#damian plays the violin
Text
I think if the Batfam were to hand Damian the aux cord everybody would think he's gonna play like classical music or heavy metal or something but with no fucking hesitation they are now speeding thru gotham to the Ben 10 theme song.

Damian really bought Anya her crunchy cakes but Ewen and Emile ate them. He has to buy them again and also now he promised her some candies because the sight of her crying is simply unbearable for his soul. He’s down bad.

Robin was dying...
Again...
How sad...
Yet no one was here
He was going to be alone
Alone just like he felt when in the Manor at times
So much blood down his chest and on his hands. Robin was going to die and no one was coming, no matter how much he called for his family to arrive. No one responded and he was going to die all over again.
What does one do when slowly approaching death? Reminisce on good moments?
...good moments... Robin might be able to count the amount of good moments he had on one hand.
Talia would sing such sweet lullabies in Arabic, it would make Damian start to fall asleep at times or he would feel safer whenever Ra Al Ghul was too tough on him.
Another good time was when Damian was around Dick and sometimes he had good times with his father.
Even Jason and Tim made Damian happy at times regardless of how annoying they may be.
Yet no one was here now...
Robin was dying
The only thing on his mind was his family... if only he was strong enough to say such nice things to them. To tell Dick that he loves him so much. To tell Jason that he and him aren't so different and he's happy to know that. To tell Tim that he's sorry again and that he's happy to be his brother. To tell Steph that even though they don't hang around much that he appreciates her enthusiasm. To tell Cass that if he could he'd play on his violin for her dances for as long as he can just to see her smile. To tell Duke that he's happy that he joined the family. To tell his father that he loves him and is happy to be with him. To tell Alfred that he's glad to have such an amazing person help him grow and improve.
It won't ever be told...
Robin is dying and it's getting dark now, everything is becoming slow. He's brushed with death countless times and died before, but why does this one feel so... painful? Maybe it's the wound slowly making him bleed out? Or as his now Lazarus Pit induced mother would say "You've grown weak, you've become emotional"? Yeah maybe the second one... Robin knows he's emotional now, but he doesn't despise it so much as he used to. Feelings are essential to being a family and simply being human, Damian has learned... but it doesn't seem to even really matter now.
As said before, he's dying and no one is here. He's going to die alone and full of unfulfilled wishes for his family.
So dark now...
Ah, is this it? The final part of it all? Dying even though father went through so much to bring me back... It's hard to tell if heros get more chances after dying already. Probably not... so there's no going back. Maybe I was forgiven for my sins? Maybe... I'll see everyone one day again... one... day...
.
.
.
This doesn't look like Hell, Damian would know. No this feeling is... alive. Alive? Is he alive?
"Damian! You're alive!" Who was that?
"Thank goodness Master Damian you took quite the time to awaken"
"...alive? How... no one responded, when did you all care?"
"You got to be joking, B and Dickie here almost tore Gotham apart looking for you"
"Don't only pin this on Bruce and I, not with you grabbing bad guys and scaring them for information on his location"
"I don't know what you're talking about"
"If you two could stop being annoying in front of someone barely awake? We were worried for you Damian"
"That's funny... you all were worried? Tt I'm not worth it"
Why was he saying that?
"You're on pain medication, it's making you a little loopy"
"Hah I'm so happy you all came, I thought I was going to die again hehe I'm so flattered that you all care... I was just about ready to let myself go... no one answered. It was getting dark... I was going to die. I was so scared that I wasn't gonna see you all again and then I'd go to Hell and might waste the chance that father gave me to return... I'm pathetic. Mother was right I'm emotional and weak... but is it really that bad? To be emotional I mean... if I wasn't then, I wouldn't have ended up loving you all. Ugh I'm tired..."
It was silent and for a second Damian thought he was alone again.
"Go to sleep son, we're not going anywhere"
"Mmkay... goodnight father"
Bonus:
After Damian had settled back into slumber, everyone almost broke out in tears.
"Did that come out of his mouth?" Jason was in shock and awe.
"He said he loves us!" Dick was sobbing with stars in his eyes.
"Oh he's most definitely not gonna remember this" Tim scoffed as he crossed his arms across his chest.
Bruce leaned down and planted a kiss on Damian's forehead as Alfred smiled. "Goodnight Damian"

I know it in my soul that whenever Damian has to play violin for school and needs an accompanist, he fucking drags Dick out of Blüdhaven and back to Gotham to play piano. Dick has not practiced piano since Aunt Harriet stopped bugging him to attend his lessons when he left the manor, and he doesn’t even like playing piano. But for Damian? Sigh F i n e, he’ll play the accompaniment.
He’ll drag out his dusty practice books to refresh himself on proper hand posture and what the fuck an F looks like on the staff. Yes, yes, he’ll look up whatever squiggly abomination is on his sheet music that music experts claim is “modern notation”.
Bruce, who knows how to play piano, or can otherwise contact professional piano accompanists, is like “son, please. leave your brother alone. he hasn’t even played in years.” And Damian’s like “NO. I will settle for nothing less than Grayson.”
“Son, that’s such a low bar.”
But Damian will have his way. He will perform with his brother, goddamnit.

Random headcanons at 3am Whoa!
Danny knows how to play the fiddle/violin. His aunty alicia brought one out one year and taught him how to play before her divorce, he doesn't remember learning but he has been practicing and has muscle memory of playing and continues to practice. He doesn't practice at school or join band because then he has less time to hang with friends and dash would bully him for playing the fiddle/violin and he likes playing. Sometimes at odd hours he will play his fiddle/violin invisible on the roof, loud and haunting for others to hear and wonder who is playing, never knowing it was the ghost boy who was playing the haunting melodies.
He only plays haunting melodies or the mario theme song.
Bonus+
Dcxdp!au
Damian hears him play at somepoint and adors his playing, even if what ever he's playing suddenly turns into the mario theme.

Batfam HC
In no particular order
Damian ends up taller than them all but for a period of time he was the same height as Tim and it was the most tense eight months at the manor
The only other physical effect the Pit left on Jason aside from healing his body is that his eyes now shine. Taking a nice picture of him is near impossible. He’ll stand where he knows light will reflect into his face to scare people. It’s Terrifying as Red Hood
Actually both Damian and Jason have the eye shine. Same with Talia and Ra’s.
Stephanie is a bottle blonde, she was blonde as a little kid but her natural color darkened to a medium light brown. Her license and ID and file in the batcave all say Blonde. It makes her laugh.
Every other hero that hasnt already had a Bat claim them will generally avoid the Bats whenever possible except for Duke. Everyone loves Duke.
All of them had to learn how to ballroom dance and can still do it
If it’s not a black or white tie event or meeting at WE offices, Tim has no clue how to dress himself. He lets Bernard dress him but that’s not really any better.
Bruce plays the piano very well. He stopped playing for a while after his parents died but got back into it before taking Dick in. He knows a couple classics like Clair de Lune [Alfred’s favorite] and Fantaisie Impromptu, op. 66 [his favorite] but he likes to improvise a lot. Helps him think.
Dick only knows how to cook three things without needing a recipe or instructions; Mămăligă, Ciorba de burta, and what he remembers of his mother’s Cozonac recipe.
Cass picks up instruments very quickly and so far knows the basics of piano, guitar, violin, and erhu.

Stand at the Edge
Prologue- Next
Ao3
Damian was irritated. This was not uncommon, surrounded as he was by idiots, but today especially he was, as Todd would so eloquently put it, pissed. This was because, for reasons utterly unknown, Greyson had gone insane, obsessively cleaning the spotless mansion (until Pennyworth ordered him to stop) and incessantly bothering him about his appearance, all because of an interrogation. Why Father had decided to hold this particular interrogation within the Manor itself was yet another source of Damien’s irritation. Apparently, the suspect’s emotional involvement with Todd justified the clear risk posed by allowing this stranger into their home, despite the fact that all background checks and past interviews showed him to be a clear and dangerous unknown. If anything, Todd’s involvement with the suspect only increased the likelihood of this “Danny Nightengale” being a danger to the family. Damian did not believe that Todd was an irrational madman in constant need of supervision Father seemed to think he was, but he did not pretend the man did not pose a possible threat. There was also the possibility that Nightengale recognized how deeply compromised Farther was when it came to Todd and was using him to gain access to the family, be it as the Bats or the Waynes. If that was the case, then Damien was sure Father would not mind granting a temporary reprieval of the No-kill rule. For the family’s safety, that is. Not because he cared about Todd or any of his other siblings or their feelings, thank you.
The main area of concern surrounding Nightengale was not what they had learned, but what they hadn't. So far, he had avoided all interviews with concerning success. Furthermore, no family member had actually managed to get a photo of him. Attempts to look him up showed only that he was a student at Gotham University studying Astrophysics and Aerospace engineering, that he had a sister named Jazmine who worked as a counselor within Arkem, which was concerning within it's own right, and that he had lived with said sister until moving in with Todd three months ago. Footwork provided a few more details, such as that he worked at the Iceberg Lounge as part of the band playing the violin and that he seemed to have a number of pet birds, specifically ravens, though these birds seemed to come and go as they pleased. Neighbors reported that he was pleasant enough, though there were a number of noise complaints regarding both the birds and his apparent activity as an engineer. What was truly concerning was the total informational whiteout predating his arrival in Gotham. The transcript he had used to get into university was a forgery, as was his social security number, birth certificate, and driver's license. He had no social media presence of any sort and there was no one they could talk to who had any idea where he was from. The same went for his sister, they were both complete blanks. What was most interesting, at least according to Drake, was that the photo used on the fake driver's license looked to have been doctored, as if someone had taken an old photo and artificially aged it. None of them could think of a reason someone would need to do that.
“I still do not understand why we are bringing Todd and Nightengale here.”
Damien said, doing his best to tie his tie himself with mediocre success.
“Because,” Bruce explained, stepping in to help and rescue the tie from Damien’s increasingly frustrated attempts, “he is dating Jason, and as his family, we have every reason to want to meet him.”
Damien raised a brow. That seemed unusually irrational of Father. Perhaps the presence of Todd in the equation was interfering more than he had expected.
“Given how slippery he has proven in the past,” he continued “this is our best opportunity to engage him while minimizing both his suspicion and his likelihood to run. Furthermore, he is far more likely to be forthcoming than he would be if operating on his own turf. This gives us the upper hand more than if we attempted to meet him elsewhere.”
That was better. If there was one thing Damien appreciated about Father, it was his direct, analytical nature. Meanwhile, Greyson shouted something about needing to hide all of the chairs. Suddenly there was a knock at the front door, and a loud bang as Greyson tripped himself attempting to open it. Pennyworth, appearing suddenly at the door when Damian could have sworn he was in the kitchen, opened it before Greyson had a chance to right himself. Standing there was Todd and, assumedly, Nightengale. It suddenly occurred to Damian that he had never actually seen the man up close before. He was tall, with dark hair and brilliant blue eyes. He was thin as well, concerningly so, his joints sharp where the bones shone through. His skin was so pale, like freshly fallen snow or bleached bone. There was something terribly familiar about him, but so was probably any other pale man with black hair and blue eyes. As he grew closer, Damian noticed, snaking up Nightengale’s right arm and peaking up from the collar of his turtleneck, a Lichtenberg scar. Something in the back of his head stirred, but he couldn't think what it could possibly be. Greyson was shaking this man’s hand, offering some kind of greeting, but Damian couldn't hear it. Suddenly, Nightengale’s head snapped. Now he was looking right at Damian, his blue eyes boundless and staring as a grin stretched far wider across his face than should have been possible, wider even than the Joker and with teeth like a cat, sharp and predatory. He thought he maybe should have been frightened, though he wasn't sure why.
“Little Prince!”
Nightengale embraced Damian tightly, lifting him slightly off the ground. He wasn't sure how he had gotten so close so quickly. His skin was cold, but as comforting as an ice pack on an injury; the relief of a cold shower in the height of summer held in sharp and narrow arms. Something about this situation seemed wrong but he couldn't pin down just what it was.
“It's been so long! Look how big you’ve gotten. Ancients, the last time I saw you, you were just a shade!”
Wait. That was it.
“What do you mean, ‘last time’”
Damian willed his muscles to tense, his hands to clench into fists but they remained stubbornly relaxed.
“Dami, little light, ya sitti, don't you remember me?”
Nightengale gently set Damian and for a second he was blinded as the man was wreathed in rings of light bright as the sun. When the light faded the man had... changed. The most obvious shift was his hair, once black and now so blindingly white that it made his face shadowy and difficult to see, as well as luminescent, Lazarus green eyes, the sclera black as night. Rather than the simple black turtle neck and slacks he had come in, he was now wearing a black hazmat suit with a white belt holding what looked like an old-fashioned radio and, oddly, a thermos. He had white gloves, though they became sharp and claw-like at the tips. There were other, more subtle changes, such as how his skin grew grey, like someone who had been dead for hours, and the faint glow of the fractal Lichtenburg just visible through the suit. Damian became aware suddenly of pressure that had been building in his ears and only just released.
“No.”
“Oh...” the Man, he was not Nightengale, seemed to deflate.
“No... I... It's not... You can not.”
Damien was faintly aware that he was not making sense, but seeing that this made two of them, he felt little need to correct it. Finally, enough of his brain cells managed to collide for him to form a sentence.
“What are you doing here?”
“Damien,” Father said, careful to insert himself between his son and whoever, whatever, was floating just slightly off the ground before them, “who is this? How do you know him?”
“His name is Phantom. When I was a child, I would make up stories about him and the strange land he ruled.”
Hearing his name, Phantom smiled a much smaller, more hesitant smile than his Joker-esque grin from before. He waved slightly. Meanwhile, Father looked as if he were about to have an aneurysm. Looking about, that seemed to be the consensus amongst the onlookers, albeit Todd who laughed. Hard.

Looking for a fic I'd been following months and months ago, I can't seem to find it based on what I remember.
It's a sick Damian Wayne fic but it's not in that tag on ao3 (unless the title was changed and I missed it) but he's not like cold or stomach bug sick, it's something serious. He tries to hide it at first but it gets too hard to hide so the others find out and start trying to figure out what it is because Leslie's tests keep coming up with nothing.
One specific scene I remember is Damian playing the violin for his family (Bruce bought him one to encourage new hobbies), and while he's playing he has a seizure and everyone panics because it hasn't happened before.
It was not completed the last time I saw it, but as I mentioned that was a while ago.
Hoping you or a follower might be able to find it.
Thanks
I believe your looking for this one. The Chronic Illness tag was useful.

Once Damian starts to get more comfortable with his family, he definitely started copying them and joining them for things.
Tim: he always wakes up and has at least one cup of coffee in the breakfast nook. Damian started joining him and pretty early on Tim noticed he Did Not like coffee. So one morning when Damian sits down in front of his mug, he's startled by the taste of hot cocoa on his tongue. He glanced at Tim who isn't visibly paying attention. (He is, he's just good at hiding it.) Every morning from then on, Tim makes a pot of coffee and a cup of hot cocoa. They don't mention it.
Jason: when Jason visits, you can find him in the library or one of the studies for at least an hour of his stay. (Three hours minimum if it's multiple days in a row.) Damian started sitting with him during these times. And then he started picking the books that Jason had already read. Jason noticed and started leaving stacks of books for the kid to read. They don't mention it.
Dick: he loves to use the gym when he's at the manor. Damian only used it for sparring or endurance. Dick uses it for acrobatics. Damian starts trying to recreate Dick's moves. Dick begins to move through his routines slowly so that Damian can watch and replicate. Sometimes he even gives a verbal run through of what he's doing disguised as him walking through for himself or a self evaluation. Damian starts receiving gymnastics and acrobatics videos in his email. They don't mention it.
Stephanie: she's a bit trickier for Damian to find something. Eventually he figures out she frequents the music room. Specifically the piano. He plays a multitude of instruments but his favorite is the violin. So he starts hanging out in there, looking at the music sheets. Eventually he starts playing alongside her on his violin. She starts keeping violin sheets for the songs she plays on her piano. They don't mention it.
Cass: she was easy to figure out, in the sense that there was one thing she spent her time doing. Ballet. She loved it. And Damian soon joined finding himself enjoying it as well. He learned the same way she did: watching someone else. Neither ever spoke any words their movements communication enough. They never mentioned it.
Duke: he was often doing puzzles in the media rooms. It didn't take long for Damian to slide into the space beside him. At first it was just watching, but eventually it was piecing them together. Duke always made sure to sort the pieces by shape and color before Damian joined him. Damian could never catch him doing it no matter how early he showed up. It was always relaxing. They never mentioned it.
Babs: he'd found that he liked sitting with her at the library, reading books she left for him or that Jason left for him. It was easy to relax beside her. Often times, he'd end up curled under the desk napping. Sometimes he'd sit with her during her Oracle time. They never mentioned it.
Bruce: it was harder to find something for Bruce. He was always working, either for WE or as Batman. Damian settled for doing his homework in the study with Bruce when he was working from home. It wasn't the best but he enjoyed it. They never mentioned it.

I absolutely LOVE the ‘Not’ series!
I’ve read a handful of the neglected reader trope (i.e. three) and so far, yours is the most detailed one in terms of how the batfam became yandere. Not to say that the others aren’t good– they’re great! They just don’t really show how and why.
Mostly they just show that the reason for their behavior is because of their guilt for neglecting the reader and their paranoia in finding the reader either dead or tortured (which is a valid reason), it just never convinced me(?) I mean, as far as I know, it’s normal to feel that way when a member of your family just vanishes without so much as a trace.
Which probably explains why I like part 2 so much, because not only did it showcase their own personal reasons as to why they turned out they way they are (borderline obsessive), but it showcased how badly the reader was neglected. I mean– you should’ve seen my face during the tapes part.
I guess I completely underestimated the neglect when I was reading part 1. And although, yes, I am aware of the fact that neglect is neglect, and there shouldn’t be a rate to determine when the neglect is bad enough because it already is bad–no matter how big or small the situation–I didn’t really feel (?? meaning, it didn’t touch me at first) it until reading part 2, where I saw the extent to the emotional abuse they put the reader through. At such a young age too? Jesus.
During the first part, I kept telling myself that this was fine and I’d probably be able to survive this and just be petty to my family if it were to happen, until I continued reading up to part 2. Only then did I realize how much I actually relate to the reader.
I’ve learned how to play the violin, done taekwondo, participated in school sports/events, and studied till my nose bled and I passed out (literally based on true events, was admitted to the hospital and was generally not a good time).
And you know what made all of that suck? I didn’t do it for myself, but for the validation of family (I’m from your stereotypical asian family who’s expectations are high and long enough to reach the moon and back).
And what made all of that even suckier was that there were times where my parents couldn’t even make it to the events, in which made me connect to the reader even more.
I know the feeling of standing up on a stage, desperately looking around the crowd for the two familiar dots which are your parents’ faces, only to be met with stacks of unfamiliar ones. Gosh, especially that heart crushing feeling where you just feel your heart drop to the pit of your stomach when you realize they aren’t there to see the work you’ve practiced so hard on, especially when you did it for them.
I felt that exact same feeling for the reader during the part where Bruce saw all the fliers for the performances he failed to attend, and that was the exact moment when you could hear my heart begin to crack. And you can just guess that the rest is just my heart beginning to crack even more.
But anyway, I absolutely love how you wrote everyone’s individual personalities and their personal relations to the reader. I can really tell that it’s well thought out! Looking forward to the confrontation in part 3!!
Thank you so much!!! I'm glad you enjoyed the second part, and were able to connect with the reader! :]
That was also generally the main focus of Part 2, as I did really want to delve into the nitty-gritty of what got the Batfam started on this hell train to yandere land. Though I wasn't able to see that idea out completely as, y'know, I don't really describe how Tim, Damian, Steph, and Babs ended up hopping onto that train.
The portion of the Batfam in the Manor, and coming to terms with how they've collectively neglected the reader in these little, individual parts, is rushed and does kind of just hop to the city and how the reader is currently doing - along with establishing a time period for how long they've been gone. Which that is mostly because the more I wrote - the more laggy tumblr would get, so I made a last minute decision to speed things along (and I also wanted to get Part 2 out as soon as possible).
Regardless, as you've said there are other neglected!reader posts that do at least mention how the Batfam turns yandere, but they don't really go into detail, or mention a 'how', and just mention the 'why'. (Which is okay! They're amazing, and enjoyable reads anyway :]!) So for Part 2, I really wanted to emphasize on those details, and at least show how the seeds of obsession have been planeted.
Again, as you said! Worrying over the reader's well being, and coming to terms with the crushing reality of what you did to someone — albeit mostly unintentionally in most cases — and what that could potentially lead them to do, and what it's already caused them to do- is a valid and understandable reason! I just wanted to show more than that, and almost make it more... personal?
I wanted to show how it wasn't just pure worry and guilt that started them on this path. I wanted to show the planting of the seeds, and later, how these little things will make the Batfam commit to treading down said path.
Like how Bruce starts off as worried and guilt-ridden, only to end up in love with all these small details and character traits he notices from the reader in their notebook — which turns him serious and cements his will and need to find the reader. Or how Dick starts off similarly, but with a bit more panic and disbelief, only to discover just how much personality the reader had, and how lovely of a person they could be through their voice messages to him, which does fuel his guilt - yes, but I think it adds just that little bit more to everything. Or Cass and Jason watching those birthday tapes, and even Tim falling in love with the reader's music (which isn't gone into much detail within Part 2 itself, but is implied a little, I believe).
I feel like their fall feels more personal to the reader in that way. Rather than just have them be worried about the reader's health in some way (physical or mental (which is still a valid concern, of course!!)), they fall in love with pieces of the reader, and notice small details within them that draw the family in. Furthering their need to find the reader.
And I'm glad you enjoyed the characters as well! Even if I am still a little worried that they may be a bit ooc, I did want these small, but personal discoveries, or small glimpses the family had into the reader's life, to be unique in some way. With their interpretations differing, and while their general reaction was the same, their 'drive' is a little different. If not, then a little similar to one another with odd, small parts not quite matching up inbetween. Not to mention that with a whole family that is so similar, and yet so different- it felt fitting to try and aim for that. Though I can't say much about how well that exactly got across, haha!
Besides, again, with their different personalities and everything, it makes sense that their connection or relationship — or lack thereof — to the reader is a bit different for each of them. Which is kind of implied, I suppose, as some did catch a few small things about the reader, while others didn't notice much at all and such, but I'd like to think that it was a nice touch.
Putting further emphasis on the extent of the neglect and such was also intended, of course, and I also think you and other folks finding out such things from the eyes of the Batfam, was a fun way to go about it as well. Since you not only learn more about events that have happened before the series, but also get the Batfam's thoughts on it and how said information impacts them as well. Though who knows, maybe I'm looking too deep into my own writing- but it was fun, I will say that!
Compared to the development of the Batfam as yanderes, I do consider the information about the reader's life both in and outside of the Manor, as icing on the cake, in a way. Since it gives you more of that flavor along side the cake it self, but that probably doesn't make sense. Lol!
Anyway, I really liked this ask, and thanks so much for sharing your feelings, anon! And once again, I'm very glad that you're enjoying the series so far :]

What's a secret talent that each side of your ships have? Like, is one of them good at card tricks or is secretly a really good artist?
Batfam:
This fandom was very hard because most of these people are super people. Therefore, They are good at a lot of things, it’s kinda apart of the job. The secret part was what threw me.
Jayroy: It may be just me, but I feel like Jason can play an instrument really well. Now I am not talking a guitar or something rock related. I am talking a violin or piano. I say this because It probably had to take a little bit to enroll him in school or in a nearby school. So, I could see him being at home for a little bit and just bored out of his little mind. However, he is a resourceful kid so he soon found the library. And because Wayne Manor is Wayne Manor, they probably have a piano or some other instrument in the library. They’re just that extra. That or Jason was extremely bored home alone and asked Alfred if he could teach him something. So, Alfred taught him to bake and to play the violin. For Roy I feel like his secret talent would be singing. Especially since nobody probably expects it. However, I could just see him singing a lullaby to Lian and just having the best voice. There are only a few people in his life that I’ve ever heard him sing besides her. Jason probably and I could see Dinah also being someone who he sung for. As well as a few members of the Teen Titans. Probably not the guys because they would rag on him, but Donna and Kori would be super sweet about it.
JonDami: This one was a hard one because of Damian. He was very forthcoming with his talents when he entered Bruce's life. I can’t see Damian ever hiding his talents. That is unless it’s something that he thinks his family would shame him for. Especially with Dick and Bruce, Damien really strives for their approval. So, I can’t see him doing things they don’t approve of without hiding them. Now I don’t believe he would ever do anything truly terrible because he is a hero. However, I can see him doing risky things that they wouldn’t approve of. Like he is very good at daredevil activities. So, his hidden talent would probably be an extreme sport or activity. I could see him being a rock climber. One of those climbers that will try to one up themselves all the time. To the point where he’s hanging off a cliff trying to get to the top of a mountain. It isn’t truly dangerous because he does have Superboy on speed dial so to speak. However, Bruce and Dick would be horrified. Jon is hard as well. However, after some thinking I could see his secret talent being something involving speaking. His parents are news reporters, so he is very eloquent. Also, his mother is Lois Lane so I could see him being very good at debating. He would use his reporter skills to dig up information and he would just annihilate his opponent. His mother would be so proud.
Timberkon: For this trio I think they are very multitalented. Mainly because there are three of them. For Bernard, I can see him being a master hustler. He is so good at bluffing and playing dumb. He doesn’t even need someone to support him, he can make do just by playing other people. The funniest thing is no one believes that he is doing it on purpose. For Kon I can see him being a baker. He is being raised by Ma and Pa Kent, so he probably gained those secret family recipes. He got recipes that only Clark, Ma and he knew. He can also taste a dish and tell you what it needs just from taste. For Tim this was a hard one because I don’t think he is the most guarded out of the group. However, after some thought I think he would do really well at gaming. Any kind of gaming. He strikes me as the type of person that can break down a game to its core elements and beat it easily.
Birdflash: I keep hoping these will get easier as I go on however, they just keep getting harder and with that intro let’s talk about Dick. Now he is the oldest child so he is probably very good at a lot of things. However, I am going to base what I think is secret talent is on his upbringing. Due to the fact that he grew up in a circus I feel like his secret talent would be crafting or like resourcefulness. Dick strikes me as the type of person who could MacGyver his way out of any situation. He is quick on his feet and is usually thinking one step ahead. Also given his upbringing he could also be a survivalist. I know this doesn’t make sense in the DCeased universe but that’s what I’m going with. Moving on let’s talk about one of my favorite speedsters. Wally is a hard one because again he doesn't strike me as anyone that would feel the need to hide their talents. Not because he’s overconfident like Damian but more because he just doesn’t see a reason to hide them. However, if he did have one that he wanted to hide I feel like it would be something useful. Therefore, I think his secret talent is sewing. I say this because I feel like his clothes would get ripped and torn and worn down a lot because of how fast he runs. Therefore, he would need to know how to mend them at any given time. I know he has Iris but she’s not always available, so I feel like he had to learn it to just help himself out. That or I could see him knowing how to cobble and fix shoes for the same reason.
StephCass: For Stephanie I feel like this is not so much a hidden talent as it just is unexpected. For me I think her hidden talent is her intelligence. She is probably so much smarter than everybody thinks. Now I say this because first of all her best friend is either Tim or Barbara. Now I’m not saying you have to be smart to have a smart best friend. However, I feel like Tim and Barbara were drawn to her for her quick thinking and smart mind. Also, her father is a super villain, she has to be intelligent to know how to stop him. However, it is a hidden talent because she’s often overshadowed by those that more openly show their intelligence. Despite her upbringing Cass strikes me as a very gentle soul. Therefore, I could see her secret talent being something that is helpful to animals or plants. I would go with gardening. Her skills in seeing things the way she does would be super helpful in plant parenting. She also could find it a nice break from her other more strenuous hobbies. Also, it is cute to imagine Alfred noticing her skills and setting up a little plot for her outside.
The Mighty Ducks:
Banksway: So, I want to start with Charlie. I could see his secret talent being cooking or baking. He probably had to cook a lot as a kid if Casey was taking a night shift. Therefore, I could see him developing his true skill with it. However, it’s not something he really focuses on so people don’t realize that he’s actually good at it. I feel like Adam is the one who’s good at cards. I say this because he probably had to attend a lot of stuffy events growing up. Where his only entertainment would be something small like a deck of cards. I could see him playing with his siblings and just destroying them. He likes to play dumb though, so people don’t think he’s good at all. That is except for poker he cannot play poker to save his life.
Gerreau: Guy is the fashion expert of the group. He has a way of putting together outfits that are just so perfect. He strikes me as a person to be able to look at somebody and knowing the event they are attending and find the perfect outfit in no time flat. In fact, in the future, he probably is Connie’s stylist because he’s just that good. Connie strikes me as somebody who is very good at a lot of things. So, I could see her hidden talent being something that she is able to use to benefit herself. Therefore I would say it's probably either public speaking or speed reading. We know she goes on to be a senator and both of these would extremely benefit her job.
Tammy/Fulton: Fulton strikes me as a craftsman. Like he likes to work with his hands. He is probably very good at making things from furniture to like little knickknacks. Like I could see him having a workshop at home where he works on his construction layouts as well as other projects. For Tammy I feel like she would be very good in a fight. Like she strikes me as somebody who understands how her body moves and could take down somebody twice her size. Like you want her on your side in a bar fight.
Wudoza: This is another one that was hard to think about. I could honestly see Kenny being the one who can do magic tricks. He strikes me as kind of an only child and my headcanon is he actually lives with his grandparents. Therefore, I could see him picking up magic as something to do when he was bored. It’s also a positive way to fuck with people without the risk of them getting mad at you because it’s magic how can they get mad at you for magic. Now I chose Luis’ hidden talent just because I think it would be funny. Even though he can’t stop I feel like he would be very good at balancing. Like unless he’s directly running into something I feel like he’s very good at keeping himself upright. He could probably also rock a balance beam. Again, I don’t have any backing for this I just think it’s funny.

question- do you mind doing fic recs? And if so, do you have any good fics centered around Dick and Damian's relationship? In particular anything that plays with their whole "I'm your brother but also your father/son but not but yes" thing they've got going on? If you see this thank you, you're doing the lord's work <3
anon if you’re still out there, thank you for your patience and hope you enjoy these! there’s MANY Dick&Damian fics i love so i tried to limit it to the “im your brother AND kinda your dad but not really” dynamic!!
3:16 by partingxshot
The knife pushes thin along Dick’s carotid artery, cupping the indent between neck and jawline—forcing him to angle his chin. The metal is warm, pulled with execution speed from under Damian’s pillow. “Okay,” Dick says quietly, tracking the intricacies of his own heartbeat—counting the space between breaths. “Guess I did need a shave.” (With faltering steps, Dick and Damian become Batman and Robin.)
i think every Dick & Damian enthusiast has read this lol it may be ongoing but its latest chapter is left on a very satisfying end for an arc!!
an endless road to rediscover by littlearrows
In the months before Mar'i is born, Dick and Damian take a cross-country road trip together.
if you enjoyed the Dick and Damian tension from Nightwing (2016) #16-20 you might like this! :’) encouraging everyone to read those issues tbh
to be human by newsical
None of his Gotham acquaintances look upon his old life favorably — this, Damian knows. Was his life not noble before? Damian feels like a waterboarded gnat, swirling towards a drain. Gently, as though he has not ripped out Damian’s stomach with his teeth, Alfred says, “Attempting to take his father’s place won’t work, Master Richard…” Their voices peter out, and the last thing Damian can hear is Richard huff and say something that sounds like, “No shit,” and he is alone. Somewhere, a clock ticks. Damian pictures it melting. (Dick and Damian over the years.)
lovely dive into Damian’s personal growth and his relationship with Dick!! reading the poem that inspired the fic, especially again after finishing the fic is a nice touch!
Do You Feel the Way My Past Aches? by fishfingersandjellybabies
Bruce finds a wayward Damian asleep on his couch. Dick then find them both. An unexpected conversation ensues.
a tender Bruce perspective on the dynamic! “Bruce thought back to watching them work, Dick the master of the spotlight and Damian his perfect shadow.” THEM
When You're The One Who's Loved by fishfingersandjellybabies
Damian doesn’t understand why Dick is so upset. Tim does, though.
SO SOFTT ykw just go thru all of this writer's Dick & Damian fics they just exude love and warmth!!
Tea for Two by StormLeviosa
Their apartment is full of smiles now. It is because of Pennyworth, he is sure. Damian did not realise how much he'd missed Pennyworth until he came back. He slotted into their little family like the puzzle piece you do not know is missing. It was pleasant, having a grandfather he did not need to fear, and Pennyworth was all that and more.
part of a series, but easily read as a standalone. they’ve given up the vigilante life and DOMESTIC DICK & DAMIAN + ALFRED!! WHOLESOME!! i also enjoy the other Damian installments of the series, fun explorations of his interests/skills like violin!! and animals (going to vet school!!)
Pop-tarts and orange juice by Ididloveyou_once
‘Do you ever wish that Father had actually died?’ ‘Never.’ And despite the vehemence with which Richard says the word, Damian thinks that he might be lying. But only because he hates himself for the truth. Or: Bruce has been back from the dead for three months. Damian doesn’t know how to feel. He does know that he misses his da- Richard. They talk about it… Sort of.
"He wants to tell him that nothing compares to being Robin at his side. To being Damian at his side." WAILING
The Weight of Legacy by DawnsEternalLight
Damian didn’t think. He didn’t have to, protecting Richard was instinct by now. Darting forward right into the arc of Crane’s scythe as it aimed for his partner’s neck was as familiar to him as breathing, etched into his DNA. For if he lost Richard again, how could he continue to exist?  The man was not only his firmest tie to Batman’s mantle, now that Father was home and clashing with Damian, but at some point during their partnership he had inexorably woven himself into Damian’s very being. Through training, and lessons, and quiet nights filled with ice cream. Patience and love–a thing Damian had not hoped to find here when he’d first set foot on American soil.  To lose Richard would be akin to losing a limb. And so Damian acted as if that were true. He wove protection of his mentor, Batman, sibling, into every action he took and refused to accept failure as an option.
"We Both Know You're The Last of the Graysons" as a fic prompt is wild...that panel never fails to make me cry... also, another writer with an abundance of fantastic Dick & Damian fics!!
Emergency Contact by DawnsEternalLight
Damian: Apologies for the intrusion into your day, Richard. I need you to pick me up from the gallery trip early, it seems I have been stabbed. Dick blinked down at the message then read it again. And again. His brain not quite processing the words staring up at him, backlit by the phone.
this ventures bit more into parent Dick Grayson, as in Damian explicitly calling Dick his dad at the end but it's a fun fic!! that preview always cracks me up LOL
The Stowaway by LittleLadybugs
There's a cat in the penthouse. Fortunately, Alfred has yet to find out. Now to keep it that way. OR Dick tries his best to parent Damian. Damian tries his best, period. They’re both a bit clumsy, but they’ve got the spirit. There might be a cat Meow ᓚᘏᗢ 💙💚
smiling and laughing through this whole fic THEY ARE SO SILLY I LOVE THEM
as love carries its strength, but not its labels by AlterHarpia
Bruce is on a trip beyond Earth’s Solar System for longer than he intended, making Dick and Damian fall into an old pattern. “I'm not Batman.” A mere reminder, perhaps, but when said to Damian it always sounds like an apology.
basically them putting into words their own funky lil dynamic!!
Let The Right One In by whaleofatime
Hot on the trail of Deadshot threatening mayhem in Japan, Dick and Damian find themselves going undercover as a father-son duo on House Hunters International. Deadshot won't be the only source of chaos in Tokyo this summer, and Dick's only a little apologetic.
okok kinda cheating here since they’re just undercover as dad and son lol BUT it’s such a fun read of the duo on a Japan trip (mission)!
the primacy of personal conscience by birdsofthesoul
"WHAT MAKES IAGO EVIL? some people ask. I never ask." — Joan Didion, Play It as It Lays Or: Dick, his family, and the moral morass of a wishing well.
cheating again bc plot not focused on Dick and Damian’s relationship, but it’s there! really enjoyed the characterizations and dynamics here!!
soft clocks by dustorange
Side effects of being revived by Lex Luthor may include amnesia, going undercover into a high-level espionage agency, not recognizing your family, fighting your family, and dealing with the emotional weight and guilt associated with encountering said family. Ask your doctor if being revived by Lex Luthor is right for you. (a.k.a. Dick has amnesia during his time at Spyral. The family grapples with finding out he's alive. Dick grapples with finding out he has a family. Inspired by this post by bigskydreaming.)
lol sorry another not focused on their relationship but!! came and stayed for the plot, then the Dick & Damian moments KNOCKED ME OUTT!!

violins, stars, and a show

You pull on the bow of the violin, staring at the notes on the sheet music as you practice. The notes skip through the air and dance, and you pull and play.
Damian sits on the other side, looking through his own work as you continue practicing.
"Habibti," He sighs. "What do you want for dinner?"
"I'm good with anything." You tell him absentmindedly, continuing with the music as you reach the end of the song. "Why?"
"I was considering cooking for the night."
"Then anything is fine." You pull the last note, finger releasing the key when the beat ends.
Damian claps for you as you bow for him, a smile on his face.

Headcanons:
Damian LOVES listening to you practice the violin
I feel like the two of you meet at an animal cafe or something bc you're obsessed with the cats there and he's there because he wants to adopt another one

Bird Boys (Batfam) Instrument hcs
So my friend and I (@hystericmusician :D) made up hcs as to what instruments they'd play
(I do ship Dickkory as a heads up)
Dick Grayson: Acoustic guitar but- at an amateur level lol. He sings cheesy love songs to Kory as he plays guitar. Poor thing also can't sing. But he tries and that's what matters (she's still charmed).
Jason Todd: Electric guitar. Or very angry bass. We also decided he would like RAtM
Tim Drake: Piano boy. Took lessons when he was younger, but dropped it. He still knew how to play a few pieces very well from memory, but never really picked it up again until much later after he became Red Robin.
Damian Wayne: Violin. Probably took lessons when he was smaller as an extra thing, but Talia said it took up way too much of his time and ultimately made him quit in favor of more assassin and intellectual training.
Bonus: Tim and Damian picked up piano and violin again, doing it at the same time. While the progression, because this is Damian Wayne and Tim Drake, got a bit competition-like at times, they found that they got pretty good at it and can play pieces together.
Dick has also commissioned them to help him play a cover of 1000 Years by Christina Perri for Kory on a date night.
Again, thanks to @hystericmusician for helping me develop the hcs!

Jason: the cannons like in Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture

Duke: the drums but he's always one beat off

Barbara: a tuba, which she's never played in her life
Harper: an air horn because she left her instrument at home
Carrie: a pan flute made of kazoos
