03/15/24’s delivery 🏹✉️ twisted wonderland
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he think everything all cookies n cream..ヽ( ・∀・)ノ_θ彡☆Σ(ノ `Д´)ノ,ヽ( ・∀・)ノ_θ彡☆Σ(ノ `Д´)ノ ;; summary. ‘with their caretaker a little busy, you’ve been kindly asked to take care of them—and thus the beans are spilt of said caretaker’s little crush on you.’
Tumblr media
characters. ignihyde , special : ortho shroud , grim ( separate ) ;; platonic . 🖇️ tags. reader is gender neutral ( you/your ), reader may or may not be yuu ( up to the reader ) in idia’s, reader is NOT yuu in..well..yuuken’s, romantic fluff
📡 _a/n. ah, despite the summary this is moreso about the caretaking of ortho and grim, hence the platonic..a romantic of the aftermath with idia and yuuken will come soon! ( hopefully, soon..but planned! )
o. shroud
— hmm, i’d say ortho’s quite fitted to take good enough care of himself, no? but in such a situation to make these circumstances work, let’s take a little hypothetical to make this a real scenario; ortho’s been on a ‘low power mode’ as of late, and idia’d took the bravery in his heart to ask, his finger twirling his pinkened hair to control his heart’s beating, for you to aid him in the matter of watching over him while he collects the material for ortho’s latest update. and anyway, how could you refuse?
— although really even so it boils down to some light conversation as you keep an eye on ortho to make sure nothing goes wrong, according to idia’s worries; and yet he didn’t seem all to worried, but you figured it was because the chances of something going wrong were a mere one in a million..or maybe something else might’ve been amiss? ..well..not like he’d know, actually, since this was ortho’s time to shine, which is as just said, completely unbeknownst to idia; all revealed in that conversation between the two of you.
— “eh, [y/n]? I was a little curious,” ortho looked to you, so you looked over to him and away from the console game he’s excitedly set up at the idea of hanging out with you even for a moment, an excitement you couldn’t help but feel a bit overboard considering why you were to be supposedly looking out for him. “do you like my brother?” you couldn’t help but hum a bit in surprise, though you should’ve expected something like this—he was idia’s brother, after all. but ortho didn’t seem antagonistic, more hopeful, actually, so you, albeit in a bit of a flustered state admitted, “i sure hope not everyone can see right through be about that, it’d be embarrassing..”
— ortho just giggled a bit, “well, i guess it was obvious to me! i could kind of tell, because i could pick up on the way your heart would beat a little faster whenever he’s around!” he then began to whir on about little things he’d picked up on, and sure enough your face was starting to become hot at the idea of the little habits you’d picked up as your crush on idia further developing slowly having become visible. so with no bad intentions you interrupted, “ah, but..why do you ask, ortho?” and you could tell ortho was confused by the way he hummed himself to silence.
— “hwah?!” actually, he seemed shocked now, before he closed his eyes, and you assumed it was from his low power mode ( after all he had become slower as a whole ), though it was clearer to note it was as he was trying to assess what’d just occurred, “oh, but the advice i’ve been giving idia, has it not been working..? i was trying to be a nice little brother..”
— “ortho, um..” you questioned a bit, waving your hand a bit in front of his face to try and comfort him from his worry, “i’m kind of confused, what do you mean about advice for idia?”
— though the cogs were turning in your head, just as ortho confirmed,
— “well, idia really likes you, yaknow?”
— ahaha..you could only wonder if idia meant for this conversation to happen. but considering ortho’s moment of gleeful look, you could only imagine that he didn’t..but at least you knew now, of course, because, idia loves you back.
— and now here ortho was, trying to give advice to you now, on how to confess to his brother; certainly, a help he is, you’ll have to thank ortho many a times later.
grim
— as for grim, well..safe to say there could be a plethora of reason behind it, but you were brought to ramshackle, apologetically so by yuuken but you assured him you didn’t mind, to make sure he wouldn’t cause trouble seeing as enma apparently had some troubles regarding the adeuce duo, but would have to leave grim behind since it seemed grim was lacking in his studies, and the last thing he wanted was for grim to have an excuse out of it. and, well, you were the one he trusted the most for the job, he admitted, though a bit embarrassed to say it.
— laugh it up, grim warns when yuuken’s out of hearing range—but he complains and assured you that he is to be the most powerful mage in twisted wonderland, and that “studying won’t stop him!” should you be quick to question if that means he’ll get to it then, he dismisses you quickly by complaining about how boring it is and that he’d much rather be doing something else, so he scatters off to the lounge to lay on the couch, and with nothing much to do, you inevitably follow suit.
— you’ll have to deal with some complaining on grim’s end i’ll tell you that much; but even so you can tell grim takes kindly to you, otherwise surely he’d be more more antagonistic. albeit he surely isn’t soft on you like he is yuuken, something you find cute in a way, he doesn’t particularly try to make fun of you or anything, which you’ve come to appreciate. in the end, he chooses to bother you a bit, pawing at your lap, “aye, [y/n], since you’re here,” he begins, seeming a little cocky but you can tell he seems a little pleading, “pass me some tuna! i’ve been feeling hungry..”
— in response you ponder for a moment before he quickly follows up, “it’s in the fridge! c’mon, i’ll try and get you some praise through the grapevine to yuuken, ‘kay?!” and while you felt a little bad for letting that being the reason you agree, you don’t end up stopping yourself from, albeit hesitantly, getting up to go fulfill the deed, grim saluting to you gleefully in response. “and make sure it’s the premium one!”
— it took you a bit longer than expected to get to the kitchen and back, so you could barely hear an, “ugh..” which was a telling signal to the start of grim’s complaining as you came to him from the fridge to supply him a little supreme tuna ( you could only hope yuuken wouldn’t be too miffed at you spoiling the little direbeast ), “seriously, you n’ yuu are so cringe!” you couldn’t help but be offended before he continued, “can’t wait for him to finally confess so his stupid pining can be over with…”
— “uh, huh?” at your questioning, barely-processing-what-you’d-just-heard-tone, grim became aware of his little slip up, turning to you warningly, “oh, wait, pretend you didn’t hear!! the tuna i’m eating is what he promised me if i’d stay silent, so hush!”
— “ahah, okay..?” maybe it’s true, that your feelings are mutual..
— so you sighed a breath of relief.

TWST x Self-aware Yan Cannibal AU Ft: Unhinged GN Reader
𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐲𝐮𝐥
Unbirthday party has always been a merry occasion for 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐲𝐮𝐥. Not only does he get to eat the strawberry tarts, but he also gets to have Trey's meat pie specialty.
Pigs who dared to enrage the tyrant by upsetting you, the law, are sent to the kitchen for the butcher and baker to process into something edible.
The card soldiers cheer in joy and anxiety, pleased to be able to taste the main course yet sweating over the idea of screwing up and ending up on the silver platter.
Yet part of them does not really mind if it's meant that they will be devoured by you, the law, their grace. Ace and Deuce have always irked Riddle but the sight of you smiling along with their pranks and mischiefs save them from the trouble they are about to face.
Cater will always upload it on magicam, boasting the sight of you enjoying your stay in 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐲𝐮𝐥 as you nibble on the tart. Baked and minced to your favorite, as usual. Trey and Cater sure know their way around this, memorizing how you like it by heart.
--
"Looks like you two are having a hard time cleaning the guillotine huh?" You stopped in front of the guillotine, watching the other students along with the ADeuce duo wiping the blade that had severed yet another pig for you to feast on soon.
"Uh yeah, troublesome as always, I hate having this bloody mess all over my hands." Deuce furrowed his eyebrows, waving his hands for you to see. Ace immediately elbowed Deuce, "Dude, you are splattering the blood all over me!"
You chuckled at the duo before turning back your focus on Riddle and his chaperones, "I assure you, those blood does taste good too if you know your way around it."
Trey and Cater raised their eyebrows and glanced at each other, seemingly knowing what they would present for you at the next Unbirthday party.
"Is that so? Then I'll make sure to have your Grace have a taste of it at our next tea party."
𝐒𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐰
It's only natural to see the beasts ripping the guts out of the prey with their bare fangs. 𝐒𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐰 surely offers an entirely different vibe when it comes to banquets.
Until Leona signals them, the beasts are nothing but starving predators, ready to shred the prey into minced meat. But Leona is nothing but a calm and obedient beast when it comes to you, eagerly waiting for you to give him the accord.
One tilt of your head and a nod is all it takes for Leona to snap his fingers, the chosen beasts leaping toward the prey eagerly as their claws and fangs tore them apart.
Jack was the fiercest among the others, even more than his seniors. For someone who held an upright moral integrity, he had it revolved around you and all sense of justice had been laid onto the tip of your tongue.
Ruggie on the other hand only watched in amusement next to Leona, waiting for the next batch of captured prey to be feasted by him. He would not cut line and steal a bite of what's not given to him from you, oh nooo, he was a patient hyena.
Leona cocked his head to you, eyes focused on you while waiting for you to lock your eyes with his, "Should I grab one for you to eat too, your Grace?"
𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞
Mostro Lounge has always offered the best dining experience. It is not to be doubted again that 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞 is most definitely going to serve you the finest meal, personally handled and cooked by the Tweels.
And of course, those who fail to fulfill the terms of Azul's contract have to feel how the merfolks gut them, spilling their whole innards all over as they choose which part is considered the most delectable for you.
From the sophisticated look of the beverage, tinted dark red yet a hue of purple could be seen, giving it a pleasingly aesthetic look for you to fawn over before you drink it down.
On the silver platter was a heart, decorated with things you had no idea about but you had seen back in your world. Fancy diners always do that, you thought to yourself.
"Only the best part for your Grace." Jade bowed down as he adjusted the plate and utensils. Floyd was grinning from ear to ear as he dusted the sugar cube into your drink, "And something refreshingly sweet for ya' highness!"
You gave them a curt nod before slicing it, Floyd kneeling down next to you while his face rested on your chair's armrest, eyes glimmering in excitement as he waited for your feedback. Jade might not show it in his face but even you could notice how his feet tapped against the carpeted tile, something you'd never see from someone who could stand still for hours without moving like an inanimate object.
You gave them an approving nod and smile as you took a sip from the drink Floyd personally went over length to make for you, "Satisfactory as usual."
A pair of hands clasped on your shoulders from behind, Azul cooed right into your ear "But your Grace, surely it can go beyond that no? We'll make sure of that the next time you choose to feast here."
𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐚
Banquet has always been something that is always happening due to Kalim's nature and Jamil has never really found any joy from it.
But all that changes if the banquet is thrown for you. Oh, how the viper ensures himself to go beyond length in preparing the dishes. With Kalim's endless riches, he can use all sorts of ingredients one would never be able to obtain without spending a fortune for their rarity. Only the freshest and best ingredients are allowed to be used for your meal and so are the living meat of the students.
Everything must be set to a T. Kalim may not be a tyrant but when it comes to you? He's unconsciously pointing his fingers and brows scrunched at anything that is not abided by perfection. The lamps are not hung at the right angle, the pillows have not been changed into new pillows and the animals must be paraded in order and not roam like wild beasts. Anyone who just ever makes the slightest mistake will be sent straight to the kitchen as an ingredient. Had it not been for Jamil's suggestion to send them all bruiseless, they would have been beaten until they were nothing but pulp.
You were taking in the sight of the parade, everything was as amusing as you had always remembered. But the true highlight lay in Jamil's cooking, if you have to pinpoint the best cook in this twisted wonderland then it had to be Jamil. Unlike the finery of Mostro Longue, Jamil's cooking had a different feel to it. It was not as aesthetic yet it did not change the fact that it still looked pleasantly delicious. If Mostro Lounge accounted for the positioning of the food in a numerical and angle way, Jamil offered everything in a neat bulk. Curry, prata, shawarma, and all. Its display screamed for people to grab one yet no one dared to unless you ordered them to do so.
You cocked your head toward Kalim who was sitting right next to you, eyes glimmering in adoration as he drunk in your expression. Oh, would you finally like to have a bite? He held one of the shawarma out toward you with an empty plate in his other hand.
Jamil had ensured that there were 2 different platters, one for you which was made from the best ingredients and seasonings, while the other was less if compared to yours but still delicious nonetheless. One was made from meat and blood that had been considered the best while the other was made from those that failed to pass through the requirements.
You took a bite from his hand, savoring the taste of Jamil's hard work while enjoying the show of Kalim's tyranny. Truly, you love being able to taint your beloved sunshine.
"Say say, are you enjoying it all, your Grace? Not even a beat of music missed and all the food that sprawled across the room is ensured to be of the best quality." Kalim brought a goblet onto you and you held it in your hand. He gave you another grin that was just as blinding as the sun, his finger beckoned Jamil to pour you the carmine drink, squeezed from their cries of agony and pain before they were minced.
"But of course, your Grace has no need to hesitate to point something out if it's not to your liking," Jamil chimed in as he watched you swirl your goblet. The two of them stared right into your eyes, eyes enchanted by you despite one being an enchanter, "Because we seek only perfection for your Grace's taste."
𝐏𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐞
𝐏𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐞 prides themselves in their pitch-perfect diet. So what if their Grace has a different taste in the feast? All they have to do is readjust and tailor the whole dorm's diet to yours.
The fairest one of all, wearing a tiara that shines even brighter than any tiaras Vil has ever seen, truly living up to the radiance you emit just from sitting on the very throne with him standing right next to you.
It appeared that preparing a banquet was a huge feat for 𝐏𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐞 as they were divided into 2 teams. Team One prepared the whole occasion while Team Two flocked toward you, amusing you with a theatric show as you watched them from your throne.
It appeared that Rook's fascination with the world of theatrics and you worked really well as he 'acted' out the role of a lover professing his love toward the protagonist really well. Strings of bizarre praises and wishes rolled from the tip of his tongue smoothly as though it was by nature for him to act so already.
Epel on the other hand was all energized to drag the qualified livestock into the kitchen after Vil had inspected them all personally. The livestock was to be of a healthy diet, bruiseless and ailment-free before it was allowed to be cooked and feasted by the Grace.
The moment Rook was notified that the whole banquet was ready, a trumpet was blown and you were led to the dining hall which had been decorated to match your attire. Were you wearing something cute, pure, sexy, cool, or pop? Either way, 𝐏𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐞 never missed a beat in losing its elegance no matter what the theme was.
"Allow me," Rook pulled the chair for you to sit on before he readjusted the platter asymmetrically. Right next to your seat on the right was Vil sitting while the rest of the body stood, not daring to sit unless you allowed them to.
Seeing Epel all giddy observing you, you beckoned him to come to you and he whispered into your ear, "I seasoned it!"
You cocked a questioning eyebrow toward Vil and he could only sigh with a chuckle, "Oh what will I do with your Grace's taste bud?"
Rook poured a carmine red fluid into your glass, its smell told you that it was not made just from a fine wine but rather, a fine blood.
"A fine cocktail of white wine, dyed with a carmine golden drop, hand-picked and squeezed personally by me. Truly, your favorite, your Grace."
𝐈𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐡𝐲𝐝𝐞
Honestly, what do you even expect from all these anti-socials? They are nothing but a bunch of hikikomori yet the Shroud Brothers just know how to surprise you!
Unlike the impractical methods that the others use to earn just a golden drop of blood from the livestock, the dorm has created countless practical devices that help them to create something quickly.
Compressors that grind down the gutless livestock into a fine drink. Shredders that allow them to save time from having to shred from chunk by chunk. And a practical inspection device that helps Idia sort out the best for you to feast on.
Ortho had to be the most eager one of all, singing non-stop as he ensured all were to be finished quickly when you informed him that you would be choosing 𝐈𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐡𝐲𝐝𝐞 for your next banquet.
They specialized in efficiency and speed but that did not mean they lacked the skill of cooking a delicious dish. While it may be pale when compared to other dorms, 𝐈𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐡𝐲𝐝𝐞 is a great option for when you are craving for something and want it to be on your plate in a short moment. They might not score 12/10 but they were able to at the very least score 8/10. Surprised much? Ortho had been practicing how to cook and all from the data Idia inputted into him.
"Uurgh.. uhh... y-your Grace... so what is the verdict? A level up? Or an increase in the ranking board? O-Ortho is really expecting your answer..."
You raised your eyebrows at his stuttering, "Getting better," you stopped for a moment to chew again, "and delicious."
Ortho immediately leaped toward you from Idia's back, causing him to squeak, his metal arms wrapped around your neck, "I'm glad! Please keep on coming here and I'll make sure to be the best cook you'll ever have!"
Idia brought a napkin over to your face, "Yes... should your Grace ever need for a quick meal, please come by... Me and Ortho... and Ortho... will always be ready at your disposal."
But who were you but the all-knowing God, you knew there was a slight taint of blot in your meal, Ortho, you assumed.
𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐧𝐢𝐚
Lilia has to stay away from the kitchen. But don't worry, the bat is entrusted with hunting down livestock for the youngsters to process into something edible.
Malleus on the other hand is ready to strike anyone down with lightning should they make the slightest mistake in the banquet preparation.
Sebek is in charge of inspecting the livestock while Silver is in charge of the most gruesome part of the job (which was appointed by you for fun.) which is gutting. Surely tainting someone so pure like him has to be your favorite feast.
The candles on the table were all lit in emerald hue, fireflies surrounded you as Lilia levitated around you, joyously guiding you toward the dining table.
There you could see Malleus sitting on the second host seat, his hand prompts you to take a seat across from him. Lilia pulled the chair for you to sit before Silver walked out of nowhere, holding a plate of dishes for you to feast on.
Sebek on the other hand had been arranged to stand right next to Malleus, part of him was happy yet part of him envied Silver. Nonetheless, no barks had ever slipped past through his sealed lip.
"Kukuku, the boys went through great details and length in preparing this whole banquet, well, me included. It was fun hunting down these livestock for you," His index finger felt your platter, "it makes me feel like I must pick the ripest for you... feeding you... aa~"
Soon, he brought a forkful of meat sliced by SIlver earlier while you were distracted by Lilia. Malleus smiled at your dazed-out face and the way realization washed over you.
"May your Grace enjoy the blessing that you have graced us tonight." Malleus raised his goblet, urging you to do just the same.
"Cheers!" Lilia wiped your mouth with the napkin, Silver's hand holding out your filled goblet.
𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐲 ???
"My words! Did you have fun, hm?" Crowley immediately lunged toward you the moment you entered his office. He gave you the cutest pout you could ever see from him, his cheek rubbed against yours repeatedly.
"Are you jealous, Dire?"
"Of course not! How can someone as magnanimous as I, be jealous of my own fledglings?" And as though to prove to you his seriousness, he even posed ridiculously with his staff.
You cackled at him before giving him a kiss on his cheek, "I'm home, Dire."
Crowley stopped acting up and turned serene, giving you a smile that didn't seem to reach his eyes.
"Welcome home, Master. Dinner's ready as usual."
Oh old times... ???

How they would act when you fall asleep on their shoulder Pt. 6
Tumblr media
Part 5 (Leona, Kalim & Ace)
Summary: You had a long morning, and you didn't even get enough sleep so now you are very tired, But sitting with them in the courtyard during lunch break, while they talk you find yourself falling asleep, your head on their shoulder.
Ft. Ortho, Deuce & Jade x GN!Reader [Seperate]
A/n: dear me i had a crisis whether i should add ortho or not, but look at me, i did it anyways! you can think of his part as romance (if you're even allowed to do that) Or platonic because its either :▶

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ortho
Tumblr media
His only best efforts he can do is stay still and try not to shift positions alot. He has to ask multiple times if you are really feeling okay and not uncomfy, But since you told him you seriously won't feel anything, He decided to stay still. Probably hums you a lullaby.
As you fall asleep, He looks at you, Even scans you, Double check if you're asleep before going on using the internet just at his fingertips. Who knows, He might be texting everyone about you, positively. Afterall, He's a happi boy :]
You nod at every story he tells you all about his life. How does he know these childhood things as a robot? You will never know.. But you gotta admit, the stories are interesting. You took off your jacket, folding it into a pillow. You place the folded jacket on Ortho's shoulder. You lay the side of your head onto it, Your arms taking Ortho's arm in an embrace. Your actions made Ortho stop speaking, blankly staring at you for a few seconds. "Eh? What's wrong?" He asks. "..Keep talking, Orthy.. I'm just getting comfortable." You mutter under your breath. Ortho doesn't look pleased with your answer, Because he can tell you were lying. "You don't need to tell me." He chuckles kindly with a hint of mischief in it. Your eyes were closed but your ears were focused on him, when You suddenly hear a scanning noise which causes you to sit back up and look at him scanning you. "Hmm, You are... Tired? And stress??" He asks himself.
You grumble incoherent curses at him, Who lightly pulls your head back on his shoulder. "Well You could've just said so!" He says with pure enthusiasm. "Orthy, No.. I wanna keep listening.." You mumble sadly. Without being affected by your sulkings, Ortho shakes his head. "Nope, You listen to it later but I say you sleep!" You sigh, Yawning after that. "Fine!" You agree. Ortho helps you fall asleep easier by humming you a lullaby his brother once did to his human self. Just when you are sleeping, Ortho checks on you, Scanning you, double the better. "Asleep.." He whispers to himself, "Good- You need it badly." He sighs in relief. Thank sevens you're already sleeping, you must be so tired.. He sways his fingers in air, A magical program appearing infront of him as he uses it to wait for you to wake up.
Tumblr media
Deuce
Tumblr media
We all know he's trying his best to change, he was a delinquent so who's there to say that he knows what he's doing? No way he used to let people rest on him when he was a delinquent. That's just impossible mate.
He doesn't how to do this, so he just sticks with the basics. Though the more you sleep on him the more he gets used to it and start to like it. He would think it isn't really that bad anymore and get used to it. Still not knowing his next moves, but it's not like you mind, you're literally dead asleep on him.
You and Deuce are studying for the next lesson, You don't know this.. Damnit, Another all nighter. As the shade of the tree hides you both from the sun, you yawn softly. Deuce looks at you. "Sleepy?" He asks. You sigh tiredly, leaning your head on his shoulder and closing your eyes. "Hey, What are you-" He couldn't even finish what he said, because you're already asleep. He closes the book and place it beside him, thinking of what to do. He never even experienced these kinds of things, how should he do this..
Deciding to be brave, Deuce pats your head softly, only to feel his heart soften when you rub your head against his shoulder like a cat striving for attention. "Aw.." He says in a low voice. "On second thought, This actually feels good." He adds, Rubbing your head with his hand. You tug on the ends of his blazer, snoring quietly. He spots your pen, hanging on your ear. He gently takes it, putting it on the ground. Deuce still isn't aware of what he should do next, but the best he can do is just rest aswell. He closes his eyes. "Hah.. Let's just do the assignment together later.. Let's just.. Rest.." He mumbles.
Tumblr media
Jade
Tumblr media
Jade is that type to know your current conditions, But won't ask if you need help, instead, You'll be the one asking instead. He expects you to already ask him to be a pillow. He sees you at the hallway, almost tripping and falling, he already knows. He's just waiting for you to ask for help from him.
So the moment you ask if you can lean on his shoulder to take a short nap he'll probably let you lay on his lap. Like It might be more comfy on my lap and he was meant to do that purposely. To make you sleep on his lap, if anything he might just hypnotize you to do so.
You watch Jade read a book. You thought about telling him. He won't mind.. Right? You lean your forehead against his shoulder, his attention switches to you. "What seems to be the matter?" He asks, You can hear the excitement in his voice, probably just you. "Mm.. Let me rest on you for a while.. Please." You plead him, He expected you to ask him but he didn't expect the plead. Jade chuckles lowly. "You can, but why don't you rest on my lap? It must be uncomfortable sleeping like this."
"But you're reading something.." You slowly get back up. Jade lifts his book up to read closely. "There, You may rest on my lap now." You exhale lightly. "Fine.." You mumble, resting your head on his lap, He's smiling at you, but in the inside he's having a victory dance. You start to relax as you close your eyed and sleep. Jade runs his fingers through your hair, "Sleep well." He whispers to you.

kiss your best friend | ignihyde
Tumblr media Tumblr media
kiss your best friend and see how they react!
parts. one , two , three , four , five , six , seven
characters. idia, ortho
content. gender neutral reader as usual, platonic for the bby, wingman ortho at it again, forgot about this ngl
note. sorry guys idia's part was messy but I mean, I'm just portraying his chaotic feelings ig. I SWEAR ORTHO'S PART MAKES UP FOR IT SINCE HES THE CALMER ONE
damn part six finally hear after almost a year (I'm so sorry help)
Tumblr media
idia
is having the fastest inner monolog you will ever hear in your life, if it was being read out loud that is. could be nominated as rapper of the year with how fast he's blurting out thoughts in his mind.
also probably vocals of the year too with how high pitched, and small in range it is. what a versatile king 🔥
'anywaysitooklike10yearstryingtofindthisitemcausetheysaidtheysawitbutohmygodwhatinthethreehellsishappeningOMGaretheykissingmechatamidreamingOMGimnot??WHAT WARAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA'
to make your life easier 'anyways it took like ten years trying to find this item cause they said they saw it but oh my god what in the three hells is happening OMG are they kissing me chat am I dreaming OMG I'm not??? WHAT *incoherent screeching.'
probably has never kissed anyone besides his body pillows which is just one sided making out so completely forgets his 'lessons on teaching himself how to kiss' and freezes up. comically gets goosebumps and remains frozen even after you pull away.
then starts turning red from feet to head??
he has so many questions that he in fact, does NOT want to ask cause even if it cost his life he can't question you if you guys are dating now cause YOU JUST KISSED HIM SO THAT MEANS YOU BOTH UPGRADE LEVELS.
wait he can't call it friendship level. clearly you're both past level 10 now right?? INTIMACY LEVEL???? HE DOESNT KNOW HES PANICKING.
is too awkward to ask and acts even more awkward as the time is more prolong during the time he's just left wondering what the hell you guys are now cause he's too pussy to do anything without confirmation that you're both duos for life now.
ortho
is the one idia rants to about his predicament right after you part ways.
like, idia doesn't even try to call or contact ortho through the means of technology even if it meant getting to talk faster. he's BOLTING to the dorm with his unathletic ass (with breaks in between.) because the tea he was going to spill was that good.
listens intently and goes :O when idia finally mentions the part where you randomly kiss him out of the blue, by the way only getting to the point after idia spills.. umm.. the wrong thing to be honest, literally retold the whole day until that point.
yeahhhh.. he has the energy atleast.
idia is probably telling ortho about how it meant nothing even though you literally outright kissed him, to the cheek, mouth, or something and he's still gonna say it didn't mean anything.
ortho gotta be the one telling idia to make the move cause no idiot would mistake that for nothing (except idia apparently but he'll have everyone know that his brother is a tech genius!!)
they both do one of those scenes in movies where P1 - idia, is talking to you in real life with an earpiece, and P2 - ortho is said person behind the earpiece. basically the one telling idia what he should do because that guy is too lost for his own good.
"brother move closer!"
"... isn't this too close already though--" <- embarrassed and regretting everything
in the end he did manage to get a label on the two of you, no thanks to HIM and all the thanks to ortho <3
Tumblr media
note. ortho's part just ended up as an extension of idia's part but I always love to include him in everything :') just some behind the scenes on how idia actually got a relationship (ITS ALL ORTHO)

Idia Shroud Dating Hcs
x gn Reader, Pronouns not specified, Idia being the loser boyfriend that he is (this is a shitpost) very short
Tumblr media
You would probably have to take charge in this relationship because there is not a single bone in his body that would want to lead. This being said you probably have to initiate every single interaction. Yes he wants kisses, but no he won't tell you because that's awkward but if you don't kiss him he'll think you have a secret agenda against him and start overthinking.
His love language is info dumping to you about the thing he is obsessed with. If you even show the tiniest amount of interest he would get super happy to tell you more. The more questions you ask and show your interest, the happier he gets.
Cooks for you (boils water for your instant noodles)
Watches a lot of romance animes and likes to assign the main characters as the two of you. So imagine him spouting about how these two anime characters are literally you guys in a different universe.
Would write and draw a little webcomic where the main characters are the two of you being cute together.
Your dates are mostly indoors (in his or your room)
Probably brags about you anytime he gets the chance on the internet. Probably has lil account dedicated to you specifically.

The heat of the day was finally gone. Dew covered the grass. Crickets chirped in the undergrowth. And above you were millions of stars, and visible galaxies and nebulas, not obstructed by decades of light pollution. It was beautiful.
Sitting beside you on the blanket that was spread out to provide a somewhat comfy barrier between you and the ground, was Idia. He had the hood of his sweater tied on tight, as so to hide the fact that his hair was nearly neon pink, and a dead giveaway of how he was feeling. And even though he was out of his comfort zone, he wanted to join you. And he was happy that he did. Yes, he felt nervous, but it wasn’t just because he was out in public — it was because this was a date, an official date. And while the two of you sitting in his room and playing games or watching shows were technically dates, this was the first public one.
“Hey, Idia,” you tugged at his sleeve, pulling him out of his thoughts. “Do you have a favourite constellation? A planet?”
He cleared his throat and hesitantly held your hand in his. His hand shaking the slightest bit. “Not really,” he said quietly looking up to the sky. Well, his head was pointed up, but he wasn’t looking at the countless stars. He was looking at you from the corner of his eye. “And you?”
You hummed, looking up at the unfamiliar sky. “Pluto. It’s a planet from… from back home.”
Idia gently slipped his hand into yours and squeezed it. “I-if you want, you can talk about it,” he internally cringed. He hadn’t stuttered like that since he had truly started feeling comfortable around you.
You squeezed his hand back and leaned your head on his shoulder. “Well, it used to be a planet but then got demoted to a dwarf planet. Which is kind of ironic, seeing that it’s named after the Roman god of the underworld.” You sigh and turn to Idia, whose hood had slipped down, revealing his hair. It was a lovely shade of pastel pink, and it was the entirety of his hair, not just the tips. It cast the both of you in a soft rose light. “... a person people tend to underestimate and judge.”
Idia clamoured to get the hood over his head, but he was stopped by your hand, which gently placed the hood down. Why are they looking at me like I’m the milk bread protag in some cheesy shounen?! He was in his own head, but all of that went away when he felt your hand cup his face.
Idia was similar to Pluto, and not just in the themes of relating to the god of the underworld. For so long, people only saw them as unassuming. But when you get closer, then you can appreciate the beauty and tiny details. Someone that you would stand next to and defend at all costs, even when the rest of the world may say that you shouldn’t, that you should just let it be as is.
“I love you,” you whisper, looking into his gold eyes.
That was the first time you had said that, well, said it out loud. Maybe it was the fact that Idia did something out of his comfort zone for you, maybe it was the setting, or maybe it was something else entirely.
You place your forehead against his. “I love you, Idia Shroud,” you say again, still looking into his eyes.
If Idia’s hair were not already as bright and pink as it could go, it would have gotten brighter, but it was as bright as the sun. But his face was now warm, and he was holding eye contact; even though he wanted to hide. “I-I,” he shut his mouth, took in a deep breath and centred himself. He didn’t want his first time saying the phrase to be stuttered. He wanted it to be perfect. I can do this. “I love you too.”
Shyly, he placed a kiss on your cheek and held eye contact for a few moments before hiding back in his hood. He swore that you were more stunning than all the stars that glittered above.

Bitey child!Yuu adventures! (pt2)
Warning(s): rambling, cussing
A/N: pt2 cause i thought of more stuff
[Bitey child!Yuu Masterlist]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sometimes during alchemy class Yuu can be found in the corner mixing the drinks and snacks they bring with them together to make "potions"
This almost gave Crewel a fucking heart attack the first time cause he thought they had gotten ahold of some actual potion ingredients.
A few times a week the Ramshackle ghosts will make a dinner, and they all with have a nice family dinner
the ghosts can't eat the food but they thinks its important to have these times, they all want Yuu to have as much stability as three ghosts and a fire cat can give a child.
Remember when Yuu bit Cowley so hard he started bleeding? yeah he almost had to go to the hospital for that
fun fact! Human bites are extremally dangerous when it brakes skin!
If Yuu is allergic to anything, it will be found out the hard way.
Ortho once brought them to Ignihyde to show them around and when they got to Idia's room, he was playing a game with headphones on
those two stood there for a good 10 minutes before he saw them, and when he did, he practically flew out of his char they scared him so hard.
Yuu ended up doing this themself every so often and thats why they are not allowed in Ignihyde anymore.
Cheka and Yuu will often play with Leona's tail when they think he's asleep.
Cater teaches them how to ride a skateboard, or tries too
he's not fully convinced that Yuu doesn't purposely fall for the cool band-aids he gives them.
Speaking of, Yuu has a tendency to show off any wound they get of any sort to their friends with pride
once a stray animal scratched them pretty badly and they just walked up to Deuce and showed it to him
their chest puffed up and everything
needless to say but Deuce probably had a actual heart attack.
Yuu once spent an entier day with Floyd, and ended up calling everyone by the nickname he gave them for like a week
Riddle doesn't know weather "Mama goldfish" if worse or better than just mama
Trey found it adorable.
If I was isekaid in Twisted Wonderland
I would be the worst person that Twisted Wonderland have ever seen.
I will laugh every 5 minutes, even when it's not funny. Ace crushed by a cauldron ? Yes. Grim trying to burn/threaten me ? Yeah. Riddle saying out of nowhere that he wishes he had eaten pie/played with Trey and Chenya when they were little ? Hear my laugh. Ace punching Riddle ? Yeah, I'll laugh.
I didn't lie when I say I was a hyena. I will be Ruggie Secret Love Brother/j
100% I will try to negotiate with Crowley to be a therapist or a student, all but NOT a concierge.
"Are you sure you're not going to let me in as a student ? You know, people would probably talk about how kind and generous you are if you did this. It would go viral on the Internet and a lot of people would like to come."
Yeah, I would definetly say something like that. No way I'm a concierge when I can't clean my room.
I'm not going to survive at the Overblots, it's said. I'm bad at sports, I never manage to dodge. I die at Riddle Overblot.
And if I don't die at the Overblots, I call Social Services/Child Protection at Twisted Wonderland after Azul's Overblot. Do you see book 6 when Crowley is in court ? Yeah, that's him after I called child protection. No way I let him be a headmage after that.
I will try to join the RSA if it doesn't work. Cause I CAN'T survive at Idia's overblot with the little minigames and Malleus' overblot.
“I will give you a gift, child of man.” Nah, leave me alone, I want to live. Let me live another day.
I will also say things like "Crowley, you have a [.....] kink" when he will try to give me job to do before running away. And I will do thing like that with all character that try to make me make their jobs/make me a therapist. I will doxx them all.
Idia will probably ask me how I know all of that about them. And I will just be here like "The less you know, better it is, and more legal it's/it is. :)"
I will probably try to be a background character.
At the Masquarade event, I will be the one who goes to the tower. It will be faster because as Yuu, I won't have any magic so the flowers will just stay flowers for me.
Knowing me, when the time of go back down the tower will come, I will be so tired of having to climb everything that I will go down by jumping from the tower with an umbrella at the Mary Poppins style.
Jamil will try to keep Kalim away from me because he won't want me to corrupt him.
I WILL slap Ace after what he say to Deuce in book 5.
I'm going to avoid Vil like if he was a mortal sickness. I will NEVER allowed him to puts makeup on me, for my mental well-being.
I will try to take a shower in another dorm than Ramshakle. No way I shower without hot water.
If I can't, I will make a contract with Azul. I don't care if he want Ramshakle, just let me take shower with hot water.
If Crowley don't give me money for improve Ramshackle, I will steal or make a deal with Azul.
Azul will see me every days.
I will be friend with Idia on games. Even if I hate the games.
I will probably make illegal things.
Like, you know the guys who tell you informations for money ? Yeah. That's me.
Oh and I will probably slap Crowley or do an Overblot if I can. Cause I can't stay mentally sane with the 30 trauma I will win with the 7 books.
Ruggie 🤝 me = stealing Leona and other people.
I will touch Jack tail. It's so soft, I just know it.
And I will adopt Ortho and Grim. I call dibs.
So, in short, I would be hated by everyone and I would doxx everyone for money.
Dorms Bra Shopping pt 6
Ignhyde is finally here! Ortho is purely platonic just so y'all know!
heartslyabyl savanahclaw octavinelle scarabia pomfoire ignhyde (you are here) daisomnia other
Ignihyde Dorm
Idia
please don't make him do this! he's so scared and wants to cry when you even ask! doesn't even want to talk about intimates, much less go shopping with you! the closest you could get is possibly shopping online, or bringing his tablet. but let's say you somehow bribe him to come with
he finds out you can rent out buildings and that's what he does. He is begging you to tell the clerks to leave you alone. he is hiding in his jacket, has tried to shove his hair into it with him but pink tendrils are peeking out anyway. He's honestly really cute when he's all blushy. Tell clerks to leave you alone and tease him, it's so fun. But go easy! He feels like he’s gonna throw up, and if he does! Omg he may cry.
He obviously enjoys the cosplay ones. He doesn't like the ones where you look like a school student though, those ones creep him out. Reminds him of actual class, and he panics. If you dress up as his favorite characters, or wears any of the fandom ones. He may even buy some matching ones! Shyly slides ones he likes closer, hoping you notice and won’t say anything. If you do the same, he is secretly happy that you noticed but aren’t saying anything.
He all but runs out of the store when you pay, He is gone! Vargas would be proud with how fast he ran, like he possibly broke a record or something. He does feel bad later if he ended up leaving you behind, but his social anxiety was at it's peak. He goes back to the dorms and hides under his covers. His mind is basically blank. He’s shaking so hard you can see it! Ortho tells you to leave him alone for awhile, so you two end up going through your haul.
He does text you and offer to get takeout with him, and a fun gaming night as an apology for abandoning you at the end of your date. But he does ask you not to have him do this again. He went out of his comfort zone for you, but he doesn't think he can handle something this stressful again for awhile. Maybe a virtual shopping date next time? please? He loves you so much, and would like to do SOMETHING like this again. Maybe just a comic convention vs shopping for intimates.
Ortho (PLATONIC ONLY)
Ortho is a bro, and actually offers to come with if you're showing any worries about it all. He has the entire internet at his disposable (child friendly at least, cause we all know that Idia totally put child lock on him) so he knows sometimes people can be creepy, or nervous. He is there for you! Ready to laser beam anyone!
He does end up learning about bras, binders, undies, and everything. He does a serious study online a few nights before, and maybe even asks a few friends! He tried Idia but Idia had no clue about any of this, turned bright red, and hid away in his room. The first years were also useless. Thankfully Ortho was able to ask Vil during their club meeting, and Vil is a knowledgeable man. Ortho is taking notes, and taking everything in like it’s gospel!
Ortho does end up trying to keep your preferences in mind, if you tend to dress a certain way, he tries to find something that fits that aesthetic. Sporty, comfy, cute, cool, ect. But he does end up choosing blue ones alot. What can he say, it's his favorite colour! If you ask for his choice, he likes the cute ones, especially with ruffles!
He listened intently to Vil so he knows about the protocol of offering to pay, compliments, and also the food afterwards! Ortho also did a quick internet search for best restaurants near by, but if you had a preference you're going there! He also has a tendency to only knowing Idia's preferences, so he's also offering alot of Idia's favorite take out places. He may not be able to eat, but he happily sits there while you eat and talk. He’s enjoyed this hang out! And totally brags to the first years how amazing your guys relationship is! Ace forces you to go shopping again later after Ortho’s teasing.
Ortho is a great kid, and totally makes Idia want to hide away when he comes home and talks about all of the things you two did. It's not that he's annoying, but Ortho is a teaser, and is poking fun at Idia imagining the bras and panties. Ortho says that if Idia had been there, he would have protected you from Idia cause Idia is a "creepy creeper!" like Vil said! The night is spent with the brother's arguing if Idia is actually creepy or not. Ends when Idia in a fit of rage calls you to ask if you think he's a creep.
Overblot mc/yuu but...????
TW — mention of vomiting, fighting Crowley and winning (sorry Crowley lovers), past death. I like thinking a lot tbh
not necessarily angst but it is in here! Same with fluff...this was really just me rambling.
* EDIT: WHY DID IT TAKE HOURS UNTIL I FINALLY GOT TOLD I WAS WRITING OVERBLOT WRONG.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think about MC overbloting a lot and I also think about adding it into my own books because of how??? good??? the idea???? is???????
I genuinely imagine that even from the start MC was in danger of overbloting themself, with the stress and despair of finding out they aren't in THEIR world, away from their (family and/or friends) with possibly NO WAY BACK EVER because of some egocentric crow refusing to do more than he wants to???????
They would obviously be hella upset, stressed, depressed, anxious, etc because they know NOTHING of this world and is practically a BABY among people who lived here THEIR WHOLE LIFE.
So as more overblots happen, the more their OWN overblot is brewing. Bubbling, waiting to enter the game. Especially with the magic always getting slashed onto them. I think the only reason why they HAVEN'T overbloted just yet is because of grim
a more personal headcanon; Grim's fire, when you have a close bond with him, sorta starts erasing your blot and fueling HIS flames, making it more powerful. Essentially, think of when you're close friends with someone... you'll find it easier to fight for them right?? like you have more power to do that??? that's what its like
Now think of when MC is just TOO deep in their mind, TOO deep into their emotions and its the ONE TIME grim isn't there to help. They go to throw up blot and after panicking for a bit they just accept it. They accept that "I'm gonna overblot and probably die" because they're just too tired to worry abt themself
They don't tell anyone and since the overblot is already taking over the entire inside of their body, grims flames can't really???? get it all???? It'll always be there and it'll continue to grow and slowly grim notices that when he's feeling more powerful than ever while MC is showing obvious signs of getting ready to overblot
Grim choosing not to say anything to other people would be like... i guess out of character but at the same time i think In character????? He knows how tired MC is with dealing with everyone and honestly he's tired of it too so YASSS SLAY HENCH-BESTIEEE!!!!!
Sooner or later the others would notice too and it would be a little late to help MC since the overblot is already seeping out of their skin like they're crying. and honestly? their body IS crying. it's crying blot. And even as everyone is screaming and panicking about MC, they're just... sitting there.
Like they're annoyed everyone is making a big deal out of it considering no one cared before, and they're just like "stfu we're in class" and then focus on the teacher going "u can continue im sorry abt that."
And everyone is just??? confused?? because why aren't they going haywire or like.....???? idk..... crying in pain....????? what...........
MC just chilling the entire day while overbloting, even their overblot monster just floating behind them in peace and waving at times when people look for too long while everyone else is wary and giving them (+ grim who's always in MC's hold) a bunch of space while the teachers and dormleaders have their pens/wands/wtvr thr fuck at command just incase
but then everyone just realizes that??? MC isn't gonna???? do anything?????? and it kinda irritates them because why aren't you doing shit its freaking them out.
And lets say,,, ortho... as discreetly as he can... scans you. And it shows that you're perfectly fine??? like you aren't dying or in pain. It even shows the Blot monster being alright too like its just a guy standing there.
And now the confusion is up to 100 because WHAT????
MC and the Blot [+ Grim] just doing their everyday assignments and eating in the cafeteria with their friends being visibly tense and MC just raises an eyebrow like "whats wrong with yall tf" before continuing to absolutely DEMOLISH a burger they got for free. FREE!!! best day ever fr they'll tell you that much
I feel like the Blot would get sorta aggressive/protective when it comes to people who has like hurt MC to the point they had to take a nurse visit (half of the school but its alr we gang fr) but when it comes to crowley....??? They'll see the FULL POWER of a magicless blot monster which is actually more terrifying than the others.
The blot going hulk on crowley is so funny to imagine for me cause he'd just be running away and suddenly gets smashed into a pillar from a literal stomp. just one. and it was relatively weak compared to the Blot AND MC picking up and swinging that SAME PILLAR to smash it into crowley.
All that anger and other negative emotion finally coming out the SECOND they even so as HEAR that crows heartbeat nearby. It gave everyone whiplash but then again they also all collectively thought that he deserved it considering he hasn't truly done anything to HELP the students but just to HELP the schools reputation.
I'm half certain a student died there and he just covered it up and they turned into a ghost that haunts places. (i mean... look at the three ghosts in Ramshackle. they used to be students there I'm pretty sure????? i forgot.)
As MC is beating the DOG SHIT out of crowley the Blot is just cleaning everything up slowly because they realized that they dirted up the place :( and when MC is done they help too as the teachers all circle around a throughly beaten and bruised Crowley who has blood seeping out of his mouth while being half awake.
Of course they help him don't die because they honestly don't want the one helpful person to go to the equivalent of jail in twisted wonderland for committing murder and ykw thats so real.
I feel like as Mc stays in this overblot form everyone thats close-ish to them gets memories of things that's happened to them in the past like how MC did. But it's worse. I want an mc thats traumatized im sorry and i want it to be worse than what half of these guys went through.
I need them to feel guilty even more. Like. "Oh my god I really said that when— holy shit" FEEL BAD!!!!! Grim would already know their past because I know I would be cuddling into Grim's stomach and crying about everything.
When Mc finally stops "Overbloting", the Blot would still be there but as its own person :D How does this work????? it works bc I said it does.
The Blot™ would help MC a lot and vice versa, basically acting like parents now with how worried they get over everyone and the other. Grim is eating the attention up though as both Mc and The Blot cuddle as therapy (and bc they wanna)
Everyone (especially idia) would need time to like... get used to that because there's "NO FUCKING RECORD OF AN OVERBLOT BECOMING ITS OWN PERSON AND BEING....NICE?????"(shrouds words not mine ong) and when they do get used to it its like everyone is genuinely happier because! gasp! they are!!!
kick the crow out the seat. Both the Blot and Mc are the new headmaster contrary to the students voting them when Crowley got demoted from it.
I also feel like....??? Instead of MC goinf back home cause they realize just how BAD it was back home, they choose to have a bridge between both realities so that its their (friends and/or families) choice on if they want to be with them in twisted wonderland or not.
Hi! Could i request Ortho finding out that Idia's online friend and eventually crush is the reader? And eventually he tries to matchmake them?
Hello!! Sorry for disappearing for a whole 2 weeks 💀 I've been busy with life and I ended up writing this fic way longer than I ppanned to. I hope you don't mind! Also, I got really stuck on some parts and wasn't sure which direction to go with the story. Apologies if it feels a little rushed.
Tumblr media
Pr0ject Cupid | Idia x GN! Reader
type: fanfic
Summary: A pair of painfilly awkward people get set up by a member of the said pair's little brother.
5.8k words
tags: silly fluff, mutual crushing
Warning(s): very mild swearing
Tumblr media
no way u acc saw me
bruh i couldve seen you with my eyes closed
you dumbass u just contradicted yourself
no shit
im gonna shave your eyebrows
...
Idia stifled a laugh and couldn't hide the cheesy grin that grew on his face as his eyes read over the pixelated letters on his monitor. About 3 weeks ago, he met you on a random server, and you instantly clicked. He wasn't one to form bonds with people so quickly, whether it was online or in person, but with you, how could he resist?
You got along like Q and W on a keyboard, plus you always reciprocated his nerdy comments and never got the wrong idea about any of his intentions. The only problem was, however, that you had no idea who each other were irl.
So, one day, Idia got curious about who you really were. He ended up searching for you on Magicam using the username he knew you by. There wasn't really much he was expecting as people usually used different names for their social media compared to the more nerdy online stuff.
Idia nearly fell out of his chair when a search result popped up, and a profile with quite a few posts showed up. It was you. There was no way it wasn't you.
His heart began beating faster than usual just at reading your captions, posts of your random thoughts, and the pictures you posted. You were definitely cute, maybe the prettiest person Idia had ever seen. Even though your facial features were pixelated, you somehow managed to make them look soft and warm, like an angelic version of yourself. There were also many pictures of foods you made in the Ramshackle Dorm, selfies with your friends, and a few pictures with Grim.
Okay, now Idia was panicking. He'd never felt the way he felt right now, but from the way his heart was running a marathon and he could feel warmth slowly creeping up his face, there was only one explanation. The description matched how the characters in dating sims would feel, and this was bad. He couldn't have a cru- no no no, a c-word. No way! He didn't even want to think of the word because it would only solidify his predicament in his head.
From his panic, his finger slipped and accidentally liked one of your posts. Idia's eyes widened as he saw the damage he'd already done as his brain went into full panick mode. There was no way to undo it, even if he un-liked the post. The notification must've already gotten to your phone and you would've noticed most likely and you'd block him, think he was a stalker and never speak to him again then he'd be become even more emo and-
He changed from his usual question mark posture in his chair to sitting in a fetal position in the corner of his room, hoping for the atoms in his body to slowly merge into the wall.
His phone in his pocket vibrated, and when Idia pulled out the device to see what the notification was, his heart nearly collapsed on itself. A flinch of his arm caused his phone to be launched across his room, and for some reason, he jumped to catch it, landing on a large, disorganised pile of manga with a loud crash. He hastily unlocked his phone to see what the alert was.
'Your EP has been restored!'
Damn.
There was a smooth sliding of the door to Idia's dorm room. Ortho stood? floated? levitated? at the entrance with a confused, yet worried expression in the visible part of his face.
"Idia? I heard a loud crash, and I was worried you got injured," Ortho floated closer to his brother.
"I'm f-fine!" Idia yelped.
'Hair tinted pink, increasing heart rate, flushed cheeks,'
Ortho's eyes drifted over to Idia's several monitors until he focused on a certain one.
"Yuu's Magicam profile?"
The little robot pieced two and two together before he said, "Oh, you like [Name], don't you?"
-
This was a really, really, really bad idea...
Idia's internal panick only escalated as he was dragged walking through campus with Ortho. Leaving his dorm room usually resulted in a one-sided fight for his life as every dialogue scene he had with another person besides his brother was set to hard mode by default.
Speaking with you in person was the best way to get to know each other better, Ortho would say. The problem was, Idia knew that you didn't know who he was, so it would probably be strange to suddenly have him speaking to you.
He was lost in his panicky thoughts when he felt someone bump into him, and he felt his body tipping back. (So unique and never seen before, I know.)
A hand quickly grabbed his wrist, hoisting him back upright. Ortho sent you a beaming smile with his eyes before quickly disappearing and leaving you alone with his brother, leaving the beanstalk to fend for himself.
Idia's heart nearly flipped in his stomach as he met your eyes. You let go of his wrist when he regained his balance, he almost fell over again.
"Careful," you smiled.
In his eyes, you looked like a panel from a manhwa where the love interest was introduced with flowers, sparkles, and glitter radiating around them.
"S-sorry," He managed to spit out, somehow sounding cohesive.
"It's okay, I just hope you didn't get hurt, I tend to grab onto stuff a little too tightly," you said with a sheepish chuckle.
Your laugh. Idia's ears felt blessed with such a delicate angelic sound. Like bells chiming in his ears, more harmonic than the songs from his favourite idol group's no.1 album. His heart was sent into overdrive, and he couldn't take it anymore and decided on the most rational option in his currently mushy brain.
To run.
So he ran.
You watched his retreating form with a fond look before you turned to face Ortho, who hid in a nearby bush and sent him a thumbs up.
This was progress, at least.
- A few days ago -
You had a crush on Idia. A huge one at that. There was no debate. You didn't even bother denying it.
You knew he rarely left his dorm room, so you barely saw him during the day. Seeing a flash of flamey blue hair dart around a corner just before you could fully get a look at the twitter logo-coloured candle always managed to make your heart squeeze and an undefeatable grin etch itself on your face.
Of course, a few days into talking to your new online friend, you already knew of his true identity but chose not to inform him of the fact. From what you'd seen on campus, he was the type of person to prefer engaging with others through the comfort of a screen rather than conversing face to face. And honestly, you couldn't blame him at all. It must've felt so stifling to always be conscious of the way you carried yourself, while choosing words carefully to not offend the person in front of you or make them think badly of you while simultaneously looking like a sane, functioning person.
So, you talked to him like an online friend would. After a few days of getting to know each other through public servers and direct messaging, you soon shared your interests and found common ground in a few of them. For example, you both were addicted to gacha games with diabolocal pity systems. He also started to open up to you, though you thought it was a little fast, but people tend to share a lot when speaking to someone through pixels on a screen as they felt more at home. He talked about his struggles when interacting with people and his constant anxiety about how people perceived him.
Being someone of minimal social intelligence, the most you could do was offer some general words of comfort about how everyone was different in their own way and some people are just more advantaged in certain aspects of life, social interaction being one of them.
As your feelings grew, you couldn't help but feel like your relationship was a little one-sided. You knew who exactly you were talking to, but as far as Idia knew, he was talking to and building a relationship with a person who could've been miles and miles away and he also barely knew who [Name] was.
Man, this really sucked.
- Yesterday -
Ortho was smart. It was only obvious since his mechanical brain had the efficency of a computer with infinite RAM. He knew his brother had met a new friend online, which explained his less gloomy aura and his anxious glances at his phone whenever they were in his room together.
It didn't take long for Ortho to learn that the person Idia was talking to also attended the same school. In his mind, he viewed finding out things about you as a way to further protect his older brother from harm.
Fast forward to later that day, Ortho cornered found you in the courtyard after you'd lost a bet with Grim and had to buy him a drink from a nearby vending machine.
He called out to you enthusiastically as he practically teleported to you, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
Long story short, Ortho figured out how you felt about Idia, and he was over the moon. His brother finally had someone who he could happily spend time with, and he couldn't be happier for him. He knew Idia better than anyone, and it was certain that getting close to Idia in face-to-face terms would take a lot for him to get used to and he decided it would be best to slowly ease your way into making conversations with him without being forceful or overwhelming him.
Thus began your joint conspiracy to rizz up get to know Idia better.
- Present -
It took about a day for you to come to the conclusion that you'd most likely never see Idia during school hours whether he was on campus or not. Your schedules were so unmatched that it was ridiculous. When you had a lesson in the alchemy labs, he'd be in a P.E lesson and when you were in the history of magic, he'd be in some classroom that might as well be at the other side of Sage's Island.
Luckily for you, Ortho informed you about Idia's current whereabouts. He was in the Board Game Club's classroom, probably playing- you guessed it- board games. It felt like some sort of secret stealth mission, plotting where to catch Idia with Ortho so sneakily. You just hoped that this silly plot would work.
Now that you were in front of the clubroom's door, you had no idea what to do. Your brain already left your body shortly after your heart that was beating a mile a minute and had long since jumped out of your chest to who knows where. You'd worked so hard to get to this point (not really) and now that you were here, what were you going to do?
Showing up at his clubroom unannounced totally sounded like stalker behaviour from some poorly written fanfic, and you definitely were not about that life. What if you just entered casually? Did you have a friend in the board game club? Probably not since you didn't even know the names of the people in your homeroom class, save for Adeuce and Grim.
Deciding to swallow your nerves and whatever other anxiety that was clogging your airways, you calmly slid open the door. Surprisingly, the club had quite a few members present, but it wasn't too densely populated. Your eyes immediately lit up when familiar floaty blue flames caught your attention. He was alone on a table next to one of the room's walls. His usual board gaming partner, Azul, was nowhere to be seen. It was safe to assume he was somewhere exploiting some poor unfortunate soul of all their mortal possessions with his buy-one-get-one-free pair of henchmen.
You approached Idia, more nervous than a turkey the day before Thanksgiving. He noticed you and almost jumped out of his own skin.
Was he dreaming? If not, why else would you show up at the board game club? Before he knew it, he started to sweat. Every step you took closer to him made his poor heart run laps. The confident (Idia's POV. This does not accurately reflect current events.) stride in your step, and the smile you gave him as you approached made his face heat up, and the tips of his hair grow warmer. His flight- please there is absolutely no fight- instinct almost took over as he considered running out of the room at full speed.
There was no Ortho to help him communicate if he ended up having to talk to you. He was all alone for this pop-up Pokemon battle.
A random board game caught your eye, and you picked it up, deciding to use it as a shield to not let your conversation get stabbed in the chest by the painful spear called awkwardness.
"Hi, Idia." You said casually with your usual grin. 'Great start'
You failed to catch Idia's mortified expression as it disappeared as suddenly as it arrived. He opened his mouth to speak, but he couldn't get any words out. To his surprise, you didn't seem to mind his silence and just sat down in the chair across from his.
"Sorry to bother you," you continued, "If you want me gone, just say the word." The second part was intended to be lighthearted as you let out a low chuckle after you were done talking.
He quickly scrambled into his bag and pulled out a slim, grey tablet, and began to type.
"I don't mind you being here at all, [Name]." A voice from the device's speakers that sounded too much like Idia's said. You weren't all too shocked since you'd seen him use it around school a few times and had even seen the thing floating around campus by itself. You'd just never have a conversation with "it".
"Woah, is that a voice program?Did you make it yourself? I've only seen it being used for vocaloids, and even those mess up a few times. Did you use a sample of your voice? Is everything prerecorded? If you-" You blurted out, quickly smacking a hand over your mouth to shut yourself up before you could ramble any further.
Great job, [Name].
Idia's eyes lit up with surprise at your words as he quickly started typing something on his screen. His features moulded into a proud smirk, "Yeah, it's made with a sample of my voice. I made it using a vocaloid as a reference."
"Really?!" You almost jumped out of your seat, eyes practically shining with stars. Gosh, he really was so cool.
He nodded frantically as the tips of his firey hair faded into a warmer hue. Students in his dorm had the same base interests as he did. However, he was almost always too nervous to initiate a conversation with any of them. But with you, the nervousness he felt didn't try to suffocate him for once and instead felt like a sweet, comfy flutter in his chest.
"I found this when I walked into the room, and it looked fun. Wanna play?" Your short exchange feuled you with a little more confidence as you built the courage to ask him to play a board game with you.
You hadn't even looked at the game's cover before picking it up. Imagine your surprise at finding out you'd picked up "Monopoly Bass Fishing Edition".
Great job.
Now, Idia probably saw you as some weird fish-obsessed kid (no offence to Octavinelle) who probably looked up how to make bass fishing bait in their spare time. The cover was hideous. A massive bass fish was in the middle, surrounded by loops of smaller bass fish all saying things in speech bubbles where the letters were modelled to look like bass fish. To top it all off, there was a massive glittery title in the colour of neon orange that said, "Monopoly: Bass Fishing Edition." Underneath in equally as eye tormenting sentence bordered off by a wiggly pink line that read "Get ready to be schooled!" Get it? Coz groups of fishes are called schools-
This was going to be painful.
You liked to think you knew all the rules of Monopoly by heart. Especially after seeing relationships crumble over the neverending board game.
Idia didn't seem phased, so you assumed he already knew the rules of the game, too.
You played for a bit, taking turns to roll a double to see who could start first. The first to roll a double was eventually Idia, so he took the first turn.
-
You knew Idia was competitive from the way he would obliterate the opposition during your online meet-ups in matches. What you didn't expect was to end up going bankrupt after only a few loops around the board. It took a while for you to accept defeat, but after seeing the small, triumphant smile that gently made its way onto Idia's face, any loss was worth it.
Now that you looked around the room, most of the board game club members had long since departed, and it was only you and your blue-haired friend left in the room. A blanket of quiet and slight awkwardness fell over the two of you as you both looked at anything but each other.
"We should uh, but the pieces away," you suggested.
He looked at you, a little surprised at your sudden breach of silence, before he quickly nodded. "R-Right."
After stiffly putting the pieces away, occasionally flinching when the tips of your fingers made contact as you passed some game pieces between yourselves, there wasn't much else for you to do despite twiddling your thumbs. From an outsider's point of view, the aftermath was painfully awkward as neither of you had anything to say. Sitting in silence wasn't always a bad thing, but come on.
Your brain frizzled as you tried to think of something, anything to say to start a conversation.
"Nice weather we're having today." So creative.
As if the universe was saying a big "f*ck you", there was a loud rumble of thunder outside the window before massive raindrops began to smack on to the grass and pavement outside, each with a louder 'plap!' than the previous one each time.
Idia giggled before trying to hold back a laugh, which eventually turned into even more giggles. You stared at him for a few seconds, stunned. You hadn't actually heard him laugh before as he always looked so terrified around you. Sure, he was laughing at your stupidity, but this was a start, right?
It didn't take long for you to join in, laughing at yourself too.
Maybe coming to his clubroom on impulse wasn't so bad after all.
-
"Sam's store is releasing this SSR-tier set of trading cards today, and I have to go get it," Idia muttered to himself as he scurried down a hallway of the Ignihyde dorm. "No one's gonna that early, especially since it's not gonna attract any normies-"
"But what if there's a whole mob of NPCs there? Worst case scenario is a few of them showing up to do some early morning shopping, so grabbing what I need and skidadling outta there is gonna be ez."
Ortho was most likely in his room resting at this hour, so Idia decided not to bother him. Besides, it was only a trip to the school store. He should be fine, right?
Wrong.
It was not ez peasy.
It just happened to be that the same day Idia's treasured ultra rare cards were released on the same day as Sam's new mystery drink that the whole school went crazy for. By the time Idia was about to leave the store after paying for what he came for, the whole area was packed, and it was almost impossible to move. Waves of students rushing to the till after grabbing a bottle of the new beverage washed over the store grounds.
People, people, people, and more people. Sweaty teenagers seemed to fight tooth and nail just to get their hands on a bottle. It was like the kids from the UK when Prime was launched. (iykyk) Everywhere he turned, he seemed to bump into another 3 people and get elbowed by another five. The sheer power of the crowd almost swept him off his feet, and he felt himself being dragged to the opposite direction from where he was headed. He reached his hand out to grab at something, while the other held his cards close to his chest, but there was nothing to hold onto for support. The only option was to become one with the crowd.
As he was about to give up and accept his fate, his outstretched hand was tugged on by a familiar, gentle yet firm grip, which felt like he was being pulled ashore after drifting off into the ocean. Idia's body was pulled upright and into a much less crowded space. A pleasant warmth spread across his chest as he saw the face of his saviour.
A part of him felt mortified while the other felt relieved. He was glad to have been pulled out of the sea of people, but he felt a little lame to have to have been saved by someone else, as if he couldn't handle himself. Another reason, the more obvious one, was because it was you. In his point of view, you always showed up at random times and ended up helping him without realising how much of an impact your actions held.
"I'm getting this feeling of deja vu," you smiled, leading Idia to a bench opposite the store.
"You helped me again-" Idia muttered, his eyes downcast.
You tilted your head, a little confused, "Hm?"
"N-No, it's not that I have a proble-" He cut himself off, "I, um-"
How did he manage to talk himself into a corner like this? Trying to talk to you felt like a puzzle with the myriad of emotions all rushing through his head at once, and he was bound to mess up somewhere.
"Don't sweat it," you responded. Your smile unwavering.
For whatever reason, Idia's anxious jumble of words never phased you. Your willingness to let him take his time when talking to you gave him a sort of confidence, and he could hope to speak with confidence that he didn't even know he was capable of.
A ray of reflected early morning sunlight that bounced off the shiny packaging of what Idia held securely in his hands and it caught your eye.
"Is that (insert game reference here)?!" Your voice cracked as you said the name of the franchise.
The mood was instantly lightened at your change in focus, and Idia felt himself get giddy. He was so happy to share a conversation with someone who wasn't a so-called "normie."
His excitement faded though, a bit, when he looked up to find that you looked slightly disappointed. You looked at Idia in confusion, but shrugged.
You sighed, looking away.
Why were you disappointed? Was it something he did? Oh no, what if you thought he was lame for getting trapped in a crowd like that, and you actually thought he was such a bother the whole time-
"I still haven't managed to get my hands in a copy," you frowned.
"Oh," He sounded stunned, which confused you. "Um, I-" He swallowed, fighting the urge to pull his hood over his head and hide.
"I mean-" Idia's eyes seemed to glance at everything and everywhere other than at you.
His breath caught in his throat, and the feeling multiplied by a gazillion when he saw Ortho watching him from behind a tree. He almost choked on whatever air he'd just managed to inhale into his trachea.
To make matters worse, Ortho held a cute but terrible made neon blue glittery banner that said, "Talk to them, Idia!!!"
Wasn't he resting?
The poor nerd (affectionate) wanted to evaporate on the spot.
"What were you about to say?" You asked, not seeing the silliness behind you.
Idia glanced back and forth between you and Ortho, wishing with every single bone in his body that the 50/50 gacha in front of him right now would go his way and you wouldn't turn around at all.
Imagine his horror when you followed his worryingly mortified gaze, and he saw our eyes widen a fraction, and you slapped a hand over your mouth.
"Ortho?"
He panicked for a good few seconds before he did what he did best and bolted away from you with a stubborn blush creeping up his neck.
"Huh?Wait up!" You called after him, but it was futile.
Ortho soon waved happily at you as he followed Idia back to what you assumed was the Ignihyde dorm.
-
"Where did you-" Idia began, speedwalking to the Hall of Mirrors with more agility than he knew his G-fuel filled body could possess.
"I did some research, and it showed that people your age have a 60% more chance at talking to someone they like when they're encouraged by someone else!" Ortho chirped with the certainty of the sun rising in the east.
"I'm not- It's not-" Idia couldn't find the words to use to retort at his younger brother. The way his sunny amber eyes shimmered with glee was enough to punch the words of protest that Idia could ever muster right down the drain. "J-Just tone it own a notch next time..." He finished with a small frown.
"Okay!" Ortho sang, floating into Ignihyde's mirror after the older Shroud.
Idia signed and pulled the strings of his hoodie tighter to conceal his face more. Now that you were somewhat aware of how he felt about you, he had no idea how to face you the next day.
-
It had been over a week, and you'd gotten no contact from Idia or Ortho. It was safe to assume that Idia probably didn't leave his room a single time in that time frame. A metaphorical banner was built between you as he had practically gone AWOL on everything you could use to contact him. So, you couldn't even talk to him with your online persona and try to understand how he felt by hoping he'd confide in his online bestie even a little. Not that you wanted to intrude on his privacy, but the fact that things seemed to be falling apart between you two before you properly even got to know each other hurt a lot more than th fact that you convinced yourself of- the fact that it looked like he didn't want to see you again. You sighed, closing your computer.
This was pointless. No doubt, he doesn't feel the same way towards you, and you really should start accepting it. Maybe he thought you were strange? Or it was creepy that you always seemed to be around when he was in trouble? Maybe he thought you were a stalker? He'd probably figured out your online identity and blocked you, hence the lack of activity on any of his accounts over the last week and a bit.
But you couldn't accept it. Not until you know more, and you don't think it'll help if you keep prying at the subject, especially since it won't do any good in the end. It was useless to keep trying. You grabbed your phone and checked the screen for any messages, but there were none. You put it back on the nightstand and turned on your side, burying your face in your pillow.
You lay there for what felt like forever and eventually fell asleep.
-
Morning soon arrived, and you woke up to a series of knocks at the main door of Ramshackle Dorm. The quick thuds of knuckles striking wood resounded throughout the whole bottom floor of the building, probably enough to alert your cat roommate out of his venture into Dream Land.
The perpetrator was definitely unexpected. It was a fine weekend, and you hadn't been expecting a visit from anyone at all, especially not the younger Shroud brother.
Rubbing your eyes and letting out a yawn as you opened the door, you had to squint to see something else other than a mop of flickering blue and a white block.
"Ortho?" You blinked. Your statement sounded more like a question to yourself than to the other party.
"Good morning!" Ortho said cheerfully, waving with one arm while balancing an assortment of books and various games under the other. He was carrying four plastic bags full of stuff, including a large bowl with some cereal, milk, eggs, toast, fruit, and orange juice inside it.
"Err..." you replied.
"We came to hang out!" Ortho cheered, which confused you even more.
"What? And who's 'we'??" You questioned all at once, not even knowing where to begin.
"Idia wants to apologise for running away from you for the past week. He said he's really sorry and did it because he was scared," he rambled on with his usual cheery tone and pointed to a nearby tree, "And we brought food!"
Behind said tree stood said Idia, holding onto the tree's bark with a grip for dear life while only the top half of his face peeked out.
What.
- Flashback to earlier -
"Now, what do I do? This is demon mode difficult- I'd rather fight Absolute Virtue from the original release of FF11 all over again for 16 hours straight than face them again... Can I get an F in the chat for this one..." Idia mumbled to himself in a string of incomprehensible gibberish as he sat in a fetal position at the corner of his room while his hood covered his entire head, and he rocked back and forth.
"This is the worst-"
"Cheer up, Idia!" Ortho handed him a charger, "You can always talk to them online if it helps!"
"At this point, they've probably forgotten about me. People's online friends get Men in Black'ed from their brains all the time. I'll just look like some weird guy that goes,'Hey kids!wanna to get free RAM for your computer?' or something-" his rampant thoughts only dug him further into his self-made pit of despair.
"Hmm," Ortho pondered, "Let's go see them!"
"Are you kidding?! No way!" He shook his head rapidly and started rocking himself even faster, "If they don't see me, maybe they'll even forget I exist and I can become one with the void..."
"Don't be ridiculous, Idia. We can go see them right now!" Ortho hovered around, gathering a bunch of gaming equipment and books, "Hanging out like friends will get rid of any tension in the air!"
"No!" Idia protested, but it was too late.
He'd already been picked up by a robotic arm, and off they went.
-
"That's pretty much what happened," Ortho recalled as you lead the pair the lounge.
"Right... But I still don't get how that means he's sorry..." You muttered.
"Why don't you tell them, Idia?" Ortho looked at his brother, "I'll leave you two to talk here while I make some snacks!"
The older Shroud twiddle his fingers and stared at the floor, his hood still covering his head.
It took a few seconds of silence before Idia began talking.
"Uh," he spoke quietly and cleared his throat twice before proceeding, "I was so stupid."
"Huh?" You said, gaping at Idia.
"I know I've done stupid things, but this was beyond stupid. Like, way too stupid! Noob at Subway Surfers level of stupid!" He babbled on, his voice cracking with uncharacteristic emotion.
He took a deep, shaky breath and closed his eyes, attempting to compose himself. His hair turning pink. "I kept telling myself it was okay for us to keep being friends online even though I found your Magicam page and accidentally liked one of your posts and knew who you were but you didn't know who I was and I felt guilty and then you suddenly showed up then I realised I l-l-like you and then that thing at the shop happened and you probably thought it was so cringe-"
Then it clicked. So he thought you thought he was weird? He didn't hate you.
It felt like a huge weight was lifted off your chest.
Then, you chuckled, snickered, giggled, then let out waves of laughter. Idia stared at you, dumbfounded.
"This whole time, haha, I thought I was the one who did something wrong."
"No! You didn't," He quickly jumped in.
"Wait, you just said that you like me...?" You pointed to yourself, and you felt your face grow warm.
Silence landed like a wall of pure steel between the two of you.
He gaped at you with wide eyes. Dang it! He seriously didn't mean to blurt that part out loud. Curse him and his tendency to blab everything he thought aloud as soon as he started talking!
Idia covered his reddened face with his hands.
"What a coincidence," you smiled, "Since I like you too."
You gently pulled his hands away from his face and gave him your brightest grin. He froze as soon as your skin made contact, and his breathing quickened, his hair turned a full, passionate pink.
"Ahahahaha...!" He stammered.
A sudden noise filled both the room, followed by a long silence, causing the both of you to turn towards the source. Your heads turned in sync to see Ortho standing at the door with a camera after it let out a painfully loud 'click!'
He gave the pair of you a huge smile with his eyes.
"For memories' sake!" He cheered.
-
Bonus
After you'd made breakfast together with the ingredients that the brothers brought, you, Idia and Ortho, sat in a triangle on the floor, while Grim watched lazily from the sofa. It was more of a joint interrogation performed against the little robot with Grim serving as an audience.
"So, Ortho, you knew Idia already knew who I was?" You raised an eyebrow, "And you knew about how he felt??"
"And you already knew that they liked me? And you knew they knew who I was and didn't tell me??" Idia squeaked, "And you told them to come to the store that day?!"
Ortho picked up a controller and was suddenly immersed in gameplay.
"Haha..." He sweatdropped.
babysitter’s dutyヽ( ・∀・)ノ_θ彡☆Σ(ノ `Д´)ノ,ヽ( ・∀・)ノ_θ彡☆Σ(ノ `Д´)ノ ;; summary. ‘one must put in the strength to babysit these young ones.’
Tumblr media
characters. ignihyde , purgatory hall , kindergarten crew : ortho shroud , luke , klee , diona , qiqi , yaoyao ( separate ) ;; platonic . 🖇️ tags. reader is gender neutral ( you/your ), reason for babysitting is unspecified, a pinch of crack, silly fluff, perhaps ooc ( haven’t played om and genshin in quite a bit )
📡 _a/n. i don’t actually know the fandom name for the kid characters in genshin, oopsie. anyway, i’ve been thinking about doing something like this for a while but it took a while to write it down— and yet still, more of a filler post than anything. but now i’m finally writing some obey me stuff!!
. ‘ a smooth time babysitting this kid will probably take a blessed prayer from whatever god is out there listening to you— do your best to get that pay, but no matter what you’re certainly not getting paid enough for this. explosions and troublemaking galore, you can only hope you can smooth out any troubles before their caretaker finally shows up. and god forbid they find any sort of incentive to mess about, either. inevitably, you might find yourself apologizing to some random passersby if you end up taking your babysitter job outside, as well..’
klee, ortho ( ? more relating to mentioned incentive ), diona
. ‘ thankfully, this young one isn’t that difficult to watch over. whether they’re more mature for their age than expected or are just not that much of a troublemaker, babysitting them is certainly a breeze. although you might get involved in one or two shenanigans depending on their mood or the time or day, there’s not much anything to stress you out. you should thank their caretaker for teaching them to be such a polite and respectful child— to you, at least, because time flew quite fast while they were in your care. ’
luke, yaoyao, qiqi
‘ although the kid you were babysitting was certainly responsible and seemed simple enough to take care of, perhaps it would’ve been better to keep them away from whatever would set them off like a ticking time bomb. whether that be someone teasing them ( luke ), someone disrespecting their caretaker ( ortho ), or perhaps being in even the vicinity of a winery ( diona ), something is certain to happen to get you in a pickle. deal with it quickly, otherwise trouble will spring about. ’
diona, luke, ortho
I heard you wanted to write some angst so I got some for you.
Imagine the TWST boys bullied reader which causes it to breaks readers trust all together and is no longer on good terms with them. It's all around thick tension when they are all alone together in a room, so they try to gain readers trust back again and reader wants absolutely nothing to do with them, and whatever they give to reader reader breaks/destroys it in their face. They keep trying, but are greeted with harsh words, or just in general silence. So during this let's imagine she was dating one of the boys during this preferably Trey. So it ends with them confronting her and reader calling them out on their bullshit and most importantly Trey. So reader ends up yelling at them like this so after that they stop trying and reader gets into more fights because Cater and Rook spread false rumors about reader, and you can decide what everyone else did to reader so Reader leaves slamming the door. Reader only let's Ortho be around her which he ends up doing after reader loosens up around him. So reader and Ortho are best friends and everyone tries to get info out of him about reader but Ortho doesn't allow it bc reader told him not to so he shuts them all down.
Gender neutral reader pls? Sorry if it's long too I just rlly like angst 😋
Twst characters x gn! Reader
A/n: omg I am so sorry for this being late😓 I hope you still enjoy tho dear anon:) sorry that it's a bit short and also no worries! Your not being annoying!
Tw: bullying, mentions of mental health(?) Mentions of online harassment and I think that it!
--
You sigh as you once again hear another knock coming from downstairs. You couldn't believe that these idiots are still bothering you even after everything they have done to you.
"They won't stop will they?" Grim asks while you just stare at the ceiling.
"No"
Soon another knock was heard again followed by the two voices you wish not to hear.
"Y/n! Please open the door"
"Can we please talk?" You scoff at their audacity for disturbing you and grims peace. You got up from your bed and opened the window to see them standing outside your door.
"Fucking leave me alone!" You yelled out which grabbed the attention of both ace and deuce.
"Wait-"
Before any of them could finish talking you slam your window shut. You let out a frustrated sigh and clenched your fists.
"The audacity of those two!" You say as you feel tears slide down your cheeks.
You couldn't believe that they still have the guts to talk to you after what they put you through. Not just them but also everyone. They all bullied the hell out of you to the point that your mental health wasn't good.
They made you feel worthless and a burden to the point that you begged Crowley to hurry up with the process of taking you back home. You couldn't do it anymore. The bullying, insults, and the borderline harassment you received by some of vil and cater followers.
You couldn't take it anymore. Not wanting to talk or see them you kept yourself isolated as possible in ramshackles. Only leaving when it is time for class etc. The only good part about this whole situation was that you had grim by your side. He was there when you would cry after the insults they will throw at you. And not only that, but you had the octotrio plus ortho by your side including malleus, lilia, silver and sebek.
Without them you're sure you would have gone completely insane by the others bullying. Azul, floyd and jade help you in secret. Pretending that they didn't like you in front of the others but in close doors they would comfort you and try to help you.
But soon, you weren't safe in the comfort of your own dorm when some of them would come by and throw eggs, tomatoes and other things by your door. You felt absolutely useless knowing that this torture won't stop. It became even worse when you later started hearing rumors being spread about you. To the point that other students would ignore you or walk up to you to ask if the rumors were true.
You felt like shit. You didn't know what to do. All you wanted in those moments was comfort. Someone to come whisk you away and tell you that everything will be okay.
You ignored all of them. Their venomous words and just them in general. Later on you just didn't react to what they had to say. You didn't scream, cry, or plead for them to shut up.
Nothing
And that is when some of them realize what they had done. Everytime you were in a room with them, they could sense the thick tension in that room. You would just blankly stare ahead with your fists clenched tightly against your side.
They didn't like this at all. And because of this, they would come up to you and ask to talk but you would just walk past them. Some would try to give you gifs as an apology but you would just stare deep into their eyes and rip or break it infront of their face.
When some of them would come crying begging you to forgive them but you would just scoff before saying harsh words to them that will cause them to stay there in shock.
Why would you waste your time if all they did was talk shit about you and treat you like shit.
Which later leads to trey confronting you alongside riddle, cater and the adeuce duo.
"Y/n we seriously need to talk"
You just stare at your soon to be ex lover as he starts explaining that your behavior is wrong and childish. And that was when you snapped.
"Childish? Childish?! Oh please trey. My behavior is anything but fucking childish!"
"You guys did this to me! You guys fucking did this to me!!"
"I had to suffer with you and everyone bullshit! You all caused me nothing but pain and suffering!"
"Y/n-"
"Shut it ace!" He quickly shut up and just watched as you started trembling from anger.
"You are all fucking dead to me"
"You don't mean that" you look at trey and just laugh.
"I do, I fucking mean every fucking word. You are all dead to me and I don't want to talk or see any of you guys again"
"Wait please-"
"And were over trey"
And you stormed out of heartsalbyul dorm.
You cut off all of them. By changing your number so they won't spam call you during the night and demanding Crowley to not let any of them step even a damn foot near ramshackles.
You also made Crowley change your class schedule so you won't have to see any of them in class. Only having classes with the ones who were there for you during those hard times. And for lunch, you were allowed to eat at the monstro lounge with no chances of bumping into them during lunch time.
Of course, because of this some of them were desperate to talk to you. Seeing that ortho was always by your side, idia would beg his little brother to give him information about how you were doing. Which ortho would just sadly look at him and shake his head as a no to giving his brother any information.
And idia isn't the only one. The others would desperately come to him for any info about you but he would just shut them down and walk away.
They all did everything they could to make it up to you. But you didn't accept any of their apologies or useless gifts. Your friends made sure to not let any of them be near you or even in your eyes of sight. Even if it means that ortho had to shoo his brother away from being near you.
In the end, you didn't forgive any of them and continued to get help from your friends to forget all those horrible memories.
Tumblr media
"Prefect, what are you going to wish for?"
Out of everyone to ask you this popular question, it's Ortho. You expected Deuce to at some point, but with him running around the school and trying to be the best Stargazer around, you doubt he'd have the time. Hell, you even thought Trey might humor you and ask. Neither had.
"I let Grim take the wish," you answer.
"Oh, you share a Wishing Star?" You nod. He hums. "But if you could wish for something, what would it be?"
It's such an obvious answer, you think. Anyone who knows you (which may as well be everyone at this point) would know your number one wish.
'I wish I could find a way back home.'
Perhaps that's why the other two hadn't bothered asking you the question.
Yet, you find yourself hesitating to utter those simple words. Those same ones you chanted relentlessly during your first night here. Oh, how they had slipped from your lips daily back then.
You want to go home, that is your goal...or so you've been telling yourself. Lately, the thought hasn't crossed your mind. It made you wonder- did you even want to go home? Back to that familiarity, the comfort of your home, your family. A part of you does. It's a little unsettling how weak that 'wish' of yours is considering you couldn't even voice it.
"My wish isn't that important," you answer.
"Afraid it won't be granted?" This time it's Idia who chimes in, his voice coming loud and clear from his tablet. For a second, you thought he'd been preoccupied with a game with how silent he'd been. "This is all just for fun if you can call it that..." You can hear a long sigh come from the tablet. "'Sides, bet your wish can't be as lame as new shoes."
"That isn't lame!" Ortho rebuttals and huffs. "I think all wishes are worthwhile. Especially since they all come from the wisher's heart. The Wishing Star hears what they truly want as they put all their hopes and dreams to make it come true."
"...and magic," Idia mumbles, his volume a lower setting than earlier.
"Even I have one!" Ortho then returns his gaze to you. He doesn't need to repeat his question. The bright-eyed and curious look in his eyes is enough to know that he is waiting for your answer.
And boy, is it hard to turn him down. Especially when he's looking at you like that.
The thing is, you really hate how seriously you're taking this question. It's meant for fun, but you've heard a couple of wishes already. Even if their wishes are forced out of them, they're genuine enough that they want them to be true.
You consider an easy way out. Wishing for Grim's wish to come true or perhaps your friends to stay out of trouble for at least a week. Better housing would be nice and so would some extra thaumarks.
But is that what your heart really wants?
"I know your wish already," Idia says, monotone. "You wana go home, right?"
"And what if I say it's not?" You challenge, a little too quickly for your own benefit. You didn't mean to blurt that out, but now you've caught both of their attention. At least, you assume so from Ortho's gaze and the 'oh' that came from the tablet.
Damn it. Now you have to think of one- and quick! Wishing for a wish might work at this point.
That is, until something sparks from your chest. A wish that lay deep in your heart and lingers whenever you're around a certain housewarden who'd been forced to become a Stargazer against his will. It causes your cheeks to warm, and your gaze to shift elsewhere from the two hovering beside you.
"Well..." You raise a hand and scratch at your cheek. Now you wish that Deuce or Trey had asked. Neither would make fun of you for it, maybe question your decision, but in the end, they would encourage it. To say it in front of him, though...that is out of the question!
"I'll only tell Ortho."
"Huh?! B-But I'm the Stargazer here?!"
"And you're not here in person." Despite your blush, you wear a proud grin. "Besides, it's an unofficial wish. You technically don't need to hear it."
Grumbling comes from the tablet and you feel a little bad for excluding him. Although, he could always get it from his brother if he really wanted to hear it. And if he finds out...well, what could you do?
For now, you gesture for Ortho to come closer. The boy hovers with a hop in his...floating steps. When he's close enough you lean towards him. Your lips close to where his ears would be and a hand raises to conceal them from the tablet's lens.
"I wish...to play the sequel to Star Rogue with Idia when it comes out."
Ortho lets out a gasp as he hovers away from you as if you had just sent a shock through his system. His eyes are brighter than ever, almost like a Wishing Star. His hovering seems bouncier as his gaze drifts between you and the floating tablet. For a second you think he's going to blurt something out to give away what you wished for, but he only smiles behind his mask.
"I'm sure your wish will come true!"
"H-Hey, you can tell me your wish now, can't you?" Idia asks, almost pleading.
"It's a secret!" You shout before Ortho could respond. "Please, don't tell him."
"I won't." Ortho declares right in front of Idia. "I'll even keep the recording safe from him." He chuckles. "I'm so happy to hear a wish like that. It makes me very happy."
"Ortho," Idia whines, but his brother doesn't budge. "Ugh. Whatever. I don't want to hear a normie wish anyway..."
~...~
"What's up, Ortho?" Idia asks, taking his eyes away from the screen for a moment. His brother had been in a cheerful mood lately. He figured it was thanks to the festival, but lately, he seemed...happier. If that is even possible. It could be due to the fact that the final event, aka Idia's doomsday, is upon them.
"I just can't wait until we send off all the wishes," he chirps. His gaze drifts upwards as his mind creates an image of the perfect setting for their hard work. Despite the news about the weather, Ortho still has his hopes up.
"That makes one of us..." he mumbles. He does his best not to rain on his brother's parade, but could you blame him? Just thinking about what he has to do sends a cold chill down his spine. He needs to get his mind off his cursed role. "You wana tell me what the Prefect's wish is?"
Ortho doesn't respond, only giving his brother an angry look. "As they said, it's a secret!"
Couldn't blame him for trying, right?
"I guess it really was to go home. What else would they want?"
"Nope! They weren't lying about that." Ortho was serious when he said he wouldn't tell him your wish. It made him feel lighter, and happier, to know that someone else has a place for Idia in their heart. Of course, he wanted to tell Idia your wish. He was certain it would make his brother happy, even if he may deny it.
"Can I at least get a hint?"
Ortho pauses.
"I suppose a hint wouldn't hurt." It's not like his brother would guess it correctly anyway. So, your secret wish is definitely safe with him! "The Prefect and I have a similar wish."
"Huh."
Idia...isn't sure what he means by that. Sure, he overheard Ortho's wish, but it couldn't be the same, could it? The Prefect, as overly kind as they were, wouldn't dare to waste something like that on him...would they? This is a wish! They could literally wish for anything!
And yet, it wasn't to go home...what could be more important to you than that? To think it could relate to him in some way...was he that important to you? He could feel his face burning up already. Hopeful thoughts begin to form and he has to push them away before they decide to stay.
"N-No way they'd wish for anything like that..." He breathes out, not caring if his brother hears him. "It has to be something more basic. Definitely."
Idia nods, agreeing with himself. While his curiosity concerning your wish will linger in his mind, for now, he decides to focus on his current game. Star Rogue.
"Brother," Ortho starts as he resumes watching him play. "Do you think the Prefect could play Star Rogue with us sometime?"
"Eh?" He blinks, caught off guard by the question, and actually has to pause the game to look at his brother. "Wh-Why would they want to? I mean, I know why. Star Rogue is a top-tier game and any true gamer has to 100% it at least twice in their life. But...why with us?"
"I think it would be fun! Don't you?"
Idia bites down on his lips. He'd be lying if he said he hadn't been wanting to play games with you. You manage to hold yourself in gamer talk despite not knowing this world's games. Which is startling to him. And the games you spoke of from your home? Some sounded like rip-offs from his world while others sounded like they could rival his favorite game. Or at least you made it sound like they could with how you spoke of them.
The only problem was initiating a conversation and finding the perfect dialogue options to lead him on that route.
"Could be fun, I guess..." He answers. "B-But not right now! After this stargazing nonsense is over...I don't need two big events back to back right now."
"I can't wait! I'm sure they'll be happy to hear it!" Ortho chuckles. Even if you didn't have a Wishing Star and your wish didn't count, Ortho would do his best to ensure it comes true.
For you and his brother, he'll make sure that this year's Starsending is 100% successful.
In rare instances, humans are given soul matches. It is an odd occurrence, but in a select few families, it is quite common to have one. One of these families being the Shrouds.
There is a story, a myth from aeons past, of a woman using a ball of thread to lead her and others in her company to safety. There is another tale, that one’s life is like that of a string, which the three fates cut with their shears. Strings connect things. Connect people in often invisible ways. They can create. If one snaps, or is loose, everything can unravel. But they can also ensnare; like the sticky strings of a spider’s web. Strings are something the Shroud family is well acquainted with. Alongside the family curse was a family blessing, placed upon them by the God of the Underworld.
No two strings are the same, as they reflected the qualities they shared with the person at the other end. The base colour would stay the same, but the brightness would change with their match’s emotions and well-being. The brighter and lighter the colour, the happier and better their match was. The darker the colour… it meant they were unwell, or under extreme conditions. But there were conflicting ideas within the family over the generations, all written down in a codex that dated back to the very first Shroud.
But, as with any blessing, there is a price to pay for such happiness. For nothing in this world comes for free. Each Shroud is born with two strings. The string on the right leads to the person who will love them for them, of comfort zones, a safety net if you will. The string on the left leads to someone who will change them, make them reassess their life. Right is the known, and left is the unknown. These strings can lead to many different types of relationships; familial, platonic, romantic, and many more.
The strings don’t ever disappear, but if the other person connected by the string dies, then their shared string snaps. The thread around their finger, now white, serving as a cruel reminder of what was. Or in some cases, of what could have been.
Another steep price is that the person at the end of the winding thread, should they choose their match, will also be subjected to the Shroud family’s curse. So there are many cases across the decades of select Shrouds choosing to ignore the thread, to not bring someone else to their fate. But not all matches felt the same way, as a few matches actively searched and confronted their match. These pairings serve as a reminder; that even though you may try to ignore fate, it will catch up to you. And both are transported into a labyrinth, disguised from each other; only able to get out with each other and without the one looking back.
Is this guarantee of happiness truly worth putting someone else, someone innocent, through the same cursed fate as them though? Many a Shroud, if not all, are conflicted by the prospect. Should happiness really come at the cost of someone else’s? Even if they would be happy together?
Idia looked into the crib where the yellow string on his right hand led, glowing a faint sunshine gold. This baby — Ortho — was supposed to be the person who will love him for him?
“Idia, honey, what’s with the frown,” his mom asked, tucking a strand of hair behind his ear.
Idia peered into the crib, where Ortho was peacefully sound asleep. “My thread leads to him,” he muttered. He knew that eventually he and Ortho would bond, but it would be several years until the two could really get close. You can’t exactly have a conversation or play more complex games with a baby. “What does that mean?”
Mrs. Shroud hummed, her usual chipperness being a bit more subdued due to the little amount of sleep she was getting. Well, both parents really, but Mr Shroud just was extra tired and quiet when compared to his wife. “Well, remember the stories I tell you when you go to sleep, honey?”
“Like… Ariadne and the string? But that’s just a story, Mom,” Idia huffed, pushing the mobile and making the pegasi fly in a slow circle. “Plus Ariadne didn’t have a happy ending… the hero didn’t stay with her.”
Mrs. Shroud’s eyes were fixed on him, and she was thinking. “Well, the string that led to Theseus was on her left hand, dear; the left string changes us, for better or for worse. But on her right hand was another string, much like the string on yours. The string on your right hand is for those who will love you as you are. Regardless of what happens.”
Idia looked down into the crib again, where the pegasi cast dancing shadows. “But he’s so … small.”
“Well he is a baby,” Mrs. Shroud laughed, looking between her bewildered son and her peacefully sleeping baby. “Don’t worry, before long the two of you will be running and playing. You’ll be the best of friends, trust me. Okay?”
Idia didn’t look impressed but he nodded at his mom before heading back to his room. He finally knew where the yellow string, the string on his right hand, led. But why was the string on his right hand floating up before fading out into nothingness? A translucent thread, save for the tiniest hint of blue. No one in the stories, either old or new, had a string that went up. If his soul match were dead his thread would be white and hanging limply off of his finger. But no, it just led somewhere where he couldn’t see. A place that no one knew of.
Left strings lead to someone who will change us. But Idia had heard enough stories of how left threads led to either happiness or utter despair. After all, Ariadne’s left thread only brought her heartbreak, and her other soul match, the God of Revelry, was the only one that brought her solace.
Laughter haunted his mind. Cheer-filled laughter. Love. memories haunted his mind. But they were only that, memories. Memories could not replace Ortho. Memories could not bring back his brother. Memories could not fix everything that has happened.
It’s all my fault. He looked down at the mechanical parts. It’s all my fault. How long has it been since he last slept? It’s all my fault. “It’s all my fault,” he hissed, shoving the parts away in frustration.
Ortho wouldn’t have… We wouldn’t- Ortho would still be here if it weren’t for me! That was what Idia constantly told himself since the incident. If it weren’t for me, Ortho would be here! I’m no hero! I just want my brother back! GIVE ME MY BROTHER BACK!
But he wouldn’t get Ortho back, not truly. Death is a permanent thing, it cannot be undone. But Idia was not the only one hurting, for his parents were also grieving.
“Island of Woe,” Idia sighed, looking into the reflection off of one of the many monitors. “Rather fitting. Nothing but misery… but pain. Is this to be our fate?” His hair, once a dull blue, was now shining a brilliant angry red. “Is this Ortho’s fate? To die because of my influence?! He’s a kid! HE DIDN’T KNOW!” I’m just a kid. But as soon as the anger came up, it vanished, and the room went back to its dim blue glow from the multiple screens showing blueprints.
Sighing, Idia went back to work, fiddling with wires and reading over blueprints and various magic texts. If magic alone could not bring back Ortho, then maybe technology could. The past two years have been like this; Idia working long into the night, trying to find a way, any possible way, to bring Ortho back.
It’s all my fault, so the least I can do is make it right. He didn’t care how long it took him, he was going to make sure that Ortho would be back home.
The thread on the right-hand leads you to someone who will love you as you are. Idia loved Ortho, and he would still love him, even if his brother was now made of steel and wires.
“Here goes nothing.” What was this, the one-hundredth attempt? He spent nearly three months working on this body, but now was the moment of truth. “Please, please work.”
And he started up Ortho’s programming, waiting for the blue flame to ignite. And as the blue flame sparked to life, the string on Idia’s right hand connected itself to Ortho. Glowing a blinding yellow, changing from a bright pastel to a dark ochre, mirroring the complex emotions running through the older Shroud’s mind.
But the string on his left hand was still translucent and led nowhere, nowhere but up.
Eyes, eyes are everywhere. Voices are everywhere. And Idia could see all of this from the other side of the screen. Where the others were standing around the mirror chamber, whispering amongst themselves, Idia sat at his desk, watching everything take place. He really didn’t even want to be there, even virtually, but the Housewarden of each dorm was required to attend, he just happened to pull a few strings so he didn’t have to endure the social interaction.
Besides, the ceremony was the same every year, and Idia really didn’t need to be there to welcome the newcomers. So he wasn’t, instead watching and adding his input as needed, working on a new customization for Ortho. He looked down at his hand. The thread on his left hand was still translucent and went nowhere but up, fading into nothing. Idia still didn’t know what that was meant to mean, and there were no records in the family library or database about any other cases.
Left is the unknown. Left is what changes you. But what is there to change? Why should Idia change? He looked to his right hand, where the yellow thread on his pinky connected to Ortho. Right is who loves you for you. All Idia needed was Ortho, he didn’t need nor want anyone else. Especially someone waltzing in uninvited to throw a wrench in his life. Ortho was all Idia needed. Ortho was all Idia wanted. Never again was he going to lose his brother. He would go to the ends of the world and back for him.
The ceremony didn’t go off without a hitch though. Through the screen, Idia saw blue fire, saw students clamouring out to escape the flames. But the fire is not what caught Idia’s eye though, no. What caught his eye was that the thread on his left hand was glowing blue, and led outside his door, out into the campus of Night Raven College.
He felt a lump form in his throat. Left changes you. The thread dulled in its luminosity, becoming clouded. Confused. Both Idia and the person at the other end of the thread were confused. For Idia, it was that the thread was… active? It was the realization that the person who would change him was here, and that thought alone terrified him. But for the other person at the end of the thread, it was an entirely different kind of confusion. It was more along the lines of “Where the hell am I? WHY AM I IN A COFFIN?! WHY IS EVERYTHING ON FIRE?!” type of confusion.
And out of all the possible colours it had to be blue. Blue has many meanings; inspiration, imagination, trust, and wisdom. But also sadness. Feeling blue was called that for a reason. Blue hardly brought anything without sadness. But at the same time, it was all too fitting that the thread that he shared with his soul match was blue. Of course, Idia would bring nothing but sadness to his match.
Would I change them for the worse? I can’t drag them into this… I can’t do this. “I’m sorry, but I can’t be in your life,” he whispered, grabbing a pair of scissors. He drew the thread taut and brought the blades in, before snipping. But the tread didn’t break, instead, it cut through the scissors, changing from faded blue to a blazing gold, before fading back to blue.
Yeah, there was no chance of Idia removing the molten scissors from the floor of his room. His face paled, and he stared at the thread.
Others had tried to cut the thread off before him, but the scissors just bounced off. They didn’t cut through and melt metal. That wasn’t normal. None of this was normal. Idia wasn’t normal.
“Who are you?” But the thread didn’t answer, still glowing faintly, shifting from cyan to navy. The cyan shifted to navy, indicating they were feeling much the same. Idia brought his knees to his chest and hid his head into the space between them. Who are you, and what’s going to happen?
Saying that you weren’t happy would be a gross understatement. You were the furthest thing from happy. You were here, wherever here was, you nearly got burned alive by some cat creature that had adopted you as his hench-human, and some weird birdman had “graciously” let you stay in a dilapidated house infested with ghosts. So yeah, you were not having a good night.
“Why,” you seethed, looking through the cracked windows at the darkening sky. “Why me?” But all you got for an answer was creaking wood and the whistling of wind coming in through the many cracks in the walls and ceiling. You plopped down on one of the ancient sofas and fell straight through to the ground. Yeah, sure, why not?!
Today was a mess, a disastrous mess. But at least now, everything was quiet… for the most part, but whatever was to come could wait until tomorrow when you were somewhat well rested. In all of the ruckus and noise though, there was a silent change. Curiously, on each hand, on your pinky, were coloured strings.
On your right, a purple string, glowing with lilac and deep violet. With that string, you saw where it ended, which was on Grim’s right paw. But on your left hand, you couldn’t see the ending for the blue thread, glowing a faint navy. It led outside of the door and kept on going before disappearing off into campus. You didn’t know what strings meant here, but back at home, red strings were a popular trope in soulmate fanfiction. Here though? No clue. What does it mean to have two? Why were they different colours? Why did they just appear now?
The glowing strings didn’t answer, of course, and continued glowing. Fading between different shades of their respective colours, but the blue string remained a dark navy. To be fair though, nothing really made sense here. So, sure, why not?
There’s no bed… well, a proper bed. So the floor it is I guess. It wasn’t the most ideal of situations, but it was a bit better than sleeping outside. Looking up to the ceiling, you started counting the cracks to take your mind off of things. Fifty-six, fifty-seven… How many cracks could a ceiling have until it didn’t count as a ceiling? Sighing, you tugged at the blue string, seeing if you would get some kind of answer back. But nope. Nada. Zero. You got zilch as an answer. But the string was less of the dark, deep, navy, and there was a hint of a true blue in the mix.
You rubbed your eyes and kept on tugging at the string every time you counted another crack. One hundred and … I lost count FU- you groaned in defeat. You gave one last pull at the string before deciding to try and get some shut-eye. If today was just beginning, then, boy howdy, more chaos and shenanigans were sure to come your way. And what chaos and shenanigans they were.
Idia was antsy today, more antsy than usual. Every night, at around the same time, he would feel the thread on his left pinky tug. It was insistent, but it was the same number every time. He hadn’t made any sort of move with his string since he tried to cut it. And honestly, he was scared to even touch it. Fearing that should he interact with the string, that it would bring his other soul match into his life. Finally, he felt the last tug, which was always the strongest, and sighed with relief.
At first, Idia thought it was just his match trying to get his attention, and that was still a possibility, but it was the same amount of tugs every night. They didn’t pull the string at any other time, only at night. So perhaps trying to get his attention wasn’t the point. Maybe it was Morse code? But the tugging was the same quick motion. Unless his match was just saying E two hundred and thirteen times with a T at the end, they weren’t trying to get a message across. Then what did they want? What were they doing? Why were they doing it?
“Why am I thinking about them,” he hissed under his breath, placing his forehead on his desk. I don’t want to think about them… they’ll change everything.
And while many people in his family had good relationships with their match on their left string, there was always the chance that it could end horribly. They would hate me anyways… the only one that likes me is Ortho. All I need is Ortho.
“They can’t hate you if you don’t give them the chance to know you!” Ortho had seamlessly snuck into the room, and apparently Idia had said his thoughts out loud too. Ortho looked at Idia’s left hand, he couldn’t actually see the thread, but he knew it was there, and he knew it had appeared the day of the ceremony. Knew that Idia was quietly obsessing on not meeting his soul match. “You can’t avoid them forever, nii-san!”
I can’t avoid them forever. Ortho was right in that, since the threads would tighten and force the reluctant one — aka Idia — to them. And he cringed at the thought of his thread practically dragging him to his soul match. If they already thought he was some loser, then surely that introduction wouldn’t bolster any confidence. “They don’t need me… they don’t want me.”
Ortho frowned, and their connected thread turned a dark ochre, reflecting Ortho’s frustration at his older brother’s resistance. “How do you know that, though?”
“I just do,” Idia huffed.
He loved his younger brother, loved him so much that he couldn’t live without him, but sometimes Idia wished that he would drop the subject of soul matches. Stop trying to make him change his mind. Right is for those who love you regardless of everything. But Idia knew Ortho only did it to try and make him happy. Left is who changes you.
Ortho yanked on their thread, forcing Idia out of his own head. “No, no you don’t. And maybe they won’t change you, but you just might change for them.” Change is a part of life. Enjoy life, Idia. Ortho didn’t say that though, hoping that Idia would get out of his comfort zone, take a chance, go on a quest, and find the other person at the end of the string. Wherever they may be.
Something was wrong. The thread on your finger had turned black, and led to nowhere, fading into the air. It had happened right as you had entered the air zone of the Island of Woe.
Go back! Turn back! Now is a BAD time! But was there ever a good time? Would there ever be a good time? And despite the alarm bells practically screaming in your head, you advanced. Originally you came here to rescue your friends — even if a few were more reluctant to call you that — but there was something more. It was as if you were here for a reason.
The right string, your string that led to Grim, was glowing a faint, dark violet. He’s scared. And like hell were you going to abandon your demanding fur-child. Yes, he gave you constant migraines and set the kitchen on fire too many times to really count — forty-seven though according to Deuce — but you loved the little asshole. Loved him enough to face down Idia… Idia who was surrounded by blot. But that wasn’t all, no. Both of you were in a maze, a labyrinth, made of ink. And Idia wasn’t all there, and you knew that a part of him was outside of the maze, as was a part of you. But the parts that mattered were here, stuck in the dripping labyrinth, together.
  And then Idia was gone, either being teleported to somewhere else in the maze, or back outside. In your mind you could see the events unfolding, but you weren’t really there. In the darkness there were two sources of light. The thread on your left pinky was now glowing a blinding gold, and weaving between the inky walls. Going forward. But there was also the string on your right hand, glowing a faint purple and led up. In order to get out of this maze it looked like you would have to follow the blue thread now turned gold which blazed forward like the Sun across the horizon.
In your mind you could see everyone fighting Idia, could see yourself fighting Idia, but you were following the gold thread through the silent maze.
“Where are you bringing me?” But all you got for an answer was a slight change in brightness. None of this made sense. I really should have researched this when I had the chance. That’s a problem for future me though.
The thread eventually stopped though, stopping in front of a figure sitting on the ground with his knees to his chest, hugging them. A figure made of blue, gold, and yellow flame.
Idia felt his chest and eyes burning. Why am I crying? He looked through his tear-warped vision, but he was in some sort of labyrinth. Why am I here? The thread was glowing gold, much as it had when he had attempted to cut it. But instead of being unbearably hot, it was warm, like his favourite hoodie. Comforting. But the thread on his right hand had snapped again, and was white. Ortho was gone again. It’s all my fault. Everything is always my fault.
Left changes us. Left is the unknown. Left is possibility.
But it’s also pain, uncertainty, fear, rejection—
“But how do you know that though?” That’s what Ortho said. And Idia didn’t know those things, not for certain.
He curled into himself, trying to ground himself. A curt laugh escaping from his lips. “A labyrinth of all places,” he said quietly into the dripping gloom. Fitting, since Ariadne was hurt most by the person she met there. Are you trying to tell me they’ll come in here, waltzing in like some hot shot hero, only then to ditch me for someone else?
But the thread only continued to glow, leading out into the maze. The only way out is forward. But Idia couldn’t move, he felt frozen, stuck. So he just sat there, letting out the built up grief of years and years come out. The tears gently rolled down his face before falling into the ink.
“Are you okay?”
A voice snapped him out of his thoughts, and Idia looked up. Standing at the entrance(?), exit(?) of the labyrinth was a figure, their voice distorted, and their body made up of blue, gold, and lilac flames. And he and they were connected together through the gold cord.
Idia moved in further on himself. “No,” he hissed. Obviously he was not okay. “G-go away! I don’t need you!”
But the figure only got closer, and came down to sit next to him, quietly waiting for him. “I may or may not know you, cuz honestly I can’t tell with the weird voice filter and flame suit, but I think you do need me… I know nothing about what this means,” you picked up the gold thread connecting the two of you together, “but I do know it means we’re connected in some way. Also that we can only get out with each other, regardless of if we like it or not.”
Regardless of if we like it or not. Idia hated this entire situation. He was stuck in here, in this maze with his soul match’s inner flame, but he was also outside. Left changes us. “I don’t want you.” I didn’t ask for any of this. I don’t want any of this.
It stung a bit, but you knew there was no bite to their bark. “You may not want me, and I may not want you, but I think we need each other. Cuz whatever these strings are, seem to have a mind of their own.” You got off the ground and offered your hand to your gloomy companion. “Now, are you going to sit here in the dark, or do you want to get out of this place?”
Idia looked up at them. You may not want me, and I may not want you, but I think we need each other. They were right. He wouldn’t be able to leave this maze without them. And right now, they were glowing as bright as the Sun, warm, comforting, and bright. Left is to change. Left is the unknown. So, Idia took their hand.
The two of you walked in silence throughout the maze, the only sound being the drip drip drip of ink hitting the ground. The further you went from where your fellow flame person was moping, the more light there was, and the ink was slowly fading out. But there was still a long ways to go. But the silence was suffocating, especially since you had some questions that needed answering.
“So,” you cleared your throat, breaking the quiet. “What do these strings mean?”
The flame figure, who was in actuality Idia, beside you tripped. They don’t know? How could they not know? “... they’re soul match threads…”
Soul match? “And what does that mean?” It’s not my fault that I don’t know anything about this. I didn’t really receive a “Welcome to Twisted Wonderland!” brochure.
Idia sighed. He was still nervous around you, but the anonymity of the voice filters and the fact that you were made of fire helped calm his nerves enough. “The one on the right is for the person who loves you for you, regardless of flaws.” And his had broke again, Ortho was gone again. “The left thread is for the person who will change you… it also means the unknown.”
“I don’t want you!” So that’s why they were so defensive. “Well, change can be scary. It can be good or bad,” you hummed. “But life is filled with change… Life is change. You can’t truly live without changing, without taking a chance on the unknown.”
“You’re pretty wise,” it slipped out of his mouth before Idia knew, and he was glad that the fire didn’t change colour like his hair did, or else he would have been bright pink. “Sorry, forget I s-said that!”
But you just chuckled, “Meh, just have learned a lot in the past couple of months… blue does mean wisdom though.”
“It also means sadness.” Idia stopped walking. “I don’t want to bring sadness into your life… it seems to be the only thing I bring.”
“Blue can mean a hundred different things, you just have to decide what it means for you. For me? It means a bright clear sky. It’s water. It’s the bright blue of … my friend’s fire. It can mean anything. You just have to give it meaning.” You didn’t really know why you were saying all of this, but you felt like you could be honest with the stranger beside you.
Left changes you. Left is the unknown… the left can be something you choose for yourself? Idia had always thought that his soul match would be different from him. Try to forcibly change him. But they weren’t. They were helping him, giving him… advice? Helping him out of the maze. Which at first was filled with dark ink, but now instead of stepping on the dark surface, they were in a maze made of white marble, and a blue sky dotted with white clouds overhead.
You didn’t look back at Idia when he stopped walking, and instead waited patiently. You don’t know why, but you had a feeling that if you looked back, they would disappear, heading back to the darkness of the centre of the labyrinth. “Come on, we’re almost out.” You offered your hand again, waiting. “Let’s get out of here.”
This time Idia took your hand without a second thought. A blinding light forced the both of you to close your eyes and you found yourselves out of the maze. To the aftermath of the overblot.
It was a week before the physical string on your and Idia’s hand came back. But this time it was different; instead of being purely blue it was a mix of blue and gold, taking on a marbled appearance. Idia’s right thread to Ortho was back too, and he was overjoyed to have his brother back.
“You met them, didn’t you? In the labyrinth?” Ortho asked, noticing that his brother was different, not a bad different either. “That’s how you escaped the blot.”
Idia nodded. Without his soul match, he would still be stuck in the blot, stuck in the dark maze… stuck in obsessing and blaming himself for what happened in the past. Left is the unknown. Left is the future. “They… they were kind.”
Ortho looked at Idia, and there was a smile in his eyes. “Go to them then, nii-san!!!” He harshly pulled on his thread to push his message home. “What are you waiting for, Idia?!”
What am I waiting for? They had already reached out to him, saved him, so it was only fair to find them in return… to show that he changed. So, he gently plucked at the thread, holding his breath as he waited for an answer. And he felt a pull back as an answer.
Just think of it as a side adventure in a game. This isn’t some boss battle. This isn’t a bad ending in an otome game… This isn’t a game though.
You were smothering Grim in hugs and kisses. “I LOVE YOU, YOU FLUFFY JERK!” You muffled into his fur as he tried to escape your affection.
“Nyeh! You’re choking me! Let me go, hench-human!” Grim squirmed out of your grasp, but hugged your leg. “... I missed you too.”
After everything with Idia’s overblot, you had been giving Grim extra love. Yes, he could be an ass at times, but he’s still your friend, and you loved him regardless. Right is for those who love you regardless of anything else. You loved Grim, regardless of everything that he’s done. And he loved you. You two were family. A vibrating sensation on your left hand pulled you from the sweet moment.
The thread connected to your hand was slowly vibrating. So, they’re reaching out? … maybe I did change them? And you lightly pulled on the string. You wanted to find them, if for nothing else than to make sure that they were okay.
“Grim, don’t start any house fires when I’m gone,” you placed a kiss on his forehead before going out the door. Ramshackle was still a disaster zone, but it was still home to you. You could always fix it later. It could wait. But the other person at the end of your blue and gold marbled thread could not.
You didn’t know who they were, you didn’t know who to expect, but you were open to the possibilities. You were open to change, open to the unknown. Open to the future, whatever that may look like with them.
Eventually your string stopped, and looking up from the thread you saw Idia, shaking slightly and looking at the string connecting you two. Focusing so strongly that you had came that he hadn’t even looked up to see who his soul match was.
“I know what you may think of me, but…” he took in a shaky breath, trying to get the vulnerability of his voice under control. “I’m trying to change, accepting that what happened, happened. But it’s going to take me a while to level up-” He cringed at the gaming slang he used.
You placed your hand on his. “How do you know what I think about you if you never really asked me?”
Idia’s head snapped up and he looked at you with wide eyes, hair flashing a flustered pink. “It’s you?!” He practically squeaked. The strong, responsible, and kind Prefect?! “NOT THAT THAT’S A BAD THING THOUGH!”
“Do you think change is so scary, now that we know it’s each other?”
Idia looked into your eyes, and he knew his answer. “As long as we have each other, no. It’s not.”
Fin!
Author's Note; Did I use a popular soulmate trope with the string of fate? Yes. Do I care? No~. I did tie in the mythology of Ariadne, but also of Orpheus & Eurydice. Also some colour language because I can. I hope you enjoy Idia's story! If you like my work, or want to read the other Soul Match AU stories I have, do check out my masterlist!
