Just read The Strange Case of Harley and Harleen and my god I needed a little bit of positive plurality in my life this week.

The way Pam and Harl's relationship adapts to accept the Harley/Harleen split makes my heart swell.

The way Pam sees the difference between her girlfriends.

And assures her that she accepts and loves all sides of her.

And does what she can to accommodate Harleen's memory holes.

The core relationship of this book is just so sweet and positive in accepting things as they are without judgment or pushing. Just acceptance and love.

And after finding that in our own life, I know what a powerfully positive thing it can be.

But the Harley/Harleen relationship is well handled too. There's friction and denial at the start but the two develop and trust one another by the end and Harley takes a seat as my favorite kind of character, the morally ambiguous protector.

I love the way Harley's protectiveness of Harleen is depicted and how she tries so hard to keep her from interacting with the criminal underworld of Gotham.

It's just saccharine and kind.

Highly recommend the book to anyone who just wants soft and kind plurality vibes. Heaven knows the majority of the fiction involving split personalities are flooded with angst and darkness and though this book contains a few dark plot beats like DV it never feels painful or sorrow inducing.

I'm so happy I read it.

I know Duke is normally drawn with short hair, and that’s fine, but I really think artists should take advantage of how many cool things you can do with his hair texture.

Duke Thomas is black, meaning he probably has 3c->4c hair texture, based on how it’s drawn I’m assuming it’s more likely 4b or 4c

(I’m in no way an expert, I’m very very white, all of this is from google. Please tell me if I’m in the entirely wrong ballpark here)

What I’m trying to say here is that people should draw Duke with the star Afro. PLEASEEE ITS SO COOL!

Though no Barbara Gordon this time, unfortunately. Because I was only in the mood to draw duos I want to see more of and they came to mind. The first art I ever saw for the aptly named Cass and Steph comic was so fun to look at, I was quickly drawn in which was fantastic! Not gonna lie though, I much prefer their fully covered face designs as vigilantes. Mostly because they look like actual Gotham cryptids that way. But oh well. ^v^ Gotta practice some more, so another duo should follow soon. -Bubbly💙

I love this book. Dick's and Bruce's early adventures are so much fun, I could read this too endlessly.

Batman and Robin Year One #7

I’ve had an idea ringing around in my head for a while, so I’m gonna throw it out in the wild. It’s a little silly and maybe a little stupid, but I think it could be fun-

So!

Y’know how there are those multiverse/time shenanigans fics where members of the batfam get thrown around timelines and different continuities? Like wfa Nightwing gets tossed into Young Justice cartoon universe? Things like that?

Well!

It’s always the bats who it happens to, so I was thinking, what if it happened to them out of costume. Like somehow instead of Nightwing, Red Hood, Red Robin, Orphan, Spoiler, Signal, and Robin getting sent to a different time/universe, it’s the Waynes (and Steph, who’s not adopted but is a sibling none the less).

And even better, they get sent to a time where (using the young justice animated example) the team doesn’t know who Robin and Batman are yet, so they’re just really confused as to why some random Billionaire’s kids (and holy shit that guy got so many kids-) meanwhile Robin (Dick) is trying not to stare at Batman with wtf written on his face.

On flip side, the batfam is trying desperately to seem freaked out and not be too familiar with the people because they’re supposed to be civilians.
