Duke is super funny because imagining the first few times he went out during the day is hilarious. Besides Gem continuing to be the #2 Tumblr lore girlie behind Martyn, and Pearl blindsided but always willing to 200% commit to the bit, their interpretation of HC lore!! Mentioning other Gods on HC I bet Pearl endorses Watcher!Grian propaganda, being from Evo and all. Meanwhile Gem's got her lore solidly in the HC/Empires crossover sphere -- though I would bet money she's invested in Worldhopper stocks considering everything she's up to in Life Series. Pretty funny if HC10 c!Gem was aware only of Pearl's godhood specifically. Also curious to see what hermits ARE Gods / at least which ones Pearl was referencing here.

And well. Gem's God is canonically Pearl. Who didn't deny that Gem's her favorite princess. Do with that what you will.

I really wish we knew more about Patch, specifically how everyone who’s NOT the Rose-Xiao Long-Branwen family lives there.

Because while we’ve seen roughly how they live, I suspect it’s not fully the norm. They’re mostly isolated, in a pretty quiet area, and with notably no defense against Grimm — which is fine for them since they’re a family of Huntsmen.

But even if Patch is home to Signal Academy, I doubt that everyone there has combat training. That’s just not a sustainable way for a town to be. More likely, there’s natural defense as there is in every kingdom plus some construction, and that buys time and advantages for the Huntsmen they do have — which might be more abundant than in some places, but still won’t be universal. We see plenty of towns like that in Mistral.

But I also wonder about whatever town Patch has, given that one girl on a video call on the CCT in Volume 2 was heard saying:

“Hey mom, how are things back in Signal?”

Now, “at Signal” would make me assume the mom of this random background character is a teacher. “In Signal” implies a town — and that it’s where most people live. I think the Rose-Xiao Longs claiming to be from Patch means they’re pretty isolated from whatever the actual town is.

Signal is both the combat school and the main settlement, kind of like some college towns, while Patch is the island itself. And Ruby and Yang claim they’re from Patch and not Signal because their area is comparatively pretty isolated.

How do i explain this... to me, Order of Gold exists before Marika, she merely becomes its new God (from very line you quote: Gold arose, not born)

The Order of Gold (which is Primordial Life) has always been there, so is Order of Death & the Moon & Rot & Blood etc… they are broad concepts that are represented by different individuals throughout different ages

it’s the Order the Hornsent wants to inherit (notice how all of their curses are leveled at the Erdtree and Marika personally, not the Golden Order, and how the Minor Erdtree description put forth the concept of Gold without Order)

it’s likely what Placidusax’s Order is as well

(+1 parallel to Godwyn becoming Prince of Death when his mother is Primordial Gold of Life, GEQ is the same with her parents)

Different concepts battle for control of the world (different Two Fingers / Three Fingers)

-> but within those concepts there are also groups battling or replacing each other to represent them:

Hornsent vs Marika vs Ancient Dragon for Primordial Gold / Life

Ancient Death (Helphen) vs Destined Death (GEQ) vs Life in Death (Godwyn)

Black Moon (Nox) vs Full Moon (Rennala) vs Dark Moon (Ranni)

Malenia Rot vs Romina Rot / Messmer Abyssal Serpent vs Rykard Serpent of Blasphemy

Another point is that even within the game mechanic, Death and Life are represented as two separate factions with Death being an actual status effect and Life is what keeping it at bay: Vitality governs resistance to the effects of Death. (in the E3 trailer, the Elden Ring is said to command the Stars and gives Life its full brilliance).

So i view Death as its own equal faction, and not something that only popped up because of Marika. What she did is outright rejecting its existence in her new Age, whereas i imagine under Placidusax's and possibly the Hornsent's envisioned Order, Life & Death will co-exist as a cycle under a same guidance.

Tbh, the thing about love and Consort is mostly shipper talk (that was also based on my interpretation of the lore, but it already diverges far into I-made-this-up-for-yuri). If you want a non-ship version, they are rivals for Godhood & everything else could still happen exactly as any of my other points.

But again, all these are just my personal interpretation.

I was looking through the transandrophobia tag (first mistake) and was reading through replies to some of the posts (second mistake). I came across one where two (presumably) white trans women were arguing about the TMA/TME foolishness, with them arguing on opposite ends.

This isn't what made me pause. What did was the way that one of them was talking about Black political theory. Like, the way that one of them (the one that was trf) was talking about Black feminist theory in the way that White liberals talk about having a Black friend.

Reading the literature is great! But you comprehend it though?

Awesome that you have a Black friend! Would they call you their friend though?

Intersectionality, Womanism, Black transfeminism, and my own development of transwomanism are derived from Black poltical theory. Without having that as your base, your unprepared to deal with the more complex work.

Also, people forget that lived experience comes first. Not theory. If there are people whose experiences do not fall into your understanding of theory, that means either your theory, or your interpretation of someone else's theory is wrong.

(I think White Queers (TM) certainly read the literature sometimes. But when it come to things like Black feminism, it takes a bit more than reading, and poorly comprehending, to really get it.)
