actually the idea that Dick, the eldest, the only one who ever wore the cowl long term, the only one who raised a Robin on his own, is also the only one who can successfully, perfectly replicate that barked ROBIN! in Bruce's voice? the only one who can pull that exact tone from the depths of his soul, to the point where his voice is identical, so identical that old Robins like Jason are obeying before their minds even realize their bodies are moving? that Dick is the only one, has always been the only one, who can channel Bruce's voice? can channel Batman himself? I am going feral

sorry you can ignore it if you want jfhejskao
its just a hc thing
i love the idea od dick being close to the kents (obviously he's close w clark and jon), but also with ma and pa kent. i imagine him going there as a teenager and/or adult cuz clark offered it to him after some fight with bruce and he spent some days there
(i also have a way more specific hc about it but it's about my "au" so i wont fill the post with it nfjrjskakoaoa)
Whenever someone asks me why I like that much Dick and Clark's uncle-nephew relationship, or why I think Clark is also another father to Dick just like Bruce, I just have to show these pictures:

In Bruce's phone, he keeps the contact photos for all his kids as their baby pictures (or the closest approximation that he has).
Dick's is a photo of him when he'd first designed his Robin costumes, smiling ear to ear as he proudly showed off his first hand-sewn prototype.
Jason's is a picture Alfred got of the boy sitting on Bruce's shoulders while they went over a case.
Tim is him fast asleep in the middle of taking notes on his first real mission (he wanted to impress Bruce really bad).
Damian is a polaroid he got from Talia of him when he was about a year old, teething on a mango seed as he sat on the floor of his mother's room.
Cass is entirely blacked out except for her big bright eyes that can be seen in the darkness-- Bruce thinks it's the cutest photo ever.
Even Babs has hers set to a photo of her with her first computer, grinning happy as she probably hacked into a federal database somewhere. He got that photo from Jim.
Likewise, of course, Alfred's (very bareboned) smartphone that he barely uses has Bruce's contact set with a photo of him playing in the snow as a little boy.

Gothamites: Lol. No way can Bruce Wayne raise a child. He is an incompetent playboy.
Bruce Wayne: *raises Dick to become an incredible good-hearted intelligent young man*
Gothamites: Wtf

Jason finds out that Tim is Robin and immediately confronts him which goes something like this:
Jason: so you're Robin, huh? you know I used to be Robin. How does it feel to steal a name?
Tim: emphasis on "used to be Robin." And I'm the 3rd robin. YOU set the precedent for stealing names. What's that? I can't hear you over the sound of Joker wanting his name back, RED HOOD
Jason: :(
And then some time later when Tim is Red Robin, Jason comes and finds him again like
Jason: wow you're doing it again. Stealing names from me (even if it's an alternate version of me)
Tim: remember that time you dressed up as Nightwing and killed people cause I do. I have the footage of it too.
Jason: >:(

Kon: Would you still love me if I was a worm?
Tim:
Tim: Well that depends, were you already a worm in this particular situation or did you get turned into one? How did you get turned into a worm? Was it magic? If it was magic I'd have to ask Zatanna or Constantine for help but im sure i could find a way to turn you back.
Kon: I-
Tim: Unless of course you don't wanna turn back. Maybe you just want to stay a worm for the rest of your life. I mean i don't know why you would but I'd still respect your decision
Tim: Would you even know you're a worm? Would you still have your memories from before you were one or would your mind also change into that of a worm? Hey how unethical would it be to date a worm anyway?
Kon: I am deeply in love with you.

Tim: Hey dick?
Dick: yeah?
Tim: Sooo... if someone were to hypothetically steal a sculpture called "The Hand". Would they call the heist, "The Hand Job"?
Dick *grinning and searching sculptures*: be a worse crime not to name it that

Jobs don’t always limit the skills you learn to the job itself. For instance, when I worked at Red Robin, they’d offer 30 minutes for an unpaid lunch, or 15 if you wanted to get paid the whole time. If you think that’s extremely shitty join the club.
As a result of wanting money I got really good at eating quickly so I could use my break to read or relax. I’ve always been a fast eater but when I worked there I learned how to eat an entire burger and fries in under five minute while keeping up a conversation. This is not advisable for good digestion, eat slow and chew your food.
There’s a balance to not talking with your mouth full and eating extremely quickly and it was a regularly used skill for years. When I worked at a sex shop I bragged about it once to a coworker.
She watched me with a timer going after I told her about it and we got burgers. I chatted with her the whole time. I was done in four minutes forty seconds.
Afterward she looked haunted and commented, “It was like watching a snake unhinge it’s jaw but you never talked with food in your mouth!”
More recently my beloved and I were catching up with a friend over lunch. I had a sandwich while they’d gotten falafel plates. We were having a lovely chat but after I finished a story our friend said, “I don’t want your food to go cold while you talk!”
I was surprised. I’d been deliberately talking more so she could eat. I turned to show her my empty sandwich box. Both she and my beloved were stunned. It was like I’d performed a magic trick and made my sandwich disappear because neither had even noticed me demolishing it like a snake unhinging it’s jaw.

i have some hcs of grayson (idk if i talked about it yet)
but i love the idea of the court of owls having contact with him when he was little
them doing things like training and starting his "transformation" as talon when he was really young
mary and john would never agree to it in normal circunstances, but if they didn't, the court would take dick away anyway and probably killing them both.
they trained him in "disguisable" stuff at the circus (like this) and made kind of mouthly injections of tiny doses of electrum (+the tooth), so his transformation later its easier. but it never happened, as he was taken by bruce.
that's why, in my hc, he has a little of enchanted body (strength, speed, healing, etc) and senses, but way less then he'd have as a full talon. (other post i used as ref)
these "talon traits" would also "show more" in moments of high distress/adrenaline burst, etc. so sometimes his eyes turn yellow and have little black veins.
+he'd have a weakness for the cold also, not the full sleep like the talons, but he'll probably pass out if he's too much exposed to extreme cold

I like to think that Jason always has food on him, especially as a kid.
I imagine him walking around the manor with his pockets bulging.
“What do you got in your pockets, Jay?” Bruce asks the first time he sees this, out of pure curiosity.
“None of your business.” Jason snaps. “Why? Think I got jewelry or something?”
“No, not at all.” Bruce hurries to correct. If Jason were stealing from him, he’d be more worried about the implication that he was planning to run away. “Just curious.”
Jason huffs, and leaves.
It doesn’t take long for Bruce to realize that Jason is stuffing his pockets with food. And not stuff like candy or cookies like Dick used to do on patrols, but more hardy foods like granola bars.
So he starts telling Alfred to get more packaged non perishables. A variety of granola bars, cheese and crackers, even juice boxes. And he never tells Jason about this, but the food goes missing all the same.
Bruce even puts pockets in Robin’s costume, just to make sure he feels comfortable.
Jason really appreciates it, but they never talk about it.

the batkids play the “what’s the most annoying injury you’ve ever had?” game but it’s lighthearted (“I broke both thumbs on a bad landing and couldn’t play video games for a month” “one time I got a cut on my leg that reopened every time I stood up” etc) until Bruce walks in. someone asks him the most annoying injury he’s ever had and he doesn’t even stop to think about it.
“Fracturing my spine.”
“Oh jeez,” Dick said, making a face. “Yeah, that’ll do it. That’s definitely…well, annoying isn’t the word I’d use.”
Bruce, expressionless: “Mostly because I couldn’t walk or complete other daily activities without assistance for an extended period of time.”
Dick, glancing at Jason. “Uh….huh.”
“What about that time Ivy hit you with that leaf and you couldn’t eat legumes for a year?” Jason asked, redirecting the suddenly maudlin group. “Wasn’t that more annoying?”
“Hmm.”
Tim leaned back, looking curious. “Just legumes?”
“Legumes,” Jason repeated, waving a hand. “It got ugly.”
“I’m not a huge fan of peanuts,” Bruce said, thoughtful.
“Yeah, no shit, I wonder why.”

I know we as a fandom don’t talk enough about the Batkids acknowledging how old Bruce is getting, but something I think we talk about EVEN LESS is the Batkids acknowledging Dick getting older.
Like Dick is pushing 30 in canon at this point, and realistically cannot do the same things he was doing as a kid. There is a reason a lot of athletes retire young, and Dick’s life has been brutal on his body, so eventually it’ll catch up with him.
Imagine if you will some random new JL/Titans recruit meeting Nightwing and asking “Is it true you can do a quadruple somersault?”
And Dick has to wince and say “I used to, but not anymore.”
Imagine the Batkids hearing that? Imagine everyone who saw him grow up hearing Dick acknowledge he is getting older and can’t do the same things he did in his youth. Imagine how they feel about their own age. Imagine the grief Dick must feel at knowing he’s losing the gifts his parents bestowed upon him, and the fact he’s out-aged them both.
Imagine Bruce painfully acknowledge (in his head because it’s illegal for him to emote aloud) that not only is he getting older, but his first child, his SON, is now the same age he was when Bruce took Dick in.
Imagine Dick picking the smaller option out on ice cream trips because his body can’t handle sugar the way it used to, or eating less in general because his metabolism has slowed down.
Imagine the Batkids sparring and Dick has to tap out because he can’t keep up with them all for as long anymore. Like he can’t keep still do a lot, and handle himself in a fight, but he is not showing off with flips the same way he used to.
Imagine the day one of the Batkids spots gray hair on Dick’s head, or realize that the lines on his face are just a little deeper than they used to be?
Babs keeps calling him the Boy Wonder as a private joke, but the boyish charm that Dick once had has since faded. He’s a grown man, and while at heart he still is the kid that brought light back to Gotham, his outside reflects the life they’ve lived and shared together, which didn’t just pass by in the blink of an eye.
And Jason pretends he doesn’t care, but realizes that Dick isn’t the same 16-year old kid that Bruce put on a pedestal. That he, out of all their siblings, saw Dick the most when he was in his prime, and that his older brother is just a little more fragile than he used to be.
And Tim thinks back to the days of him stalking Batman and Robin before, pulling out those old photos and realizing just how much Dick has aged. When did that happen, he wonders, and how much more will Dick change as he gets older?
Cass, Steph, and Duke acknowledge that Dick Grayson grew up, and left behind a legacy for them to fill, but they’ll always wonder what he was like when he was younger, and wonder how much longer he’ll be around. Bruce has been doing this vigilante schtick for 20+ years, but will Dick still be doing this when he’s Bruce’s age?
Damian takes it the hardest. He can’t look at Dick without thinking of him as the same Grayson who was his Batman, but the truth is, he’s not the same. His old portraits of Dick bear witness to that, with each one just a little different because time is not frozen to Dick the way it is with Ra’s and Talia. Damian privately grieves everyone he comes to care about in advance because death has surrounded him his whole life and eventually despite Dick’s promises that he’ll always be there for Damian, a day is coming when that promise will be broken.
But yeah. Older Dick Grayson. I have thoughts on this.
(Anyways don’t mind me. Just coming to terms with being the same age canonically as my childhood hero.)

The way The Boy Wonder depicts Jason’s memory of his murder in this panel is haunting.
He looks at the readers, as though begging them to help. He doesn’t know they’re the ones who voted for his demise. That they chose this.
I can’t get over it.
