The Joker was apprehended, sitting on the ground as Batman guarded him, but the kid--"Bruce Wayne's newest ward, how tragic! Hehehe!"--was nowhere to be found. Nightwing and Red Hood desperate searched the warehouse until a shuffling noise grabbed their attention.
A kid, black haired just like the kid in the Joker's broadcast, crawling out of a pile of boxes. "Is it over?" the boy asked quietly.
Nightwing guided him to the only exit, unfortunately walking past the boy's own kidnapper. "Yeah, kid. It's over. Come on-"
Like a shot, the boy rushed the Joker and kicked him right in the balls.
The Joker wheezed like a dying squeaky toy. Red Hood froze. Nightwing immediately snatched the boy up by the armpits, but all that did was give the boy the height to attack again, punting Joker in the jaw. The clown went down and cracked his head on the floor. He did not get back up.
There was a moment of silence before Red Hood roared with laughter, his helmet distorting the sound.

Tim Drake, Danny’s human identity in this universe, is a boy trapped in an empty manor with absentee parents a low socialization.
Danny Phantom, on the other hand, is Gotham City himself. He could fly, he could interact, he could be the heart of his city like he needs to be. From the lowest of the lows to the highest of the highs, Danny loved the people that were his. Well, most of them. Child molesters often found themselves crossing paths with a vengeful, mostly recovered Robin.
He is the city, he is Gotham. And with his status came more changes, ones he welcomes more readily that the changes that came with his title of Ghost King.
Being a city couldn’t change him as much as it would have, had he gained the title before becoming King. But now, his shadows are dark, curling around his shoulders and curling away what little light he allowed into his city. His skin, having once glittered green with stars and galaxies and black holes, clouds over just a bit. It gives him a misty quality. His hands become sharper, stronger. Gargoyle-like. He wonders what he looked like to Batman, holding his broken son cradled safely to himself. He’s crueler, now, but that’s easily balanced by his years of being a vigilante himself.
He loves these changes. They are loved in a way changing into Dead Danny Phantom and Ghost King Danny Phantom will never be loved. And even though his human features are different in a way he never had to deal with as Danny Fenton, because it was his body that he died in, Danny finds himself enjoying the distinction. And he enjoys when they combine, because in the end, they’re just facets of who he is, now.
Gotham flies through his city, and enjoys it as a whole. A bigger picture.
Tim Drake walks through his city, and enjoys it as an individual. The smaller picture.
Being Gotham reminds him of what he had to protect as a whole. A duty he gladly bears.
Being Tim reminds him of the people he’s meant to help, the stories he doesn’t get as Danny. A connection he gladly encouraged.
Gotham is power. He is duty, he is fierce love. But for the good of the whole.
Tim is kindness. He is choice, he is gentle devotion. But for the good of the individual.
He’s both.
Danny. Danny Phantom.
Phantom glides through the smog.
The ebb and flow of people is his life blood, the thrumming of life and death and fear and hate and love and everything the city is sung through him and Danny sung back with everything he had. Danny is the gargoyles perched high, watching everything. He’s the stone curves of the sewers, sheltering his rats and mutant murderous crocodile man. The is no love comparable to a city’s mutant rats and their sewers. Ancients, he loves his city.
It would be nice, Danny thinks wryly, if they’d love me enough to stop blowing up buildings.
The sting of destruction to his city would hurt much more, had he not also been King. Regardless, every time there’s an explosion or general large scale property damage, he feels a stab of mild pain. Catching sight of his Bats, Danny stays invisible while following them. He wills the shadows to cradle them, to hide them further. He softens the stone, the mortar, the steel, just a hint. Their footsteps, silent and aided by the city himself. The wind steal away the noise of the grappling guns, so when Danny’s favorite vigilante duo (a fascination he shared with original text!Tim) broke into the building, not a single soul aside them are aware of the intrusion.
Batman skulks across the support beams, Robin following with an anticipatory grin. Danny floats, invisible, undetectable, besides them.
“C’mon!” A goon grunts beneath them. Danny tilts his head. A… Dresden Aberthy. Wow. That’s one hell of a name.
“Hurry it up! Boss said Batman’s going to get here soon!” Another goon- Robbert- said, waving around a gun like a moron at the terrified hostages. Danny could tell half of them were part of a tour bus, mostly because the other half were his Gothamites, bored and unfairly used to this kind of thing. The tourists… He’s fond of them, having kept track of their progress through his city. He doesn’t care for intruders on his haunt, but tourists like to appreciate his city and its doubtlessly Sam-approved architecture. Most of them. Rude tourists get pigeon shit on their heads and food stolen by his lovely rats.
He’ll have to make sure none of the bullets hit the tourists. He likes this group, even if he has enough awareness to question their sanity in choosing his city to sightsee. He knows it’s a mess. It’s Danny’s mess though, so whatever.
——
All said and done, Batman whoops ass and Robin rescues the hostages just fine. Danny grins proudly as Robin knees a guy in the crotch and punches a lady’s throat in order to incapacitate them.
After they tied the goons up, and interrogated them for Two Face’s plans- explode a quarter of Gotham to distract the Bats from his diabolical plan to murder half of Gotham’s judges and lawyers that have been going after him and his people- the duo retreats to the rooftop.
“Didja think Gotham saw that?”
Batman goes to reply, but Danny beats him to it, coming back to visibility with a wind touched laugh.
“I did, little Robin.” Danny smiles, fangs and shadows on display as his vigilantes startles and whips around to face him. “You did well.”
Robin- Jason!- gapes at him.
“I see you’ve recovered, little bird.”
“Gotham! Oh. Wow. People always said Gotham was a lady, but you’re a guy!”
“It was a Lady,” Danny confirmed. “It’s complicated, little bird.”
“So, you’re really… you’re really Gotham? The city?”
Danny looks at Robin with the weight of the city behind his gaze.
“I think you know the answer to that. But yes, I am your city.”
“Constantine,” Batman starts. “He said that city spirits only appear in times of grave danger.”
There is deference in his words. Batman is Batman for Gotham, after all. Danny just wishes he could… well, be friendlier with his knights. May this is a good place to start.
Are you in danger? What threats do we need to handle? How can I help? How can I protect? Please, let me help.
His Knight always felt more than he ever says. Danny smiles.
“Was Robin’s wellbeing not in grave danger?” Danny floats closer. “I am your city. You protect me, it is only right that I protect you, no?”
“Thank you for saving me, Gotham!” Robin’s grin is a touch more sincere than usual.
“Of course, Robin. You are loved.”
“Is there… a reason you’ve shown yourself today? Gotham.”
Danny chuckles, understanding the awkwardness that was Batman addressing someone with deference.
“I wanted to tell you that you did well tonight. Those tourists weren’t harmed in the slightest. Well done.” Danny gave Robin a playful but sincere thumbs up.
“They weren’t a match for us!”
“No, they weren’t.” Danny ruffles Robin’s hair, noticing how still he grew at it. “Robin was too fast for them. That maneuver at the end was masterfully executed.”
Batman clears his throat and Danny resists the urge to laugh at him. It would be mean.
“Thank you, for the… praise.”
Fuck it. He’s played well behaved for too long.
“Yes. I read in child rearing books that positive reinforcement is necessary for healthy development. You did well, Batman.”
Despite trolling Batman- and somehow holding a straight (and hopefully wise face)- he meant every word.
Allowing a small smile to slip at Robin’s chortles and Batman’s quiet sputtering, Danny moves on.
“Where is Nightwing, Batman?”
“He’s still on a mission...”
“If it is awkward to refer to me as Gotham, Phantom will do.”
Batman dips his head once. “In space, with the Teen Titans.”
“I see. Please tell him I request his presence,” Danny barely waits for Batman’s oddly acquiescing agreement before summoning a pigeon.
“Follow her,” Danny instructs the duo. “She’ll lead you to the places with explosives. I will guide you through her, to Harvey Dent.”
Danny winces as another explosion rings out.
“Your face is cracking!” Robin exclaimed, worried. He surged forward to stare at the hairline cracks appearing on Danny’s jaw.
“That would be the explosives. Any damage to the city will be shown on me.”
“Well take care of it.” Batman growled, shoulders straightening once more into an imposing symbol.
“Yeah!”
“I know you will. Stay safe.” Danny disappears, spreading his awareness and directing his Birds to the explosives that will go off the fastest.
Batman and Robin share a glance and leaps off the roof, ready to save their city once more.
——
Tim Drake wanders around Crime Alley, and meets a blonde nine year old trying to throw hands at her absentee Riddler knockoff of a dad. He dodges the brick en route to his face and kicks the guy’s knees out.
“You okay?”
The girl blinks. She stares at her dad, groaning on the dirty street of crime alley, and flicks her gaze back up to Tim, who waits casually.
“Yep. I’m Stephanie. We’re gonna be friends now!”
She grins at him, a baby tooth missing, and Danny melts.
“Heck yeah. Tim!” He introduces himself for the first time in a long time.
Maybe with Stephanie around, he’ll finally use the name Tim? Maybe he’ll get used to it, finally!

Red Huntress has had enough of this shit.
She pulled Wes Weston aside and asked him to tell him her reasoning for thinking Fenton was Phantom, and the little freak was right.
Then she had to convince him to keep his fucking mouth shut, because he would be condemning his classmate to literal torture and execution.
That should have been the end of it, but the Fenton didn't show up at school for a few days.
So she'd gone to check in on him.
Just because they'd broken up didn't mean that she didn't care about the dude.
Jazz was the one who flagged her down, who lashed a bleeding and unconscious Danny to her hoverboard.
Her ex was littered with injuries, bestowed upon him by his own parents.
But she can't take him to her apartment, because then she'd be endangering her dad. She knows the GIW have ways to track ghosts, she can't hide him anywhere in Amity or near any GIW facility at all.
But there's one place they were never able to get their foot into.
It's also where a distant relative of hers lives.
She hasn't seen him since his mom's funeral, but she remembers his dad. His dad was a kind man, who would never turn down a kid in need.
She makes for Dakota City, for the Hawkins family. She'll say hi to Virgil and Uncle Robert, and Dakota has a hero that specializes in electricity; if anyone can fuck up the GIW's sensors, it'll be Static.

Jason *dying his hair black*: you know I started dying my hair before Robin.
Dick: yeah why?
Jason: their's like five red heads in Gotham and I knew as a kid for a fact that one was Ivy and one was Riddler. Then I became Robin to find out the other was Batgirl/Barbra and finally Kate Batman's cousin who's now Batwoman-
Dick: Yeah Red Heads in Gotham are either heroes or villains
Jason: -yeah so I didn't want to draw attention to myself.
Dick: ...Jay?
Jason: what?
Dick: I don't think it worked you've been a hero, villain and now anti-hero.
Jason: ...
Dick:
Jason *slams down color brush*: FUCK

Baby Fenton and Wayne Enterprises
It all started when Danny learned he was to be Vlad's heir for VladCo. And he needed to learn how to be a CEO.
But Danny needed help! He needed a way to help the employees and be a good CEO.
So he asked Clockwork who had the best idea. He threw him through a portal and told him he would be a great CEO once he was out.
In Gotham
Danny landed in Gotham came out of Wayne Enterprises as a toddler. And I just followed the employees on their day to see how they were doing it.
The Wayne employees didn't really do anything when they saw the black hair blue eyed toddler. I was just thinking that Bruce Wayne adopted a new child.
Danny had already spent two months helping the people at Wayne Enterprises. Before Tim notices the toddler in the company, and was pretty confused.
And that was how the company learned he wasn't an adoptive child of Bruce. But that changed as the CEO Bruce saw him.
Welcome to the family of Danny Wayne.
BONUS
A FEW YEARS LATER.
Bruce had already been crying for two hours. Jason: " Why is he crying?" Tim:' Danny said he doesn't want to be an icky Hero but a cool CEO. " Bruce:" I didn't do anything wrong this time…"
Bruce was super happy!
For Danny he already had been a hero and was very happy, as he didn't need to be one any more in Amity Park. Forget it; he will be the best CEO in the world!

Prompt 256
Look, Bruce had had no plans to be a cryptid, he swore.
Vigilante? Yes. Dark abomination of the night? No. And he was, he was technically just a dude. A well trained (and maybe feral) human, but still just a human! Apparently not to the rest of Gotham, and he honestly should have nipped those rumors when they first started.
But like, it was also perfect for his secret identity. No one exactly expected an undead shadow-beast to have a secret identity after all. Or an undead shadow beast and some sort of ghost child to have ones, as the small child- which turned to small children- he’d taken in discovered.
Which, look, he had tried to get Dick (and later Barbara, and Jason, and Tim, and Steph, and by the time of Duke and Cass had given up) to stop. He had tried everything he could but no, nothing could stop them. Literally nothing that he had done could stop any of them, so he had trained them instead.
And the children were all little shits. At least by the fact that Nightwing had lead the newly-made Justice League right where he was perching, continuing to chitter and giggle near hysterically as he ducked behind him.
And somehow they were here to try and recruit him. Great.

Told ya'll I wasn't done with this! 🧩 Today's Batgirl is the genius behind most of the Batfamily's operations, Barbara Gordon! Known to most as the commissioner's daughter. She is also our one and only Oracle who now oversees Gotham with a daredevil past and a know-it-all look in her eyes. Basically, she's like the eldest who's long been tired of everyone's bull, but is always the first to enable them anyway. LMAO. (So like me-) And since I've finally drawn all of the (main) Batgirls at least once, I'm obligated to ask, "Who's your favorite Batgirl and why?" Care to share? 👀 I'd love to know! ^v^ -Bubbly💙

They always try to give the characters the backstories of the Robin they now are, so like
Damian gets Dicks childhood
Tim gets Jasons
Steph is usually a throw away who’s barely mentioned and so is Duke
Jason gets Tim’s Role
And Dick gets Damian’s
That just changes the characters too much though And I hate that they do that because it’s just the same as canon just the characters have different names
Like their personalities we’re definined by the things they went through as Robin
For Damian, becoming Robin was redemption and if you wanna do a reverse robins au, make him quit the hero life entirely because he realizes that he doesn’t need to fight, he needs to live his own life
Tim was the Robin who decided Batman Needs a Robin otherwise he goes over board. Maybe Bruce was extra careful while Damian was Robin to set a good example, but now that Damian’s not by his side, He’s getting carried away
And don’t kill Tim off, he’s the only Robin who hasn’t died. Keep it that way Make Tim be kidnapped by Ras or give him an injury that stops him from fighting.
Dont take away Jasons death, but you can have Bruce training him twice as hard and not letting Jason out of Gotham because of what happened to Tim
And like everyone agrees with Bruce because they can’t have their little baby brother flying the nest In the end it’s what pushes Jason into doing just that to look for his mother on his own Because ‘Bruce would be all smothering”
And then Dick comes along, this Tiny circus child who brings light back into Bruce’s life after Jasons death
Like, I need someone to do a reverse robins au right, and I need someone to include Steph, Duke and Cass in their Reverse Robins AUs too

I think the Robins should have a “Robin for a Day”program. It starts with Tim after he gets fed up with the YJ team always complaining about how he acts.
Kon: Robin, you seriously need to loosen up a bit more. Chill, the whole world ain’t out to get ya
Tim, has not revealed his identity yet: This is what I’ve been trained to do. How about you spend a day with Batman, and then we’ll see who’s “paranoid”
Bart: bet
Tim somehow manages to manipulate convince Bruce that it is a good idea to let Bart be Robin for a night. Something something more training always better something something get him off my back please.
Bart goes out that night and wrecks Gotham’s shit
Tim is delighted by the efficiency. Bruce acknowledges that Bart was very useful and also is never allowed in Gotham again without explicit and detailed permission
And then the rest of YJ wants their turn. And it goes… well? They’re less rude about Tim’s Everything, at least. Dick hears about all of this going on and is like wait, my friends deserve a night too :( so the Titans and ex-Titans all get to run around with Batman for a night. Bruce treats them all just like he would Robin.
Eventually it’s like a rite of passage. You want to be a kid hero? Alright, I’m calling Batman ya little shit. Survive a night with him and then we’ll see how it goes.

Ghost King vs Gotham
King Phantom knew he needed to step in and deal with Gotham. The wanton murder in that city meant that souls kept entering the Infinite Realms. Lack of space for those souls was not the issue. It was the pleas and cries from those souls that was the issue. Many of them wanted their killers dead or many of the villains in that city dead so their family members were safe. And even Walker demanded to condemn the crooked cops.
It was all a major headache and the biggest headache of all was Lady Gotham herself. She was stubborn and believed her Knights were doing what was best for the city. All despite the protest from the souls that came from the city.
Some even demanded that her Knights be condemned. Mainly Batman because he allowed those lunatics to run around killing them. Nightwing because children tried emulating him when they saw a kid their age fighting crime ( the lucky ones were killed straight away). Red Hood for selling drugs, not killing the major villains and getting innocent bystanders killed in his war against crime. Even the little Robin head was wanted because of his past.
Danny didn't want to step in to deal with matter but he knew he had to. So Danny had Lady Gotham step down as the city spirit and had his spies locate every crooked cop, politicians, heroes and villains. Once everyone was accounted for, he had them all captured and teleported to his courtroom to be judged.

Jason Todd, Son of Sally Jackson
Jason Todd is Sally Jackson’s Biological Child.
Jason has already become Red Hood but hasn’t revealed his identity to Bruce and the Batfam yet. Sally hasn’t married Gabriel Ugliano yet. Percy is 6 years old.
After reuniting, Sally & Jason bond over their violent sense of justice/self-defense and Sally learns combat from Jason to protect both her sons with deadly force.
After learning Jason’s identity as Red Hood and his reasoning behind becoming a Drug Lord, she becomes Jason’s business partner that co-leads his gang under the codename ‘Queen’.
Queen & Red Hood become extremely well-known protectors of children and abused single parents, opening many parent & children shelters funded by their gang.
Percy is the mob’s baby brother, ‘Guppy,’ because of growing up the son and brother of Gotham’s most successful crime lords. They always made sure he hid his identity with a hoodie and gas mask to disguise his voice with the bonus of protecting him from Joker, Scarecrow, & Poison Ivy’s attacks.
After receiving Medusa’s head from Percy, Sally makes a new “statue” every month or so. She contacts abused single parents, kills their abusers with the abused’s consent, and gives 3/4 of the money she makes to the parent. This “charity sculpting” is allegedly as a favor to her fellow “grieving” single parents. Weirdly enough, she still ends up killing Gabriel Ugliano, despite never marrying him.

Maddie, Danny and Jazz Slade Jazz x Dick
After Danny turned Phantom, Maddie and Jack saw him out of the portal. They just thought he had awoken his metagene, and Maddie left to call her father. That was why Deathstroke was in Amity Park. And started to train Danny. Making sure the boy is ready for it and doesn't hurt the rest. But imagine his confusion as Slade learned he somehow became a hero of Amity Park. Yes, he was a hero, and Respawn was not happy to be called a sidekick.
The years went by, and Jazz returned from Gotham and wanted to show her family her boyfriend. And that was how Dick Grayson met Deathstroke at the dinner table and learned he was a hero!
a few weeks later in Gotham. Dick to his family as Jazz and her family wanted to visit Gotham, and the doorbell rang: "Somehow I became Slade's grandson-in-law. So he will be part of the family dinner. Don't be surprised."

I cannot find the post now, (god I should’ve saved it,) but there was this post about how the other Batkids shouldn’t be given their own cities like Dick with Blüdhaven because they’re more connected to Gotham than Dick is and while I agree I also wanna add on:
Dick is shown actively struggling to keep Blüdhaven together.
he’s doing the best he can with the resources he has and is generally doing better than you would expect for a city with a worse crime rate than Gotham, but it’s not easy.
by the time he actually became Blüdhaven’s protector, he already had years of experience. because that’s the only way it is believable that he is able to basically be the Batman of another city without the same resources.
remember, Blüd was not Dick’s first city. if I recall correctly, he was first protecting NYC. a city he would not be helping completely solo.
basically: if you want to separate the Batkids from Gotham for whatever reason, put them in a city with other heroes first.
