees that. And as soon as he's in your arms thats when you break, thats when you start to sob. You both stand there hugging each other tightly, and as you do you can feel him shaking slightly, but you don't say anything, knowing he just needs to let it out.
Eventually both of you pull away slightly, and you look up at him, he'd gotten so tall, but that doesn't stop you from giving him a motherly kiss on the forehead and holding his cheeks so you can look in his eyes. "Can I ask what happened, or not right now?" You ask this quietly as you look at his eyes, they aren't blue anymore they're an eerie shade of green, and they look hurt, he has this deep pain behind them that isn't just going to go away over night.
"Not right now, please, I just wanted to see you."
"Thats alright, my Jay-bear."
He seems a little startled by the nickname, it had been years since you'd called him that, since anyone had.
"What?" You say raising an eyebrow, "you know you'll always be my little Jay-bear even if you are taller than me now. Is it alright if I tell Bruce I saw you, or would you rather I didn't?" You ask this without explaining why you'd even wonder this.
A small smile comes to his face and he hugs you tightly once again. "You can, it'll be better than him figuring it out himself," a pause before letting go, "I should probably get going... I'll see you around though right ma?"
"Of course you will, my phone number hasn't changed it you need anything. And I can keep a secret at least for a while, so don't go sending me your address, but if you tell me when and where we can meet up." With that you hug him one last time and watch as he puts his mask and helmet back on and he makes sure you get into your car safely and as you head home he heads off into the night.
