This could definitely be read as a romantic pairing...but I headcanon Cass as aroace/aspec, therefore the pairing between the reader and Cass is a qpr.

Jason came up behind you.

"Looking for something?" He asked, grinning knowingly. You just shook your head, smiling.

"She's perfect, Jason, and I'm...me." He chuckled.

"Look, you either need to keep pining unromatically for the rest of your life, or grow a pair and straight up tell her. Pardon the expression." You laughed, and then looked at your best friend.

"You sure, Jay?"

"Oh I'm sure, Your Honor."

The two of you walked over and joined the group. You sat down sat down next to her, and squeezed her hand.

Shall I stay? Would it be a sin If I can't help falling in love with you?

Your weekly study session was over, and just as Cass was about to leave the library, you did either very bold or very stupid. Probably both.

"Hey, um, Cass?"

She turned around to look at you.

"I know you're aroace, but...um, hoco's coming up in a few weeks, and I was wondering if you'd wanna go with me?"

To your surprise, she grinned and nodded.

The light hit her dress so that she looked like a goddess, and her hair, which was usually down, was styled in a half-up-half-down look. She was wearing the rings that you'd given her the last time all of you went to Pride.

She walked over to you and smiled.

"You look...great."

"So do you."

Then the boys burst your moment and started clapping, wolf-whistling and other obnoxious things.

"Oh, god," you muttered. She laughed, took your hand and led you to the door.

Batfamily sexuality/gender headcanons

Bruce Wayne: cis/repressed bi. He doesn't realize that he's into dudes. It's normal to think that your guy friend is cute right?

Dick Grayson: cis/hetero. Sorry lads, dude is straight. He is also the kind of guy who is super comfortable in his sexuality/gender and doesn’t him other pronouns or being perceived as feminine.

Jason Todd: cis/doesn't like to use labels. Whenever someone asks he just shrugs.

Tim Drake: cis/bi. He has a preference for blondes and people who get themselves into risky situations.

Damian Wayne: cis/aro/ace. Possibly demi, but he just doesn't like anyone and values friendship more.

Barbara Gordon: cis/hetero (possibly bi-curious). She’s not opposed to dating women.

Kate Kane: cis/lesbian... That's it.

Helena Bertinelli-Wayne: cis/biromantic/homosexual. She just hasn't find the right guy is what she tells herself, she's just gay.

Jean-Paul Valley: cis/aro/ace/pan. He's either demi or gray aroace and completely unaware of his attraction to dudes.

Stephanie Brown: tranfem/bi. Her response to Tim coming out as bi was "oh my God! Me too!"

Cassandra Cain: demi girl/lesbian. Idk if I'm a girl, but I want to call myself a lesbian.

Alfred: cis/hetero. Although he hasn't dated in years and is rather picky.

Leslie Tompkins: cis/???. We don't know and that's fine.

Harper Row: cis-ish/bi. She/they pronouns. She's flexible in her gender expression and pronouns, but describing herself as a woman just feels the best. Demi girl also doesn't feel right.

Duke Thomas: I don't know enough about him to give a proper headcanon, but based off vibes: non-binary masc/gay.

Selina Kyle: cis/pan. She has in fact dated Ivy.

Why did you decide that Cassandra would be asexual in your story? And if she wasn't, how would you deal with it?

Well, in the show Cass is the only main-character (other than the youngest kids) to not have even a crush on somebody else during the show! Combine that with her seeming annoyance at the Day of Hearts and it's romance, while not being bothered by other festivals like Day of Goodwill, that just kinda scream either Aroace or at least Ace at me!

Because sure, she could just show zero romantic interest during the three years of the show but... well, people who FEEL attraction do tend to show it at least SOMETIMES!

The closest we get with Cass is complimenting Andrew but I am 90% sure she only does to annoy Eugene xD

I decided to go with just Ace in my AU because I personally haven't seen it explored much in stories and I think it deserves some more exposure!

It's the small things like the fact that despite being capable of romantic love, without the initial physical attraction it often goes unnoticed. That's why Cass doesn't even consider Caine romantically UNTIL it's brought up.

Then there's the confusion of, if I don't feel this attraction... is there love? Is what I feel love or just appreciation? I really enjoyed taking Cass through that confusing emotional journey and the way in which Eugene listened and addressed her concerns. (obviously not every ace person will have an experience even remotely similar to her, just saying).

If Cass wasn'ts Asexual...

Well, if she isn't asexual as in she feels both romantic and sexual attraction, I think she'd probably get with Caine a bit sooner and they'd relationship would be a bit more... fiery? There relationship would undoubtedly be different, but because I don't go into details about those parts of their relationship, I wouldn't have to change much as far as handling it goes.

There is one drafted scene I had that got scrapped that would change. (Basically, Gothel telling Cass she wasn't treating Caine fairly and was a bad girlfriend).

And one later scene I'd have to scratch (we'll get there).

But neither are huge to the plot.

For the record I don't believe in "bad" Cassandra Cain fans, by definition I mean a person that considers themselves a Cass fan but sees that they are often liking things the majority of Cass fans don't like so they call themselves a "bad Cass fan". I am on record that I don't like Black Bat (the suit or the name). I like the Orphan suit (name is shit though). I want Cass to be Batman someday, but I don't think she has to be with the Batfamily forever if DC would allow her the space to exist away from them. I prefer HarperCass to StephCass, and overall I think Cass should be Aroace. I don't want Cass to join the Justice League. I don't want her and Jason to be friends or friendly. I think her and Duke sibling potential can surpass her and Tim if given the opportunity. Her compassion and belief in second chances is next to none, but it has a limit. And so on and so forth...

We all have random ideas and wants for Cass and I don't think it's fair to call someone a bad fan (or for someone to think they are a bad fan) of a character because they relate or see them differently than others.
